Six Word Story #214

Six Word Story:

New life, new start, new problems.

Six Word Story

About This Six Word Story:

Woah, it’s been so long since I wrote a six word story. Literally been forever. This one was in response to Kevin’s No Theme Thursday prompt image. He has lots of great prompt images, do check out his blog.

Now, back to this particular one. Well, I know many of practice the art of escapism. I call it art, my therapist calls it a defence mechanism. But wasn’t she the one telling me to look at things in a more positive light? Lol, kidding. She’s brilliant but I love denial. Another one of my fun defence mechanism techniques. But back to the story before I start ranting.

I think many of us travel or migrate because we need an escape. We feel like we need a break from our lives or a place where we can start over. The grass is greener on the other side, right? Wrong. Here’s a very harsh reality check- life is never going to be perfect. You’re always going to have some problems or the other. If you run away from one set of problems, another set of problems will arise. It’s inevitable. The best thing to do is accept the problems and live your best life despite them.

Did you enjoy this six word story? What do you see when you look at the prompt image? Let me know in the comments below because I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts. Or simply stop by and say hi!

Edit/Note:

WP is causing me so many headaches for the last few days. I’m unable to visit blogs that have liked my post. My screen just goes blank and refuses to load. Hard to explain but if I haven’t visited your blog and liked your post, that’s why. My apologies. I hope this glitch is eventually fixed and if not I will have to do the dreaded- talk to the Happiness Engineers.

If you enjoyed this post don’t forget to like, follow, share and comment!

  1. The image is really nice, the words made me think of marriage and divorce. Hmm…

    1. Thanks so much. Oh yeah, I can definitely see that.

Thanks Again For Inspiring my 6 Word Story for the Day..:)

    1. So glad the post inspired your six word story. Absolutely, we’re all art at the end of the day.

      1. Pleasure
        With SMiles🙌

  3. My 6 words in response “Don’t run, stand up and fight 😊.”

    1. Yes, love those six words 😀

  4. Pooja, would you prefer new problems to old problems? sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s worse but one thing i know for sure change is vital, so i vote for new problems, might regret it later. New life, new start sound good even if it means new problems, ha-ha

    1. Hmmm, I think it depends. If the new problems are more easily dealt with I would pick those too.

      1. Haha, if only we could pick and choose…

        1. Life would be a lot easier lol.

  5. Epic mini-story!
(for what it’s worth – I have the blank screen problem too – sigh)
    Linda 🙂

    1. Thanks! Oh no, sorry you’re experiencing it too. Hope they fix it soon.

      1. Still happening as we speak…

        1. For me as well, so frustrating.

  6. So true and goes well with the image. In Spanish we say, “La calentura no está en las sábanas” which means, “the fever is not in the sheets” you can change sheets but the fever is within you:)

    1. That’s a smart way to think of it and I totally agree.

  7. I always enjoy six word stories!

    1. Thank you!

  8. Oh interesting!!

Are you travelling somewhere? Starting anything new??

    🙂

    Wp and sadness engineer
    Always a trouble. 🥱

    1. Thank you! I wish I was traveling and starting something new but not any time soon 🥲

  9. Runaway past followers her to future.

    1. That’s a really good one 👏🏽

      1. Thank you!

        1. You’re welcome, thanks for sharing it!

  10. “New life, new start, new problems.” I like it. “…new problems” does not necessarily mean worse problems. It could mean more manageable problems. You can’t escape all problems but sometimes you may have to start over with a new direction. Like a work place that is turning into a bad place. Should you stay until the problems are really bad or jump ship? You will have problems at your new place too but after changing your work you may consider yourself lucky that you don’t have to deal with old and much worse problems anymore. Don’t do things hastily though.

    1. Oh absolutely, I think some problems are easier to manage than others but the thing is there’s always problems. Whether small or big. We just have to do our best.

  11. WordPress continuously evolves in their site, and it can be a little confusing until you figure out what they have done.

    1. Yes, some changes are good once you figure them out but I think this one is a glitch.

  12. Pooja I miss you. Just take care. Are you beginning a new life. And where have you flown to you were in Canada??

    ❤️

    1. Miss you too. Thanks so much. I’m in Nairobi now 😊

      1. Alright…. Sounds like your home 🏠. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

        1. Yes, happily at home. Thanks ☺️

  13. I recall an old saying to the effect of no matter how long or far you travel, life will always be there waiting when you return.

