Soren Kierkegaard Quote:

Soren Kierkegaard Quote

What’s Up With Me?

If you’re wondering how I am now since I was sick earlier, I’m doing a lot better. I’ve pretty much recovered now except for a lingering cough that has decided to stay past it’s welcome (which was zero days). I hate coughing so it has been annoying but life goes on. Thankfully, I have got my sense of smell back although for the first few days it was overwhelming to smell everything once more. It’s like the scents felt sharper and more potent. But I’m alright now.

In other news, I have been quite busy recently and I am excited to share what I’ve been busy with. I’m sure some of you will be able to guess what’s happening. But I’m still excited to share the good news soon.

Since I had some more time recently as I have not been posting as much on Lifesfinewhine, I’ve been reading the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe. I realised that a lot of classic books are free on the Kindle app and this was one of them so I’m taking advantage of that. Next on my list is East Of Eden. I’m quite excited to read so many classics. If you have not taken advantage of the free books on the Kindle app, I would recommend doing so.

What have you been up to recently? Did you enjoy this weeks Soren Kierkegaard quote? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. this quickly became a do nothing day, and a day to quickly replan the rest of the week…edgar allen poe….listen to the Alan Parson Project album called tales of mystery and imagination….especially the tune called the Raven…but it’s worth listen to while reading…….

    1. Very interesting, I’ll definitely be listening to that. Thanks for the recommendation.

  2. Yes, it’s true for sure. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much, glad you agree.

  3. I’m glad that you are better, Pooja. 👍🏻😊

    1. Thank you, I am too haha! 😊

  4. Brilliant blog post Pooja G my friend. I like the quote because it is so true and very interesting. Indeed life is an experience and we experience stuff every day.

Also, I am glad that you are feeling better now, being sick just on the season of Xmas is not a good thing. At least the coughs have stopped and you will continue blogging as usual💯👏

    1. Thanks so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed the quote.

Yeah, being suck during the holiday season really is no fun. But thankfully I recovered pretty fast 😊

      1. I am glad to hear that!🙏😀

  5. The only issues I had with the kindle free classics was that the formatting could be extremely atrocious. It looked like they had taken the free gutenberg versions and turned them into kindle versions and hte conversion wasn’t that great. Hoping you’re not having to deal with that…..

    1. No, thankfully I don’t have that issue when reading on my phone.

  6. Yes it was an excellent quote.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks.

  7. He was a great philosopher, and you have selected a wonderful quote.

    1. He was and glad you enjoyed this quote too.

  8. That’s great! I’ve listening to ETA Hoffman’s fairy tales, the Sandman, which is considered to be horror, was the first one and now I’m in the middle of Nutcracker and Mouse King audio nook. YouTube is absolutely the best for finding such gems.

    1. Oh interesting, how do you like it so far?

      1. It’s really good, I highly recommend it

        1. I’ll check it out. I like that genre.

  9. Glad you’re feeling better. 🦋 Happy reading! 😊

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

  10. Good quote and happy reading!

    1. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  11. A very pragmatic look at life in this quote. I know that most classics and books from authors long passed away are free or cost a nominal amount. I have downloaded Dickens and PG Woodhouse, who is my favorite

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, thankfully so and glad you downloaded your favourites too.

      1. Yes so am I, though I still have to find time to read them.

        1. Same here, I barely read one or two books a month these days. It’s so hard to find time.

          1. Very true. Though you also work while I only have a few grandma duties 🥰😂

            1. Haha true but grandma duties can be time consuming too 😅

              1. Sometimes they are but mostly I can do what I like with my time, and that time is taken up with blogging

                1. That’s so nice, blogging keeps the mind active.

                  1. Indeed, this is the main object of mine, to keep my mind/ brain constructively occupied

                    1. That’s good, too many people fall prey to idleness after they get older but the trick is to stay active.

                    2. Yes, I’ve seen that and it’s a fate to be avoided at all costs 😍

  12. glad you feeling better, Pooja… and taking time to relax and enjoy.

    a beautiful quote shared… well said 🤍

    1. Thanks so much, yes it’s actually been fun to do nothing for bit. Glad you enjoyed the quote 😊

      1. most welcome 🤍

  13. Pooja G can write!!

I love how you transitioned from one idea to another without losing the flow.

That’s an hallmark of a great writer 🙌🙌

A little bit of confession here 👉

I found this page because of your attractive image 😍😍

But your content is as beautiful as your appearance.

    (Y’all should forgive me 😂😂)

    1. Aw, thanks so much. Really appreciate your kind compliments 😊

      1. You’re welcome

  14. Glad to hear you’re doing so much better and I did enjoy the Kierkegaard quote this week. we often can’t understand things fully until we have some hindsight, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live life to the fullest in the present moment.

    1. Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the quote and that’s so true.

      1. Thanks

        1. My pleasure.

  15. Well, good thing

I’m glad you are doing well. Drink some hot water in early morning, natural cough killer.

I love free stuff, who doesn’t. I don’t like e-books that that thing. I love reading actual books. E-Books means, additional screen time. Which I want to strictly avoid.

