Quote Of The Day

John Wooden Quote:

John Wooden Quote

What’s Up With Pooja?

For those of you wondering, my wrist is almost completely okay now. However, I ended up hurting my thumb on the same hand. And today I burnt my finger on the same hand while cooking. I feel like August is just not my month lol.

Since it’s August, most people are traveling. A lot of my cousins and family members are traveling at the moment. One of my cousin brothers that I usually hang out with (the one that takes great pictures for me) is out of country too. So, it’s going to be a bit of a more relaxed month.

And that’s not a bad thing, it gives me more time work on my debut novel that I am about 2/3rd done with. I really want to get it finished by the end of the year but I also don’t want to pressure myself too much. I’ll write when the mood strikes me and not force myself to write.

Oh, I had a very weird Uber driver experience last week which I will share in more detail later on this week.

  1. Poignant quote and reminder, Pooja <3 … so sorry about your hand and wrist. Take it easy (Star Star Star) 🙂 … this is probably when the writing mood will strike hard. There's an app for everything, but don't know if typing aids the writing process!? Have a great August if possible! 😉

    1. Thank you so much! I have been writing a lot recently 😉 Have a great week!

  2. I’m glad your hand is better, Pooja, but be careful! ❤️😊

    1. Thanks so much! ❤️

      1. You’re welcome Pooja.

  3. I like the quote. Though, interference can come from outside the self at times. Let’s see the last music I listened to was Carpathian Forest and Alvin Curran. Probably not your cup of tea. But you asked! I fell off my bike on Thursday, right in front of a car. It was stopped fortunately. But I pulled a muscle in my left leg. So I can empathize with you and your hand. Take care! Always great to hear from you!

    1. Thanks so much. Oh no, sorry to hear that. Hope your leg feels better soon!

  4. that quote..not so sure..but, I find with new runners, they have no idea what their capable of, and I think that relates to a lot of us…I think Terry Fox once said that I just wish that people would understand that anything is possible you just have to try

    1. That’s very true, I think sometimes out mindset really holds us back.

  5. Last week was crazy as I was working on my final project for a certificate program. This week- I’m trying to wrap up things at work as I’m traveling next week.

Congrats on the book! I look forward to reading it soon.

    1. Ooh I see, hope you enjoy your travels and are able to wrap things up at work. Thanks so much!

  6. You are a publishing queen! Sending you some healing prayers for the wrist and fingers, Hugs, C

    1. Thank you so much, really appreciated!

  7. That hand has been through a lot lately. I wish you all the best with your debut novel. I think it is a good quote. Reminds me a bit about “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”. Don’t let insecurity about what you lack prevent you from doing what you can with the skills you actually have.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s so true, sometimes we’re so afraid of messing up that we stop ourselves from even trying.

  8. Hey Pooj, my weekend was super nice, I watched a movie called Problemista, it’s a comedy and I absolutely loved it. It’s a new movie which came out in April, I missed it at the time. Last night I watched it thinking, this is art. Makes you laugh and cry all at once.

    1. So glad you had a great weekend. Problemista sounds great, I’ll definitely check it out.

      1. I hope you like like it as much as I did

        1. I think I will, I read the summary for the movie and it sounds really interesting.

  9. I loved the quote

    1. Thank you so much.

    1. It’s an interesting song, I think they put good work into the video and the anime inspiration turned out great. Megan is a big fan of Japanese culture which is what inspired it.

Thanks, my hand is a little better today and so are my fingers.

Glad you enjoyed the quote and have a great week!

        1. My pleasure and thanks!

  11. People are often put off by problems and then think that nothing good can be accomplished. This is a good reminder

    1. Yeah, that’s very true. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re most welcome 🙏🏼

  12. I always find that if you start with what you can do you find you can extend into what you can’t and that becomes what you can.

    1. Yup, that’s very true. Often, you just have to start.

  13. It took me some time to understand what the quote was trying to convey. I would reframe it as; do what you can and if your inability hinders you, find a teacher to show you the way.

You should look into getting a pair of Schmitz Mitz, lol. I hope your hand heals quickly.

A song I was listening to today was “Warning Labels” by Doug Stone.

This remined me of your stories; I was moving things to stage for my upcoming move and I noticed what I thought was a drop of red paint on my stairs. I have no red paint in my house, then realized it was blood. I had no nicks or cuts on me and I didn’t squish any bugs, so I never did figure out where the blood came from. I hope it does not end like one of your stories, lol.

    1. That’s a good way to reframe it. I really like how you phrased it.

At this point, I probably do need a pair of Schmitz Mitz with the way I’ve been hurting myself recently.

Oh my, that does sound like the start of one of my stories. But I’m sure you won’t have the crazy endings my characters do lol.

