Martin Luther King Jr. Quote #2

Quote Of The Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Quote:

Martin Luther King Jr. Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

You guys may not be aware of this but the last few weeks have been some of the most stressful I’ve ever experienced in my life. With work, family stuff and health stuff it’s just been so overwhelming. However, through meditation I think I’ve been able to handle it well. Still, I was feeling a little down in the dumps but then something happened that really lifted my spirits.

As many of you know, I’ve been working on my manuscript. No one had read it so far except my best friend because she’s the only one I trust to always be honest with me. But a while ago I was browsing through Reddit (yes I have a secret Reddit account pls ignore it if you ever find it lol) and came across a post with resources for writers. And through that, I discovered Cherry Pit Publishing. I was skeptic at first since the prices were much more affordable compared to others I had seen. But they were legit. So, I hired them for beta reading. And thankfully, I got such great feedback.

And the best part? She told me it would take her like a week (which is very normal for beta reading) but she ended up getting back to me with her feedback in just a few hours! She said she loved the manuscript so much she couldn’t put it down. As a writer, that’s the biggest compliment you can get. She was the first person other than my bestie so to hear that made my month!

She didn’t ask me to share her services on here, she didn’t even know about this blog back then. But I wanted to because I had such a good experience. I know a lot of you are writers and could use some of the services since they are affordable and high quality. If you’re interested, you can find them here.

  1. Good to hear you. Yes I agree. Often say that I disagree when Bob Dylan said “Don’t hate nothing except hatred”.
A lot of the world is fighting fire with fire right now

    1. So true, an eye for an eye is not the way to go.

  2. The quote is inspiring. Take care of yourself, Pooja. Do what you need for yourself. Everything else will fall in line.

    1. Thank you so much, I appreciate you saying that.

  3. Thank you for taking a moment to honor the memory of MLK Jr. today, Pooja.

I think I can see the value of nonviolent protest, but I’m not sure if what worked back in the 1960s will work today for so many reasons. I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I want to be able to defend myself if it comes to that.

I think people forget about why things worked back then, including the nonviolence. The movement was highly organized. I feel like we live in an age where marginalized people are highly atomized and isolated in a lot of cases. We really have to work together to take care of each other in these difficult times.

Okay, I’ll get off my soap box, now. I live in the U.S., so I’m experiencing a lot of complicated feelings. I’m glad that the writing of your second book is going well. I hope publication–when the time comes– goes as well for you as the first time.

    1. As someone that studied history and specifically the civil rights movement/60’s & 70’s I definitely get what you mean. I think people back then preferred non-violent protests because it kept them safer (still killed or hurt lots of people though but would have been more). It’s important to stand up for yourself when need be.
However, when I look at this quote I think it reminds me that even when we are treated cruelly it’s best to not forget our humanity. Be kind, loving and caring- towards those that deserve it of course.

  4. The quote is spot on, Pooja! Get better. ❤️😊

    1. One of my favourite quotes. Thanks! ☺️❤️

      1. 🤙🏻☺️☺️❤️❤️

  5. the day Trump starts taking away people’s rights, Martin Luther Day….kind of ironic. It’s going to be 4 years of darkness, expect women’s marches, BLM marches, and we’ll have a replay of Kent State at some point, Trump will support Putin in Ukraine, and Trump will make all Taco Bells national monuments.

    1. Yes, it’s been an interesting day…

  6. That’s great to hear! Congratulations

  7. Good job reaching out for help! I’m proud of you Pooja, I need to learn how to do it myself.
Wonderful quote by MLK, let it be light! There is enough darkness as it is, I would like to think that this week was good but the next one will be better. I’m planning on trying oils out, I bought all the art supplies for it years ago, so let it be light and delight in oil painting process 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, I love this quote because it reminds us to rise above. I hope you have a great week ahead and good luck trying out oil paints.