PooG, how are you, dear friend?
I missed reading your work. I had an opportunity to read old work of yours, but time never allowed me. I am happy to receive notifications of the latest updates from your side.

    1. I’ll try the hot water, thanks for the tip 😊

Yup, free stuff is awesome. I know Ebooks aren’t the best but I’m okay with reading them sometimes.

I’m good although preoccupied with something really important 😅

      1. Something important 🤔

        Wedding season 🤔
        Hmm 🤔

        1. Nothing to do with weddings lolll 😅

  16. Nothing like a little Poe to make you realize that things could be worse!

    1. Lol, so true!

  17. Life unfolds as a journey of experiences, each moment offering a lesson or a joy. Embrace the reality with open arms and a heart ready to learn and grow.

    1. I absolutely agree. Reality is all we have so we may as well accept it and enjoy it in the moments that we can.

  18. East of Eden was one of my favourite books – you know you feel as if you’ve lost something when you reach the end; you want it to go on forever!
But I was just thinking. I read it about 50 years ago! I don’t know if it still holds up! Some do and some don’t. I think it will!! Must read it again!!

    1. I’m really excited to read it. True, some books aren’t as great when we reread them but hopefully this one will be!

  19. Poe is good reading. And yes there are so many free titles available on Kindle. I think I have East of Eden in a collection somewhere. Read it in high school. Literature had so many old titles that were mandatory reading. Enjoy. 🙏👏💜

    1. Yup, Poe is my favourite. Can’t go wrong with his writing. I’ve never read it before but excited to read East Of Eden. I’ve wanted to for so long. Thanks 😊

  20. I started using Kindle a couple weeks ago but so many of the books I’d like to read aren’t free. 😒 It’s hard to find free “tech” books because they’re so difficult to write. The free ones are usually little more than long blog posts with no research, bad writing, and often factually wrong statements haha.

Kierkegaard was referenced a lot by Peterson back when I was reading him. I haven’t directly read any Kierkegaard work but I know Peterson’s academic work is based a lot on him.

    1. Yeah, that makes sense. I can’t imagine how difficult it much be to write a tech book considering I’m struggling just with poetry lol 😅 Hopefully you’ll find some good ones though.

I haven’t read much by Kierkegaard except some reading we were assigned in uni but I did find it interesting.

      1. I think writing poetry is probably harder! Technical writing is just writing step by step instructions and throwing some bad jokes in here and there to keep it interesting haha

        1. Maybe I need to switch writing genres lol 😅

  21. I am glad you are better. I love East of Eden! It’s in my top five. Funny, my Italian friend Guido was reading it in English on his kindle when I was there. I reread it this summer and it still stands the test of time for me. I’ll be eager to hear what you think of it!

    1. Thanks so much. Wow, I’m hearing only good things about East Of Eden so now I’m even more excited to read it. What a cool coincidence, hope he was enjoying it too. I’ll definitely share my thoughts after I read it.

      1. Hope we’re not raising your expectations too much. Enjoy!

        1. I think that may be the case but I feel like I still won’t be disappointed. Thanks!

          1. I’m curious, what made you pick this book?

            1. I had wanted to read it for years but never gotten around to it. I’ve talked to so many people who have recommended it very highly so that peaked my curiosity. And I loved Of Mice And Men so I thought I would like this one too.

  22. Get well soon! Glad you’re enjoying the free classics too

    1. Thank you!

  23. So glad to hear you’re feeling better Pooja. I love Edgar! Hugs, C

    1. Thanks so much!

  24. Glad to hear you have your sense of smell back and are feeling better.

I am still working on my renovations, but getting close to completing them. I have to take my car in for some expensive maintenance later in the week.

I used to have a set of Britannica Great Books, but lost them in a fire. I found this site that offers links to free e-book versions of the Great Books of the Western world.

    https://prodigalnomore.wordpress.com/great-books-of-the-western-world-as-free-ebooks/

    1. Thanks so much. Glad you’re almost done with the renovations and hope it’s all going well. Car maintenance is always so costly but sometimes necessary.

Oh no, sorry to hear about the fire. I would be devastated if my books were burnt. Thanks for that link, I’ll definitely check out what books they’re offering.

  25. Absolutely. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. Always a pleasure, have a great week too.

  26. This is a great quote and it’s very true.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Hope you kick the cough soon, too!

    1. Thanks so much. I’m much better with the cough now as well, it’s almost gone!

      1. That’s great news! I had a horrible cough for nearly all of 2022. I really took breathing for granted until I couldn’t do it very well.

        1. Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Yeah, cough often lingers which is annoying but thankfully mine is getting less and hopefully should be gone by the end of the month.

  27. Great quote!!!!! So glad that you’re feeling better.

    1. Thanks so much!!

      1. You’re welcome!

    neat quote

    1. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

  29. Always good to hear you’re on the mend. I hope it lasts through the holidays. I have such a long to-read list. We should form a book club, 😅🙏🏾🥹😩

    1. Thanks so much. Thankfully, I’m almost fully recovered although still have a little weakness. Lol, we totally should 😊
