Is It Opposite Week Already?

Is It Opposite Day Already?

I have very infamously complained about WordPress’s customer care and their treatment of bloggers. I’ve had some far from great experiences. And as always, I was quite vocal about it. And many bloggers know what I’m talking about with this. Many of us have experienced a lack of care from WordPress. But this week, I am about to say something I never thought I would. I spoke to multiple Happiness Engineers recently and they were all incredibly helpful and went out of their way to help me. One even gave me SEO advice! And that got me thinking, is it opposite week or something?

And this was not the only incident. So much has happened this week where I expect one thing and the absolute opposite happens.

Anyway, it’s been sort of a weird week especially because it started out with my lipstick poisoning. But I thought that since I always complain when I get no help from the Happiness Engineers it’s only fair that I talk about it when I get good service too. Maybe after all this time we actually got through to them about their awful service and they are going to try harder to do better. Although after being on WordPress for almost a decade that seems less than likely. But I mean, crazier things have happened…

Have you guys ever experienced something like this? Are you also experiencing opposite week? Or am I just losing my mind? Let me know in the comments section located below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Very cool!
I don’t know if I’d call our week ‘opposite’ here but it’s been an unusual one to say the least.
    Thanks for sharing, hun!

    1. Thank you! Hmm very interesting, I guess we’re both having an unusual week.

      1. My pleasure! And at least it’s never boring?

        1. Haha true!

  2. Life is a tide, always coming in and going out. Water goes up, then back down. Maybe Automattic has decided to stop ignoring us, there huge database of websites…

    1. I think it’s because such a large number of bloggers have left and they’ve probably seen a decrease in profit from that. Since what they really care about it money.

      1. I have no problem with them losing some revenue… wake up, WP!

        1. Same here, it’s their fault for not listening to their users.

          1. Yea! Have a good weekend, Pooja! ❤️

            1. You too! 🥰

              1. 🥰🥰

  3. Sorry, nothing good has happened on the WP side of things for me. Glad you are getting the good end of the stick this time around though 🙂

    1. Sorry to hear that and thank you! Usually I have bad experiences too but it’s been surprisingly good this week.

  4. Glad things have turned around for you, it was a long time coming! Keep your chin up, get your rest and keep hydrated now that you’ve shed copious tears of joy!

    1. Thanks so much!

  5. Congratulations on opposite week! Unfortunately my week has been pretty hum-drum.

    1. Thanks and sorry to hear that, hopefully next week will be better for you!

  6. Pooja, it is always good hearing from you. I hate you have been experiencing issues on WordPress. So far I have not experience any.

    1. Thanks so much and sorry for the late reply, your comment was stuck in my spam.

      1. No problem. I am suddenly finding others in Spam too, must check daily now.

        1. Yeah, I have to check my spam every other day too these days.

  7. I lost your like button? LOL.

    1. Let the record show that’s because I accidentally switched it off and not because of WP 😅 It’s back now!

  8. Yay! So happy for you!

    1. Thank you so much!

  9. What/who is happiness engineer?? Sorry I am dumb.

    1. The customer care of WordPress

    2. You’re not dumb, don’t worry. Happiness Engineers is what WordPress calls their customer care people.

  10. It is the opposite week
As you are not whinning, I’m shocked and concerned now. 😨

Good thing, things are working out for you. My issue is still unsolved. I’ve stopped trying.

Maybe it’s a good week for wp, so they decided to help you finally 😛

    1. Yes, shockingly I am doing the opposite of whining today 😅

If they’ve stopped trying keep bugging them till they fix it. Start a new ticket via the chat option.

      1. I stated the issue thrice.
Everytime new guy respond and then I need to explain it again 🤷🏻‍♂️

They are saying it’s the issue with my browser. I’ve tried multiple browsers but it’s still the same 😐

        1. Just ignore that thread and start a new one?

          1. Hmmm
Need to do that I guess

            1. Yeah, I did that and that’s when I got a better HE.

  11. I’m happy to hear that the WP support team is actually being supportive to you. My experience with them (mostly) has been good only and my week kind of sucks. Anyways I’m happy for you, although I don’t understand if you’re using the term lipstick poisoning in a sentence only or there was an actual lipstick poisoning!?