      1. I really hope not. So far so good.

  14. a quote to heed…great one, Pooja…
ouch to your August thus far…still wish the remaining to better for you .. 🤍

    1. Thanks so much. Since writing this I fell and sprained my ankle so no not a great August 😅

      1. (🥴)…I think we’ll have to erase August from your calendar, Pooja…😋
        take care please…🤍🤗

        1. Lol yes please, let August disappear fast 🤗💕

  15. Nice quote, and especially nice to consider as I get ready for work today. Thank you!

What’s going on with your hands?! There’s something to pay attention to about slowing down and caring for your hands which are writing so well. <3

    1. Thanks so much! It’s not even just my hands anymore, today I tripped and sprained my ankle. I don’t know what’s happening to me recently. Yeah, I think I definitely need to take better care- especially if I want to make it to next month in one piece lol.

      1. !! Your ankle now!! Oh no. Do you think you might be ‘in your head’ because you’re writing, so body may be a step behind. 🙂

        1. Hmm it could be, I tried meditating a little longer just to make sure my concentration isn’t the issue.

          1. Good idea. <3

  16. That’s a great quote. We should proud of ourselves for what we can do and not fret over things we can’t. I’m glad your hand is bettere, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much, I very much agree. We should do as much as we can and let go of what we can’t.

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja.

  17. John wooden is someone I read a lot about. I was a sports junkie back in the day, and when I read where he said that “failure is never fatal” it hit the spot while I was dealing with some crap injuries.
Glad you’re feeling better, and I’m pleased to know you’re pacing yourself with the next manuscript..I tend to do the same. Letting the story come to me rather than forcing it.
    Good luck, Pooja. 💜🙏

    1. I didn’t know much about him before but I read up on him before sharing this post and he seems very inspiring. “failure is never fatal” is a good thing to remember when times are tough.
Thanks so much, yeah I don’t want to force the writing. It’s best to let it come to us. All the best with your writing too 😊

      1. Thank you, Pooja. 🤗

        1. You’re very welcome 🤗

  18. I actually saw/heard John Wooden; he came to my school. I appreciate his quotation (above) about potential and determination. Good advice from a coach for players and everyone. I’m really sorry you’re in pain. Sorry you burned yourself–that becomes a frustrating kind of hang-on pain. I hope you have or get the function in your hand all right, so you can write. Frankly, I hope you’re not driving yourself too much; you did say August should be more relaxing. I’ll be a week out of the hospital tomorrow, and I’m (also) going to the doctor’s tomorrow. Since I’m not allowed to drive, I’ll have to try Uber. Hmm, based on your experience, how will that go? Please take care. Go slowly, as Buddhists say to each other.

    1. That’s really cool. Yeah, it’s great advice for players or just in general. Thanks, I ended up hurting my leg after this post got published. I slipped and sprained my ankle. I just want August to be over lol.
So sorry to hear that, I read the post about you losing consciousness and I’m glad to hear you’re being discharged. Hope you’re feeling better. Uber is almost always great but I’ve had the worst experiences last week. I think it’s because all the good drivers are on strike in Kenya right now. Take care of yourself too.

  19. I’ve never heard of John Wooden, but I like the quote. Focus on the can’s, not the cannot’s. Good advice. Your wrist and now your ankle? The Universe is telling you to take a break!?

    1. Yes, I think it’s great advice because we all have strengths and weaknesses. We need to focus on the strengths. And today I slipped and sprained my ankle. I think the Universe is yelling at me to take a break lol!

  20. That’s a great quote. I hope the rest of August is better for you.

    1. Thanks so much, I hope so too.

  21. Great quote! Prayers for quick recovery!

    1. Thank you so much!

  22. Love the quote…. why is it things come in 3’s .. let’s hope you’re done. Ok so does the movie have anything to do with your uber drive? Waiting to here???? As for me I’m just hoping Duke doesn’t have a kidney infection. It’s like walking on eggshells and cleaning up pee.. ugh.. 💕

    1. Thank you! I sprained my ankle today so yeah… not going great 😅 Oh no, let me know what happens with Duke, hopefully it’s nothing major/serious.
The Uber thing is unrelated but the craziest experience I’ve had 😭

      1. Oh good gravy maybe we better take you off the streets for a while lol you were probably at home though. trust me I hope so too.
Well, you definitely have our interest peaked. That’s for sure. Maybe you better start taking Lizzie with you from now on.

        1. Yup, just woke up and slipped lol. Thanks and yes maybe so!

  23. So true, sometimes we get so focused on the roadblocks me miss out on the opportunities.

    1. Exactly, we miss a lot of opportunities due to fear or focusing on our weaknesses.

  24. Yes, focus on your goals, not the impediments.
    I find I am more accident prone when I am tired . . .

    1. Yes, exactly! I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired or just a bit spacey these days. I need to concentrate better.

  25. So sorry for your mishaps! I hope you recover soon. Thank you so much for posting your review of “Ariel’s Song” on Amazon! I appreciate it very much. Take care.

    1. Thanks so much and happy to share the review on Amazon!

  26. Love the quote.

    1. Yeah, I really like this one too.

  27. This is like my favotie Henry Ford quote. “Whether you say you can, or you say you can’t. you’re right 🤣😎🙃

    1. Oh yes, I love that one too 👏🏽

  28. Why can’t you live life peacefully?

Do you find trouble or trouble find you?
    Always happens with you
    Always 🤦🏻‍♂️

    1. Trouble always finds me 😭
