My Darkest Desires

couple kissing on a couch | My Darkest Desires

Drowning in the my darkest desires

Your eyes make it so easy to fall

In your arms I know I belong

With you I finally feel whole

So hold me tight

And never let me go

Not two pieces of a puzzle

But two broken people

For one moment

No longer broken

Dreaming of freedom

Feeling nothing but ecstasy

When we wake up tomorrow

We will still be just as broken

But in this moment

In my darkest desires

We are perfect

About “My Darkest Desires”:

I don’t know where this poem came from. Maybe it’s the boredom or maybe it’s the lack of sleep. I haven’t slept well in over a week. My damn phone is why. I get distracted and before I know it I’ve been doomscrolling for an hour. I really need to stop doing that.

Sometimes I just write whatever comes to mind and I guess this poem is one of those things. Actually, the entirety of this blog may be one of those things. I think this poem is about finding your soulmate. I have always thought of it as finding someone who is the same kind of broken you are and someone who makes you a better version of yourself when you’re together. At least that’s what I used to think. For the last few year, I don’t really know if I believe in soul mates anymore.

Do you believe in soul mates? Did you enjoy this poem? Let me know your thoughts about it in the comments below. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Wow, nice one❤️👌💕🎉

    1. Thanks so much 😊💕

  2. The poem is wow
I would say it was exciting, romantic and lovely ❤️
    Well done.

If phone is troubling you, throw that damn thing 😅
Seriously tho, you may need healthy Boundary with it, it should not ruin your mental health.
Although such poems should keep coming, love them.

Was this one impromptu? Like in one go? I loved it ❤️ Netflix and chill.

I love what you said in the poem about making whole. I think that’s possible, yes hard to find such person.
These days people are not invested in emotional health and they rather care for sex 🤷🏻‍♂️
I guess after a age a person start thinking about emotional connect.

As for you I think there are someone perfect for you.
I’ll make a online profile of you on matrimony sites
We need to find perfect gujju Bhai 😛

Hey jokes apart, I’m sure there’s some just perfect for you.

    1. And interestingly, I thought it would be first comment 😅
I came online to wish happy birthday to my sister and say notification of your post, but well 🤷🏻‍♂️🫣😛

      1. *saw dammit…. This is not my usual time 🫣🤦🏻‍♂️

      2. Ooh I see, I wonder if you’ve ever been my first comment since I usually post when it’s very early morning.

        1. I don’t know 😅
Even if I try to, there’s always someone 🫣
Even a “nice post”, “great share ” will be counted as comment. When I read I try to express as best as I can. If I am not in a good mood, either I will avoid commenting at that point or drop uninterested comment (which also shows lack of interest), however uninterested part never came into scene for LFW 😀😏

The main thing is your time is fix, but if you will post or not that is unsure. Like I generally start using phone after 7:15, by then your post is already published and there are already 4-5 comments. I like reading your work with free mind, first thing in morning, give me happiness 😊
There are few whom I avoid for days 😛🤫

          1. Yeah, I understand the struggle. Aw, thanks. Hope you continue to find my posts interesting 😊

Yes, I don’t post daily anymore but if I post it’s scheduled. Lol, we all have those that we avoid 😅

            1. From last 2.5 years I’ve found your work interesting.

And I know you will never realise it but you have grown a lot as a writer and as a poet. Your work is getting better and better. 👸🏻

              1. No, I agree. My writing has improved a lot. When I edit old posts I see that too.

                1. No not that improvement.
                  Ofcourse you’ve improved

I was talking about your style

knowingly-unknowingly you’ve added a lot of new elements. You have shown range, like how good you are with different genre and topics.

I am sorry I don’t know why I end up praising you always 🫣

                  1. Lol, I can’t complain. Who doesn’t love praise 😊

                    1. I always end up doing that 😅

                      I’m a fanboy, what can I say.
                      Take care buddy 🤗

    2. Thanks so much.

Lol yeah, I need to keep it away from me at night. I have no self control so it’s best if it’s not near me haha.

      Yes, it was impromptu.

True, when we’re young we don’t care as much about the emotional connection. But when we get older we look for a deeper connection.

