What’s Up With Pooj?

As some of you may have noticed (probably not because I’m not very active on most socials these days) I have decided to delete my X (Twitter) account. When I heard they were going to use our content to train AI, that was the last straw for me. I know some are okay with that and that’s honestly their personal choice but I am not. I’m not okay with someone using my content to train AI so that it can replace me in a few decades (more likely years). And if they are planning on using my content to train AI, they need to be at least be paying me for it.

Other than that, I would just like to add that I typed all this out with press on nails (talk about big feat) and took out my contact lenses last night with my knuckles in one motion like a freaking pro. It has nothing to do with anything, I’m just weirdly proud of myself for it. I mean, how many can say they took out their contacts with their middle knuckles completely effortlessly?

    Excellent quote, Pooj, I have always felt this way until I moved to the country that convinced me to keep my thoughts to myself most of the time lol
    Last week I worked a five day assignment which was pretty awesome, this week I’m celebrating Thanksgiving by taking some time off. Oh, and I joined all those cool people taking ashwagandha daily, it’s the latest greatest here.
    Everything is decorated for Christmas although it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. So, you can imagine all the Christmas decorations in the rainy climate of Oregon. I took out my winter coat and already put it on once or twice.

      Yeah, I think it’s different for every culture. Here it’s normal to be more forthright while when I was living in Canada I had to censor myself a lot.
      Oh nice, enjoy your time off. I take Ashwagandha too but only once a week. Remember to take it with warm water because it’s not as effective otherwise.
      Oh yes, it must be getting colder now and everyone is preparing for Christmas. It’ll be so much more once Thanksgiving ends.

        Canada sounds like a nice place, I have never been.

    I like the quote. We can’t be concerned about everyone’s opinion. I deleted my X account when Elon started mistreating his employees, so that was a while ago. I received an email for this post. However, I’ve noticed that not all notification emails go out. My wife is subscribing to both my blogs and sometimes she gets the email and sometimes not.

      Thanks so much. Absolutely, we shouldn’t give other peoples opinions such a priority in our life.
      Yes, I heard about that too and apparently he has fired a number of them wrongfully since he took over. I stopped using Twitter when he first bought it but hadn’t bothered deleting my account till now.
      Hmm that’s odd, I do know their email system is glitchy so not surprised though.

    Yeah, I don’t have an X account. But AI is just starting out, so I’m expecting a lot of interesting things to occur with it “maturing”. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Bluesky. You might check it out. But personally, I think you should produce a Youtube video teaching people how to remove their contacts with their knuckles. Lol. Good luck to you!

      Oh yes, it’s going to be very interesting to see how it grows. I joined Bluesky a while ago and am loving it. I already made friends with other writers and got invited to submit to a magazine. I’m very happy there. I have a YouTube channel so I think it’s time to share a tutorial on my contact removal techniques lol.

    I have mixed feelings about the quote. These days you have to be aware of your audience and your platform or you could be banned out of existence. (Then again maybe you go through some kind of social portal and end up in an alternate universe, lol)
    I got locked out of one of my social media accounts so I have had more time to get things done around the house.
    We had our first good snowfall of the season this week and the temps have gone down quite a bit.
    My hot water heater quit working so had to get new one and had a good excuse for now showering and save some water :).
    I did some painting in my living room so on my way to having some space to finish unpacking my boxes. Maybe Santa won’t have to unpack for me after all.

      That’s so true, we have to be so careful with what we say these days. Although sometimes I see people say the darnest things and their page gets thousands and sometimes millions of followers so it also depends on your luck.

      It’s crazy how much time we spend on social media. It’s only when we don’t use it that we realise.

      Oh no, that sucks but lol yeah you have a good excuse to not shower for a little bit lol.

      Lucky you, I’m definitely going to need Santa and all the elves to help me unpack or it’s never going to happen lol.

      Absolutely, we should be ourselves- not everyone will like us but that’s okay. Their loss. Oh good, glad you got the email!

      It’s actually really easy to do everything with nails once you get used to it. The first time is difficult but it gets really easy eventually. Putting in your contacts is easy, taking them out was what was scaring me but using the knuckle method worked out better than I thought it would. Give it a try if you ever get your nails done!

    If you haven’t yet sent a letter to the AI vendors to exclude your blog from their training, they’re training it on all your WordPress posts already. I haven’t bothered because I feel like they’re going to get it through a loophole anyway (mirror sites or something).

