Lily Tomlin Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

In a recent post, I was talking about how I was feeling kind of down. I was still feeling like that so I went to see my therapist today which was really helpful. Turns out I was having what is commonly referred to as an existential crisis. Fun, right? Anyway, the good thing is that she helped talk me off the ledge and helped me see how this just means I’m growing as a person. Sure, I have to give up some dreams but that makes room for new dreams. It doesn’t mean I have to give up dreams permanently.

And that’s why I chose this quote. The world is constantly changing and sometimes that means we have to change our dreams too. And that’s okay. We can’t be so rigid in a world that’s forever evolving. We have to go with the flow.

Shoutout to my therapist for being really great at her job. She’s the first therapist I’ve found that’s genuinely been super helpful. If anyone wants to work with her she does online appointments too so doesn’t matter what country you’re in. This isn’t sponsored or anything, I just think she’s great and if she can help others that’s awesome. Plus, it may be cheaper for those of you living in countries with really expensive healthcare. Anyway, email me if you’re interested and I’ll forward you her contact.

This week is pretty busy but going well so far. A tough meeting to tackle tomorrow; please send good vibes!

    1. Thanks so much. Oh wow, sending good vibes and hope the meeting goes great!

      1. Thank you!

  9. I’m always hesitant to leave a comment on posts like this because I’m afraid I’ll say the wrong thing.
But I am glad you are doing better. I hope you continue on that trajectory.

    1. Thanks, I hope so too.

  10. It’s a good quotation. You find good quotations. I’m gratified to know your therapist was and is so helpful. I’m happy you feel directed in your life, after meeting with her. Adaptationin life (dealing with construction) I think is realistic.

I had a counselor who helped me through my first, tough times with heart disease. Frankly, we would be meeting still except he died. He had also become a good friend, so I have a number of reasons to miss him. But he was helpful when things were first going deeply wrong.

I hope you’re all right working out a satisfying direction for yourself and also acquiring the resources to get there. Certainly, your therapist is great at getting you going.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m sorry he passed away but it sounds like he was a wonderful counsellor and helped you a lot.

  11. Glad you are feeling a bit better and glad you have someone that can help you so effectively. That’s truly great. 😊
Not much going on here. Just the usual stuff. Trying to settle in for a bit of writing.

    1. Thanks so much and very grateful to have her.
Ooh I see, well have fun with the writing 😊

      1. I didn’t get as far as I had planned, but oh well lol

        1. Oh well, something is better than nothing.

          1. Indeed 😄😄

  12. Hope you are doing good now.

    1. Yes, I’m much better. Thanks so much.

  13. The road not taken because it’s under construction ))) I’m glad to hear your therapist is working magic for you, I need a pro like that to help me in the mid life crisis. Technically it’s not mid life but how do you measure it?

    1. Yeah, I’m really grateful to have found her. I think you can have a crisis at any time in life (trust me I’m having one too lol) and any time can be midlife since we never know the future. Anyway, I hope you find someone as helpful.

      1. One has to start looking in order to find lol

        1. Haha true. Maybe this is your sign to start.

          1. That’s right, it’s a sign LoL

  14. Hi Pooja.Thank you for sharing how you’ve been doing.I’m glad things are getting better. Also, letting go of dreams we once had can be bittersweet.Sending you good vibes & energy as you embark on new paths & realize new dreams.💕

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, letting go of dreams is incredibly difficult but it’s not the end of the world. 😊💕

  15. Indeed…to the quote .
    glad you feeling better, Pooja
wishing a better week your way 🤍🤗

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate that 🤗💕

      1. most welcome 🤗🤍

  16. The road to success is always under construction and so are the Dallas highways. But seriously, it is a great quote. When you are young it is difficult to know what you want to do with your life and what is important to you will change with age and life events. A friend of mine who has been a successful accountant his entire life just lost his wife to an unexpected illness and now he feels that his job is not making him happy either. He doesn’t want the life he has and he is looking to start over.

    1. Haha, thanks. Yes, I think often life is very unexpected and can throw us off. Sometimes we have to start over even if it is later in life. It’s sad your friend went through that but I hope he is able to find a path that makes him happy.

  17. Great quote & positive thinking here! Best wishes! 💖✨👏🍀

    1. Thanks so much! 😊💕

  18. Good that it worked out well. Nice quote to start the day. Thanks a lot.

    1. Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed the quote.

  19. My road’s an overgrown mountain trail (always up) strewn with avalanches and potholes, landslides and thick brambles. Makes life interesting!