        1. You’re very welcome!

  8. Another profound yet simple MLK quote!

    1. He has so many fantastic ones!

  9. The quote is one of the best quotes I’ve ever read. Totally agree.

    1. Same here, one of my absolute favourites.

  10. Sending you some positive vibes ! Glad your week is settling down some ✨

    1. Thanks, much appreciated!

  11. That sounds great, about your manuscript. About the quote. I believe it is true. However, sometimes you have to defend yourself, even violently, but it won’t drive out hate. But choose love, kindness and forgiveness when the option exist.

    1. Thanks so much. And I so agree. I think we should spread love and kindness when we can but we should also defend ourselves when we need to.

  12. The quote is uplifting, Pooja!
This is the time when you might receive a negative feedback despite trying to help others…or you’ll be ignored.
The truth is we can’t go much ahead with hate, jealousy and greed. We have to find a way towards the basic humanity, love & appreciation.

Compares to the unexpected and EXTRA violent scenes in the popular movie culture, people in the real life are comparatively good & helpful.

You’ll always hear good & bad news. So let’s avoid seeing the society & our surroundings negatively.
The last breath I would be taking, it would be for hope, love and life. The role of negative elements is comparatively less.
There’s always a fight going on between the good & the bad inside you. And your real life actions are reason based!

    Best wishes! 🍀🍀
    Stay healthy and happy!
    Thanks for sharing!😁

    1. Yes, one of my favourite quotes!

I agree, we will never get far with negativity. Those that use hate and division may win some battles but will always lose the war.

Best wishes to you as well 😊

  13. a profound quote shared, Pooja …

and great to hear that you received such positive and uplifting feedback on your book…

I’m glad you found a good service for beta reading. Congratulations on such positive feedback.

    1. I wish that too, people need to learn to be kinder to one another. Thanks so much 😊

      1. They do but it seems they are headed in the wrong direction

  20. Excellent quote, Pooja. I tried Reddit for about a month, but the environment there is so toxic that you can’t engage in meaningful discussions sometimes. I closed my account at the end of that month.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, Reddit can be extremely toxic. I only read writing related posts that help me with stuff like this. Other than that, I completely avoid the discussions.

      1. You’re welcome, and I also read the occasional post that comes up in my Google searches. A lot of people have some good content there.

        1. Yeah, I think the thing is that a lot of people have really helpful info while others are just there to be hateful.

          1. You are right about that.

  21. The quote is a good one. I have found some useful info on Reddit from time to time via a google search, but I find it can quickly become another time sucking rabbit hole which seems to attract some nasty negative comments sometimes if the moderators do not limit them.
Thanks for tip and sharing the link. That is so exciting to hear about your book.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, Reddit can be useful but in general I try to avoid it. I mostly use it for writing related stuff. I’m excited too, it’s been the only thing keeping me sane.

So sorry to hear about what you’re going through. Everything will be fine.

    1. Thanks so much, I hope so.

      1. You’re welcome sweetheart.

  24. As Trump takes office on a wave of hate and division with a war on half his own people I reckon that’s a great quote to have. The world is insane and this wave of right-wing nastiness is very sad.

    1. Yes, I think MLK Jr’s words need to be remembered.

  25. That is GREAT that you found that publisher. I hope it continues to work out.

    1. Thank you, much appreciated 😄

  26. Yep, meditation has been a life saver for me when the going gets tough, too. It’s a keeper. And so happy to hear of your new collaboration with Cherry Pit Publishing – I’ll take a look; you never know when it could come in handy. Thanks for the share.

I was so happy to find them, their feedback was so helpful with my manuscript.
      Is it still snowing there?

      1. The second winter storm is supposed to bring snow sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. The snow from the previous storm melted.
I can’t believe it is snowing in New Orleans, Louisana! This historic storm is unprecedented in states that far south.

        1. Ooh I see. Wow that’s really interesting, this winter has brought snow to so many places that doesn’t usually have snow.

      I am, thanks.

