Let Go (From All The Words I Kept Inside)

Let Go From All The Words I Kept Inside By P. J. Gudka

What’s Up With Me?

I almost always share quotes by other people but today I thought why not share something I wrote myself. I mean, I am very wise. Okay, somewhat wise. Fine, wise adjacent… Okay, the truth is I say a lot of very dumb things but once in a blue moon I’ll say something wise. And since so much of what I say is on the Internet I would much rather distract everyone with the wise stuff lest they remember the many, many dumb things I have written over the years.

In other news, not much has been going on with me recently. I’m just trying to focus on the positive. Which reminds me, I started singing! I never used to sing before because I was really self conscious but I’ve been doing it a lot recently and it feels so good. My mind just gets so energised and especially when I’m feeling down it really lifts me up.

If you enjoyed this poem, you can find more like it in my poetry collection, All The Words I Kept Inside, which is available on Amazon.

  1. Ice burns. Love burns, Life burns.
    We need a Burns night!!

  2. Girl, is the universe telling me something? Love love the quote! 🌷

    1. Yesss, this is your sign to let go 💕

  3. This was beautiful! Have you posted a video of yourself singing yet? Like yesterday’s faiding soft mountain glow descending on the blue horizon, letting go is easy, yet even so, can be so hard sometimes.. And then, sometimes, what we let go of can sometimes not even go that far, or may unexpectedly return, like a butterfly, in the sky…

    1. Thank you! I haven’t posted myself singing because I didn’t really think anyone would be interested lol. Maybe at some point I will though. I’m not a great singer but I have a lot of fun with it.
So well said, I think that’s very true.

  4. Letting go and moving on is very wise advice my friend. Kudos on singing.

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You’re very welcome

  5. You know, I like your poetry because it looks so sparse, yet packs a powerful punch. Way to go, Pooj.

    1. Thank you, hopefully my next book will pack a few punches too haha.

  6. I listened to that song. I have to say, I didn’t understand about 3/4 of what she was rambling on about with her 2 word association thing.
One phrase that stood out, because it was a coherent whole sentence, was that anxiety felt like an elephant sitting on her chest, crushing her.
What is a way to support someone who has anxiety? Is it something to talk about with them? Pretend it doesn’t exist? Dig? What would you suggest?

    1. I think talking to them is usually the best route, go in with an open mind and ready to listen more than speak because a lot of time people may just need someone to lean on rather than get advice from. Try bringing it up and if they seem open to talking about it then go ahead and if they don’t, I would just give them some space but let them know you’re there if they ever need to talk.

      1. Thanks a lot Pooja. That is good to know.

        1. No problem at all.

    1. It really does feel amazing to stop holding it all in and express ourselves openly. Glad you found outlets that work for you as well.

      1. Thanks!☺️🙌

        1. You’re very welcome 😊

    2. And happy blogiversary! 12 years is amazing.

      1. Very Much
        Appreciated☺️🙌

  8. That’s a great poem, Pooja. I hope you are well and happy.

    1. Thank you and I’m doing much better. Hope you’re well too.

  9. I love Doechii, and that’s a great song to be listening to this week!

    1. Same, she’s so talented and did you see her at Fashion Week? She looked stunning 🤩

      1. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

  10. Singing is a great way to release pressure. So is dancing for me, I love both. Ice and fire are great metaphors, well done Pooj

    1. It is, I always feel so light and happy after. Dancing can be great too. Thanks so much.

      1. It’s my pleasure

  11. I sing in the car by myself to the songs from my high school and college days. It’s such a release and puts me in a good mood. Keep on singing.

    1. That’s so nice, it really does instantly shift your mood and brings so much positivity into your day.

      1. It sure does!

  12. I think that is a good quote you came up with. Ice can burn, and dry ice even more, not to mention liquid or frozen nitrogen. I dipped my hand into liquid nitrogen once and you don’t want hold your hand in that for many seconds. Then of course, putting your tongue on a frozen metal pole, as I did as a kid, is another bad freeze experience. It took less than a second to get stuck. Luckily my mom came out with warm water to unstuck my tongue. Don’t hold onto things that hurt of any kind. We are going on a ski trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, soon.

