Quote Of The Day

Suzy Kassem Quote:

Suzy Kassem Quote

What’s Up With Me?

I know I just posted about being bad at socialising but I actually had a very social week. That’s why I wasn’t very active here. I ended up chatting with a friend from high school who also went to Canada for university but I went to Ontario and she went to Winnipeg so we sort of lost touch. Anyway, it was really nice to catch up, she’s always been cool so it was fun. Also, she said she reads my blog so hi!

I also spent most of yesterday with my sister and cousins which was a blast. Will be sharing more about that in a few days. And I spent Friday and Saturday running around Nairobi like a crazy person. It was so funny because I was just in and out of the house the whole time.

It was a busy but good week although now I’m sort of exhausted but there’s not rest for me because life must go on. Oh and I woke up to so many emails today I was like maybe I should just go back to bed lol.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s quote, it’s a bit personal for me because as you guys know I’m having a bit of anxiety about my future these days.

  1. Hope your week gets better, quick.
Mrs B and I were talking this morning before work and we both said we were already ready for Friday evening. I guess it’s going to be that kind of week 🙂

    1. Thanks so much. Some weeks can be like that, you’re done with it before it really begins.

  2. I like the quote, fear is definitely a killer. This week is starting really well, last week was nice and chill. I’m only looking forward to hearing more good news from a couple of offices and a couple of friends and fam. I mean life is as good as it gets when you finally stop worrying and start breathing.

    1. Thank you so much. So glad you’re having a good week and keeps going that way.

      1. That’s the goal

  3. That is a good quote. I watched and love Girl, Interrupted before I read the book, and I did not enjoy the book at all. I didn’t know the two were so different, which I do not handle change well 🤣.

    1. Thank you so much. I’ve seen Girl, Interrupted but never read the book which maybe is a good thing lol 😂

  4. Fear kills dreams and so much more 🙂

    1. I so agree with you 🙂

  5. The quote is 100% true!

    1. I think so too!

  6. “Fear” is a four-letter word in more ways than one.

    1. Yes, so true!

    2. Forget Everything And Run

      Or
      Face Everything And Rise

      1. 👍👍

  7. That quote is very true Pooja. But why are we more scared of success than failure? 🤷‍♀️

    1. Thanks so much and that’s so true, often we’re more afraid of succeeding because it would change so much.

  8. Fear can kill a lot of things! Nice to hear that you got to catch up with people. Hope you have enough energy to last through the week!

    1. Absolutely! Thanks so much, I think I should be fine haha.

  9. Hello Pooja, it sounds like you have been a busy young lady and enjoyed being sociable. I love the quote and will use it too. Thanks for updating us on what’s has been happening in your life. Enjoy your day/night.

    1. Thank you, yes it was a busy week but in a good way. Have a great day/night too.

  10. Great quote, fear: False Evidence Appearing Real.
It’s crippling and most times we have nothing to fear but fear itself which isn’t real. It’s a dream and aspiration killer.
Have a great week and continue doing what you do best.

    1. Thanks so much. You’re so right, I think fear makes us paranoid when we shouldn’t even be afraid. Have a great week too.

  11. The quote is a true case for most of us. We all fear of the idea of failure even before we have even tried.

    1. Thanks and yes I think we’re often afraid of going for what we want.

  12. I’m glad you took a little break from WP. I believe the time away would have done wonders for your soul. 🥰 It’s a great quote. Fear is a game changer..and so is learning to step out courageously believing in yourself. It’s natural for the mind to run too far ahead, but I’m learning to appreciate the space I’m in. To live in the moment and appreciate the good in every day. Tomorrow has enough stress of it’s own. 🤗

    1. Thanks, it was nice to take a break and now I’m more enthusiastic. 😊 Living in the moment definitely helps so much.

      1. It does… Wish I understood this fully when I was much younger. 😕

  13. Anxiety is a killer. If you don’t try you can’t succeed. Every new thing is stressful. Overcoming that initial stress can be very fulfilling. My advice would be – don’t allow anxiety to stop you doing anything. Overcome it.

    1. So well said! I think sometimes a certain dose of (good) stress is important in driving you towards the completion of something or the fulfilment of a dream…the key is like you’ve said, to overcome anxiety, and I would add, to acknowledge anxiety…

    2. Yes, very much so!

  14. Hi Pooja!! It sounds like you are having fun though, no matter the busyness… 🙂

I love the quote! 🌞 As someone with anxiety, I have allowed it to kill a dream or two I had over the years and it is not fun. Some days I am better able to manage it than others… Isn’t that the way?
But I don’t regret it, I had other options that worked and didn’t’ generate as much anxiety.
Enjoy the rest of your day Pooja!

