My Thoughts On Celebrating Poetry By Cindy Georgakas

Celebrating Poetry By Cindy Georgakas

I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret here, I helped Cindy a tiny bit when she was putting together the manuscript. Which means I saw first hand just how hard she has worked for this book. Which is why I could not be more happy about her success. The book has been #1 on multiple categories on Amazon already and I could not be more happy for her.

My Review Of Celebrating Poetry By Cindy Georgakas

Celebrating Poetry By Cindy Georgakas is a companion for her first book Re-Create & Celebrate. Which might I add, has over forty five star reviews. The first thing that caught my eye about Celebrating Poetry is that I can feel what the writer is feeling from the very first poem. There is an array of poems in the book, some are more lively and uplifting. While others are more raw and speak difficult truths to the reader. Her poems encourage the reader to not only think about Cindy’s words but use them to reflect on our own lives. The more uplifting poems encourage growth and embracing change both negative and positive. While the more darker themed poems remind us that although there are always bumps on the road, that shouldn’t stop us from moving ahead on our journey.

Specifics

The language Cindy Georgakas has used in Celebrating Poetry makes it so easy for the reader to connect with her words, to even see themselves in the poems she shares. The experiences she talks about are so universal that they act as a bridge between her and us. There are many poems where I was nodding along because I could so deeply relate.

How Will You Know I Love You is one such poem, in fact this may be my favourite poem in the collection. The reason I connected so much with this particular poem is because she expresses what thoughts I (and I am sure many others) have had about true love. She explores the different types of love and love languages there are as well as how gestures both big and small sometimes can be just as meaningful.

Most of us want a special connection with others but it’s not always easy to create it. Especially, if you’re an awkward writer that spends most of the day whining on her blog. In the end, we all want someone who looks at our crazy and loves us regardless of it. Someone that thinks we’re passionate not bonkers. Someone that loves us exactly as we are. And that I think sums up the vibe of the book. Even just one poem made me think so much about the intricacies of love.

Part By Part Breakdown

The first part of the book, Trusting Your Path encourages us to do just that- trust our path. As Cindy mentions in the book, there are times when we know exactly where we’re going and what our next step is. And there are also times where we feel totally lost. But in the end, the lesson we learn from this part of the book is to keep moving ahead and trust that we are on the right path. Enjoy the ups and downs and live life to its fullest.

The second part, From Darkness To Light reminds us of the importance of balance. I found this section the book to be a little heavier because we explore more negative feelings such as pain, anger and grief. But through her poems, we are also inspired to process those negative feelings and then let them go. Not hold on to them and internalise it all.

The third part, Ignite Insight inspires us to explore our “aha moments.” Cindy emphasises the importance of daily introspection and what I like to call “taking out the trash.” We absorb so much from everything around us and not all of it is good. We have to have a look inside our mind every day and get rid of what we don’t need so that we can focus on the positive. This is when we begin to think about ourselves and everything around us at a much higher level.

The fourth and final part of the book is Celebrate. The poems in this part are a much needed prompt for us, the readers, that every moment is a gift. Whether it’s good or bad, we should be appreciative. The good helps us make memories and the bad teaches us lifelong lessons. We need to celebrate each moment because life is so incredibly fleeting and we only experience the present once.

Final Thoughts

Celebrating Poetry by Cindy Georgakas is one of the best poetry books I have read. Overall, it’s beautifully written and as always Cindy has done an outstanding job expressing herself through poetry. I loved that it was easy to read and follow but also incredibly poignant at the same time. And I think it does go really well with Re-Create & Celebrate because this too shares so many lessons and gems. I love that she added a page where you can write down your reflections after every part.

Both fans of poetry and those not particularly interested in poetry should get this book. It’s not pretentious, it’s not going zap your energy reading it, it’s not going to put you to sleep. It is going to make you think, make your feel and most importantly it’s going to help you grow as a human being.

You can find both Ebook and Paperback versions of Celebrating Poetry by Cindy Georgakas here.

You can also find Ebook and Paperback version of Re-Create & Celebrate here. I encourage you to read this book first if you haven’t already. The poetry book is so much better when you have read this book first.

Check out Cindy’s blog here.

Just a reminder, it’s really hard for indie authors and publishers out there because they don’t have as much of a budget for marketing. So, if you can please do get Cindy’s book in both versions and share a review. And with the holidays coming up, I think this could be such a perfect gift for someone you love.

  10. As far as I can tell, I didn’t receive an email notification for this post. If it went to spam, there’s a 50% chance I cleared my spam folder before I looked but I’m fairly sure I didn’t because there are emails in there from yesterday. 😒

    1. Nevermind, I found the page where everything was paused. Crazy there’s like 3 different places to manage notifications and they’re not related to each other! I had all email notifications paused and just turned them on again. I guess we’ll see next time you post, haha.

      1. I just love how WP has made everything a million times more difficult to do. The other day it redirected me to Jetpack and I just couldn’t leave for some reason and felt like I was lost down a rabbit hole lol. I got the notification for this post so hopefully it was a one time glitch but do let me know because my email stats are still down so I feel like some people are still not receiving it.

  13. Wow! Pooja, this is a fabulous, detailed and thoughtful review! I know Cindy and some of her poetry from her blog but her work seems to reach a new level with this collection. I love how you’ve separated your review into three sections, this is inspired and gives such a wonderful feel for the book. Your final thoughts of ‘Celebrating Poetry’ as ‘it’s going to help you grow as a human being.’ is the highest of recommendation! As you say, a perfect gift and one I’m purchasing for a poet friend and I’ll enjoy reading it too.