    1. Oh yes, ice can be just as painful. I stuck my tongue too lol, that may be a universal experience. It doesn’t snow here or even get that cold but I was curious so I froze a spoon and then touched it with my tongue and it was stuck for a bit.
Wow, enjoy your ski trip. That sounds so fun. I’ve never been skiing and I don’t know if I ever will because it sounds a little scary but I know a lot of people enjoy it.

  13. Singing is a great release, I have been singing for several years now in local bars on Karaoke nights it’s so much fun. There is a song I really like by Gabrielle Aplin called Letting you go its a beautiful song, I will try and post a link to the YouTube version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV2fgHGTwiY

    1. Yeah, it’s so much fun and gets those endorphins flowing. That’s an amazing song and she has such a beautiful voice. The lyrics are very touching.

  14. Excellent quote! Also love your way of describing your “wise-ness” lol 😆

    1. Thank you, glad you enjoyed that lol 😂

  15. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  16. I’m thrilled to know that you are finding your Voice! If it compels you, it’s meant for you.

    1. Thank you and I think so too, whatever makes us feel good is meant for us!

  18. I love the poem. It is very serendipitous reminder for me today. I have been putting off working on some songs and avoiding it by buying lots of music toys that I tell myself I have to learn now, lol. Are we going hear you singing in the near future?

    1. Thanks so much. I think this is your sign to start working on those songs. Hmm maybe I’ll share a little snippet of me singing, I’m not that good at it but it’s still fun to do.

      1. You may be right. I saw a similar message on Instagram today too, lol. Do you have any original songs? Maybe you could set one of your poems to music.

        1. The universe is really telling you it’s time.

I definitely don’t have any original songs, unfortunately I don’t think I have that sort of talent when it comes to music. I wouldn’t even know where to start even if it’s just using a poem and setting it to music.

          1. Sometimes the sounds of the syllables of the words will suggest a rhythm. The vowels become the melody with the consonants providing the phrasing. It may be easier to explain with a video, lol.

            1. I think I get what you mean but I still don’t think I’m musically talented enough to get away with making my own music lol.

  19. Love the way you wrote this, and of course your ‘quote’! Ever since I read your book, there’s a distinct mood I sense when I think about it. It’s decidedly different from most of your blog writing, which I also love. Kinda fascinating. 🙂

    1. Thank you! Wow, I really appreciate you saying that. As a writer, it’s so moving when someone tells you your words impacted them. Definitely different from my blog writing vibe, with the book I felt like people saw a lot of me that I don’t share on the blog.

      1. Yes, very much so. The difference between waving from across the street vs. spending days together, much more direct.

        1. Yeah, I think that’s the perfect way to discuss it.

  20. stuff older than ye

  21. Wonderfully written reminder, Pooja! 💞💞💞 Singing is good for your heart, lungs, and spirit! Keep singing 💞

    1. Thank you! Yes, singing is wonderful for our heart and spirit maybe not so much for my neighbours though lol 😂

      1. 😂🎶🎶🎶

  22. Singing is like writing and a great way to release emotions. Many need to let go and move on. Sometimes, it takes a while to know when.

    1. Definitely, it helps us release emotions as well as all that pent up negativity. True, I think it often takes a while but then when we know it’s so clear.

  23. Before I read this post today, Last night, I saw the title on my notifications, and I thought to myself paraphrasing, “Wait a minute, didn’t I just read this from her poetry book recently?” And, sure enough I opened it up and remembered it. That one in particular is one that I’ve really enjoyed too! When I read it the first time, It reminded me of a poem that I wrote privately recently that dealt with that Fire and Ice theme. It’s really good!

