Is It Opposite Day Already?

I have very infamously complained about WordPress’s customer care and their treatment of bloggers. I’ve had some far from great experiences. And as always, I was quite vocal about it. And many bloggers know what I’m talking about with this. Many of us have experienced a lack of care from WordPress. But this week, I am about to say something I never thought I would. I spoke to multiple Happiness Engineers recently and they were all incredibly helpful and went out of their way to help me. One even gave me SEO advice! And that got me thinking, is it opposite week or something?

And this was not the only incident. So much has happened this week where I expect one thing and the absolute opposite happens.

Anyway, it’s been sort of a weird week especially because it started out with my lipstick poisoning. But I thought that since I always complain when I get no help from the Happiness Engineers it’s only fair that I talk about it when I get good service too. Maybe after all this time we actually got through to them about their awful service and they are going to try harder to do better. Although after being on WordPress for almost a decade that seems less than likely. But I mean, crazier things have happened…

    I’m happy to hear that the WP support team is actually being supportive to you. My experience with them (mostly) has been good only and my week kind of sucks. Anyways I’m happy for you, although I don’t understand if you’re using the term lipstick poisoning in a sentence only or there was an actual lipstick poisoning!?

    I actually often feel very good about myself and I tend not to flap my mouth without having done a little bit of due diligence at least… so from the feedback I regularly receive from the surrounding environment, and the weaker open mouths, I am nearly always in opposite week.

    I think it’s a sort of “opposite” week for me too. I came home for vacation thinking i wouldn’t go out the whole week, but I have been visiting my local bookstore and just enjoy my evening there with a cup of tea!

    First off, it’s good to know things are going well for you, that’s amazing.

    Second, you know that thing they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth? lol best thing to do is to enjoy all the good as it comes. Soon we will face new challenges; a little exciting and a little anxiety inducing to be honest lol

    It’s nice that you also took the time to mention when the Happiness Engineers have been helpful. That was pretty fair and cool of you to do. One recently helped me with a bug on my account that removed the name of everyone who had commented on my posts. It was such a swift, efficient and helpful process.

        Maybe they are putting more resources into fixing your glitches because they see you as a prominent “influencer” and now maybe they actually want to make you “happy.” They don’t want to lose the “happy” brand. Maybe part of the problem has been that they live in California which is fantasy-land which is now experiencing out of control crime which is spreading to rich and middle-class areas. Maybe the workers have withdrawn into their bunkers and happy places so that they feel secure enough to focus on their work. Or maybe they’re migrated to safer states and work remotely either physically or mentally.
        Anyway, I’m glad you have benefited from it. And I suppose you’ve helped the “happiness engineers” be happy themselves. A happiness contagion is a hard thing to spread in the middle of a war zone of glitches.
        But the thing I don’t understand is why they don’t do what advertising agencies do and bring in ordinary people “off-the-street” to do product testing. Sit them at tables with fresh computers and say “make yourself a web-site with our product.” And then they should watch them struggle and make mistakes. And keep asking “What’s not clear?” And they can observe the mistakes ordinary people make. And (with permission) they can see exactly where the people clicked when they made mistakes. [and for God’s sake, don’t do a test in California– no need for crazy optimists and utopians, idealists, and software geniuses. ] (Maybe they can fly to Kenya and have lunch with you, and the guys at the Ostrich place can try to make a website from scratch)

    As for those Happiness Engineers, I think they’re awesome. I’ve always had good experiences with them. That doesn’t mean all my complaints get resolved, but the people are for real: that has been my experience. I’m so happy it worked for you this week and like I said, I hope it continues.     My experience with a ‘Happiness Engineer’ was nowhere near as good. My traffic dropped overnight to a sixth of what it was. At the same time spam completely disappeared (usually about 200 a day). I figured something must have changed. My happiness Engineer (sounds like a Sci-fi movie) told me it was just fluctuations. What bullshit!!

      That’s so annoying, but I think a lot of people saw a drop in their traffic overnight when Blaze was first introduced. My theory is that they decreased/limited traffic so that people would be forced to use their advertising services.

      Oh and as an aside, I’ve had to reconstruct my bin storage, been chased by a wasp and had to give the dog an impromptu bath after he rolled in some fox mess. Still not the worst week but it could definitely be better lol.

          I read yesterday that you can get fake wasp nests which apparently deter them so I’m going to try them out, I’ve also got a citronella spray that I just need to remember to use. I got stung in the mouth once by a wasp so yeah we’re not exactly friends either lol.

    Most people only mention bad service so I try to point out good service too. Glad you’re on the same page, I’m sure happiness engineers do their best in many cases. They just work for a bad company lol.

      Yeah, it’s true. Many people like pointing out the bad but there needs to be a balance. I agree, I think many Happiness Engineers are really nice and try to help (except one specific one who was so mean to me may he rot) but some of these issues are beyond what they can help with. And they needs to have more HE’s in general so they can solve issues faster.

        I was out of town all weekend, so I didn’t keep up with WordPress at all! That’s crazy to me that someone would have the gall to be rude to not only a customer but in WRITING, lol. I’ve learned through my decades of work experience to never put anything in writing that could get you in trouble. 😅 I don’t really follow that advice on my blog though.

    I’m not sure I’m having an opposite week (this week), though I’m glad yours has included some good things happening for you. WordPress continues to be for me what is the usual slugfest after the usual update. Waiting for the next of each. In my own life this week, I’ve been preoccupied more than I like with medical things, though at the same time I’ve met with positive and knowledgeable medical people. So it ain’t all bad. I hope you have a really pleasant weekend.

    I am having an opposite week, as well. We received an Amazon package a couple of days ago, not addressed to us but our address was on it. Turns out is a scam. The purchase amount appeared on a charge that we don’t use for Amazon purchases. So, I reported it to Amazon as a suspicous and fradulent transaction. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

      Wow, how odd. Recently, someone tried to hack my Amazon account but they solved it quite fast. I hope your issue is resolved too and you’re refunded the amount. In my experience the Amazon customer care is very good.

        I was unaware it was a scam until read more about it in the Amazon site. It is referred to as “Brushing”. When a customer receives a package they didn’t order, it may be a scam called “brushing”. “Brushing” scams occur when bad actors send packages to publicly available names and addresses. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon.

    Man, what a week, you are spot on, Pooja, traveling across the Pacific was of course a pain in the rear, i mean sitting for so many hours is fun /s.
    I new it was not going to be a walk in the park, still… My biggest frustration was social media and messaging apps not working in PRC. I had a VPN and was using wifi , nothing worked including Google and YouTube. I thought I would lose my mind sooner than later, but you know what, WP worked which totally made my day. Now I know that the trick is using my data and VPN, with this combo everything works, even Instagram. Now I’m saved, luckily my phone worked all the time without any issues. It was totally the opposite week, I usually have issues with my phone NOT calling and WP not working.

      Yeah, I can imagine it’s quite a long flight. And yes, data helps get past those restrictions. That’s what my cousins did in India where TikTok is banned. I guess many of us are having a bit of an opposite week!

Well, this week is same old same old for me. That’s the problem. Life is boring and sometimes people do irrational things or self defeating things just to get out of the boredom.
