What’s Up With Me?

I had an odd dream last night and wanted to share it with you. Well, technically this morning because it was the last dream I had before I woke up. I dreamt I was sitting on a bed and looking out of the window. I looked down and saw some cats and dogs playing in the garden. When I looked up I saw a raven tapping at my window. I knew it was hungry and was friendly. So I opened my window and fed the raven. And from that moment I knew that the raven and I were friends now and it would protect me. I don’t know how I knew it would protect me but I just knew. Isn’t that a very interesting dream? And the fact that it happened in October is so fascinating too since ravens are a popular addition in a lot of spooky things.

Recently, I’ve been going through a lot of negative stuff and I think this is a sign that someone/something/the universe is trying to protect me. And hopefully that things are going to get better. Or maybe it’s time to start feeding the crows since we don’t have ravens here. Did you know that a group of ravens is called an unkindness? Not related to the dream, just an interesting fact I learnt today.

Have you had any weird dreams recently? How would you interpret the dream I had? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Most of the time I don’t remember my dreams. And when I do, they tend to be wicked busy dreams, like I’m at work something. I could do without remembering those 😀

    1. Lol, that’s fair. I don’t remember a lot of my dreams either but this one was weird enough that it stuck with me.

      1. “Dreams are fleeting ideas *&* if you don’t write ’em down at first awaking they will forever escape your memory, but dreams captured timely can be polished, turned into content and make you $wealthy$.”_-Van Prince

  2. The raven is an old and wise friend, it’s a very good dream, it looks like you are slowly but surely gaining confidence. Things are getting better even if the progress is glacially slow. Do you agree?
As for the quote, it’s all about having a dream yet the dream has it’s roots in the past and not in the future, I strongly believe that the foundation of our soul’s temple is just as important as the mission it was made for.

    1. I think so too, I felt euphoric when I woke up so I think it was definitely a good dream. It could be that my life is taking a turn for the better.
I agree really strongly with you on that, the foundation of our soul is vital.

  3. “Nowhere going so call friends I’m not going back *&*if I unintentional see you it wil be through the rearview mirror as I’m pushing my Benz traveling forward.”_-Van Prince

    1. Really great quote, thanks for sharing it. We should keep pushing forward no matter what.

      1. “poetic creation never stop,*&* it ain’t over for a writer until she/he says so.”_-Van Prince

        1. Very true.

          1. U are extraordinary

            1. Thanks. I think we all are in our own way.

              1. Talent is a gift form God and God endowed you with talent and God don’t make mistakes!1

  4. Ravens are normally messengers for the otherside.. could be a messege was to be received? As for Ella she was the queen of skat, and a wise woman. Lobed her music, grew up listening to a lot of blues from a record collection that some one in the neighbor hood threw out.

    1. That could be a possibility. I think it could be message or that a message will be coming soon.
I love her too. I only recently started listening to blues. As a kid I almost only listened to hip hop or rock but as I’ve gotten older I’ve been getting into other genres too.

  5. The raven is a very smart problem solver. It can also recognize human faces.

    1. Apparently, they can speak a little too which is a little scary but also fascinating.

      1. Yes, I have heard different birds that can mimic sounds such as electronics, robots, and people talking.

        1. Yes, ravens do that amongst other birds. Crows do too.

  6. During “Shrad” in india
We revere our ancestors and pray (puja)
    We offer them food.
    Now it is believed that
Food given to cow, a dog and a crow symbolize good given to पितृ।
It is believed that if there’s a crow, then your ancestors are near you.
    It’s auspicious.
So seeing a crow could indeed mean that your ancestors are with you and protecting you.

    Ancestors = पितृ

Have navratri, you celebrate, do Puja?

    1. I meant
      Happy navratri
      🤦🏻‍♂️

      Give me the edit option

      1. Lol ikr we need that edit option asap 😅

        1. You do something about it

          Please 🥺

    2. Yes, my mum was telling me the same thing. Although the kind of Indian I am, we don’t do that as we have different traditions but she was telling me that Hindu’s usually believe that crows are a symbol of someone who has passed away communicating with you.
Let’s hope so, I need all the protection I can get lol.
Yes, we do celebrate Navratri in Nairobi. It’s a huge thing here and my cousins all go for it.

      1. Seeing crows here is now days very rare
        I haven’t seen it in ages 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes you do need protection. You need a Puja for yourself.

Do you also play Dandia, garba? There’s gujrati blood in you afterall 😅

My family just do the puja during these 9 days
        And Aarti.

        1. Haha yes I used to do garba when I was very young and was forced to but not anymore 😅

Pooja’s are good, they’re a good way to focus on the spiritual side of things.

