Sunshine Blogger Award #28

Sunshine Blogger Award

It’s been a long time since I got nominated for this award. I remember back in the day when it was a norm and most bloggers shared awards/award answers. It was quite fun and then it just stopped all of a sudden. But I’m glad it’s making a comeback (maybe?). I want to thank Stephenie from Singing-Gecko for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. She may be a mindreader because I was panicking about what to post today and then I saw her amazing post nominating me and was like this is perfect. Please do check out her lovely blog and give her a follow if you haven’t already, you can find her blog here.

Rules For The Sunshine Blogger Award:

  • Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Provide a link to your nominator’s blog.
  • Answer your nominators’ questions.
  • Nominate up to 11 bloggers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

Questions

Do you have a favorite artist, and/or is there a specific work of art you love?

I’ll go with Andy Samberg because he’s someone I have consistently admired. I think B99 is my favourite thing he’s done.

What’s your favorite, or “death row” meal?

I love food so much it hurts to pick just one meal but I would have to go with khichdi. It’s the ultimate Indian comfort meal. A close second is Kimchi Stew.

What was the last book you loved and would recommend?

The last really great book I read was Clutter Begone By Franci Eugenia Hoffman and would of course recommend it. You can read my full review of the book here. And you can find the book here.

When you’re falling asleep at night, is there an image or thought you imagine?

Yes, it’s the only way I can get my mind to stop overworking and let me sleep in peace lol. I often daydream about the future or a happy memory and that calms me down.

Who is the first person you look to for guidance, and why them?

My best friend, DentMistry because she’s the wisest person I know.

If your life were a movie, what would the audience be screaming at the screen telling you to do right now?

“Girl, go to bed it’s 2am!”

Is there a mythological or historical figure you relate to, and/or draw upon for certain qualities? (ex. bravery, love, kindness, wisdom)

I studied history so there are quite a few figures I admire. But for now I’ll say Marcus Aurelius because I’m rereading his meditations right now and he is so incredibly wise. I truly hope I can be introspective enough one day to be as in tune with myself and nature as he is.

Is there something specific you hope to be remembered for?

Yes, I would love to be remembered for my writing. That’s really all I want.

What is the quality you admire the most in the person you dislike the most?

Their persistence, I’m someone who gives up easy when things aren’t perfect so I admire people that are persistence and don’t give up easily.

What’s something you miss about your childhood home?

There was this beautiful tree we used to play near. It’s been cut down for years now. It was cut down when I was still living there.

Have you ever changed your mind about something very significant, which affected the way you approach your life and/or the world and others?

Yes, this has definitely happened for quite a while but more than ever this year. I have really changed my way of thinking recently and due to that have been able to set a lot of boundaries as well as finally put myself first instead of always sacrificing my happiness for others.

    1. Thanks so much.

  2. Thank you for nominating me, Pooja, I’m flattered.

    1. Happy to do so, I’m excited to read your answers if you decide to post them.

  3. I’m surprised that the awards is still going after these many years, congrats!

    1. Me too lol

      1. I’ve never nominated anyone. 🤭

        1. I remember doing 10 Sunshine Blogger Awards many years ago. I did them whether I was nominated or not (they were fun to do). I definitely wasn’t expecting to see one in my reader and yet, here we are. Pooja never ceases to surprise us.

          1. Wow, 10!! I was nominated once which is fine. I’d rather focus on life and photography. ☺️

    2. Yes, I was surprised too! I’m glad it was fun to participate in after all these years.

  4. You’re keeping the Sunshing Blogger Award alive! ☀️ I haven’t seen it in my Reader for YEARS. I did like 10 of these SBA’s until I completely stopped, but I remember how much fun they used to be.

That’s cool that you’re into Marcus Aurelius. Although I don’t read his works, I find philosophy really fascinating. He’s one of the greats. 🙌

    1. I’ve been seeing it suddenly start back up and even saw a few posts before I got nominated for this one. It was so fun to do after so long. I remember back in 2018/2019/2020 there were so many awards going around.

Thanks so much, he really is one of the greats and I would so recommend his writing 😊

      1. That’s awesome to see you bringing this trend back! And yes, I really need to look into his works. Philosophy is so interesting and fun to learn about. 🙂

        1. Yesss Philosophy is so interesting, I loved taking some Phil classes in Uni.

  5. Congrats on the sunshine award. Loke Hilary Tan said, i havent seen this award in years. Do enjoy it, its well deserved.

    1. I wasn’t nominated for this particular one, but I probably won’t be doing any more of them. They are all archived on my blog though. I think I stopped when the questions started repeating themselves. 😅

      1. I did a couple back in the day, and stopped afterwards for similar reasons.

    2. Thanks so much. Yes, they seemed to suddenly disappear but I guess they’re making a comeback because I’ve seen multiple bloggers I follow share award posts.

  6. Wow! I’m so freaking honored that you’ve nominated me for this Pooj! 🥰 Might I add as well that your questions are REALLY fantastic! 😁👍

    1. Happy to nominate you and excited to read your answers when you share them! If you decide to of course, no pressure 😊

  7. Congratulations and great answers, Pooja.

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You’re very welcome.

