Quote Of The Day

Alice Walker Quote:

Alice Walker Quote

What’s Up With Me?

I came across this Alice Walker quote quite randomly and decided to share it because it’s something I believe so strongly. I think people often don’t realise just how much power they have and underestimate themselves or let others make them feel inferior. No matter how hard life gets, we must remember how strong and resilient we are.

When I read the name Alice Walker, I was like that name sounds so familiar I’m sure I’ve read a book by her. So I Googled her and I was right, I have read a book by her- The Color Purple. It’s quite well known so I’m sure most of you are familiar with it. It’s one of those books that stays with you.

For anyone wondering, I’m feeling a lot better now. I had the flu last week and some symptoms linger on like feeling exhausted and a stuffy nose but for the most part I’m getting better. I had the most insane experience of being sick this time which I’ll share on a different post but it’s been an amusing few days. Hope you guys are all doing well!

What I’m Listening To This Week:

  1. Number one on the call sheet…

  2. Definitely a good quote. It’s about what you know and how you feel about you. Growing up I had to have a tough skin, but so mentally prep myself to know what everyone is saying I can and can’t do is untrue, I just needed time and experience to prove it and act accordingly.

    1. So true. I think a lot of us had that experience. Not everyone can see our vision especially when we’re more ambitious than they are but that shouldn’t stop us.

  3. I’m glad that you are feeling much better, Pooja! ❤️ It took me too many years to understand just how strong and resilient I can actually be. 😎

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you eventually learned how strong you are, not everyone is that lucky ❤️

      1. 🤙🏻😎

  4. hi……not much a weekend to talk about…..

  5. Great quote, so true

    1. Thanks, glad you liked it.

  6. Yes, that’s why we are now in this situation here in the US. Many didn’t vote because they thought there was no power in their vote.

    1. Unfortunately, so many people underestimate how much power they have to make a difference in the world.

  7. That is a profound thought Pooja

    1. Yes, that’s how I felt about the quote too.

  8. That is a great quote from a most talented writer. Thank you for sharing, Pooja. Glad to read you’re feeling better. Keep resting! 💝

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah, I really loved the quote when I read it too- it holds so much truth 💗

  9. Quote is definitely true ☺️

    1. Absolutely, I felt that way too 😊

  10. Glad you’re feeling better 🙏 I like that quote 😊 we should always remember our power 💕

    1. Thanks so much and I so agree, we are so powerful in our own way and we need to remember that 💗

    1. That’s wonderful and I think the best way to raise kids, it’s best not to pressure them too much and let them find their own happiness and path. And sorry to hear about your dad but it looks like you found your way regardless and are doing well now 😊

  12. I totally agree. We can’t forget how strong and resilient we are. Beautiful message, Pooja. So glad you are feeling better!

    1. Thank you and yes absolutely, we are so incredibly strong but we need to remind ourselves of it at times!

  13. 🙏🌹🙌🏻

    Aum Shanti

  14. This is a great quote. I have been busy making channels in ice to keep water out of my garage. I will be glad when the spring melt is done.

    1. Oh geez, that’s no fun but hopefully it’ll be over with soon. At least for this year.

  15. Once you internalize that quote, you just suddenly feel a little bit stronger, realizing that more than you know is in your control. Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

    1. That is so true, it’s a reminder to your mind and body of how much strength you really possess. Thank you!

  16. This quote is very true, especially for the people who think they are weak.
I hope you get better soon.

    1. Yes, I think it’s such a great reminder of how much strength we really have. Thanks so much.

      1. Very true my friend 💚

  17. Love that Alice Walker quote and quite agree and am glad you’re feeling better!

    1. Thank you and glad you enjoyed the quote!

  18. Keep getting better! Love the quote! Love Alice Walker’s poetry!

    1. Thanks so much! I haven’t read her poetry but I have no doubt it’s as brilliant as her other writing.

  19. That is a great quote and I agree. I am glad you are feeling better, Pooja. We’ve been busy with spring cleaning, and filing our taxes, and my poor hubby has a bad cold.

    1. Thanks so much. Oh no, sorry to hear that and hope he gets better soon.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  20. That quote is so true! We just gotta believe and keep on pushing through! 💪

    1. Yes, exactly!

  21. You are welcome!

  22. No matter how difficult life is, we must remember that we are no less than anyone.

    1. Yes, that’s absolutely right.

  23. The power we have is a blessing and a curse. Sometimes you say something casually and they take your words as a prophetic gift to them
What the hell? Really people, it was not the intention, no, not today. Maybe tomorrow…

These days I’m reading “Darling Days”, a memoir by io tillett wright, what an eye opening book. Hard to digest still worth your time. Such a heart breaking story, triggers so many memories…

    1. That’s so true, it’s a double edged sword.

Interesting, I’ve heard of Darling Days but haven’t read it. Sounds really powerful.

