Quote Of The Day

Eckhart Tolle Quote:

Eckhart Tolle Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

You guys may have noticed my absence last week. I didn’t post for a few days because one of my cousins was getting married. It was a lovely wedding although I’m not the biggest fan of wearing Indian clothes. They can get a little uncomfortable at times. Anyway, a lot went on during this wedding.

First, I found out my cousin is really good friends with this guy I had the biggest crush on in high school. So, I randomly ended up seeing this guy after so many years. He’s still absolutely gorgeous for anyone that was wondering lol. My sister and cousin brother (not the one getting married) wanted me to go talk to him. But honestly, he’s wayyyy out of my league. So, I just creepily stared at him like I did in high school. Brings back so many memories lol.

Also, I was having lunch with some cousins and my sister on the wedding day and we were eating the same food. It’s made of like potato and fried. And everyone was like ew, it’s so gross but I loved it. Like it tasted so good to me, I couldn’t help it. But I had to pretend and be like oh yeah, it’s so gross. Lol. It reminded me of this scene from friends:

  1. It’s not just you who was absent Pooja. I think half the blogging world is taking the summer off 😀
Which as long as they call come back, is fine 😉

    1. True, a lot of people have been off WP recently. Absolutely, I hope they have fun as long as they come back eventually.

  2. I don’t understand, why did you have to pretend like you didn’t like something when you really liked it?!

“And everyone was like ew, it’s so gross but I loved it. Like it tasted so good to me, I couldn’t help it. But I had to pretend and be like oh yeah, it’s so gross. Lol”

I’m so used to being the oddball out with everything, so I’m just wondering, why pretend?

    1. I think it was social anxiety because I wasn’t just with my sister and cousins I’m close to but with some family members I’m very uncomfortable around. Usually, I’m okay with being the oddball around people I’m comfortable with 😅

  3. I think the quote is absolutely correct, Pooja, since humans can’t move forward or backward in time. I wish we could! Something similar happened to me back in 2017, I found out that my daughter was best friends with my old buddy Dave’s daughter. It’s a small world!

    1. Oh wow, that’s such a random but cool coincidence!

  4. How fun you got to see your high school crush again! Glad you had a great time at your cousin’s wedding.
We have something fun planned for tonight…we are part of a 4-H club, where kids work on projects with animals (like our pasture lamb project we did in April and May) and a variety of other interest based projects. Tonight there is a County Fair dance and we are taking Ellis. Have no idea what it will be but families will be there. Kind of excited. Elliot is at camp this week, so he won’t be going. Ellis will need to fill him in on all the details. Wonder what kind of music they’ll play!

    1. It was definitely fun! Oh nice, that sounds great. Hope you guys have a good time.

  5. Hey Pooja. I’ve been working on my short story. I’m working on act one for now. It’s helping me to focus more and not try to overdo it. I also went shopping today and got a hippie Halloween disco ball from Michael’s. It spins, glows and makes the same shadow oval shapes like a real disco ball 🙂

    1. Love it! My middle name is Wells and I went to Michaels today and bought a wall-art sign that says, “Crystals, Tarot, Sage & Coffee,” because if you can’t make fun of yourself, who CAN you make fun of?

      1. Hi Camilla. That’s awesome!

    2. Oh nice, glad your writing is going well. And that’s such a fun costume.

  6. Liked the quote but take courage as you have a lot of moments ahead too.

    1. Thanks and yes very much so.

  7. This is hysterical, Pooja! (As in, I genuinely laughed.) Zillenials are, like, 80’s redux. Rad. I love the quote! It’s really true, but so easy to loose track of. Thanks for visiting my site and enjoying “Trinity.”

    1. Haha thanks, so glad the post made you laugh! It was my pleasure and thanks for stopping by too.

  8. Hey Pooj, just stopping in for a quick hi! Whaaat? Out of your league? Did you tell him you’re a published author???

I liked the quote. It’s a great reminder to be present and in the present moment.

Me? I’m very busy with family staying here for two plus weeks, our youngest son’s wedding this weekend, and I just finished writing my speech tonight. Hectic but good times… excited for my boy’s wedding! I’m kind of missing blogging but there is no time for that right now, and it’s all good. Take good care.

    1. Haha no, unfortunately I didn’t speak to him at all but maybe if I ever see him again I’ll lead with that lol.

Oh nice, so much going on but very exciting. Hope the wedding goes well! Of course, your son’s wedding comes first.

