Six Word Story:

Constantly derided, no love found anymore.

About This Six Word Story:

Deride- to laugh at or insult contemptuously, to subject to usually bitter or contemptuous ridicule or criticism, to express a lack of respect or approval of. (Source: deride)

As you guys know, I’m always trying to grow my vocabulary and have been trying my best to learn and use new words every week. Today, I didn’t have much else to write about since I’m still dealing with writer’s block. So, I decided to share a six word story using a new word I learnt this week- deride.

The story itself is not necessary about romantic love. I think it could apply to many types of relationships. It’s pretty much about how some relationships turn toxic and the person becomes your biggest enemy. I’ve seen people with friends that constantly criticise them or partners that always speak ill of them. It’s sad really. When someone you love becomes your biggest hater.

And sometimes it happens with family members too. Some family members can be so negative and hateful. It really ruins everything.

  1. Hello Pooja, hope all is well with you.

    1. Thank you, yes I’m doing well and hope you are too.

      1. Awesome. Yes, I am too.

  2. Love the new word!!!

    1. Thanks, I like it too!

  3. It ridiculed me from far away

    1. As often happens.

  4. Say no to bullying. Hi, Pooja!

    1. Agreed! Hi 👋🏼

  5. ob la dee
    ob la da

      1. as per sir paul it s the bloody white album. i would skip rev number nine unless ur a maschist gudka.

  6. I experienced something like that at work and therefore decided to make a career change. I am not sure if I can but it’s so tempting to abandon education for good

    1. Sorry to hear about that, it must have been an awful experience. I hope you can change career paths if that’s what you feel is best.

      1. I hope so too

  7. It’s good you are working to increase your vocabulary, Pooja. It helps to be a better writer.

    1. Thanks, that’s exactly why I’m doing it. I want to improve my writing.

  8. Very nice

    1. Thank you.

  9. Take your derision and head lice.

    1. Lol love that SWS.

  10. Ultimate care, learn to love self.

    1. Absolutely, so vital to love oneself.

  11. When the people who love you become your biggest haters, that is your cue to keep away from them.

    1. Absolutely, you don’t need people like that in your life.

  12. Yes, I like that word! And boy how I know how this feels.

    1. Thanks and yeah it really sucks when this happens!

  13. As I get older..ish… I am always wondering how people could hate someone they use to love. There is no need for any animosity. We had something great together, let that be the lasting memory. Of course the breakups are never meant to be easy, and sometimes can be very uncivil, but once the war is over, find peace..bless the other person as they move on or as you move on. Life is too short to hate on anyone… Especially someone who once occupied your heart In A good way.
Loved the 6 word story btw. 😊

    1. Honestly, it’s so odd to me too especially because it happens more often than we think. It can be tough to break up or see yourself growing apart but the hate is unnecessary.
      Thanks so much ☺️

      1. You’re welcome 🤗

  14. I align myself with Nigel there. Thanks for the read.

    1. Thanks so much.

  15. profound thoughts, Pooja.

    hope you well 🤍💫

    1. Thanks so much. I am and hope you are too 😊

      1. 🤍🤗🌷

  16. You’ve done a great job of putting so many emotions in just 6 words

    1. Thank you so much, really appreciate that.

      1. You’re most welcome

        1. 🩵🩷

  17. It’s a sad story, mainly because we’ve all seen it in real life too many times 🙁

    1. Yes, unfortunately most of us have experienced it at least once or twice.

  18. Thanks for sharing the word Pooja and hope you are gradually getting better with your writer’s block…I love the choice of the word! It, unfortunately, applies to this world where some would engage in negative criticism and mockery rather than helping each other grow…

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, the writer’s block is slowly improving. Yes, unfortunately the world can be a cruel place at times.

  19. That’s sad, people full of ego, they feel good by putting others down, which more often roots from hating themselves. I too in my early years thought that was the coping mechanisms when things went wrong but as I grew, I knew that we hate in others what we hate in ourselves.

    1. I so agree, often that hate comes from internal hate or unhappiness. When someone hates you it has more to do with them than you. At least in my experience.

      1. Not your experience alone it’s for everyone.

        1. Yeah, I think it’s like that for most people.

  20. risible popular tides deride true wisdom
    [Utcoozhoo always says]

    1. “risible” is new to me, now I’ve learnt two new words.

      1. We might be the last people on Earth to us ‘risible’ because most of my idiot English teachers are dead, and the children are such champion coiners that a laugh can only be made by appointment.

  21. Decrying derision, we laughed in love

    1. Great SWS

  22. Love derided lets cynics be unloved.

    1. Another great SWS

  23. Yeah, because life is already hard and sometimes you have to choose you.

    1. Exactly, you have to put yourself first.

  24. Dying derided, loved me once, you.

  25. Seems to me … that you’re stuck- “dealing with writer’s block.” -in many ways. Take a break?

    1. Yeah, taking a break and it’s sort of helping.

  26. Derided love and thus kiss me.

  27. Such a piteous act, deriding friends.

People that hate and are full of anger usually lack self-confidence. I find it best to walk away from toxic relationships.

