What’s Up With Me?

It’s been bad all around for me, if I’m being honest. My grandmothers health suddenly got worse out of the blue. And I had a depressive episode. And I got some new neighbours and they are, well to put it politely, loud. They threw a party on Sunday which I have no problem with but they were insanely loud. Like I couldn’t hear myself speak in our apartment due to their music. I just hope this doesn’t become a weekly thing because I have the soul of an old person and will yell at them to turn their music down. I need my beauty sleep…

In more positive news, we went to watch the new Indiana Jones movie. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t as good as the older movies. I’m a huge Harrison Ford fan so I hate to say it but I think it’s time for him to retire the hate and whip. The movie wasn’t bad at all. In fact, I would say it was a good movie. But it just wasn’t great. I’d still recommend watching it though.

What have you been up to recently? What’s new in your life? Has there been anything fun or exciting happening with you? Have you seen the Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny? Do let me know in the comments located below because I would love to hear your thoughts or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. I saw the new Harrison Ford movie just before coming home to Las Vegas, I love the new and last movie he will make in that series. I hope your new neighbours won’t be a pain in your backside going forward, Pooja. I despise it when my neighbour’s dog barks. Shut up!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I hope so too, my plan is to avoid them as much as possible. They seem annoying and I don’t want to get into a fight with them. Barking dogs are so annoying! One of my neighbours had dogs that constantly barked but luckily they moved.

  2. May your grandmother get well very soon! 🙏😇

Lately I only watch YouTube or One Piece anime. I feel like cinema is losing its inspiration, because they keep repeating the same stories in different movies.

  3. Sorry to hear about your grandma. 😔

Loud neighbors, or annoying neighbors in general, are very stressful to deal with. I feel you. Here’s hoping they get evicted. 😅

    1. Thanks. Unfortunately, people don’t really get evicted in Kenya that much. So probably not going to happen. But I just plan on avoiding them altogether and hoping we don’t have any issues. I’m used to bad neighbours, I’ve lived near drug dealers most of my life lol. So this isn’t too bad.

      1. That’s a good point, I forget how different Kenya likely is. Aside from princes who email me and need me to hold on to money for them (lol) you’re the only person I’ve talked to there. I’m always interested in different countries and their local culture but don’t get to talk about it much with my vanilla bean friends.

Somewhat related, I was writing you an email to update you on your books when my boss called and distracted me. So, it’s good you commented shortly after to remind me. 😅 I hope this is just because I’m busy and I’m not actually losing my mind permanently as I get older! Basically, today or tomorrow I’ll be sending them and will let you know the total. It doesn’t seem expensive so there’s really no rush on the costs; I’m rich now in my new job. (Not really but it makes the stress and no free time seem worth it when I say that out loud lol)

        1. At least you’ve met my friends, the princes who need you to send them money lol. I enjoy making friends from different countries too. I made some amazing friends when traveling in East Africa and we still keep in touch. It really is cool talking to people about their culture.

Lol, I love that your work is distracting you from your life 😅I super appreciate that, send whenever possible I’m really not in a big rush and I’ll just send you the money as soon as possible because I don’t like owing money 😅

          1. I’m the same way. I avoid borrowing anything as much as possible lol. This is a business transaction between two elite professionals though so it’s different 😅

  4. I saw the new Indiana Jones movie as well with 3 friends. As I said, “It was a nice experience but I have no need to ever see it again.” That is not what you want to say after seeing a movie! Harrison Ford is now too physically infirm to play this role. As a result, the action was largely left to the other 2 main characters… who were unlikable. They were supposed to be “edgy” but merely ended up being unethical.

    1. Yes, absolutely. It’s a good movie but not something I would watch again. I feel that way too, I think this is a good point to end the franchise since I don’t think Harrison Ford fits the role anymore.

  5. 🤔 First of all, I would like your grandmother to make a quick recovery.

New noisy neighbours (Maybe, they were holding a birthday party for someone).

Also, all of the quotes from Confucius are worth pondering deeply on.

It is nice to have you back, Pooja.

  6. Sorry to hear about your Grandma. I sympathize with having noisy neighbors. Years ago I had some who partied loudly into the wee hours, then fell asleep when I was getting up and ready for work. After a few times of asking them to turn down the music to no avail, I paid them back by blasting my stereo first thing in the morning. They got that message. I never had a problem with them again!

    1. Thank you. Yes, noisy neighbours are extremely annoying but not uncommon. I just hope this doesn’t happen every weekend. My family was saying that we should do that too and blast music as well if they continue to annoy us lol.