  8. Ohh Congratulations Pooja; you deserve many blogger awards…and are one of my favorites too:):)

    1. Aw thanks so much! 😊

  9. It was interesting and fun to read your answers. The fact that you admire Marcus Aurelius is quite intriguing. I have to find out more about him. It is also great to have a wise friend like you do. And congratulations to the Sunshine Award.

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, I admire Marcus Aurelius very much especially because he was able to stay really positive despite having so many personal and health issues. I’m certainly very grateful for my wise friend, she’s wonderful.

    1. Yes, reminded me of those good old blogging days too. Back then these awards were everywhere. So true, most people have moved on to social media now which is a bit sad because they are really missing out.

      1. Hey Well
        We are Still here☺️🙌

        1. So true, I’m so happy so many people have stuck around, it’s what makes blogging fun 😊

  11. Great interview, and thanks for the nomination, Pooja! My answers to your questions might make a great intermission post, since Book One of The Shadowdancer will end after my next post. Perfect timing! 🙂 Love that you are re-reading Marcus Aurelius! ❤️

    1. Thank you and you’re most welcome! I’m very excited to read your answers ❤️

  12. Congrats to Pooja and all those nominated! 😎👏

    1. Thank you so much! 😊

  13. 🙏🌹👍

    Aum Shanti

  14. Gosh. I’ve forgotten all about awards! There used to be hundreds of them.

    1. Yesss it’s been so long!

  15. ““Girl, go to bed it’s 2am!””

    Hahahaha, so true!

Tags and awards have really taken a hit in blogging, that’s for sure. I think part of it is that the influx of new people isn’t there and so most of us have already partaken of Award/Tag X. It takes fresh blood 😉 Plus, as others have noted, once the questions start to repeat themselves, we don’t participate again. I went and looked and the last time I did a SBA was in ’19, right before covid hit big.

So I think I’m going to nominate myself and I’ll answer your questions sometime in April.

    1. Yup, for sure. There so many new bloggers coming in at that time which made tags/awards more popular but things have definitely slowed down a bit so I guess that’s why they’re seen much less often now. Oh awesome, I’ll add your name to the list and am excited to read your answers 😁

      1. It looks like it will happen in May sometime…

        1. No worries, take your time.

So delighted you decided to participate, and wow, what a wonderful photo of you and your best friend! How fortunate the two of you are, Pooja. And of course, I immediately googled Gujarati Khichdi, which looks delicious!

Andy Samberg is hilarious! I started watching B911 a few weeks ago and haven’t gotten back to it, but he keep attention.

Your ‘persistence’ answer is so good. I so wish some of the people I don’t admire had way less of that! 🙂 I mean, some of these super wealthy and nefarious figures should just kick back and enjoy a cocktail on the beach. 🙂

    1. no one should quote yoko ono. bleech!

    2. Thank you again, this was so fun to participate in after such a long time! Khichdi is so good, I think you would love it if you ever tried it. And it’s a one pot meal so easy to make too!

B99 is so good, I’m sure you’ll love it even more as you watch more of it. Andy Samberg is just one of those people you can’t help but love. He’s so funny, unapologetically himself and so cute lol!

Haha that’s exactly who I meant in that answer. Regardless of all else, we have to admit they are certainly persistent with their goal 😅

  17. I participated in the awards in my early blogging days. I enjoyed participating but after a while, it became overwhelming.

I enjoyed your answers, Pooja, and love your photo with your best friend! Thank you so much for the shout-out.

    1. Yeah, they were so common back then and very fun at first but then it starts feeling like a chore and the questions get too repetitive. I think that’s one of the reasons they eventually died down.

Thank you so much and you’re most welcome!

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja!

  18. Congratulations! It’s always good to see (hear/read) you recognized. Your replies are concise yet substantial. From Marcus Aurelius to the tree that was for play, you show admirable qualities of curiosity. Thank you for the nomination!

    1. Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the answers. You’re most welcome, I’m excited to read your answers if you decide to participate.

  29. Thank you so much for the nomination!! Was such a lovely surprise, appreciate it 💗. It’s such a nice idea to dream of the future or nice memories when you can’t sleep, I will have to do that! ✨️ The “girl, go to bed it’s 2am” made me laugh! I can relate, the other night I pulled an all nighter (until 5am) and regretted it dearly but I just felt so productive doing night owl stuff! (Blogging and reading 🤣) You will definitely be remembered for your writing! 🙌 it’s brilliant you’re putting yourself first, I think thats very admirable. I love the questions you’ve shared and can’t wait to do this! It really would be nice if award tags made more of a comeback as they were so fun to do so thank you for the opportunity 😊✨️💗

    1. Thank you so much! 😊 Yeah, it really helps calm the mind to think about relaxing stuff like that. It’s the only thing that puts me to sleep these days lol. Urgh I have the same problem! 1. I completely understand and I think you’re deserving of it.

  34. […] Pooja recently did an SBA and when I went looking, the last time I had done one was back in ’19, so it seemed like it was time to participate again. Give me something to write about besides a book review anyway 😀 Plus, sunshine, amiright? […]