      1. Thanks so much! I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic.

  9. The quote is very true. I wish you had thought of it during your cousin’s wedding. No one is way out of your league Pooja. Please don’t put yourself down like that. Perhaps he was sitting there thinking that you were way out of his league. I hope you have more cousins who may marry and invite him so that you get a second chance at reconnecting.

    1. Yes, it’s a very true quote. Focusing on the present is vital. Thanks, that’s very sweet of you to say. Fingers crossed I’ll see him again someday and he’ll be single.

  10. it’s a quote I’ve heard before, and it’s so right……..

    1. It is, focusing on the present is vital.

  11. I hope you talk to this guy ASAP ❤️💕

    1. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽😊

      1. Yes, that’s it 😊🙏

  12. A very good quote to remind us to be mindful. Weddings do tend to get hectic and sometimes stressful. Im glad you enjoyed the food though.

    1. Yes, absolutely. This wedding wasn’t too bad though. The wedding I attended last year for another cousin was crazy hectic. I got sick after due to all the stress.

      1. 👍🏼😍👍🏼

  13. Congratulations to your cousin. I think that the quote by Eckhart Tolle is a good one. However, we do need to plan for the future and even though the current moment is all we have, well at the current moment, we shouldn’t forget about tomorrow.

    1. I don’t know that there is no simple current moment with eyes open. There are scans through memory all over the brain (that take less than a second) just for object recognition. Then there are a few quirky instincts: the brain is alert to long skinny things that move in the trees that might be snakes, and of course dangerous noises like explosions and thunder. The present moment has 10,000 things all at once. Maybe all we have is our present focus of attention, or what role we have at a given moment, or focused listening for a moment. Maybe hence a choice moment. But how often do we get to choose? Geez, this must mean that billions of moments go by without savoring the look of the cake and eating it too. Maybe both are required: imagining her and having her. So perhaps, all we have is the present two moments. Maybe three: imagine, have, and be.

    2. Thanks. Yes, I think it’s good to prepare for the future but also try to focus on the present when we need to.

  14. Sometimes it is better to just talk to the guy and see what happens. I liked this guy that I saw at a wedding. I talked to him and realized there was no chemistry. At least I know. Always good to take a chance and just find out.

  15. I do believe the quote is true, since we cannot control the future. It is also a reminder to let go of control and worry. I don’t think we ever forget tomorrow anyhow. We are humans for sure. Humans plan and worry. Yet, this is a profound truth, a truth to be mediated upon, so we may awaken, and actually really appreciate and enjoy our lives. Thank for the quote, and thank for sharing stories from your life experience 🌞

    1. Yes, we can plan and plan but things can go so unexpectedly still. True, it’s in our nature to worry about the future. Thanks and glad to share both.

  16. It is true that we only have this moment, but I still think it is wise to plan for the future.
Glad to hear you had fun at the wedding. It is said that weddings are the best place to meet a future spouse 🙂

    1. Yes, I think it’s good to plan for the future but not get too overly obsessed with it (which is what I often do lol). Haha, fingers crossed I’ll meet him at the next wedding I have to attend.

      1. Just go in with the attitude that he has to prove that is in your league, of published author, successful blogger and potential candidate for ruler of the universe. 🙂

        1. Ah yes, I forgot that I threw my hat into the race for ruler of the universe 🙂

    1. Hi there! I don’t go to many weddings but recently all my cousins are at that age where people start getting married so I’ve attended a number of wedding in the last two years or so. I love long pants, I rarely ever wear shorts. But yeah, I don’t think it’s inappropriate to wear them if your dad enjoyed wearing shorts too.
I love “We Didn’t Start The Fire” and coincidently was just listening to it yesterday while making lunch. I always try to sing along to it but fail haha.
      Have a nice week too.

Hm, wondering if gorgeous guy knows you have a blog. 🙂

    1. Fingers crossed he never finds it lol 🙂

  19. Yes very true, must bother about this only. Thanks.

    1. Absolutely, thanks so much.

  20. Your blog as usual was great!. Relax and enjoy your life. Missed opportunity at the wedding.
    Have a great day!

    1. Thank you so much! Have a great day too!

  21. So true about the quote…when you think about it, most people dwell on the past or future because they feel like there’s comfort, but honestly they don’t even exist! All we have is this moment.

How could you be so shy to go talk to your crush! Lol I get you crushes are somehow intimidating since they way up 👆 on the pedestal lol, tell you what! it’s gonna hurt you couldn’t make the move.

Loved that scene you shared, couldn’t stop laughing.

