Just Another Quiet Night

Just Another Quiet Night

I work in the night

To give spouses a fright

When they have been naughty

The police find their body

Sometimes they have a little “fall”

And sometimes no bodies are found at all

Tonight was a busy one

I can’t deny it was a little fun

When he begged and pleaded for his life

But I told him I was hired by his wife

“I’m not married,” he explained

Oops… Not this mistake again!

About “Just Another Quiet Night”:

Well, it’s still the spookiest month of the year. And for that reason I’ve been writing more horror/thriller themed poetry and short stories. I wanted to take a break from the really creepy stuff and so I wrote “Just Another Quiet Night” which has more of a funny twist at the end. Well, my kind of dark humour funny more than haha funny. I guess I just love writing things with surprise endings.

In other news, I rewatched The Addams Family today which is one of my favourite Halloween movies. I just love all of them so much. I loved Wednesday (the TV show) too but it pales in comparison to the original movie. The movie is just a classic and the actors and actresses are so perfect for their roles.

What did you think of this poem? Are you ready for Halloween? What are some of your favourite Halloween movies? Is The Addams Family one of them? Let me know in the comments section below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Oops, you got the wrong guy.

    1. Lol, a big hazard with this line of work.

  2. He probably did something where he deserved it. But oops, sorry..😆

    1. I mean, probably lol 😅

  3. I love this spooky month. I loved your poem. You are so creative.

    1. Thank you so much!

  4. 😲🤭😊

  5. Loved reading it

Your humor could be surprising sometimes and only you can pull it off. Thats why you’re my favorite.

I remember watching adams family animated. However when I compare that with the movie, the actors did fantastic job.

For some reason I’m not interested in Wednesday. Because I feel it’s more like highschool drama type 🤷🏻‍♂️

For you I have a recommendation, as you are in the zone
And I am sure you will love it
“Junji ito maniac: Japanese tales of macabre”

At first, I thought it would be regular anime, but I really love the the horror, Stories in the shows. The eps are not that big and even if you are not the fan of animation ( which I believe you aren’t), you will love it I guarantee. If nothing, than as a poet/writter it will give you ideas.
Watch it during this month. It’s on Netflix.

    1. Haha thanks, my humour is entirely owed to the media I consumed growing up. And still do cos my family loves South Park haha.

Noooo, Wednesday is so good. Like not as good as the movie but so good.

Ooh, interesting. Will check it out.

      1. Yes, your humor is actually great.
With some people it feel forced, but your come our as natural.

I wonder how are you outside WP. 😅
        I need to see ep 1 I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.
The show I recommend is so good, trust me you won’t regret, because it gives a weird sensation and unexpected twist 😁

        1. Thanks lol 😅

I’m the same in real life as on WP for the most part 😆

Will definitely check it out 😊

  6. Oh how I love your poems for October!

    1. Thank you!

  7. I thought being single protect one from that sort of thing, but apparently not, lol. I am not ready for Halloween yet. It looks like we may get our snow early, so may have to concentrate on getting my snow tires on first by this weekend.

    1. Nope, nothing truly protects you if you look like someone else that’s married lol. Oh wow, snow already. Time does fly.

      1. That is not a comforting thought. I have at least 3 doppelgangers in this area alone, lol.

        1. Be careful, always mention that they’ve got the wrong person lol.

  8. Loved the ending.

    1. Thanks so much.

  9. Well… I stopped to say hi and very spooky Halloween post I hope you not a killer

    1. Hi and thanks so much.

  10. busted….

    twisted, again brilliant lol🤍

    1. Haha, thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed the twist 😜

  13. […] also gives me great pleasure to reveal my editor for Dark Butterflies, non-other than Pooja Gudka of Lifesfinewhine. She took a lot of convincing, but she eventually came round and spared precious […]