    1. Thanks, it’s been a busy but very good week 😊
Yes, anxiety comes and goes. Some days are better and some are worse. But we have to live despite it.
      Enjoy your day too!

      1. Thanks Pooja! That is true, life goes on anyway. I am having a fun day… 🌞 it’s always fun to spend money.. lol

  15. Yes, fear is difficult but I try to overcome that and do what I want anyway 😉 Glad you’ve been busy socialising Pooja and that it’s taken you away from blogging. We all need a break now and then.

    1. Yes, I think the key is to do things despite the fear because it’s always going to be there. Thanks, it was a fun week although I did miss blogging a bit.

  16. Yes this is so true that the fear of failure stops us from doing many things

    1. Absolutely, it really holds us back.

      1. It does and we do n need courage to break this barrier

        1. Yes, very much so.

  17. So true! out of fear so many people don’t try to make their dreams come true…i think it is the fear of not being able to fulfil the dream or do something…but you won’t know until you’ve tried…also, perseverance is important, I would say one of the ingredients of success…

    1. That’s absolutely right, so many people just don’t achieve their dreams because they’re too afraid to go for it. True, even if we fail we have to go for it otherwise we’ll never know.

  18. You definitely won out on the college choice! I’m sure Winnipeg is a nice city but it’s a frozen apocalypse most of the year, haha. If you want to see a funny movie *sort of* about it, check out My Winnipeg by Guy Maddin. It’s part autobiography and part comedy. All his movies are great and very Canadian.

    1. Haha yeah, she was telling me it gets pretty cold during Fall and winter. Ooh that sounds interesting, I’ll check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

    1. Thanks so much.

  19. I loved Lauren Hill in “Sister Act 2!” Anyway, we are fighting off a cold here. Child #3 started it on Sunday. Now Child #4 is catching it and #2 will be next. Then it’s my turn. Noooooo! More Ningxia Red please!!!

    1. She’s amazing, I love Lauren Hill! Oh no, get well soon!

  20. &npsp;   Ut oh. I see the quote backwards. “Follow your dreams fearlessly and keep failing until…” I can’t figure out what comes after that. “Until you learn something” ? I don’t know — if you had gotten your Masters and PhD in History would they have let you do a thesis on “The History of Pooja”? I don’t know: there’s a lot of free fear going around as in the Roosevelt/Churchill mode of “We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and we will give you blood, sweat, and tears for freedom’s fight.” Ooops, I don’t think they spoke together contemporaneously.
Hooray for cousins and sister camaraderie in Nairobi coping spree. Gee social. Hey girl, something’s gotta be that thing, ya sing, ‘n there betta b a Chapta… look it, book it Dr. Hey

    1. Oops typo: I should have put a “b” instead of a “p” in the space escape character ampersand nbsp;

    2. I think this blog is “The History Of Pooja” lol.

  21. I love the quote, Pooja! Fear gets in the way of many things, unfortunately.

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, unfortunately so. I think learning to live despite fear is vital but not many people are able to do it.

      1. You are welcome, Pooja. I think living without fear is one of those things that is easier said than done.

        1. Yes, exactly. I think we can’t ever live without fear because it’s a necessary emotion. We just sort of have to learn to live despite it. It’s hard but we have to try.

          1. Yes, you are spot on, Pooja!

  22. Your life sounds so rich … glad to hear it! 🥰

    1. Aw thanks so much! 😊

  23. I hope you have a good day Pooja ❤️

    1. I did, thanks so much 😊

  24. Loved the music, Pooja! The 90s vibe is so awesome… I too listen to lots of 2PAC music though some people judge it, but they never tried to listen and understand the lyrics.

Today’s music is not that good because artists don’t create real art of what’s going on in the society!

On the song you shared, Loved the line “how you gon’ win if you ain’t right within?” Also they talked about being aware coz girls and boys only focus on that thing, which reflects on today’s relationships people only date for something lol 😂 (it was so real, I enjoyed the song from those bold ladies)

    1. I love 2Pac. I think people who judge his music don’t understand his lyrics or have never been through certain struggles and therefore can’t relate.

The lyrics in the song I share are brilliant, I love it so much. My favourite line is “respect is just the minimum” which honestly it is when it comes to relationships. So glad you enjoyed it 😊

  25. fear is necessary
    some rest too
    is this more gist
    kissed by the son
    oh my~

    1. Yes, fear is definitely necessary too.

  26. I love the quote, Pooja, and it’s so true. Sometimes it takes great effort to not let fear control us, but we’re better off if it doesn’t. I’m glad you had a great week, and I hope this week is starting off just as positive. 💖

    1. Thanks so much. Absolutely, it takes a lot of effort to move forward despite the fear but it’s worth it.💕

  27. Love that quote. With anxiety my best tool is to ask myself “what are you so afraid of” and mostly it does the trick. Also Doo Wop is my JAM!