      Glad you enjoyed the quote and thanks for letting me know. Yes, think about it before making a decision. You can make some changes in your settings to stop AI from using it but apparently there are loopholes when it comes to the settings so some of your content will be used to train AI regardless.

      So glad you enjoyed the quote. I agree, it’s absolutely exploitation. If they want to use our content they need to be compensating us heavily considering how much money they will make with AI.       Yes, please do if you haven’t already. There are some settings to stop AI on X but they have a lot of loopholes so AI would still be partially using your content. There’s no way to opt out completely which I find so shady.

    Lol.. really entertaining post. I haven’t used my Twitter in ages. But I may have to delete my account.
    This week I’ve been working non-stop, so I’ve been listening to Metallica.
    Been reading or listening to a new book on conflicts in South America by Chomsky.
    And I’m trying to stay on top of my writing, even if it’s just 100-150.words a day.
    Health wise, . I’ve started distance running again… Painful 😂

    I did get the e-mail regarding this post. I’m impressed with what your fingers and hands can accomplish. I’ve wondered how working with pressed nails goes, though I think you are exceptional in that. And about contacts and knuckles, that sounds like fine work with something un-fine (not to offend your knuckles). It might be interesting to have a last name that means blessed. I like the Baruch quotation, though I do better sharing what I think over what I feel. Something to work on. Not listening to much. Classical music during the day, jazz at night–but that’s what the radio station plays that I listen to in the car. Oh, Twitter. You probably did something really healthy. Every few days, I get an ad from X encouraging me to pay for the privilege. Not likely.

      I’m glad you got the email. Thankfully, most people seem to have except ironically the person whose blog it is lol. I’m fine with working with press-ons but the contacts were the scariest for me because these have a sharp top. Like the almond shaped ones. I was terrified I would poke myself in the eye but thankfully my knuckles came through.
      Oh yes, Baruch is a lovely last name. Hmm yeah, sometimes it’s harder to communicate what you feel so we refrain from it. I can be that way too.
      Oh yes, Twitter is constantly trying to get people to upgrade which can be annoying. IG has been doing that too and it’s pissing me off.

    The guy who owns X is in it not to provide a service but to enrich himself at the expense of all who use that social media platform, but other social media platforms also use AI and often give you the opt out in such fine print that only those who are extremely diligent will find that option.

      Absolutely, all he cares about is his own gains. Yes, most platforms have integrated AI now but I’m glad they at least have an option to opt out no matter how fine the print. For X, it’s pretty much impossible to opt out even when you change the settings.

      Yes, it feels so good to leave that toxic platform- you’re smart to leave sooner. Thank you, as they say necessity is the mother of invention. Now I know using my knuckles is the best way to take out contacts even in general.

    I’m not okay with AI using my content either; and I resent that WP makes you opt out of sharing, rather than asking you opt in, and the opt-out is a little buried. i deleted Twitter mostly because it became a cesspool.

    Today I listened to the new album by The Cure. I kept hearing good things, and while i’m not a huge fan of theirs, I did like it.

      Glad you liked the quote. Yes, I find that so unethical for WP to make us opt out rather than opt in. I mean, they probably got our content before most people were able to opt out. Oh definitely, Twitter is so hateful and toxic now.

      I used to love The Cure as a teenager but haven’t listened to them in years. Glad their music is still good and they’re still putting albums out there.

    That’s a great quote, Pooja, and I was never on Twitter, but I would’ve done the same thing. I’m not a fan of AI. I’ve been listening to a new group called Tops. They’re a Canadian Indie Rock band. My husband and I went out for lunch last weekend and they were on Spotify in the restaurant. So I asked the waiter who they were, and that’s how we learned about them. 🙂 Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so we’re getting ready. Loved the story about your knuckles! 🥰

        Does opting out have any effect on SEO? It seems like it would, because if they’re not sharing your content with the AI systems they would also not be sharing it with the search engines. Or am I totally wrong on that?

          Oh no, it doesn’t have any effect on SEO at all. What you’re mainly opting out of is sharing your content with AI to teach/train AI. Your content will still be visible to Search Engine crawl bots so it will still show up on search results.

              Yeah, the search engine crawl bots don’t process the content the same way. They just check how SEO friendly and reader friendly it is and if it will be the right fit for the search engine. The AI crawl bots read and learn from the content and then use that to answer questions when asked.