Thanks. I don’t know if there is but either way I’m good with that 😊

      1. Loved the poem 😍

When do you sleep? Make sure you don’t use any device atleast 2 hours before you sleep. It’s not worth it. It can help you avoid doom scrolling

I’ll find a gujju Bhai for you 😛

        1. Yeah, I’ll try to do that and not use my phone right before sleeping. Don’t know if I can do two hours because I work online lol 😂

          1. Yes you do work online
But avoid social media or news and turn off the notification.

Nothing comes above you and your mental health.

Can’t believe I need to repeat all the things I’ve said in my post. 🤦🏻‍♂️
            Take care from tonight itself.

            1. Yeah, I’ll try 😊

              1. I’ll ask you your experience after 2-3 days

I’ll keep an eye on you 👀 ( no offense who can take away eyes from you anyway 😛)

You gave me an idea for a post
I’ll be needing your support with that.

                1. Yay, let me know if you need anything for the post (other than my support) 😊

                  1. I read something about habits in a book I’m reading
I can make a post with your help

                    Just an idea rn 😁

                    1. Sounds like an interesting idea 😀

  3. Your poem is wonderful, Pooja! ❤️ I used to believe in a soulmate but after three divorces, that is a myth now. I really hope you can get some good sleep soon, Pooja. Maybe you should set a specific time of evening to shut your phone off, maybe this will help you. I feel addicted to Instagram at times because it’s hard to put it down! Bad…

    1. Thanks so much ❤️ I totally understand. After three divorces it’s hard to believe in marriage or soulmates.
Yeah, I decided to stay away from my phone half an hour before bed. It’s for the best. Yeah, social media is addictive!

  4. I dig this one!

    1. Thank you!

  5. I liked the poem, but I found it to be somewhat sad.

Rather than believe in a soulmate, I prefer to envision a romantic partner who shares a deep mutual commitment to the relationship because life will have ups and downs. It makes life easier if someone who deeply cares is there with you.

    1. Thanks so much. I think it was supposed to be sort of bittersweet.

I’m the same way. I think sometimes you meet someone who you work well together with and connect deeply with. Not your soulmate but someone you can spend your life with. Relationships are hard and you have to work at them. I think with soulmates people start to think it’s easy and things will be perfect but that’s not how it is.

  6. Fascinating blog post Pooja. Well my friend, I really don’t believe in soul mates, in life, there is nothing such as a perfect man or woman. I too have flaws and I prefer to just live life and accept all the disappointments.

This is a great poem by the way. Dark desires. I guess we all have them👍💯

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I feel that way too. No one is perfect and when it comes to relationships you need to make sure you’re working hard at it.

      Thanks ☺️

  7. I waited for the twisted twist that comes with some of your poems😋
    didn’t come but this…
    “In my darkest desires
    We are perfect”
    perfect to end…

hope you get to rest, Pooja… though if you thinking up such great poems in your tiredness, I’d say go for it 😋😁

    take care 🤍✨

    1. Thanks so much. Haha yes, this one is more straightforward but maybe that’s the twist 😉

      Thanks so much 😊

      1. nicely said… and most welcome 🤍

  8. I loved the poem, it’s very true. We are just as broken but we see ourselves thru a different lens. It helps. It helps to be perfectly imperfect, it helps to believe in soulmates. I know that there are people you meet and it seems like you have known each other for way too long. It’s a spiritual connection no one can deny. And even if you find such a person they might choose to be material so spiritual bonds break easily. Sometimes they choose to die, it happens a lot actually. Because nobody is perfect, only in our dreams they are, only when we are asleep, but once we wake up, it’s all gone…

    1. Thanks so much. I agree, no one is perfect but I think we do have deeper connections with some people. It’s not always romantic, sometimes we just find a twin flame.

      1. Haha I agree, just a twin flame

  9. Some people are just content to dream about this, others seek the elusive perfect partner and never find them because there is no such thing as perfect. However, the rest of us are quite content to find someone who is prepared to live life with us and learn from each other tolerating differences and enjoying moments of shared happiness. That’s quite sufficient for a fulfilling life.

    1. I know what you mean, I think a lot of it depends on luck too. Personally, I think relationships where both people work hard at them and mutually love and respect each other work better than soulmates. With soulmates it dies down.

