Oscar Wilde Quote

Quote Of The Day

Oscar Wilde Quote:

Oscar Wilde Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

A lot. I’ve decided that this is the year I get my life together. I started taking my supplements as often as I should (admittedly I should have been doing that this whole time anyway) and I started working out! It’s actually been great. The first day was TOUGH. My body was like, why are you doing this to me?? My legs were like, we give up. But, I didn’t give up. I kept at it and have been working out all week. I started with a couple of minutes and am slowly increasing the amount of time. Today, I worked out for a little over twenty minutes. I was absolutely beat by the end of it but it also made me feel a lot better. Oh and I’m just doing the workouts at home, I don’t like going to the gym.

This week’s quote is a very well known one but I think we can all use the reminder sometimes. It’s not easy being yourself, especially these days when so many people seem to prefer to force everyone into uniformity. But I think being ourselves is the best thing to be. Back when I was trying to please everyone else, I was so incredibly unhappy. Now, I live for me and I truly feel so much better.

  1. Great quote I love Oscar Wilde. The Portrait of Dorian Gray and the Importance of Being Earnest are fantastic classics.

    1. Thanks so much. The Importance Of Being Earnest is one of my absolute favourites.

  2. Excellent. Love Oscar Wilde. An important message too that people often forget. And it’s so important to live for ourselves first too, before trying to make others happy. 🙏

What supplements are you taking, if you don’t mind me asking? I need to start a workout routine. Nice to hear it’s going well for you 😊 best of luck with it!

    1. Agreed, I feel like this is one of those quotes we think about a lot but need to hear often.

Thanks so much. I’m taking vitamin B12, D3 and a multi vitamin suggested by my doctor 😊

  3. Happy for you to be getting into a routine, and looking forward to hearing more about it along the way. Sounds like you’re in a very good place these days.

Also, good quote! I have a counter-productive money clip (Who uses a money clip these days? Not me!) with the Wilde quote “He who lives within his means suffers from a lack of imagination.” I love it though, so clever. Probably why it’s survived several rounds of donations.

    1. Thanks so much. Will definitely be sharing more about my workout.

Ooh that’s a great quote, I love that one too!

      1. So glad. I need the inspiration also just want to cheer you on. 🙂

  4. Hey Pooj, glad to hear you are working out.
It’s wonderful and rewarding. I love Oscar Wilde, the picture of Dorian Gray is my favorite. I need to reread it.
Last week was pretty cool, school started, we watched My Neighbor Totoro and I’m back to art making and knitting. Vacation is over.
The plan this week is to go swimming, I missed a few days and feel bad about it.

    1. Thanks so much. It really is nice, I feel much better now. Oh nice, enjoy swimming. It’s the one thing I never do but it’s such a good full body workout.

      1. It’s one of the best relaxing fitness gigs

    1. It really is.

  5. I’m starting to work out also! Its hard! But I have to do it, I need to get fit!

    1. Thanks so much and good luck with your workouts too!

  6. That Oscar Wilde quote is my very favorite quote ever, Pooja.
Good on you for starting to work out. But don’t forget to take a rest day occasionally too. 💖📚

    1. It’s such a great quote. Thanks, I try to only do major workouts twice a week and more chill ones the rest of the days which is working well for me 😊

  7. The quote is excellent, Pooja. It’s absolutely true. There is only one of us out there, so it might as well be ourselves. I’m glad that you are working out and taking care of yourself. Self-care is really important.

    1. It’s one of my favourite quotes. You’re absolutely right. Self-care is definitely vital.

  8. Great quote.

Exercise is great, there is a way the body feels different in a good way when you exercise.

This week I am listening to “Enough by Erias Dummer”.