          1. Pooja is indeed very good 😊

  7. That is indeed an interesting dream with strong symbolism. ✨

    1. Thanks so much, yeah it’s one of the more interesting dreams I’ve had recently 💭

      1. You are welcome, Pooja. Dreams are fascinating.

  8. Dreams represent our memories, our hopes and our fears.
What you may have experience is a response to bad stuff happening and the raven is a sigh that things will get better.
    As for Ella’s quote: 100%

    1. Yeah, that’s how I interpreted the dream too. I’ve been having a tough time recently and this could be a sign that things will get better.

      1. Fingers crossed for you Pooja, sending hugs and understanding xx

        1. Thanks, I really appreciate that.

  9. An interesting post! I had a weird dream recently though I didn’t remember it… just woke up with that feeling of lingering strangeness. I like the quote; it’s a good motivational I see being about setting one’s sights further down the road.

Also, I recently read another blog that mentioned ravens (and the term “unkindness”) so yeah, it must be an October thing. Here’s hoping your interpretation of the dream is accurate!

    1. Yeah, sometimes the emotions we feel in the dreams stay with us for a few minutes even if we don’t remember the dream.

Very interesting, with Halloween around the corner I think this is the time to shine for ravens lol. Hope so too!

  10. If I recall correctly, God sent ravens to feed the prophet Elijah when he was depressed and had ran away and hid in a cave.

    1. Sounds very GOT like, are you gonna develop a 3rd eye?

      1. Who says I haven’t developed a third eye already? 😜👁️

    2. That’s really interesting. I think ravens can be a very strong ally to humans.

  11. Its strange but we only see dreams when we are tense or sad! its the inner feelings that we see half awake. That is the reason they leave you wondering!

    1. That’s true, we tend to have more vivid dreams when stressed out. I guess it’s a way of processing our feelings.

  12. I like the positivity of this quote.
It’s an interesting dream. I never can remember my dreams after waking up.

    1. Thanks so much. I used to remember all my dreams as I wrote them down but these days I don’t do that so I rarely remember them. But this one was interesting enough that I remembered it.

      1. You’re welcome! Writing them down is a good idea.

  13. Dreams can be mysterious and symbolic. The image of the raven is intriguing, and it’s often associated with various interpretations, like wisdom or transformation. It’s wonderful that you see it as a positive sign during a challenging time.

    1. That’s so true, a lot of dreams are a mystery to our waking mind.

  14. The poem has some truth to it. You can only move forward from the present, but I don’t think that means you leave the past entirely behind. For example, If you have been through hell, you want to remember that so you don’t go there again.

I was taught that to interpret a dream, you must look at what each person or thing in your dream means to you. Each thing you dream about is a situation or part of you trying to communicate symbolically.

I have the book Animal Speak by Ted Andrews. A summary of Raven from the book says it is about being the trickster and the wise one, creativity, change, and transformation. “If the raven comes to you, it speaks of an opportunity to become the magician and/or enchantress of your life.”

    1. I very much agree. I think the best thing to do is process and accept the past but don’t let it hold you back and destroy your future.

Very interesting, I guess I didn’t think of the other aspects of the dream except the raven. I think I should look into what those mean too.

That’s a very positive interpretation, I hope the raven brought me some opportunities and I feel like it did in some ways.

  15. Absolutely true, inspiring. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much.

  16. Wonderful quote. Really inspiring to me.

    1. Thank you, so glad you found it inspiring. I did too.

  17. Not quite a raven but I used to have a pet crow. He was very tame, could speak a number of words and used to sit on my shoulder. Probably thought he was a parrot. I taught him to fly.
Quote is great – I would add that getting to where you want to go takes courage, determination and perseverance.

    1. That’s great. We used to feed some crows at our old house but not here. They’re extremely smart and can say some words too. I didn’t know that before and find it so fascinating. And they’re fiercely loyal.

  18. Lovely quote from Ella…
As per your dream?….life is still ongoing even though you may be mentally and emotionally in a dark space. The raven is a reminder that you are not forgotten, that the universe or whomever is out there is still looking out for you, and that you are being prepared for the next step in your journey. Preparation before promotion…
    💙🙏

    1. Yes, I think of it that way too. I think it’s a sign that someone is trying to protecting me and that things will get better. Thanks so much 😊

  19. I’m not one to interpret dreams , but I do have some odd ones lol My most recent one was about living in a mall and worrying about my dog jumping down an escalator . And then my dog grew wings and flew lol . It was a very strange one.