  10. I don’t know about soulmates, but I’ll just say I aspire to a line from that old song – “How do I know when it’s love? I can’t tell you but it’ll last forever”
And I don’t know if it’s about finding someone who’s broken the same way as you, or someone who’s strengths offset your shortcomings and vice versa for them to make a more complete package.
Now stop doomscrolling and go to freaking sleep! lol

    1. That’s a good line, it makes a lot of sense. True love should be forever.

Lol, now I’m off to sleep 😴

      1. Goodnight, Pooja! Get some damn rest lol

        1. Don’t worry, I’m totally asleep right now lol.

          1. Yes, I can see that. 🙄

            😄

          2. It’s almost midnight. Stop doomscrolling lol

            1. I told you, I’m fast asleep 😅

              1. So I see 🙄🙄

                1. Surprisingly I got a pretty good nights sleep last night 😊

                  1. About time, eh? lol
Glad you got some rest, Pooja. Hope your day is going well!

                    1. Thanks and hope yours is going well too!

  11. I love your poem, but I don’t subscribe to the idea of having a soulmate. I firmly believe in being complete independently, without relying on someone else. Anyone entering my life should enhance my already fulfilling, happy, and satisfied lifestyle.

    1. Same here. I used to believe in soulmates but don’t anymore. I think it makes sense to find your own happiness first and that would make you an even happier couple.

  12. It’s a heartfelt piece, Pooja.
    Well written 🌻

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  13. Wonderful poem, Pooja! ♥️🌹

    1. Thank you so much! ♥️

      1. My pleasure! ♥️🌹

  14. such a good poem!
and i do but soulmates to me come in many versions…. music soulmates, penpal soulmates, etc… i have my husband who is my soulmate in terms of love/partner etc and then i have friends who are my soulmates lol well actually my husband i consider him twin flame and then i have friends who are like perfect music soulmates (we like exactly the same music for example) and friends who have the same values as me … i dont put much importance to soulmates tho i mostly use it lightly!

    1. Thanks so much!

I totally get what you mean. I think I have friends who I connect with on certain things who are like soulmates in that way. Yeah, I think with soulmates it’s sort of like assuming someone is perfect for you but the truth is no one is perfect and we have to work. at relationships. Even the non-romantic ones.

  15. Odd how our mind can intentionally or not depict exactly what our hearts long to connect with like it’s a missing key that unlocks our true happiness.

    1. True, our heart works in mysterious ways and so does our mind.

  16. Great poem Pooja! ✨

I used to long for a soul mate.
    Now I realise it’s my dog. 😌

    1. Thanks so much! Aw, that’s so sweet 🐶

  17. Wow, great poem!
I do believe in soul mates, but I just don’t believe you only have one soul mate or that your soul mate is your lover. There are many forms of love, and subsequently, soul mates to be found in many people regardless of the type of relationship you have with them.
What I have my doubts about is two broken people able to “fix” or heal each other. That’s a complex matter, and a lot goes into it, but depending on the extent of the issue, and talking from experience, your partner cannot be your therapist. It’s blind leading the blind. But, again, that depends on the question of “broken how?”

    1. Thanks so much!

That makes a lot of sense. I guess it’s a bit like twin flames. You have multiple people you truly connect with.

Oh, absolutely. That’s what I meant too when I wrote “We will still be just as broken.” I don’t think we can ever fix someone else. And shouldn’t have to. In fact, I think broken people relying on one another can make the relationship super toxic.

      1. Yeah, maybe it is the twin flame.

And regarding the question of broken people and “fix them” complex, I totally agree. We can’t/shouldn’t fill those roles in other peoples’ lives. You don’t deserve it, they don’t deserve it. It can just cause so much damage.

        1. Exactly, no one should have to fix someone else in a relationship. It’s best to get to a better place with professional help.

          1. Couldn’t agree more!

  18. two form one
    for awhile
    after the loving
    who knows
    if or was?

    1. Yup, when it’s all over the feelings seem to leave.

      1. as disappointing as in 2005 when tessy said no. tmi? most likely!

        1. Tessy’s missing out.

          1. most kind dearest Pooja!

          2. tis her bday. she would not want me to tell and yell. but i did anyways. ha h a ha ha

            1. Don’t worry, I won’t tell 😉

              1. how would you?