    Last week was crazy busy.😅

    1. Thanks so much. True, I feel so much more energetic after starting my workouts. Hope you have a more chill week this week 😊

      1. That sounds great.

        The universe has heard that.😊

  9. I adore Oscar Wilde and this quote is so right on!! Good for in your life changes Pooja…I love your energy!!♥️

    1. Thanks so much, absolutely I love this quote too 😊

    1. That’s such a nice quote too. Aw, that’s nice that she’s so supportive.

      1. Thank You
        With SMiles☺️🙌

  11. What a quote. 👏👏 I’m pleased to know that you’ve started working out. Love the patient gradual approach. I try to get 30-40 mins everyday..helps to clear my mind. Even if it’s just a brisk walk before the sun is up. Haven’t been to the gym in months.
What have I been up to?… Prepping a new series of flash fiction for Halloween. I like writing scary stories. I hope they’d be enjoyed by everyone.
Keep up the routine Pooja G. Takes 21 days to break a habit, and 21 days to establish a new one. 👏👏👏

    1. It’s such a simple but excellent quote. 30-40 mins is so impressive. I usually do 20 mins for now but want to move up to 30 mins. Honestly, I feel like gyms aren’t always necessary for a good workout.
Oh nice, scary stories are my favourite 😊

      1. 20 mins of intensity is sufficient. But I love the determination to get 30. Gyms serve a purpose once you can get past the initial anxiety and realize that everyone is there for the same reason as you. But it isn’t necessary at all.
Happy you’re enjoying the process though. 👏👏

  12. Good for you for starting to work out. Of course, now comes the hard part, keeping it going 😀 I found that keeping it small helped me to do it every day. None of this 60min a day workouts, just 10-20 for me. I’m actually getting into yoga on video myself. My dr recommended that I start a regular stretching routine since my job is so physical. Our pastor’s wife is big into yoga so I asked her for some recommendations and I’ve finally checked out the youtube channels she recommended.

    1. Thanks so much. I think 10-20 mins is good too. You just have to get your body moving.
Yoga is so fantastic, I’ve been doing it for years now and never looked back. You’ll feel your entire body change once you get into it.

  13. I’m glad that you’re being proactive Pooja. Working out brings a sense of wellbeing.

    1. Thanks so much, I think so too. I feel much better mentally and physically.

      1. All the best my dear friend

  14. Congrats on starting the exercise! It is super important. Consistency is the most important thing. One day at a time.

    1. Thanks so much! Agreed, consistency is so vital and also pushing yourself to be better.

  15. Insightful quote. I would rather be myself than anyone else.

    1. Absolutely, I think it’s best to just be your authentic self.

  16. I love Wilde’s quotes and this is one of my favorites. It makes sense, as most of this quotes do.

    1. Absolutely, it’s such a simple truth and yet it’s sometimes so hard for us to stay true to ourselves.

      1. When I was younger, I always wanted to be someone else. Now that I am older, I am okay with who I am.

        1. Same here, especially as a teenager I really hated myself. But now I’m pretty comfortable with myself.

  17. put on townshends empty glass. the cut? keep on working. work! yw

    1. Work work work work!

      1. why was i born ? my life is an empty glass. deep shit from pete.

      2. pete played lead so loud, he went deaf. so in later years he had others to collaborate with such as david gilmour of pink floyd fame. a good video is give blood from 1984 s white city. gilmour!

  18. 🌞 Awesome quote Pooja! I am preparing for my multi-city trip across Canada and hope the Air Canada Pilots strike don’t interfere with my plans… I am waiting to see what happens by Friday… lol

    1. Oh wow, have a great time and hope the strike isn’t an issue for your travels! 😊

      1. I am crossing my fingers and toes it doesn’t.. I have faith. For some reason, I don’t think it will come to that. I will see what Friday brings.

Hope all is good there Pooja and your workouts are helping you! ☀️

        1. It is, thanks! ☺️

  19. I’m glad that you’re not being yourself*: you’re doing a healthy exercise regimen, and being careful about your necessary nutrients. Generally in the past I thought I heard that your alter-ego can be capricious and moody which is OK with me, and wild temper tantrums (hyperbole) are the norm for the generation of creativity and intrigue. But I have become puzzled by the quote after having overheard someone muttering to himself after reading the post: “Well, this is odd, and I’ll have to study it for my journals. I’m a serial killer and I’m trying to reenact a childhood trauma by creative metaphor. I can undo what happened. Revenge is my purpose in life. My prison therapist says that I should NOT be myself. So for the purposes of parole I told her OK: I will not be myself anymore. And she said, ‘no, no, no. Be yourself as you were born to be before the abuse.’ So I said of course I love Oscar Wilde and I will be myself, and it was great strategy for the parole board hearing.”
I’ve heard since that he was being himself after release. But since he’s learned a lot about philosophy, nothing can be proven about the cluster of murders in the area.