    1. Lol, that’s quite a strange dream too. Do you worry about your dog in real life? That may explain the dream.

      1. I do sometimes , and yeah I could see that being reflecting in my subconscious.

  20. Oh, a raven in your dreams must be sending you a message. Trying to protect you, yes I think so. I remember some of my dreams and usually they don’t make any sense. I wonder where they originated from – our subconscious mind?

    1. I think so too, it’s trying to tell me I’m being protected. Yeah, I think a lot of dreams stem from our memories moving from short to long term memory. Except they’re all jumbled up and stuff. And a lot of what our subconscious picked up is jumbled in there too.

  21. Qothe the raven ” Nevermore” So no more negetivity. Looks good Btw Ella is RIGHT!!! 🤣😎🙃

    1. My favourite Poe poem for a reason lol! 😅

      1. you are poetic mind catching and innovative 1-of-a-kind!

        1. Thank you so much!

          1. It’s an honor and congratz to be on wordpress.com with such a great talent as Pooja G!

            1. Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say.

              1. You are very intune to the social Media’s facts of what she be!

  22. scat and that is that poojer.

      1. as in yes i agree or yes you too should see my head shrink. lmao. it is deja vu time for pooja g!

        1. Obviously the head shrink one lol

            1. Haha my favourite Edgar.

              1. degas cha cha do the fan dango now poojerz

  23. ode to the mother lode.

  24. sometimes we just have weird dreams, which may not make sense. But sometimes our first interpretation of a dream is probably the most accurate. Then again im no dream interpreter haha 😅

    1. Lol, yeah I think dreams really depend on the person and I guess that’s how I interpreted it 😅

  25. Regarding the quote, I think it essentially means that we shouldn’t necessarily let our past or background define us; what truly matters is the path we choose to take and what we do in our lives, moving forward.

    It’s a good, relevant quote.

    1. Yeah, I think that’s exactly it. We shouldn’t let our past stop us from having a great future.

  26. I like the quotation of Ella’s. I think your dream is likable, too. Across cultures, ravens are depicted as mischief-makers or companions. As companions, they are loyal. I think your raven might mean protection, as you say. I’m glad the dogs and cats were all right with each other. Ecumenism’s needed in the world. I think indeed the dream might mean better days ahead for you–I hope so!–at least in terms of attitude. Recenlty, I’ve been suffering with insomnia, which has made my dreams, when I’ve had them, especially strange. Not horror things from horror stories–I’d probably like that–but reality twisted with enough reality remaining to make think it all is happening (for real). I’m with people whom I know as well.

    1. Yeah, I think so too. Well, at least I’m hoping haha.
Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with insomnia for the last few days too. I can barely sleep like 5 or 6 hours and even that it’s not deep sleep. I guess that’s why I’ve been having odd dreams too. I have those vivid dreams too. They really suck a lot. Hope you’re able to sleep better soon.

  27. Beautiful quote, Pooja! Meaning is effective. The beautiful words you wrote about your dreams are also a little funny. Sometimes, dreams are fascinating😊🙏

    1. Thank you so much! True, some dreams are so interesting 😊

      1. You are most welcome, girl! You always write beautifully😊

        1. 😊😊😊

  28. I love the Ella Fitzgerald quote! Another interesting fact – a group of crows is called a murder of crows!

    1. Thanks so much, yes I had read that about crows! Very interesting stuff!

  29. “Confident the new direction you are traveling in
will be better than the place you’re in
is not the distination you want to be in
so the place you are traveling too
is better than the pace you left,”

    __Van Prince

    1. True, being confident in our future helps.

  30. an interesting quote, Pooja.

dreams can be so mysterious… yours seems to be a good sign if you felt that sense of protection.

    🤍🤗

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, they really can be fascinating and I think mine was a good sign for sure 🤗💭

  31. Dreams can be very powerful. If you remember it as clearly as you did after waking up, I have to agree with you – someone is trying to tell you they are looking out for you!

    1. I agree, dreams can be powerful and this one was so vivid it definitely felt like a message.

  32. I don’t remember exactly but wasn’t your sister having a problem with birds? Maybe your sister is going to protect you.

    1. Yup, she had a big problem with the birds in this area. Hmm, maybe.

  33. Interesting post always please like my post freinds

    1. Thanks so much.

  34. That is a weird dream. The quote is right though.

    1. Thank you and yeah very weird.

  35. The quote is wonderful. it is so true our past should not determine our future. Your dream has a lot of meaning to it. Maybe it means that something/someone you see as scary or challenging is really a positive opportunity.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s an interesting way of looking at it. I didn’t think of something scary becoming something good but that would make a lot of sense.

  36. I totally agree. It doesn’t matter where you been, it’s where you’re going that matters.

    1. Exactly, don’t let the past hold you back.
