A Murder At The End Of The World

“A Murder at the End of the World” is a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm — a Gen Z amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker named Darby Hart. In the new limited series, Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must put to use all of her combined skills to prove it was in fact murder, all against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.

A Murder At The End Of The World Review

A Murder At The End Of The World is a murder mystery show I watched recently that I very much enjoyed. So, I decided to share my A Murder At The End Of The World review. This is probably one of the best murder mystery shows I’ve seen recently. Not only was it very realistic, I think the actors and actresses all did a fantastic job. Anyway, let’s get into the specifics.

Plot

The plot of this show is what I loved the most. I feel like Google made it sound less interesting than it really is, lol. Darby is somewhat of a detective, having grown up around that sort of stuff. She and other people that are distinguished in their fields are invited to a remote area by an eccentric billionaire. Everything goes well until she sees her ex boyfriend, Bill, is also invited. Bill and Darby did not end on the best terms and throughout the show we see what happened between them in the past when they were solving a case together.

When the first murder happens, the rest of the people at the retreat are reluctant to believe Darby and rather try to convince her that it was not a murder but an overdose. She, however, trusts her gut and begins investigating. As she does so, the killer strikes again. And soon it seems like they are all in danger.

I very much enjoyed the plot because there were no major plot holes. Now, if you read the Google reviews, people keep saying there are a lot of plot holes. Trust me, there aren’t. Those people just didn’t take the time to pay attention to the show properly. Everything is well explained by the end and there are very minor plot holes which honestly can be explained too, you just have to be a bit imaginative and use your brain.

Another thing I loved about the show is that it explores the consequences of very real issues we face today. Such as the hoarding of wealth by the rich, AI and our increasing dependance on technology, climate change, domestic abuse and more.

Characters

The characters on this show are great. I think they used a wide variety of very talented actors and actresses and they were perfect for their roles. And it felt like the characters were easy to connect with and understand because like I said, lots about this show relates to the real world we live in. It’s a very realistic show with realistic characters.

I also enjoyed that the characters did not simply remain stuck. They evolved and grew. And we were able to do so with them.

Overall

Overall, this show is probably the best murder mystery show I’ve seen this year. I loved what they added in it about AI and our reliance on technology which is evolving faster than we can understand or control. I think this is a very real problem in our world and I appreciate them adding that to the plot.

A Murder At The End Of The World is also one of the most unique and futuristic murder mysteries I have seem. The plot was truly unique, at least from what I have seen and read, and that made it so much better. I hate when shows are basic and it’s easy to figure out who the killer is. This one really made me think and has so many twists and turns.

If you’re a fan of murder mysteries, this is your sign to watch A Murder At The End Of The World. Don’t listen to the people whining no the reviews section of Google, they either didn’t pay attention, didn’t watch the show or just suck. This show is very much worth a watch.

    1. Yes, absolutely. I think sometimes people don’t pay enough attention or don’t understand things from context and feel like it’s a plot hole when it really isn’t. Especially when it comes to murder mysteries.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Nice to see more female leads in detective work.

    1. Thanks and yeah I loved seeing that too.

  26. My husband and I enjoyed it, at first the jumping from past to present was difficult and one episode was practically all in the past. I appreciated the AI tie in and loved the characters, what I did lose was the reason why Darby was invited, was it her hacking skills?

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it too. In the final episode they said that Darby was invited by Lee’s husband because Fangs refused to come when first invited but he knew Fangs would come if Darby was there and he really wanted Fangs at the retreat.

  27. this is a show I’d love and will definitely check out! Thanks for a great review Pooja! xo

    1. Thank you, do check it out I’m sure you’ll love it!