    1. Well, we’ll just change the quote to “be yourself unless you’re a serial killer.”

  20. Congratulations on a week of work outs and for following your inner guidance vs. trying to please everyone else! ✨ 👍🏻

    1. Thanks so much, it’s hard to follow our inner guidance but it’s worth it 😊

      1. You’re welcome and yes, it can be – so much of life and expectations work against listening to that guidance, but worth it, yes! ✨

  21. I’m sure you have such thoughts every year

    Jk 😝

    Congratulations on working out

    What are you doing?
A health blogger would like to know? 🧐

    Stay safe
    Go slow
    Take care

    1. Haha it happens a few times a year 😅
Thanks so much. I’m just doing some at home Zumba and short workouts 😊

      1. Also go for yoga and resistance training. Important for muscles.

        1. I already do yoga but will keep resistance training in mind. I appreciate the advice 😊

  22. This is one of favorite quotes ever. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Same here, it’s a fantastic quote 😊

  23. Love the quote, very clever! Good luck with the workout!

    1. Thanks so much!

  24. That is a great quote. Interestingly, I think it can take a lifetime to figure out what it really means.

Carl Jung said it this way:
“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you really are.”

    1. It really is and that’s interesting too. I think it’s also because we change so much so who we are changes a lot.

  25. The Wilde quotation’s good. He paid a price for aiming to be himself. We might not have to do more than make a choice and then slowly (without cost so much) changing the world around us and we are. I’m glad you’re working out, since that should be really good for your health. I’m dealing with thudding neighbors (through the ceiling, walls). Maybe not as bad as monkeys on the back porch. (Maybe.) I’m trying to listen to cool jazz in the car. I hope your week continues really well. And, if I may say, keep living forward.

    1. Yes, he did but he taught us an important lesson. Truly, being ourselves can change the world around us too.
Thanks so much. Sorry to hear that, I have super loud neighbours so I can relate. Hopefully, they keep it down this week. Have a great one.

  26. all the best with your working out, Pooja…

a great quote that brings to mind…
being one’s self for yourself gets difficult at times… why and how would we manage a try to that someone else …🥴😬
    yet some still do…🤍

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, it’s not easy being yourself but imo it’s the only way to be happy 😊

      1. so true …and my pleasure 🤍🌷

  27. I thought you subscribed and Quit?

    1. I took a break but have been blogging again for quite a while.

  28. I find that a good bout of physical exercise relieves stress and gets the brain aerated. Sets you up. I built up to a good two plus session in the gym every day! Did me the power of good (a bit OTT).
Oscar is great! He never believed in exercise though. He claimed that he got enough exercise carrying the coffins of his friends who exercised.

    1. Yes, it absolutely does! Haha he may have had a point.

  29. I’ve always liked that quote, Pooja. It’s a good one. Be well and happy, Sweetie.

    1. Thanks so much, be well too.

  30. Very interesting quote !!

    1. Thanks so much!

  31. I have this quote on one of my blog pages. It is always good to be yourself, why would we want to be someone else? Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. That’s great and yes always be yourself. Thanks and have a great week too.

  32. That’s a great quote and it’s good advice. That said, sometimes I’ll meet people and think that maybe they should try being someone else. Lol.

    1. Lol, that’s totally fair I think we all bump into people like that once in a while.

  33. Great quote, but I like the meme that says always be yourself unless you can be batman, lol.

    1. Thanks so much, lol that meme is accurate.

  34. I am a huge believer in being yourself. Yes, when I was younger I tried to please certain people but I also believed for the most part, that if you don’t like me, it’s your loss. I know that I’m a good person and that should be good enough.

    1. That’s great. I think the older we get the more comfortable we are with being ourselves. True, you just do your best and if people don’t like you that’s their problem.

  35. Indeed. Be you, the world will adjust.

    1. Yes, exactly. Thank you.

  36. The force into uniformity is sad.
Nice one Pooj. I hope you keep it up.
I hope I can join you in the discipline…I’m on my way

    1. It is so sad. People are unique and we need to accept that. Thanks so much, wishing you luck with it. Starting is always the hardest.

  37. GREAT QUOTE 💯

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  38. It’s a smart quotation, but Oscar Wilde didn’t say it.

    1. Oh I see. Do you know who the quote is from?

        1. I’ll check it out, thanks.