    1. Thanks so much. Glad you’ve mostly had good experiences and sorry about your week. Hopefully the next one will be better. No, I actually got poisoned by an old lipstick on Monday.

  12. I actually often feel very good about myself and I tend not to flap my mouth without having done a little bit of due diligence at least… so from the feedback I regularly receive from the surrounding environment, and the weaker open mouths, I am nearly always in opposite week.

    1. Haha well, opposite week isn’t a bad thing at all.

      1. I love it at the start of the A Team (with Liam Neeson) when BA says to Hannibal… what is this? Opposite week?

        1. Haven’t seen that but sounds really good.

          1. They ham it up

  13. In fact, several psychiatrists have even conceded to having an oppositional complex… your boy is flying out of the machine 🤣🫡

    1. Keep doing you 💪🏽

      1. Another cracker (kraken?) in that department mate… to do with the due diligence I did the other week for a colab on playtesting for WIP2. The guy was someone I used to know, and it linked back several other things current for the crew… Saturn in Pisces, and this is the return

  14. I think it’s a sort of “opposite” week for me too. I came home for vacation thinking i wouldn’t go out the whole week, but I have been visiting my local bookstore and just enjoy my evening there with a cup of tea!

    1. How interesting and that sounds so lovely and relaxing!

  15. First off, it’s good to know things are going well for you, that’s amazing.

Second, you know that thing they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth? lol best thing to do is to enjoy all the good as it comes. Soon we will face new challenges; a little exciting and a little anxiety inducing to be honest lol

My week has been a mix, but reading posts like yours helps me get out of my own head.

    1. Thanks so much. I’ve been doing just that and trying to enjoy the good while I can.

Glad to hear that and I hope your week is better next week.

  16. It’s only fair to share when people are helpful too. I’m glad you’ve had good experiences this week.

    1. Absolutely, if I’m going to share the bad I should do the same for the good.

      1. Exactly. 😍

  17. Glad to hear things are working out well for you this week. Happy Weekend.

    1. Thanks so much. Have a lovely weekend.

  18. Glad to hear that you are having a lot of positive things happening to you in this week. Though, the start was not good.
Anyway, enjoy yourself and have a fabulous weekend ahead.

    1. Thanks so much, yeah the week improved quite a bit. Have a great weekend too.

      1. You’re always welcome! Thanks for weekend wishes.

        1. You’re very welcome too!

  19. It’s nice that you also took the time to mention when the Happiness Engineers have been helpful. That was pretty fair and cool of you to do. One recently helped me with a bug on my account that removed the name of everyone who had commented on my posts. It was such a swift, efficient and helpful process.

    1. Thanks. Yeah, I thought if I was going to write about the bad stuff it’s only fair to write about the good experiences too.
That’s wonderful, so glad you had a good experience too.

  20.     Maybe they are putting more resources into fixing your glitches because they see you as a prominent “influencer” and now maybe they actually want to make you “happy.” They don’t want to lose the “happy” brand. Maybe part of the problem has been that they live in California which is fantasy-land which is now experiencing out of control crime which is spreading to rich and middle-class areas. Maybe the workers have withdrawn into their bunkers and happy places so that they feel secure enough to focus on their work. Or maybe they’re migrated to safer states and work remotely either physically or mentally.
Anyway, I’m glad you have benefited from it. And I suppose you’ve helped the “happiness engineers” be happy themselves. A happiness contagion is a hard thing to spread in the middle of a war zone of glitches.
But the thing I don’t understand is why they don’t do what advertising agencies do and bring in ordinary people “off-the-street” to do product testing. Sit them at tables with fresh computers and say “make yourself a web-site with our product.” And then they should watch them struggle and make mistakes. And keep asking “What’s not clear?” And they can observe the mistakes ordinary people make. And (with permission) they can see exactly where the people clicked when they made mistakes. [and for God’s sake, don’t do a test in California– no need for crazy optimists and utopians, idealists, and software geniuses. ] (Maybe they can fly to Kenya and have lunch with you, and the guys at the Ostrich place can try to make a website from scratch)

    1. I don’t know, I think a lot of the HE are in other countries. Most like global south countries.

  21. Opposite week–what a glorious concept you coined. I like it. I hope this opposite week continues every week for you.
As for those Happiness Engineers, I think they’re awesome. I’ve always had good experiences with them. That doesn’t mean all my complaints get resolved, but the people are for real: that has been my experience. I’m so happy it worked for you this week and like I said, I hope it continues. Blessing you, dear Pooja. Stay sweet.

