What Did You Do Today, Pooja?

What did I do today, you ask? Well, I actually had a nice day. As most of you know, the last couple of months have been quite stressful and draining for me. So, I’ve been trying to do things to help me relax and get out of the house even if it’s only for an hour or two.

Today, I went to a local Diwali Fair that’s held every year before Diwali. I don’t generally go because I’m not into buying the kind of stuff they have there- clothes, shoes, food, jewellery etc. But the librarian had told me that they would be selling used books from the library at really low prices so of course I had to go. I had set my budget for 3000 ksh (23 USD) max for the books. But I ended up only spending 1100 ksh (8.55 USD) for five books and I got three for free from the free/giveaway pile. I’m sure you’re curious about which books I got so here they are:

Bodily Harm By Margaret Atwood
This book was highly recommended by a person I follow on social media.
Black House By Stephen King And Peter Straub | What Did You Do Today, Pooja?
I like Stephen King, that was the logic behind this one.
Breaking Dawn By Stephenie Meyers
This was on the giveaway shelf and ’tis the season.
Evil Under The Sun By Agatha Christie
I’m an Agatha Christie fan.
The Pearl By John Steinbeck
Steinbeck is too cool for me not to take this (was a freebie).
Bridget Jones The Edge Of Reason By Helen Fielding
This pic made me chuckle because of the books positioning. (Also a freebie)
Big Little Lies By Liane Moriarty | What Did You Do Today, Pooja?
Liked the show and assumed I’d like the book.
The Husband's Secret By Liane Moriarty | What Did You Do Today, Pooja?
Sounded interesting so I got it.
What did I do today, you ask?
Tried to take an aesthetically pleasing photo but it just looks like I have freakishly long fingers like an alien…

I recently published my first book and would be honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.

  16. Nice collection, Pooj, I got a book recently but couldn’t bring it with me. Flying home now where it is waiting for me. Istanbul has become way too cool of a destination, people dress up like there is no tomorrow and prices have skyrocketed. Orhan Pamuk’s books are very descriptive of the country and the culture . And also fun to read

    1. Thank you so much. Oh I see, well you can read it and enjoy when you get back. Orhan Pamuk’s books sound very interesting. I love learning more about other cultures.

      1. The one that I bought is 900 pages long, I somehow missed it haha

        1. Oh wow, that’s huge.

  19. Have you read the Twilight Saga before?

    1. Yup, as a teenager. I know it’s a very silly plot (I prefer vampires to be bad guys) but brings back good memories from high school 😅

      1. Well, if you do a reread, I hope adult you enjoys it 🙂

    1. Aw thanks so much! I haven’t read anything by Laine Moriarty yet but I did love the show Big Little Lies so I feel like I’ll enjoy the books too. I remember being freaked out after reading The Shining, his books are definitely scary lol.

      1. I loved Big Little Lies too and I’m sure you’ll like the book. My husband is reading The Shining now, and I’d like to when he’s finished if I can muster up the courage. LOL