              2. as you become gupta yet again. wow

              3. noticed you have not been linkedinnning it. that place is getting weird. worse than wordpress by far.

                1. Yes, I avoid LinkedIn as much as humanly possible lol. I just autopost from WP but not always.

                  1. they won t let me go. why? how odd.

                    1. Some of these platforms are so wacky and I feel like LinkedIn is one of them.

                    2. guru central

  19. Once again Pooja prooves, very beautiful poem. Human life today cannot go on without doomscrolling often. because of social media impact. before go to bed, gently rubbing your hair with your hands is great to help you fall asleep. Those who can see our mind and speak our mind will definitely make a good soulmate. Stay healthy dear.👍👍👍

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, unfortunately doomscrolling is a part of life these days.

      1. You are welcome

      2. watching humour movies is one remedy to overcome doomscrolling.

        1. Yes, very true. It’s a good distraction from our phone.

  20. My soulmate is on another planet, but I’m afraid that if she doesn’t look human, I won’t like her. That’s the trouble with reincarnating into shallowness on this planet. I think in a previous life I reincarnated on her planet. I have a vague memory of enjoying their music on a 262,144 note scale, and the sound of a stoma opening and closing on a leaf. I don’t know what kind of leaf. With my luck I think that if I reincarnate again onto her planet, she will reincarnate onto Earth.

    1. Well, that’s a genuine worry. Fingers crossed you end up on the same planet.

  21. What a beautiful and heartfelt poem, Pooja. I believe in soul mates. Sometimes, it is a trial and error thing to find the right one. 💖

    1. Thanks so much. It’s so sweet you believe in soulmates and yeah that makes sense. Like all things it takes some finding 😊

      1. You are most welcome, Pooja!

  22. Soulmates…hmmm. I’m not sure I believe in that anymore. When I was young, I did. Then I met my ex and after a while, he started saying creepy things like “We love each other so much that I know we’re going to die together because neither one of us could live without the other.” Um…no. Pretty sure I would be ok without you.

Anyway, long story short, that didn’t work out. Now? I think it’s more about finding someone who you can’t imagine your life without.

    1. Yeah, that’s a really creepy and scary thing to hear someone say. So glad you were able to get away from him. And prove him wrong by doing okay without him.

  23. Hi. Yes, I believe in soul mates. I believe there is flexibility in how they find each other or work it out. I don’t believe in doomscrolling. Mostly because it’s a new term for me and the definitions I found are so sad. Maybe I’ll go back to my flip phone. Hah. Really, though, bad sleep is awful, isn’t it? I’ve been dealing with this as well. Last night I made myself cold and then wrapped myself up. There’s probably some therapy at work in that. I did okay. Be well and, if I daresay, rest well.

    1. That’s nice, yeah I think flexibility is always important when it comes to relationships.

Yeah, doomscrolling is a bit sad but it is what it is. I’ve decided to avoid my phone before bed so maybe. Hope you’re able to sleep well tonight too.

  24. Great poem Pooja!
Yes, I believe in soulmates. I am married to mine for the past 27 years. It was love at first sight for me in 1991! My husband and I are very different, opposite in almost everything, but we work.

    1. Thanks so much! Aw, that’s so sweet. You two sound like a great couple!

      1. Thanks, we try. It is hard when one person is experiencing personal growth, as I have changed quite a bit the past few yrs, but I make the effort to include him in all I learn.
I believe there is a soulmate out there for everyone!

        1. That’s wonderful. I think we all change but the important thing is to make sure you include your partner in everything. By the way, I tried to comment on your post but it didn’t go through.

          1. Thank you for your support, Pooja. As for commenting on my post, thanks for letting me know. I’ll check to see if there is a problem with that

            1. It seems to be fixed because I was able to comment earlier.

  25. A very well written poem Pooja.

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You are most welcome

  26. I really enjoyed falling into your deepest desire Pooja:) Well done!

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!

  27. Lovely Pooja ❤️‍🔥
    Love ittt

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  28. I didn’t believe in soulmates for a long time, but I do now. I feel like my soulmate is the one person who loves me THE WAY I AM. Your soulmate doesn’t try to change you; they just support you and try to give you the best of themselves.