Very wise six word story, Pooja. 🙏🙏

    1. Yes, that’s such a true saying. Thanks so much 😊

      1. My pleasure, of course. 😊

  14. New start new adventure, problem always there.

    1. Yes, exactly.

  15. I’m a long-time escape artist, too. Recovering. 😊

    1. Me too. After one more move. 😉

    2. Haha same here, fingers crossed we both learn to stay grounded in reality 🤞🏽

  16. My youngest son and I had a conversation just last week about this very topic, Pooja. Great post.💐

    1. That’s so interesting and thanks so much 😊

  17. I hope that the problem you have with WP can be solved very soon !!! Cheer up !!! 😊

    1. Yeah, usually glitches go away in a few days so hope that happens with this one too. Thanks! ☺️

  18. “Wherever you go, there you are.” (Variously attributed to Confucius, originator of almost every pithy saying, and Bette Midler, originator of the rest of them. Take your pick I guess.) Great humor here and an excellent response to the prompt image. Makes me want to write the whole story, though. . . . stop it, Pooja! 🙂 And I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the grass actually IS greener on the other side of the fence. (I keep going back and forth to check, so I’m POSITIVE. 😆

    1. No matter where that quote originated from, it’s so true. Thanks so much! 😀 Aha I guess I need to try switching from one side to another too 😅

  19. A lot said in 6 words. Excellent Pooja

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You’re welcome ☺️

  20. I think running, creates more problem because you’re influencing the idea that you can’t be content where you are! Also denial isn’t appropriate, but acceptance and surrender may be they keys to happier life…

    1. Thanks and so agree. When we try to run away, our problems still follow us in one way or another. I think acceptance is the biggest key to happiness.

  21. I had a similar problem with WP a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly my menus changed around and things actually are working much better for me now once I figured out where things were now.

    1. I’m glad you figured it out. I don’t mind the changes but I think this is just a glitch because the page just goes blank. Hopefully, it will fix itself soon.

  22. Your six word story describes my life at the moment.

Looking forward, leaving sorrows far behind.

    1. I love your six word story, here’s to a new beginning.

  23. Very uplifting story and thanks for sharing Pooja. Hope all is well.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m well and hope you are too.

  24. I like the six-word story. In the prompt, I see a woman who is leaving all of her past hurts behind. Although she is not showing it on her face, you can see it in her eyes. I can see that she is thinking of what is ahead of her, and the new life she is going to have once she gets to where she is going. That’s what I see in the prompt.

    1. Thanks so much. I see that too and she’s both sad and hopeful.

    1. I live in the tropics so maybe to somewhere colder.

  25. Interesting as always, thanks.

    1. Thanks so much.

  26. Ha! When I read the six words in the reader, where you went with it is EXACTLY where my mind went too 🙂 You can’t run away from all the problems. You might be able to run away from the immediate ones, but new ones always pop up. I’m currently dealing with this with someone at church and it would be nice to just walk away and not have to deal with the issues. The problem is, it’s me, so even if I left, I’d end up having the same problem with somebody else somewhere else 😀

I am very sorry to hear WP has been screwing you over. It’s actually been pretty good for me recently with changes in the reader that are actually useful and “almost” common sense. Hopefully things will straighten themselves out without having to involve the whinypants-blametheuser-ignoreyou “happiness” engineers :-/

    1. That’s the problem, we can’t run away from ourselves. We just have to deal with the problems as they come, even if running away sounds more fun lol.

I’m glad you haven’t experienced any glitches lately. Fingers crossed they work themselves out because I don’t have the energy to deal with the sadness engineers right now 🥲

  27. The grass is not always greener on the other side. I’m slowly learning that a positive change of attitude will make anyone excel even in the harshest of conditions. Lovely read <3

    1. Absolutely, your attitude makes a huge difference. Thanks so much.

  28. No one can outrun their past. ☺️ But I agree, problems or challenges will always exist. We just have to make the best of life. 🙏

    1. Exactly, some things just stay with us. And problems arise no matter what. We just have to learn to adjust 💕

  29. It’s the ‘no matter where you go, there you are’ issue. 😀 You got a lot into those 6 words!

    1. Yeah, we try to run but can’t run away from ourselves 😅

      1. Human version of chasing a tail, maybe. 🙂

        1. Haha yes, something like that 🙂

  30. day gift sun lift grace face

    1. Great SWS.

  31. Good story and point, Pooja. With any life, problems will follow. But it’s how we react to them that makes a difference either in a positive way or negative. 🩷