    1. Yes, it keeps us on our toes!

  20. I love the quote! I am sad to hear you still feeling down but am glad that therapy helps you.

I agree that it isn’t easy to give up a dream, but sometimes, in the end, you get a better one that is meant for you. 🌞

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, therapy has helped a lot. Absolutely, I think it just means there’s something else out there for me that may even be better 😊

  21. read my post mr tyler
and then do the herky jerky
to let the music do the talkin
    yw

    1. Music solves everything 🙌🏽

      1. esp aerosmith and elo. now that your inner gupta is out try not to overwhelm me. lmao

      2. broken beads. unmet needs. shit show. this you surely know. lmao

  22. We are a work in progress and always will be but that’s what makes us unique. I love the quote by Lily Tomlin and I am sad you are not feeling up to par and hope your therapy helps, Pooja.

    1. Yes, absolutely so. Thanks so much and I’m doing a little better today.

  23. Apt quote! Existential crisis is sometimes a very good sign. Your therapist seems wise to help you make that connection with a time of growth and accepting loss.

    1. Thanks! True, I think it can be a sign of growth. I’m very happy to have my therapist, she’s definitely very wise.

  24. Love the quote! She’s right. There are always challenges and things are always changing! That doesn’t mean it’s not worth it! I’m planning to go to all the Easter Church services even if they aren’t at St. Cat’s. I want to attend Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and, of course, Easter Sunday at St. Cat’s. I’m going to have to travel for Thursday – Saturday, but that’s ok. I haven’t attended all the services in many years. I’m excited.

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, absolutely so! That’s wonderful, have a great time!

  25. Lily Tomlin performed at a dinner theater I tended bar at in the early 1970’s. She was very “cool”, “hip”. And, my Psych-girl saved my life. However, the “existential crisis” never ends – just goes a way from time-to-time. Take care of yourself. And … yeah. Cheers.

    1. She’s still very cool, at least to me. Yeah, I think as we get older we have multiple existential crisis but that’s okay. It’s not a bad thing. Take care, too.

      1. Will do. We can keep an eye on each other. 🙂

        1. Yes, absolutely 🙂

  26. I’m so proud of you for sharing this with us. We all need a good therapist to talk to from time to time. I’ve grown so much because of mine!

    1. Thanks so much, yes absolutely!

  27. Love Lily Tomlin and this quote is pure gold!! Not only blocked roads, but constant loud drilling, mixed signals, dust and commotion … all of which is a disaster/nightmare for an introvert. I could “hear” in your voice you feeling down and I’m wondering what dream you are “having” to give up? Your therapist sounds beneficial, so glad you are feeling better and better days to come!

    1. She’s awesome, I love her! The dream I’m giving up is further studies because it’s just too expensive. But it’s not the end of the world. My therapist helped me see there are other routes too.

      1. That’s awful … I had to as well and for that reason. It’s upsetting b/c you want and are deserving of higher education. Did you look at any scholarships or programs? I love how driven you are and I’m rooting for you!!!!

        1. Thanks so much, I truly appreciate your support! It all depends on my books, if they sell well I’ll be able to afford it with the help of scholarships and if not then I either wait or give up completely.
I’m so sorry you experienced that too, higher education is ridiculously expensive! Hope you’re able to pursue your higher education too.

          1. I believe the divine plan has many rewards for you!

  28. I’m happy your therapist was able to help you feel better. It doesn’t feel good to have to change your goals or replace them entirely, I feel you!

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, it really sucks but it’s a part of being an adult.

  29. Hi pooja. Too numb to say anything but giving up on dreams feels like a part of me dies alongside each dream I bury

    1. Hey, yeah I know what. you mean. It really hurts having to give up a dream or perhaps multiple.

      1. Thank you. You are so kind and always understand whatever I say.

        1. You’re very welcome.

  30. This is a great quote, one we should all be able to identify with. All the best to you, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much and yes it’s quite relatable.

  31. Well said, Pooja, and I’m glad your therapist was able to help you. I love that quote and it’s so true. Take good care! ❤️

    1. Thanks so much and take care too! ❤️

  32. The quote rings true. Glad to hear that your therapist was able to help you.

    1. Thanks so much, yeah she was very helpful.

  33. I’m delighted to read that it was somewhat helpful to you dear

    Please take care 🤗

    1. Thanks so much 🤗

Glad that she was able to help you figure it out. Nice quote!

    1. Thank you!

  35. Love the quote. But it can be extended to your theripist. The road of life is always under construction. And there are many potholes!! 🤣😎🙃

    1. Yes, very much so! 😅

  36. So glad you were able to see your therapist and get to feeling better! Also, “Kids” by MGMT is a cool song. You like lots of different kinds of music (I do, too) and I think that’s great to have a wide musical palate.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, it’s nice to check out different genres of music. It’s great you do that too!

  37. So glad she is so helpful, therapists like yours, and mine, are really hard to come by! I am glad she talked you off the ledge! Hugs! <3

    1. Thank you and yes we’re so lucky to have found good therapists!