    1. Yes, I think it’s best to focus most on the present.

Lol, I just get very flustered around crushes! Fingers crossed I can find the courage to talk to him next time I see him 🤞🏽

That scene is so funny and now I got to live it in real life 😅

  22. That is an excellent quote, Pooja, and a good reminder to live in the moment. I think you should have talked to your crush! You have nothing to lose. ❣️ I also noticed blogosphere has slowed down and I feel it is due to summer vacays and back-to-school preparations. 💗

    1. Thanks so much and yes it’s a good reminder to try to focus on the present. Maybe I’ll try to talk to him the next time I see him but I don’t know. I get too flustered around my crushes lol 😂
Oh yes, I think many bloggers have taken a break right now but should be back by the end of summer 💕

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja! 💗

  23. Indian clothes stood out to me because it seems like the cultures from the hottest places always seem to have traditional clothing that does nothing for your body temperature. 😅 Remember when wearing a Sari was SOOO IN with white girls in like 2014? Where did all those garments end up?

    1. Omg yessss and in the 2000’s there was a major Indian fashion trend where Hollywood stars would wear like bangles and Indian inspired jewellery. I think Gwen Stephanie started it.
Oh no, Indian clothes are not like that at all although I know what you mean. They look like you would have a heatstroke in them but I’ve literally never even felt a little hot wearing Indian clothes no matter the weather. But maybe it’s worse in India because Kenyan weather is never too bad and I forget it gets hotter in other places 😅

  24. That’s a great quote. But we often forget to live in the present. Like you could have gone and reintroduced yourself to your high school crush. 😉

If you don’t follow the trends blindly Indian clothes can be very comfortable. One should not go for too blingy ones. They can be extremely uncomfortable.

    1. So true. Lol, I’m one of those people that so rarely lives in the present which is why I needed this quote as a reminder 😅
True, I don’t find Indian clothes particularly uncomfortable but the sleeves of the dress I was wearing was really irritating my skin since I have very sensitive skin. I think as long as the clothes aren’t too heavy they’re pretty comfy.

      1. That’s the story of most of us! 😂

If it’s chafing against the skin, it is the most uncomfortable. 😣

        1. Lol yes exactly 😆

  25. All we have is this moment, I feel it very strongly now. Back home from Colorado, the cool weather on the Pacific North west makes me so grateful.
Time with family can be lots of fun even if you have to stay stylishly Indian. The guy you are talking about is a classic blast from the past story. Been there, done that

    1. Yes, I think we all experience it. True, it was so fun hanging out with family and taking a short break. Oh yeah, most of us have those experiences with past crushes. I’ve seen this one around once before too.

  26. Your retelling of “this guy” made me chuckle – thanks for that. I would love the honor of attending an Indian wedding. From photos I’ve seen, the ceremony and clothes, as you mentioned, look beautiful.

    1. Haha thanks so much. If I ever get married, consider yourself invited 😊

      1. Awesome! Hurry up! 😂 Teasing, of course.

        1. It’ll probably happen soon because things happen when we least expect them, start buying some Indian outfits lol 😅

          1. Love your attitude! 🙌🏻 Is there a particular color scheme I should shop for? 😄

            1. Any colour except red or maroon- never wear those to an Indian wedding since only the bride wears red or maroon 😀

              1. Noted! Thank you for the tip. 😊

                1. 😊💕

  27. Loved the Friends clip. LOL. I’m surprised you didn’t talk to the guy you think is cute. You’re adorable, Pooja. Be confident, Girlfriend.

    1. Haha yeah, that was one of my favourite episodes because I’m always the odd one out with foods/drinks and now I got to experience it in real life. Aw thanks, if I ever see him again I think I’ll just go for it.

  28. I’m glad you enjoyed the potato dish. Sorry that the wedding clothes might not have been so comfortable. As for your crush, well, you’re pretty talented; so I’m not sure how this person could be out of your league. Though I understand you’re looking from afar. I think the words from Edkhart Tolle are correct. Now is what we have. Contemplative folk such as Tolle seem to emphasis that–that is, the now. Funny, it’s also the core of existentialism that folk would not tend to pair with contemplative philosophy. In reality, of course, it is what we know we have. The now. The next is not a sure thing, and we no longer have the past, not in the same way. I hope your health is good and now (hah, now) July is wrapping up well for you.

    1. Thanks so much. The clothes weren’t too bad, just a little itchy which was annoying. That’s so kind of you to say. But I think being around him took me back to my socially anxious self like I was when I was a teenager. Also, his family is one of the richest well known family. They’re literal millionaires. So, a little out of my league in that way too lol.
I always read these quotes and decide to focus on the now but in a few days I’m anxious about the future again lol. Being human is so hard sometimes. Thanks so much. Hope you’re in good health too and that July was good for you. Did you find a better flat to live in? I remember you mentioning you were looking to move.