    1. Love that SWS and so true. They usually hate themselves and take it out on others. It’s best to cut such people out.

      1. Life is too short to tolerate the rude and the evil. Pooja, and thank you.

        1. Absolutely agree.

  28. Your story is sadly just in observation. Is this too far?–She cringes in defense. Moving out.

    1. It’s sad but I love your SWS because it’s true. Lots of those toxic relationships end up like that.

      1. Thanks. I appreciate the quality of insight in your response to my entry. I still find your response apt. Constant derision erodes love. True–deriders take note.

        1. Thanks so much. Couldn’t agree more.

  29. Interesting share PG

    1. Thanks so much.

  30. Deride + Slang (here) = (Quit) Ridin’ my a$$ (lol) and it’s the word that should be used for gaslighting. Berate is another weapon of choice by those who wish to employ words as arsenal. I too love vocabulary and with being half deaf; I hear words, cliches, … a little differently (haha)! Hope you have an awesome weekend, Pooja <3 … I will say when you have writer's block you still maintain great content, as always! 🙂

    1. Lol love that. So true, words can often be used as a weapon. Have an awesome weekend too and thank you!

  31. Relentlessly derided, by my adoptive parents.

    1. That is so sad.

      1. Yes indeed it is. My childhood was a nightmare, filled with severe sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental and emotional abuse. I suffered for from the time I was 6 years old, up until I was 19.
Worst 15 years of my life. I’m 43 and am still healing and still trying to recover from all the trauma and abuse.

        1. That’s truly horrible, I’m so sad you went through that but I’m glad you’re trying to recover. No child should have to experience abuse.

          1. Amen! Yes I agree 110%. No child should ever have to suffer abuse. There is certainly not enough being done to stop it. I just saw on the news this morning about a girl who got raped🥺

Every time I see or hear that another child has been victimized, it angers me. I want more than anything to castrate their 🍆!! Sorry if that sounds blunt but it’s a punishment that every predator deserves to have done. Prison is just not enough now a days.

            1. No, I understand. Abusers get such ridiculously short sentences and that is if they get charged at all. We need tougher rules.

              1. Amen to that! I agree 110%!

  32. I have removed all the people from my life who derided me or others! Very liberating not to be on eggshells, and to feel great about myself!

    1. Same here, most of those people are permanently cut off!

  33. “Paint the world on blank pages.”
    Bonus
“A book cover is a door.”
Those are mine. I feel like the first could be about literal painting but I was thinking more about writing. And I have always loved the word deride/derision even though it describes something that is so ugly. Good job using it!

    1. Oh I love those.

I thought of it as being about writing too because that’s what we think about a lot I guess.

  34. My head is pounding – go away!

    1. I feel that so much!

  35. The story is so sad. I believe that if love turns to hate it was never love to begin with. It could codependence or some other dysfunction, but not love.

I hope you are having some luck getting past your writer’s block.

Handwritten Will, horror ensued by griffonage.

    1. I very much agree, it may have seemed like love but it wasn’t.

Thanks, I’m trying to go out more and refresh my mind and that’s been helping.

That’s a fantastic six word story. And “griffonage” is another new word I learnt thanks to it.

  36. Very thought-provoking Pooj!!

    1. Thanks so much!

  37. A sad story. I constantly feed my creative well. I’m so wrapped up in the author career that I need to constantly create original content and write the next work. Many tools help me:
    Podcasts
    Other books
Good tv shows with epic stories
Listening to friends, family and even strangers as they unload experiences
Finding zen time to just be in a state of nothingness
Exercising creativity in all walks of life by tweaking what can be tweaked.

It’s sad when friends become enemies. I never want to experience that again with anyone I know
    Hugs, Pooj🖤❣️

    1. That’s great, I’ll try some of those out. Hugs 💕

  38. This is really good (though depressing.) I know the word you used here is “love” but the story makes me imagine someone who has lost the respect of his/her peers. A lot of people spend years as an unsuccessful actor / musician / writer / etc. and endure this type of thing from friends and family. That then leads me to think of a SWS reply, once the derided party succeeds:

“How do you like me now?”

    1. Thanks and that’s so true. Love that reply, goes so well with the original.

      1. You’re welcome!

The credit for my reply must go to the late, great, Mr. Toby Keith.

  39. Love this , good job puja ♥️

    1. Thanks so much ♥️

  40. Interesting six word story.

    1. Thanks so much.

True…it is hard to see people in bad situations. Interesting post.

    1. Thanks so much and yes absolutely.

        You’re welcome

  42. I haven’t used this word before, but I will when I write an article. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

    1. Happy to share it and have a great weekend too.

  43. I doubt that I’ve used this word often, but it is always good to seek out ways to expand one’s vocabulary. Here’s a six word story: Overlooking yesterday’s negativity, this sunrise forgets.

    1. Yes, very much so. Great six word story.

  44. No Love? Cut, run, and laugh! 6 words to live by 🤣😎🙃

    1. Lol agreed 😅