  7. Feeling for you. Hoping your grandmother’s health improves and that your new neighbors are not that loud again. The quote about silence reminds me of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lester Bangs (in “Almost Famous”) saying that silence is more compelling than most of his time’s rock music. Liking that these reminders make me consider Confucius to at least be (and/or be like) the Depeche Mode and the Hoffman as Lester Bangs of his time.

  8. Great Quotes Pooja. Oh I’m sorry about your grandpa. That’s sad and noisy neighbors are no fun. They better watch out or they’ll get the wrath of Pooja💞🌈. take good care❤️

  9. I hope your grandmother gets better. Hope those neighbors are more mindful of the noise level. I love the quotes. Makes me think on things which is a good thing.

  10. I hope and pray your grandmother feels better soon….

    Nani or dadi??

I read that there’s a new indiana Jones movie, but almost forgot about it.
I have become less aware of these new movies ever since I got Netflix subscription. I just watch whatever comes infront of me 😝.
I wanted to watch new transformer movie, but no time 😅.

Well I also feel there’s an old person inside me, because I have so many things that a person of my age won’t do.
Like having a fixed schedule, being very punctual, being mindful of what I eat, having a dislike towards social media and all 😅

I hope your neighbours calm down 😃

    1. My dadi. Thanks so much. She’s almost a hundred so of course health issue do happen.

I want to watch the new transformers too but busy as well.

Lol we’re both old now 😅

      1. Ohh I pray for her health life.

There are few other movies, but I am just busy watching anime….

Well, I have many habits that I feel an old person would do. But, I feel my mental health has improved with that.

Recently, someone told me I am old and I started considering myself old.
But then I tested myself with a workout and I realized I am still young from outside.
        haha
I will be 30 next year, but I feel 20
But my soul is 70 maybe

        1. Old people habits do actually do make us feel better. I feel better too now that I live like that. I’m closer now to 30 than to 20.

          1. I feel closer to 20 😛
I never experienced such energy when I was 20. Losing 25 kg helped me.

Otherwise I’m boring, I don’t like going out, don’t like partying, I avoid smoking, alcohol, I don’t stay up late night, I get up very early. Read books, made healthy boundaries with phone usage.

  11. Prayers for your grandma! I haven’t watched any Indiana Jones movies in years! Not really my cup of tea. Prayers also for you with your noisy neighbors. I hear you. We live in an apartment now and I really dislike it. Give me a house any day! If only I could afford one! No wonder people are doing the tiny house thing!

    1. Thanks so much! I love Indiana Jones but this wasn’t the best one for me. Yeah, apartments are tough to live in. You always have one or two annoying neighbours. Yeah, I want a tiny house too lol!

  12. Sorry to hear about your Nan. I wish her a speedy recovery.
Noisy neighbors.. mine pretebds to be a DJ until midnight. I bought a pair of headphones and left a note at his door. It has helped tremendously. 😂
Haven’t seen the Indiana Jones movie as yet. Gonna get that done this week.
    Happy Tuesday Pooja G. 🙏

    1. Thanks so much.

That’s so annoying. I have headphones too but I could literally still hear the music. So annoying ☹️
Let me know what you think of the movie.
      Happy Tuesday 😊

  13. Great quotes indeed conveying some universal truths!
I hope you will get over your depressive moods soon, as you have previously been doing.
My prayers for you and your grandmother. May God bless all of you with sound health!

  14. lovely quotes, Pooja. I especially like the first one 🤍✨

wishing your grandmother a speedy recovery and a better week ahead for you 🙏🤍✨

      1. Was my father’s which was my mother’s. He went away overnight and was going to leave her with some dry food, so I said I would go in and check on her. She was just brooding on a chair when I got there. Tortoiseshell so very contained and very selective.

  15. I hope your Grandmother gets well soon.

    The quotes are great.

I thought the de-aging looked strange in the movie, but overall I enjoyed it.

I once had a neighbour who liked to work on his car just outside my window with the heavy metal blasting. I dragged my 800-watt speaker to my window, put this album on, cranked it up, and went grocery shopping for an hour. He never played the music loud again. 🙂

    https://folkalley.com/album-review-hazel-dickens-and-alice-gerrard-reissues/

    1. Thanks so much.

Yeah, the de-aging was a little weird.

Wow, omg that’s crazy. Lol at least he learnt a lesson not to mess with you.

  16. Hi Pooja, so sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling great! It’s not nice having such loud neighbours. I know what it’s like when you don’t sleep well (I’ve got 3 kids!)

I’ve been great! I think for once in the last 7 years I am neither pregnant nor breastfeeding. My youngest is now 2, and I feel like I’m slowly getting my life back. It really is a major change having kids. I’m back at work, although I spend a lot of time questioning whether it’s worth me moving up the chain anymore (I’m in a management role). I don’t feel like it’s worth it anymore! I want to enjoy life. Life is too short!