      1. Can be a bit hard but still good

  24. We waste of our energy in thinking.
We also tell ourselves – as a responsible person – that how bad, and a looser, we are at something

    1. I so agree, we’re so harsh on ourselves sometimes.

  25. That quote is spot on. I’m sorry you were sick, Pooja. It seems the whole world has been passing around one bug or other. Love to you.

    1. Thanks so much, it does seem like that. Everyone seems to be sick right now. Hope you’re doing well though.

  26. Glad you’re doing so much better so quickly! <3 The quote is perfect.

    1. Thank you so much!

  27. Great quote and oh so true! We often give away our power, not realizing we have it.

This week? I’m listening to a wide variety of stuff, mostly music played online by freeform DJs. It’s a busy week with taxes and volunteer work to do. Last week was good, though it was cold… finally seems like spring is coming. Be well!

    1. Thanks so much and yes so true.

Oh wow, very interesting. Have a great week with the warmer weather and hope you get some time to go biking even though you’re busy.

      1. You’re welcome, and thanks very much… it was sunny and got up to 11C today, downright balmy!

        1. That’s lovely weather for spring!

  28. Love the quote, author, book, and movie! Glad you are feeling better and can’t wait for the post … Slammed my fingers in a window this morning, got the AC fixed, looking for new places and jobs, and trying not to be an absolute spaz “everything”, ya know a regular Tuesday (lol)! Take Care, Stay Calm and Keep Writing ~ <3

    1. I haven’t seen the movie because I feel like it’ll be too much for me to handle but I’ve heard it’s fantastic.
Omg ow, hope your fingers are okay and that the job hunt goes well!

      1. I saw it way too young, but it is worth every second! If you feel it would have too hard an impact on you, then definitely wait on it. I still get chills … I remember a movie called The Perfect Storm (not nearly as “painful” as The Color Purple) and I didn’t want to see it because I knew it was a true story and that it would devastate me. Overrode my instincts and it was miserable and depressed me for months (lol).

Cursed so loud when I smashed my nubs … back to the never-ending hunt! Hope you have a happy day ~ You deserve some fun!!! 😀

        1. I read it way too young as well and it really hit harder because of that which is why I’m hesitant to watch the movie. Maybe when I’m feeling stronger I’ll watch it.

I can imagine, it’s so painful when we hurt our fingers or toes! Thank you and you as well!!

  29. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better. Flu is no fun. The Alice Walker quotation is well-chosen, even if was randomly found. In the world, we are bamboozled all the time regarding having power. From relatively idle ploys regarding “must-see” shows or “must-have” items to more aggressive tacks toward how to vote or what to think about regarding what’s important and what not to think about at all. We do have power, and we give it up way too easily.

    1. Thanks so much and yup flu is awful but this time has been different.
I so agree, we’re often told we have much less power than we actually have or people constantly try to manipulate us and take advantage of that power.

  30. Love the quote and it’s so very true! Great book and loved the movie! Sooo glad you’re feeling better!!! hmmmm waiting to hear how it hit you! 💗
Too many white lies alight and fake friends.. I don’t need those..
    🙌🏽

    1. Thanks so much! I haven’t seen the movie just because I feel like it would be too intense for me but the book is so amazing!
True, real friends are worth so much more! 💕

      1. You’re so welcome!! Often we’re disappointed after the book too! Yes, few and far between! 💕

  31. Glad you are feeling better, Pooja…and thank you. I really, really needed this quote this morning. My self-esteem took a major hit yesterday and I’ve been all up in my head because of comments made by someone I am close to. Thank you for the uplift and reminder. 💞

    1. Thanks so much. I’m so sorry to hear that you experienced that and glad the quote came when you needed it. I hope you know that you’re amazing even if others say otherwise or try to bring you down 💗

      1. Thank you, 💞 Pooja 💞, I appreciate you! 🥰

        1. You’re very welcome, appreciate you too! 💕

  32. Fantastic quote! Once again, perception (belief) is everything. Glad you’re feeling better!

    1. Thank you and yes absolutely!

  33. I saw the movie before I read the book in a lit class. Both weer very moving experiences.
The Alice Walker quote is spot on. We surrender so much when we devalue ourselves.

    1. Yes, I’ve heard the movie was very well made so it was probably very emotional to watch.
I so agree about the quote, often we don’t realise just how strong we are.

      1. Yeah.. take it in small doses. How’s your manuscript coming along, PoojaG?

        1. It’s almost done which is exciting. How is your writing going?

          1. Not too shabby. New projects are at mid-point, and future ones atill.is discussions and research. I feel productive at least lol.
            Happy you’re making strides. ☺️

            1. That’s great, I’m glad you’re moving ahead too and feeling productive 😊

              1. Thanks Pooja. Keep me posted. Ready to be on the hype wagon whenever you’re ready. Perhaps something you could start sharing on your podcast too. 😉

                1. Will do, hope to start sharing podcast episodes again soon 😊

                  1. Great.. I look forward to it