  29. I used to drive ten miles to get a dish of Saag Paneer and a box of Pakora. Thankfully, more Indians have migrated to my part of the world and I can just walk down a street and find them. What’s ironic is that I don’t eat them as much since they are so easy to get. There’s also a club titled Kalakendra, which I would see strictly classical music. I saw the big names like Ravi and Ali Akbar Khan, but some of my favorites were the ballets with the troupe of musicians and the ladies with bells around their ankles. I always wondered what wearing all those clothes felt like. Thanks for the insight. Maybe the itchiness created the need to dance? Lol. Take care Pooja

    1. I would absolutely drive that far for some pakora too. They’re literally so delicious. Especially when the weather gets cold or rainy. I guess we want what we can’t have. I used to crave East Asian food but now that there are more East Asian restaurants around I rarely have it. The itchiness is rare, most Indian clothes can be comfortable if they’re good quality. So yes, I think it was created by the need to dance lol. Thanks and take care too.

  30. I think you should have seized the present moment you had and gone and talked to your crush 😊.

    1. I should have but I think being rejected would be my final straw so I’d rather not know what would have happened lol.

  31. I didn’t know you were absent 😜

    I get notification
But I am not able to read the post on the same day 🥲

    Expecting some pics
    There better be some pics

Also expecting to see you get married with that guy next year. You have my wishes 😝

    1. Oh yeah, I’ve noticed you’re a bit offline these days too. Haha, no pictures unfortunately. If I ever marry that guy, that would be the best day ever. You would be invited, of course.

  32. Ah, Eckhart Tolle! This is a good one. I always appreciate the reminders to stay present in this live.

Anyway, thanks for the Billy Joel video! Brings back many memories. I’ve loved this song since it came out. And I really love Fall Out Boy’s update.

    https://youtu.be/2LkVKCWL0U4?si=1tvrP74J1zl3nbxi

    1. It is, I love this reminder because I’m one of those people that always thinks too much about the future.

Yes, I love their version of the song. I hope in a few decades another band/musician makes their own version of the song again.

  33. If you like something, you like it. If they don’t, they don’t. I got a promotion on my job. I am still in school and passing all of my classes. I am listening to Forrest Frank right now, look him up on YouTube. He has some great music and Ryan Stevenson. I hope you will check it out.

    1. That’s so great, I’m so glad you are doing so well with your classes and work. Will check both their music out, thanks for the recommendation.

      1. You are welcome.

  34. Geez Pooja. I thought you would have stepped up to the plate and at least… Published author, big time blogger, poet, writer, and good looking… He’s the one that should be intimidated. 😂 But I hear you, I get in my own head sometimes. It’s a nice happy safe space.
Loved the quote btw. My anxieties can take me over the edge. That quote is a good reminder to chill out.. 👏👏

    1. Lol, he’s literally a millionaire so I don’t know. I guess I still feel like that silly teen when I see him.
Thanks. I’m the same way, I think so much about the future and get anxious for no reason.

      1. You’re welcome. I hear you. Millionaires are people with anxieties too 😉 .. in just winding you up.
Good to see you back online again. WP was having one of the moments again

        1. Thanks and WP is always having a moment these days lol, hopefully the glitches will fix themselves 😅

  35. Love the quote and Billy Joel <3 !!!!!! Gorgeous guy needs to know you !!!! I laughed so hard at you "staring" … LOL 😉 !!! Out of your league (Absurd, pish-posh) !!! Maybe it's better to love from afar … The illusion might be better!

    1. Thank you! Lol technically he knows me but he doesn’t know me the way I would like 😅 Yes, I prefer to love from afar- that way I keep my delusions alive lol!

      1. Keep the dream alive and hit the snooze button (LOL) !!! What would happen if you told him, he might be the love of your life !!?

        1. Well, that’s one of the things that could happen…

  36. Life is all about stepping outside of the box and living carefree, well to a point. Anyway approach who you want when you feel it!

    1. Absolutely, take some steps out of your comfort zone at least!

  37. That quote is the universal truth……but as humans we forget yo enjoy the present, the now, instead we worry about multiple things of the future , of which on fact we may not survive to even see

    1. Yes, very much so.

  38. I love Eckhart Tolle! He’s amazing! I love this quote, too! And I’m glad the wedding was good! I missed you when you were not posting! Xoxo

  39. Love the moment!!

    1. That’s great!

  40. This is the truest quote w=you’ve ever published 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thank you, I really like this one too 😊