And also, I’m very glad to hear you’ve decided to start singing! The universe needs to hear even more of your voice. 💖😁

    1. Haha I can imagine it was like déjà vu. Thank you so much and so cool that you wrote something similarly themed!

Aw thanks so much, I wouldn’t say I’m very good at it but it’s honestly just such a freeing thing to do 😊

      1. I know right! Haha! I always love it when all of us get on a similar frequency at times when we write stuff. It really is so freaking cool!

I guess you could say that you don’t have to be good at singing as long as it gives you that freeing ability to you know, “Let Go” right? Get it! Get it! 😏 Yeah…. that was totally cringe. 😬😂

        1. It’s definitely very cool! Aw that was sweet haha thanks ☺️

          1. Of course! You’re very welcome! It’s always a pleasure! ☺️

  24. Your saying of dumb things is personality and your writing shows your wisdom 😌

    1. Thanks, that’s such a cool way to look at it haha 😁

  25. I love this! Not only are the words very wise but it takes a lot to recognize that we ourselves are quotable. Beautiful, Pooja!

    1. Thanks so much!

  26. Love, love, love this Pooja. I learned that the hard way this weekend.. I will be sharing this.. 💓💓

    1. Aw thank you! Sorry to hear that but yeah sometimes you just gotta let go 🤷🏻‍♀️

      1. Absolutely!!!
        💓

  27. Good of you to share your own quote; it’s a strong one, Pooja! Have fun singing. Sing loud and proud! 😊

    1. Aw thanks so much! 😊

  28. Hi Pooja!

I just want to say ‘hi’.
Because last month felt like a decade in itself.
I was slowly losing interest in reading blogs. I lacked required energy and will.

    I’m better now.

    1) I got a new tablet from my college recently. I realise it’ll make blogging easier for me. Also now I can draw on a bigger screen.

    2) I qualified the exam I attempted in Jan. I got the result in Feb.
Next I will be attending another exam in June (100-110 days from now) for the permanent job of Assistant Professor.

These two events influence me positively.
Like getting rewarded for studying is good. Studying more about your subject builds your command & expertise over the subject.

Still the journey is longer. Patience is required other than self-determination (+ self trust).
I feel happy to read from you once more. 😁

Your voice is much louder, echoing throughout the blogosphere here.

    1. Let go of the past you and have faith & trust in the present you.
Doing mistakes are allowed until you learn from them.

It’s the courage to continue that counts.💪🏼🔥🌄

      1. Absolutely, mistakes help us learn and grow. Thanks ☺️

    2. Hi! It’s nice to see you back here. That’s wonderful, I’m happy for you about both. Hope you do very well in your next exam too.

  29. You’re very welcome to share your own quotes! Especially since you’re published!

    1. Thank you, it feels nice to share something of my own for a change!

  30. Letting go has Bern my approach to this year so far. As Mel Robbins says, let them, and let me.
Singing is good for the soul.. sing like no ones watching and enjoy life, PoojaG

    1. I think that’s best, let things go as they do and don’t hold on to things that aren’t meant for you. Thanks so much 😊

      1. You’re welcome ☺️

  31. Beautiful quote 💟

    1. Thank you ☺️

  32. Smiled at wise adjacent. I feel that way at times.

    1. Haha I think we all feel that way at times. And sometimes we’re right, there’s so much we don’t know.

  33. Fear is crippling. Sing out loud and strong, sweet Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much, singing has really helped make me feel better.

  34. Love your quote (and your book), Pooja, and keep singing! 🎶💕

    1. Thank you so much! ☺️💕

  35. I think you are wise. It’s great to hear that you’re singing. I love to sing … makes me feel joyful. I am going to buy your book when I get back to the States.🤗

    1. Thank you so much, singing brings so much positivity. Aw thanks, so appreciate that 🤗

  36. This is such a beautiful quote! And it’s so nice you’ve started singing!! ☺️✨️💗

    1. Aw, thanks so much! 😊💕

  37. I find listening to music while singing along the lyrics so healing. I think music’s vibration does something good to both the body, mind, and soul.
The quote is really on point, and I think you’re wise.

    1. Yes, music brings in so much positivity. Whether it’s listening or singing along or learning a new instrument. Thanks so much.