    1. Thanks so much!

Wow, three kids one after the other does sound tough. It’s particularly difficult when they’re young. I’m glad you’re getting back to having your own life too. It’s important for parents to have a life of their own too. Yeah, life is short it’s better to make memories than working too much!

    1. That’s very annoying. Some neighbours have no care for those living besides them. I tried ear plugs but they didn’t help much. Hoping my noise cancelling headphones do the trick though.

        1. I used them today and they helped much more than ear plugs. Would definitely recommend investing in a pair of noise cancelling headphones.

  17. I have to single out the first quote. Silence is the key to a happy life if you ask me.

Hope your grandma will be alright 🌺

  18. Wishing a speedy recovery for your grandma, and future good health. Great quotes. I really enjoyed the dial of destiny, I was pleasantly surprised about which artifact they were going to use, but Raiders of the lost ark is my favorite. I was the one person that really liked the crystal skulls movie so I am not sure how strong my opinion is LOL.

    1. Thanks so much. I liked Crystal Skull too lol. I enjoyed this one but not as much as the older ones. I don’t know why, something was just missing for me in Dial Of Destiny.

  19. I love the wise quotes, Pooja. I am not a movie goer but I do like Harrison Ford. I agree it is time to retire and wish him the best with his new movie. We live in an apartment complex and our next door neighbors have a dog that barks most of the day. Totally annoying – sigh.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the quotes. Yes, as much as I love Harrison Ford I think roles like this one with lots of action aren’t for him anymore. We had neighbours with loud dogs but luckily they moved. It’s definitely really annoying especially when you’re trying to sleep.

  20. Yeah… My neighbors always talk across my front window, play loud music and can be generally annoying. They’re going to do it no matter what I say and Police can’t intervene in community squabbles so I’ve come to just put up with it as is… Glad you enjoyed the movie. I saw the previews and thought he looked old, so I didn’t bother; figuring it will come round to TV in time anyway.

    1. That sounds annoying but yeah there’s little that can be done in most cases.
He definitely looks quite old now and I feel like this role isn’t for him anymore. It’s a good movie but I think it’s time to end it here.

    1. When you have depression there are times when it’s worse than most days. During an episode you experience symptoms of depression or in some cases stronger/harsher symptoms of depression.

  21. Thank you for the quotes. I am so sorry to hear about your grandma, your new noisy neighbors, and the depressive episode. That is a lot to contend with. I’m glad you got to see the new Indiana Jones movies. I’ve never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies. I do not know why. Maybe because I was watching the million Rocky movies. lol. jk.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the quotes. Yes, it’s been tough but going for the movie was a nice break. If you ever get some time off watching the Rocky movies I would very much recommend Indiana Jones lol.

  22. I’m sorry about your partying neighbors. I have neighbors who have turned out to be noisy, too, loud enough to become and set off other stressors in me. I know my problem does not fix yours, but at least you know someone else knows in a relating way.

More importantly, I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother. Of course, I pray she heals. I also pray you are somehow encouraged.

I’m glad you took a break for the movies. I think that’s what they’re for and why I enjoy them.

I’m still recovering from surgery. It’s taking a long time. I guess it’s supposed to be.

    Please take care.

    1. Sorry to hear you have noisy neighbours too. I think it’s somewhat unavoidable when living in an apartment. Luckily though, they haven’t been that noisy throughout the week. It’s just on the weekends when they’re extremely noisy.

Thanks so much. I wish you a more speedy recovery from the surgery. Take care too.

  23. I am sorry to hear about your grandma. We must be riding the same wavelength because I am also riding a depressive episode. Sorry your loud neighbors like to get a party started. I like to get naps started.

    1. Sorry to hear you’re going through that too. Depressive episodes are incredibly difficult. I am hoping you feel better soon and sending some positive vibes your way.

  24. Hello, Pooja! Wow, I’m sorry to read about the tough time you’ve been having. Hopefully the people next door will calm it down and be neighbourly. I’m doing well, mood has been really good and I’m still just enjoying the summer, cycling, music, streaming TV and blogging. Be well.

    1. Hey! The neighbours aren’t the best but it’s gotten better this week. Fingers crossed it’ll remain peaceful. Glad you’re doing well!

  25. Loved the quotes! And life isn’t at its best at the moment lol. The only thing worth looking forward to is the weekly episode updates of my favourite animes. That’s about it. Also, wishing your grandma a speedy recovery!❤️‍🩹

  26. Hi Pooja,

I have such neighbours, here, beside my room.
We reside on the first floor of our hostel.
This hostel belongs the Social Science (History, Political Sc., Economics and Psychology etc.) faculty.