    1. Thanks so much, hope so too.

I’m so glad you’ve had good experiences with them. I had some good and more recently some bad experiences. But this week they were great and very helpful.
      Have a wonderful weekend.

  22. 👍👍👍Very nice, pooja

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  23. My experience with a ‘Happiness Engineer’ was nowhere near as good. My traffic dropped overnight to a sixth of what it was. At the same time spam completely disappeared (usually about 200 a day). I figured something must have changed. My happiness Engineer (sounds like a Sci-fi movie) told me it was just fluctuations. What bullshit!!

    1. That’s so annoying, but I think a lot of people saw a drop in their traffic overnight when Blaze was first introduced. My theory is that they decreased/limited traffic so that people would be forced to use their advertising services.

  24. I’m so sorry Pooja, I read your post and my brain just goes “oh honey, nobody ever complains about getting a good service 😏”. I’m so sorry! I’ll just go hang my head in shame now 😂

I’m glad things are on the up for your relationship with WordPress though. Hopefully it stays that way 😊

    1. Oh and as an aside, I’ve had to reconstruct my bin storage, been chased by a wasp and had to give the dog an impromptu bath after he rolled in some fox mess. Still not the worst week but it could definitely be better lol.

      1. Omg that’s awful. Especially the wasp thing. I’m so scared of them and hate when they’re anywhere near me.

        1. I read yesterday that you can get fake wasp nests which apparently deter them so I’m going to try them out, I’ve also got a citronella spray that I just need to remember to use. I got stung in the mouth once by a wasp so yeah we’re not exactly friends either lol.

          1. How interesting, that may be a good idea.

    2. Haha omg 😅

Thanks and hopefully this is a sign that they’re trying to improve things. It may be too optimistic of me to assume that but maybe just maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

      1. I will keep my fingers crossed for you 🙂

  25. Most people only mention bad service so I try to point out good service too. Glad you’re on the same page, I’m sure happiness engineers do their best in many cases. They just work for a bad company lol.

    1. Yeah, it’s true. Many people like pointing out the bad but there needs to be a balance. I agree, I think many Happiness Engineers are really nice and try to help (except one specific one who was so mean to me may he rot) but some of these issues are beyond what they can help with. And they needs to have more HE’s in general so they can solve issues faster.

      1. I was out of town all weekend, so I didn’t keep up with WordPress at all! That’s crazy to me that someone would have the gall to be rude to not only a customer but in WRITING, lol. I’ve learned through my decades of work experience to never put anything in writing that could get you in trouble. 😅 I don’t really follow that advice on my blog though.

        1. I know, they were so insanely rude I thought he was kidding lol. It was a crazy experience. Exactly, even personally I never have anything incriminating in writing. That’s such a bad idea. Especially when it comes to customer care. I mean, blogging is one thing but doing that at work is crazy 😅

  26. I’m not sure I’m having an opposite week (this week), though I’m glad yours has included some good things happening for you. WordPress continues to be for me what is the usual slugfest after the usual update. Waiting for the next of each. In my own life this week, I’ve been preoccupied more than I like with medical things, though at the same time I’ve met with positive and knowledgeable medical people. So it ain’t all bad. I hope you have a really pleasant weekend.

    1. Yeah, I don’t love the updates and they are causing issues for me with WP too but I’m just happy that most of the major issues are being fixed.
Sorry to hear that but glad you’ve gotten some good help. I hope you feel better soon. Have a lovely weekend.