    1. Thanks so much. For me, I try to write things down to understand how I’m feeling and where it’s stemming from. Yesss that song is amazing, the lyrics are brilliant!

  28. Thanks, trying! Lots of Ningxia Red being consumed!!!

    1. Oh good, I’m sure that will help!

  29. Glad you enjoyed your time socialising, Pooja…
and glad you back too 😋🤗

    a profound quote to truths…🤍

    1. Thanks so much and so happy to be back 🤗 Thanks 💓

      1. 🤍🤗🌷

  30. Awesome quote and song !! <3

    1. Thanks so much! 💕😊

  31. Glad to hear you’ve been busy and socializing. Catching up with old friends is always nice💕.

    1. Thanks so much, it was really nice and we had a good chat for almost three hours.

  32. I always enjoy the quotes you choose, as they are always clever and meaningful. Fear is such a powerful emotion that can really mess with us.

Sounds like your week is going well, and that’s great! All we have is this moment now.

    1. Thanks, so glad you enjoy them. True, fear is so overwhelming. Absolutely, we need to live in the moment!

      1. My pleasure, and I hope the rest of your week goes well!

        1. Thanks and wishing you the same!

          1. Thank you! 🤗

            1. You’re very welcome! 🤗

  33. yes…..there are always words we wished we would have said….would those words have changed a life….saying sorry, or my biggest fear is not saying I love you when that loved one leaves the home….you never know what those final words someone hears might happen….always being honest doesn’t always end on a great place, but you never know

    1. That’s true, we all have words we wished we said. And telling those we love how we feel is important.

  34. Great quote. Glad to hear that you are getting out and socializing.

I see fear as having three main response mechanisms, fight, flight or freeze. I view freeze as the most debilitating and dangerous because it does not provide any action to move away from or deal with the fear. Taking action seems to be the theme coming from the universe to me this week.

    1. Thanks so much. It’s true, freezing is the worst because you’re just sort of stuck there.

  35. Pooja, I know several people who make plans for a trip, a big adventure. While it’s comfortably out on the horizon, 6 months or so, they’re fine… but as “launch date” nears, they get more and more anxious, sometimes to the point of scrubbing the trip. My mom was like that. A cruise? Next summer? (this was Xmas) Cool, let’s go! Increasing anxiety through Spring… the emergence of actual symptoms (stomach aches, headaches, dr visits, etc) as the date drew closer.

My dad always made sure to get trip insurance bc 90% of the time, my mom would bail 😢

    1. I used to be that way too because my anxiety was quite bad but thankfully I’ve gotten better over time. Trip insurance is a smart move lol 😅

  36. I love the quote
    So inspiring!

    1. Thanks so much!

    Glad things are going well!

    1. Thank you!

  38. True and worthy of keeping in mind, thanks.

    1. Thanks so much.

  39. Great quote and song Pooja! glad you’re having fun and enjoyed a cool friend!!! 💕

    1. Thanks so much! 💞

  40. Pooja, I appreciate the quote from Suzy Kassem. For our dreams to go forward and have a fighting chance to bear good fruit, we need to be willing to take that first, fearless step.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, you’re absolutely right.

  41. It’s good to hear you are doing well and enjoying some free time, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much, it was a good week last week. Hope you’re well too.

  42. True, and it’s the fear of fear itself that imbues meaning into everything…
    Always be happy and blessed🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    1. Yes, very true. Thanks so much for your lovely comment.

  43. That’s a great quote and it’s completely true. With most things, you can try until you figure it out but fear keeps the tryin from happening.

I also really like Lauryn Hill’s voice. Great song!

    1. Thanks so much. I love that song too.

Absolutely, fear is the biggest thing that holds us back.

      1. You’re welcome!

It feels like a lot of it is just mental reframing. It’s not failure so much as “the first attempt.” The people I know who seem fearless mostly just look at things differently.

        1. Mindset definitely matters, some people refuse to give up no matter what and they’re usually the kind of people that succeed.

  44. Loving the quote, and anxiety about the future, now, that is me tonight, too! All too real! I’m stewing over a few things, and my anxiety has ramped up about 10 notches!

    1. Thank you and yes very much so, anxiety is tough but we have to try our best to live despite it.