    Having almost, 190+ rooms, double the population/students (380+), you can’t guess “who’s feeling romantic, happy or religious etc.”;
there’s ‘an uncertainty’, anyone can play any song at any (sound) frequency level.

It seems crazy to share a room, indirectly, with so many people.😂

    I hope you’re fine.
Or find a way to deal correctly (and effectively) with your problems.

    Maintain a regular sleeping routine.
    (Am I maintaining? No, actually.
    It’s hard.)

“Everything has a beauty but not everyone sees it.”♥️

      1. It’s unexpected. They can play (annoying) local songs on the speakers, fully loud.

(If you enjoy hearing them why can’t you limit them with yourself?)

        1. Yeah, I never understand why people listen to music loudly. Like just keep it at a normal level not everyone wants to hear it.

  27. I’m outspoken!
The problem with ‘the beautiful side’ is that you appreciate and love whatever comes to your way.

The person in front of you might not like (or take no interest in) it.

A kind of balanced and neutral point of view is required.
(You’re supposed to ‘take back’ your words, sometimes.)

However, not appreciating the beauty is worse than criticising or appreciating it.

    1. I agree, not appreciating the crime is a real crime. Being outspoken is not a bad thing as long as you’re careful with it:)

      1. ‘Appreciating the crime’? I guess it must be a saying/an idiom.

The day I’ll face “a disaster” or get ignored by everyone, completely — I’ll not an outspoken person anymore.

But I’m aware and informed about when to speak & when not, and how.
‘Incomplete knowledge of the language’ cause problems sometimes.

(Did I say anything annoying to you, ever?)

        1. I don’t think you’ve ever said anything annoying to me. But I don’t get annoyed easily anyway. I think as long as you know when to speak up and when to stay quiet, you’ll be fine.

  28. I cannot wait to see the new Indiana movie although I agree he really needs to retire. I really hope your neighbours having a party was a one off. There is nothing worse than neighbours always having parties 🙈🙈🙈🙈

    1. It’s still a really good movie but yeah he’s a little too old for the role now. The neighbours haven’t been too bad during the week but let’s see how the weekend goes 🤷🏻‍♀️

  29. The beauty of silence is not always seen or noticed. Roads seem countless when you are trying to pick a destination. Happiness is so elusive despite all the advice we have at hand, once you quit chasing it , it may actually find you… Lately I have been chasing a dream that keeps getting further and further, so I am sitting here in silence trying to pick a new road to a new destination. Learning to be meek and humble is never easy, at least for me… I am going to keep knocking at the door, someone might open eventually.

  30. My hopes for your grandma’s speedy, full recovery; that you’ll chase away that bad case of the blues/blahs. I’ve been absent from the movie houses since the pandemic; actually before that, seeing how some Stateside moviegoers pack more “heat” than the bad guys up on the silver screen.

A few interpretations of Confucius: [1] When silence is a true friend, what might that say of your new loud neighbors? [2] Savor and favor what transpires while traveling thru life, it might be more meaningful and joyful than what occurs upon arrival. [3] Considering the, from time immemorial, human suffering / oceans of battlefield spilt blood it’d have been better to say, “NEARLY everything has beauty…”

    1. Thank you so much. I’m doing better and hopefully my grandmother will recover too. Wow, that’s scary and I understand wanting to avoid the cinemas for that reason.

I am someone who really loves silence which I think is why the noise annoys me more than others. I think the best thing to do would be to talk to the neighbours if it continues. And true, nearly everything has beauty. Some things are just not beautiful (rather the opposite) and that’s part of life.

  31. I have been busy with more online writing work where I am learning a lot about social media marketing. But that means delay in reading and managing my blog. Thank God the weekends here.
Dealing with loud neighbours can be a pain in the …
I hope they don’t have parties more often. Take care, Pooja.

  32. Me too. Me too. I love quietness and cannot tolerate noise at all. I even hate vacuum cleaner and lawn mower sound. LOL. And cats are definitely my favorite since they are usually quieter than other pets. And I am a Harrison Ford fan too no matter how old he is.

    1. Same, I really enjoy silence. Harrison Ford is amazing and is still great in shows and movies but I think this may have been too much action for someone his age. He was barely in the movie.

  33. I really pray that your grandmother is doing better. I haven’t yet seen the new Indie movie but it is true that Harrison Ford is getting up there in years. As for neighbors, we live in a house but our next door neighbor is obsessed with his lawn. He waters it when it’s not necessary and then has to cut the grass like twice a week. And many times when he decides to cut the grass, it seems to be when my sister and I are trying to watch a movie, go figure. But otherwise, life can get crazy sometimes.

    1. Thanks so much. It seems we’re all stuck with pesky neighbours unfortunately. Mine had another party but luckily it wasn’t too loud. Hopefully they won’t be too much of a bother.