    1. That’s so sweet. I very much agree, it’s someone you can truly be yourself around who loves you just the way you are.

  29. Beautiful poem, Pooja <3! I believe in soulmates, love at first sight, magic, and all the bells and whistles!

    1. Thank you so much! That’s really nice, hope you find your soulmate if you haven’t already!

    Lovely!

    1. Thank you!

  31. in the wee hours and those restless times where the ceiling sees and hears your words before they are sent out, I can so relate. dreaming and caught up in a mental fog of the unrest/. appreciate this one, peace

    1. Thank you so much, really appreciate that. Sorry you have an issue with sleep too.

      1. I sleep better with music or a good laugh. Sometimes over thinking

        1. I love listening to music before bed too. It definitely helps.

          1. Groove and bop what you listen?

            1. Usually Hip Hop, Country and Acid Jazz. What about you?

              1. All that plus R&B Rock, jazz, blues, Funk, World music no limits depends on my mood

                1. Yeah, I think music is always enjoyable no matter the genre.

  32. That’s amazing description

    1. Thanks so much.

  33. Wow…this is good 👍👍!

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  34. Beautiful poem Pooja. I don’t know if I believe in soul mates, but I do believe in love and learning how to love and be loved by the right person. Hugs, C

    1. Thanks so much. I believe in the same thing. I don’t think someone is perfect for you but I think you can find an amazing person and learn how to love them.

  35. Oo, what a beautiful poem layered with contrast and juxtaposition! ❤️

    1. Thank you so much! 😊

  36. I always love your poetry. I believe it goes deeper even than you intend it to, or are aware of.
I believe there in soulmates but can argue on how they come to be. I think if you open up your soul, you’ll see more than a single soulmate very close to you.😇

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate that. I don’t know about soulmates. I think some people are better suited for one another but relationships take a lot of hard work. Perfect people don’t just show up in life 🤷🏻‍♀️

      1. Perfect people do show up, Pooj. They do. like, perfect for you, not everyone else. Sometimes you just love someone and above all else you want them happy. If it goes both ways, then love/relationships, need not be hard work at all.

        1. I don’t know. I feel like that’s true in some cases but in most cases I feel like you have to work hard at the relationship to keep it going. Maybe I just have bad luck lol, idk.

          1. All i know is that with some people it feels so easy. It just works. We just have to feel for our soulmates. Not that I’m getting too far in the real world with that, lol.

            1. Stay strong, you’ll find the one when the time is right.

  37. Love this poem Pooja! I definitely believe in soulmates!!!!

    1. Thanks so much! That’s so nice!

      1. You’re welcome

  38. I enjoyed reading your poem and your thoughts about it. You have a talent for expressing your emotions and creating vivid images with words. 👏

I think the concept of soulmate is different for everyone. Some people may believe that there is only one person in the world who is meant for them, while others may think that there are multiple people who can be their soulmates. Some people may not believe in soulmates at all, and prefer to focus on the compatibility and commitment of their partners. Some people say, a soulmate is someone who you feel deeply connected to, but not in a dependent or needy way. A soulmate is someone who has a lasting impact on your life and shares your journey of growth.

Thank you for sharing your poem and your thoughts with me. I hope you have a good day (or night).

    1. Thank you so much.

Yes, I very much agree. We all think of it differently, usually depending on our experiences growing up.

      Have a good/night day too.

  39. I thought your poem was really good Pooja. There was a time in my life I thought there was a “soulmate” for everyone but I’m not so sure anymore. With relationships there are no perfect ones. They all take work and compromise. Yes, some people might find someone who they connect with in many aspects of their lives but it doesn’t always mean that it will be everlasting. People seem to change to some extent so whoever you thought was perfect for you at one time may not be as you grow older. I know that years ago I had someone who I connected with for many years, but like I said things change some so people change some. So, I haven’t had any special male in my life, except my cat, for a few years now.

    1. Thanks so much. I think that too, relationships take a lot of work and there’s no “perfect” person for you. You just find someone most suitable and work hard to stay together.

  40. Beautiful words

    1. Thanks so much.

  41. Wow! Yes it’s certainly a Wow article on my eyes.

    1. Thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it.

  42. This is a wonderful poem Pooja! I love it! You write amazing poems!

    1. Thank you so much!!
