It’s Been One Week Since You Looked At Me

It’s been one week since you looked at me… Do you guys remember that song? By Barenaked Ladies. It was really popular back when I was growing up. I didn’t realise how toxic it was till I read the lyrics lol.

Anyway, this post isn’t about BNL. As much as I would love to write about them. The lyrics just came to my head when I began writing this post.

So, it’s been one week since you looked at me (not really) and it’s been two entire months since I published my first book, All The Words I Kept Inside. It honestly feels like it was just yesterday that I was writing this book and now it’s out here in the world.

Not only is that book out in the world, I’m almost done with my second book too. Literally only a few thousand more words left. It’s such an incredible feeling. Writing is genuinely one of the few things that bring me pure joy (food is the #1 thing lol). And I have to say, the only reason I’m able to do what I love is because of you guys. If it wasn’t for all the support everyone on WP has shown me, I would probably have not been able to successfully publish any book let alone this one.

And I also want to thank everyone that has gone out of their way to support my book. To everyone that read and/or reviewed it. I am truly eternally grateful. Thank you!

    I’ve not heard that song in decades. It was 1998 when that song came out, and I agree the lyrics is strange. I never understood it and they are singing it so fast making that it is hard to follow. Congratulations on your second book coming along so well.

      Yeah, it became popular again for a brief time in the 2010’s but I haven’t heard it recently. The lyrics are hard to understand since they are sung so fast but when I read them I was taken aback by how toxic they are. Thanks so much.

          I totally understand, that’s why I couldn’t write when I was in uni 😭
          It’s hard especially when it’s your first book but you got this. Try to make time when you can and have small goals like write 500 words a day. It’ll get you to bigger goals.

        You’re welcome! I know of some self-published authors who put together an audiobook using “voice reader” or technology like it. That might not work as well for poetry, though.

        I am still surrounded by boxes. I decided to up the difficulty and paint and clean each room before I unpack. Winter weather is approaching soon, so trying to get outside stuff done before it freezes. Thankfully, it has been much warmer for this time of year than normal. Mark me down as a fan for global warming, lol. Also found some garter snakes by the foundation, so I have to investigate to see if they have made their way inside. I tested my relatively new furnace yesterday and it works, so that is a bonus too.
