What’s Up With Pooj?

Did you know that there’s a font called Stoic? Probably. But it’s brand new information to me. I was creating this quote on Canva and I randomly came across it. Guess which font I used for this quote, lol.

I came across this quote as I was reading Meditations and it’s one that really stuck with me. It may be my favourite Marcus Aurelius quote actually. As you guys know, I’ve always struggled with being a people pleaser. I always wanted people to like me and would do whatever I could to keep the peace. However, I am slowly learning to change and focus on myself instead. And this quote is a fantastic reminder that what others think of you really isn’t your problem. They aren’t perfect either, no one is, so why waste our time judging one another. Or trying to get praised by people who are just as imperfect as we are. Just do your best and that’s enough.

In other news, I’ve been having the weirdest dreams lately. It’s been… interesting but also annoying lol.

    Hi Pooj, the quote is interesting. Last week I started a new job and have to say that I cared much for their praise or a lack of it. It was a good week, very educational. I’m listening to Mummiy Troll, a Russian rock band, it’s such a blast from the past. They were super popular in early 2000s. Check them out, you might actually like their stuff.
    This week is going to be worky, I like it, makes your days go faster even though there is no rush, we will all get there eventually LoL

    Oh Marcus! I wanna just tell him like, yo my man, that quote is so fucking badass bro! Lol! Like for real! He’s so on point Lol! And I absolutely could not agree more with you here! I’m guilty as charged myself with wasting all of my precious time on perceptions that I can’t or shouldn’t desire to even want to control in the first place. It’s their opinion, they’ll have it regardless of what I think anyway. Just let em have it. Like you said, everyone else is just as imperfect as we are. It’s all equal footing around here. And now I’ll stop here before I write another paragraph rambling on and on! LOL! 😂

    Certainly hollows praise, the quotation. We’re not good enough, and we’ve decided that you are. An impossible situation since it requires that heroes be perfect and that we excuse ourselves from trying (due to our lack of perfection). A great quotation to think on. The font is pleasant and reads well. I’ve been having strange dreams, too. I awake then fall asleep again, and I think that’s where the odder, certainly livelier dreams happen. I hope your week is off to a pleasant start.

      Yes, that’s so true. Having studied history, I realised that no one is perfect. Those people we look up to as being great and idolise have their flaws too. I have the same thing, I have weird dreams and then I wake up. Mine is because of the supplements I take but I have no choice but to take them. Thank you and hoping the same for your week.

    I have the strangest dreams sometimes too. I think it happens more often after I watch intense stuff before bed, but who knows for sure. I believe I’ve seen and used the stoic font before, yet it’s good to be reminded it exists. Thanks friend 🙂

    Meditations is one of my favourite books although I haven’t read it for awhile. It has a way of unravelling at different levels and always seems to have the advice I need when I reach for it.

    Any leader has to contend with false praise to try and manipulate favors or destructive criticism behind their back, so they have to cultivate a thick skin and not be diverted from pressing ahead with what needs to be done. I think the author hit the nail on the head in observing those involved in this dysfunctional behavior too often don’t have the moral standards they demand from their leaders. Though its equally true some leaders don’t have those standards either.

    I had to read the quote a few times to get the meaning of it. It makes more sense than how I interpreted it at first. I finally got one house project that I was working on completed and only a dozen or so more to go, lol. Not really, but it feels that way some days.

    I had a dream about Marcus Aurelius where he praised me. And I said that he was a Roman Emperor who abused and tortured many people as emperors do. So I said why would I want your praise? He said because the lions in the arena will eat you.

    I rarely remember my dreams. I tend to sleep deep and if I do remember anything, it’s just bits and pieces and even those fade away from memory after about 10min from waking up.

      It could be. It’s also because of the B6 supplements I take every 3 months because I have a deficiency. For whatever reason they tend to mess up my sleep cycle although I’ve never had these sort of vivid dreams before.

    this quote reflects what I’ve learned over the past few years of constant people-pleasing.
    I used to hide myself and try to be the ‘perfect’ version of me in everyone’s eyes. but I never got noticed. at the end of the day, I was still the quietest, loneliest girl in the classroom.

    then one day, I stopped hiding. I got comfortable with who I am. and that’s when I met amazing friends—who liked me for me. I learned I could actually be funny. before that, I genuinely thought I was the most boring person on earth.

    so yeah… it’s true. why bother? their image of you is their problem. if they don’t like you, that’s on them.

    you know, I even tried to hang out with people I didn’t even like—and tried so hard to be accepted. but now? I don’t need anyone’s validation. I like me, and that’s enough.

      I was the same way especially when I was younger. I tried so hard to fit in even with people I didn’t like. But of course that just makes us miserable. It’s best to stay true to who we are and find people that accept us as we are. If others don’t like you, that’s none of your concern. If they wanted to be in your life, they would communicate with you why they have an issue with you. If they choose not to do that, they’re the problem.