  31. A lovely quote by MLK. I’m glad you found some Beta readers and you’re so right about the buzz such feedback gives us. Good luck on the writing journey this year, Pooja. 😊
And please look after your health. 🥰

    1. One of my favourite quotes 😊
Thanks so much, yes it felt so good to hear she enjoyed it 💕

  32. I think we too often fail to contemplate what these quotes mean. We just hear them on one the left ear, and then they directly pass through the next… the consequences happening in the world now are a result of lacking humility, patience, and love for one another. It’s great to hear about the lower price manuscript readers.. I hope you’re doing great all the best with your new book..

    1. That is so incredibly true. We forget these words when we need to remember them the most. I agree, the world needs more love and kindness.
      Thanks so much.

  33. Inspiring quote that we all need whenever we feel that the world is going to end soon because of dictators strategies.

Inspiring quote that we all need whenever we feel that the world is going to end soon because of dictators strategies.
I also have a profile on Reddit because I always look for interesting and unique perspectives of different people. Some comments are controversial but people also post about their real experiences giving authentic feedback on all things social and political.

Mark Twain said, “Truth is stranger than fiction, but it’s because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn’t”.

    1. Yes, I think when life feels dark it’s important to remember these words.
That quote is also so true, I love Mark Twain. He was so brilliant.

    1. Glad you agree, I do too!

  34. Love the MLK quote, Pooja. I have to agree that hate has not been the catalyst to bring us closer.

So awesome about your manuscript feedback. Sounds like a great service.

Love that you are handling your stress with meditation. It works for me too! Sending warm thoughts.

    1. Exactly, only love can bring people together.

It was a wonderful experience and I was really happy to receive such positive feedback.

      Thanks!

  35. Best quote ever! Also thanks for the tip On Cherry Pit 🤣😎🙃

    1. Happy to share!

  36. One of my favorite MLK quotes. And thanks for the link to Cherry Pit! Hoping you feel better.

    1. Happy to share it. One of my favourite MLK quotes, I think we need more people to remember it.
      I’m better, thanks.

  37. Wonderful to learn of your manuscript progress. 👏🏻 Thank you for sharing! Meditation is most helpful, especially during the stressful times. Good of you to stick with it! 🧘🏻‍♀️

    1. Thank you! Yes, it is meditation helps me so much when I’m stressed. It’s so calming 😊

  38. This man was such an inspiration to us all

    1. He truly was.

  39. Great quote and timely with it having been Martin Luther King Jr Day. An inspirational figure in a world often devoid of them. There’s an exceptional play fictionalizing the last evening of his life, called ‘The Mountaintop.’ We saw it last year and it was unbelievably good.

Excellent news about the publishing and review of your manuscript, Pooja! That’s exciting!

This week I’ve been listening to a lot of Peter Gabriel – his newest record,’ ‘i/o’ from 2023 and ‘Us’ from 1992. Really great stuff.

    1. Yes, he was a very such an inspiring person. I hadn’t heard of “The Mountaintop” before but glad to hear it was so good.

      Thanks so much!

Oh I see, hope you’re enjoying his songs.

      1. My pleasure!

  40. I am so happy for your manuscript progress and to get positive feedback. Well done.

    1. Thanks so much, it really made me feel better.

  41. That’s a great quote and congratulations!

    1. Thanks so much!

  42. Happy you found the right person at the right time, and it sounds like it was a kismet meeting for her as well. That’s the best thing ever! <3

Well, next to meditation. I'm absolutely leaning into meditation these days, always abundantly available if I just slightly adjust my view toward openness.

    1. Yes, it was which was so cool! It’s like the universe pushed us in the right direction.

Same here, meditation is such a game changer.

  43. Great quotes, Congratulations to ya girlie!

    1. Thanks so much!

      1. You’re welcome!

  44. I love the quote and now you have me even more excited and I can’t wait for your novel to come out.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m so excited for you and my other blogging friends to read it. Hopefully, by the end of the year.

      1. That would be awesome.