  27. I’m glad you’ve had some good things happening, Pooja. My book release has been the highlight of this week, but the downside has been my father-in-law going into hospice. It’s been a hard week transitioning and figuring out all the legal stuff while making sure he is not in pain. Anyway, I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead. 🤗

    1. Thanks so much. Sorry to hear about your FIL, that must be really difficult for you. But congratulations on your wonderful book 🤗

      1. Thanks, Pooja, on both counts. ❤️🤗

        1. My pleasure 🥰

  28. It’s good that after all this time you finally received assistance. I hope WP maintain or even improve their excellent customer service. Good luck, Pooja.

    1. Thanks and I hope so too. They’ll lose a lot of users if they don’t keep improving in the future. Hopefully they will.

  29. I am having an opposite week, as well. We received an Amazon package a couple of days ago, not addressed to us but our address was on it. Turns out is a scam. The purchase amount appeared on a charge that we don’t use for Amazon purchases. So, I reported it to Amazon as a suspicous and fradulent transaction. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

    1. Wow, how odd. Recently, someone tried to hack my Amazon account but they solved it quite fast. I hope your issue is resolved too and you’re refunded the amount. In my experience the Amazon customer care is very good.

      1. I was unaware it was a scam until read more about it in the Amazon site. It is referred to as “Brushing”. When a customer receives a package they didn’t order, it may be a scam called “brushing”. “Brushing” scams occur when bad actors send packages to publicly available names and addresses. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon.

        1. Oh I see, I hadn’t heard of brushing before. But yes, hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.

  30. Yes it must be opposite week! I’ve has great help with the engineers and money that I wasn’t expecting.

    1. Oh wow, must be opposite week for us both!

  31. Man, what a week, you are spot on, Pooja, traveling across the Pacific was of course a pain in the rear, i mean sitting for so many hours is fun /s.
I new it was not going to be a walk in the park, still… My biggest frustration was social media and messaging apps not working in PRC. I had a VPN and was using wifi , nothing worked including Google and YouTube. I thought I would lose my mind sooner than later, but you know what, WP worked which totally made my day. Now I know that the trick is using my data and VPN, with this combo everything works, even Instagram. Now I’m saved, luckily my phone worked all the time without any issues. It was totally the opposite week, I usually have issues with my phone NOT calling and WP not working.

    1. Yeah, I can imagine it’s quite a long flight. And yes, data helps get past those restrictions. That’s what my cousins did in India where TikTok is banned. I guess many of us are having a bit of an opposite week!

  32. Haha, good for you. Probably WP has learned about your complaints and tried to do something to improve the service. So life is good and good things do happen and dreams do come true. Well, this week is same old same old for me. That’s the problem. Life is boring and sometimes people do irrational things or self defeating things just to get out of the boredom.

    1. Haha let’s hope so. Yes, life can be so repetitive sometimes. I hate that so much.

  33. Hope you’re feeling better from the lipstick. Never heard of that before but there are lots of new things out there I haven’t heard of.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m fine now. I think that particular lipstick is spoilt or has something I’m allergic to because that’s the only one that has made me feel so ill.

      1. That sounds dreadful. Having allergies to stuff myself, I know how sick one can become.

        1. Yeah, allergies can be really difficult to deal with.

  34. Good to hear it is opposite in a good way ! My week has been unremarkably usual to be honest …

    1. Thanks so much! Sorry to hear that but usual isn’t a bad thing.

      1. Usual isn’t bad at all. And welcome 🙂

  35. i guess this goes to show that there are some helpful people on WP, or finally must be trying their best, given the previous experiences you had. Either way thats one opposite day for sure.

    1. Yeah, I think there are some genuinely helpful Happiness Engineers too.

  36. I really haven’t had that much trouble with WordPress.

    1. That’s really good, hopefully you won’t experience any issues in the future.

    1. Thank you

  38. You are not losing your mind. Sometimes things just work out that way. Also sometimes the right person just might be the one to give someone the help they really need to get things resolved. It was just your time, you have been through a lot lately. Thanks for sharing. Stay positive and have a great week.

    1. Yeah, I think sometimes life gives you a win. And I’m happy to take it. Thanks and have a great week ahead too.