  14. Sounds like you’ve got another job Pooj!

    1. Lol, perhaps so!

    1. Haha thanks 😅

  15. Very interesting poem Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re most welcome

  16. “Opps…Not this mistake again!” Bahaha. Hugs, C

    1. Lol, glad you enjoyed the twist!

  17. Haha.
I love this. It’s so light hearted and fun.

    1. Lol, thanks so much 😅

  18. I love Halloween and your poem is perfectly spooky and delightful! 🎃👻

    1. Haha, thanks so much! 👀👻

      1. You are welcome, Pooja.

  19. You Realize you don’t get paid when you make mistakes. And those errors make us all look bad!! 🤣😎🙃

    1. She always takes the payment in advance don’t worry! 😅

      1. Still a lot of mistakes will ruin a good business 🤣😎🙃

        1. Lol, true. She needs to be careful 😜

  20. Some old wives’ tales have an occasional flaw, but even the best hit women who have many hit songs will occasionally have a flip side that’s a slightly deadly error. Look on the bright side: many men got their just deserts. In war there is always collateral damage. c’est la vie, c’est la mort.

    1. “In war there is always collateral damage.” that’s very true.

  21. got forked tongue
    cos ya one
    what s yer name
    i take some most blame
    eh
    ha!

    1. I take no blame lol!

      1. fault is in heavens ayes not eh poojer? the word is culpa

        1. Yes, I almost always blame the heavens…

          1. naw heaven is forever. the new jerusalem after all. the nuns know. litany lament . stand sit kneel kinda like how i feel.

  22. I appreciate the wickedness in the poem, both in terms of mischief and also downright evil (not the poem but the character). Too bad about that mistake. I have to get a few treats for neighbors for Hallowe’en. I’d like to have a little more decor as well. And are you ready? Vegan treats? I’m sure you’re working on a costume.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I have some fun chocolate related plans for halloween and of course vegan treats are a must. They don’t trick or treat here but we have Halloween parties so that’s what I’m excited about.

  23. well written, i guess they wont be paid until they find the right person, and get the job done 😅

    1. Don’t worry, they always take payments in advance 😅

  24. I loved the poem! You are very talanted!!!

    1. Thank you so much!

  25. Lovely poem. I also love the Addams Family movie! It’s such a shame the actor who played Gomez died so young and couldn’t continue the role.

    1. Thanks. That movie is definitely amazing and yes it’s really heartbreaking. Gomez is such an iconic character it’s sad he passed away so young.

  26. Haha, you really should check you have the right person before murdering them.

    1. Especially in this line of work lol.

  27. I don’t celebrate Halloween, but I loved your poem. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much. Have a great week too. Hope you’re feeling better now.

      1. I am feeling a bit better, it’s just this cough that won’t leave. My lungs are starting to clear up, I can tell by the way I am breathing, but my kidneys on the other hand are giving me problems. I have drank so much water, I feel flooded on the inside. It’s like I turned 49 and my body hated it; things went left instead of staying right. I just want everything to get back to normal.🙏🏾

        1. So sorry to hear that, praying that things look up for you soon 🙏

            1. You’re welcome.

  28. You certainly have the flair for a twist♥️✍🏾🖤

    1. Thank you 😊💖

  29. That’s a BIG oopsie! A fun piece.

    1. Haha thanks!

      1. My pleasure!

  30. NICE POST 🌺💗💯

    1. Thank you so much 😊

  31. I loved the poem! ❤️

    1. Thank you! ❤️

      1. It’s my pleasure! ❤️

  32. Sloppy killer 🤣🤣.

    1. A little forgetful, that’s all 😅😜

  33. Great poem! I knew there would be a twist (I’ve read your work for a while) and it did not disappoint.

    1. Thank you, I do love twists!

      1. You’re welcome! You’re good at them. Even if I know it’s coming, I usually don’t see coming what it will be.

        1. Thanks, I always try to have the most random twists possible!

  34. Couldn’t agree more! We believe in The Addams Family supremacy!!

    1. Yeah we do!! Morticia and Gomez are totally #goals !