    1. Thanks so much. I so agree, our attitude and perspective make the biggest difference 💕

  32. Great story and message, Pooja. Problems will follow us until we take action to resolve.

I’ve experienced a few issues with WP and sites slow loading and also, not being able to leave comments but the glitches seem to be few and far between. 💕

    1. Thanks so much and yes absolutely. We can run but they’ll always find us.

I hadn’t had major issues with WP for a bit but this one is getting on my nerves. Thankfully, most glitches fix themselves eventually and I’m hoping that will be the case with this one too 😊

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja. Hopefully, the glitches will fix themselves.

  33. Good story, Pooja, and with a good moral. Your story pairs well with the image.

    1. Thanks so much, glad you liked the story.

  34. Eschewing impossible Kings, she embraced Adonis.

    1. Interesting SWS.

  35. Escaping flummery, she embraced him ecstatically.

    1. Hopefully, he was brutally honest.

  36. How are things one plane over?

    1. Not as nice as one expects (unfortunately). The parenthesis doesn’t count as an extra word lol.

      1. No, they don’t count. And you’re right. The plane is always greener on the other side of the sky. In response to your earlier question (and thank you), I continue to look for another place to live. Rental prices went way up during COVID, and wouldn’t you know they didn’t go back down. Capitalism at its worst. But I keep looking. I hope you’re having a fine week, new problems (if any) and all. Oh, and I’m having a problem with the “Like” when replying. I don’t know if it’s taking (all that happens here is the star disappears). I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong.
Or is it WordPress at its finest?

        1. Sorry to hear that, capitalism has created havoc with the rental and buying in Kenya too. We’ve been looking to move as well but things have become so expensive now. Hope you’re able to find the right place for you that is affordable.
That sounds like a WordPress glitch, hopefully it will resolve itself.

  37. She’s in her seat. Where she is supposed to be. But what a missed opportunity to not open the plane window shutter and look out and see the beauty. You don’t have to want to be out there, you can admire it from afar and appreciate the beauty for what it is.

    1. Oh yes, absolutely. You can appreciate the beauty from a distance too.

  38. The SWS is a reminder that in every level of life, there will be problems.

    1. Yes, exactly. Some easier than others but problems will always exist.

  39. Great story and pic, Pooja <3 !!! I'm all about escapism, denial, and out-running problems; so, I jetted to the coast last week. It was beautiful, breathtaking, and picture perfect. 🙂 The only problem was I had to leave (Waaaahhhh) !!! You are so right … sadly! But I will forever keep a look-out ~ LOLOL 😉

    1. Thanks so much! So glad you had a nice vacation and I so get it, hate it when vacations end 😭

      1. It was the first in so many years … and I’m still pouting its over !!!

        1. Hopefully you can take another one soon!

  40. I like your six word story and yes, you are correct. It’s nice to start over if you want to, but to run away from problems is not the answer. Life is not perfect and there will always be problems of some sort.

    1. Exactly, starting over is fine but we shouldn’t expect a perfect life. Problems will always come up no matter what.

  41. What if I had said yes.

    1. What if indeed, great SWS.

  42. I can relate to this story!
And in response to your note – I’ve been away from WordPress lately because the screen keeps going blank and it’s been frustrating.

    1. Thanks! Oh no, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue too. I hope they fix it soon. It’s very annoying.

  43. Lol at your therapist calling your escapism a defense mechanism! I had to crack up at that because that is something my therapist would say to me too! I enjoyed your six word story a lot Pooja! Xo

  44. We often take the old ones with us!

  45. Full of optimism. Loved the approach pooja . Beautiful short story

    1. Thank you so much.

  46. Needed to hear this! I seem to be in hermit mode/isolation but believe its a trauma response afraid to let anyone get close to me.

    1. I can be like that too and often too scared to get too close to anyone because I’m afraid it’ll end up hurting me. But it’s important not to let our trauma hold us back.

  47. A life without problems, is dull, mundane and boring with no challenges in…what kind of life would that be?

    1. Yes, that’s true.

  48. New solutions, new adventures, new achievements

    1. Love that SWS, so motivating.
