Bertolt Brecht Quote

What’s Up With Me?

I really like this weeks quote. It’s one of my favourites. When we are in a bad place it’s easy to feel like it’s the end of the world. Like things are never going to look up. But the one constant in our life is change. Things are constantly changing and in many ways for the better. So it’s important to remember that because of the way the world and life works, change is always constant which means that at some point things will get better.

I have been doing good last week and this week. And I’ve made some progress at controlling my temper which is a huge step for me. For those of you that don’t know, I have a really bad temper. Most people don’t realise this as I seem fine on the outside but when I snap I see red. Word of advice, never piss me off. Just kidding. But yeah, it’s nice to see progress.

I have been trying a lot of new recipes which has been fun. Some take a bit of creativity to make oil-free or low-oil but it’s a fun process. As I mentioned, I want to focus on my health more in June so I want to try to eat as healthy as possible.

  1. It reminds me of “this too shall pass” which I’ve always loved. In the end things are as we think they are and mostly I can change my thinking. But I’ve got to be calm enough to recall that in the moment. None of us are perfect, we are still emotional beings – I always try and forgive myself when I slip up (like you I’m a firey type Pooja) all we can do is to try to be better next time that happens.

    1. Yeah, changing our thinking isn’t easy but I think it gets better once we make a conscious effort.
Of course, all we can do is try to be better next time.

  2. Welcome to the club 😂 I used to have a bad temper, and I still feel I might have it somewhere inside because it’s hard to hide anger. I don’t come across people and situations that make me see red these days. But when I do, I charge like a bull. Classic Taurus ♉️

  3. Tbh I would have never guessed that you have a bad temper because you always seem so calm and collected online.

It’s okay to get angry, upset, mad. It’s okay to want to throw something at the wall (please don’t throw something at a wall though). We are humans who are emotional beings with complicated feelings.

    1. Yeah, I’m generally quite calm until I snap lol. Definitely, it’s okay to have negative emotions. I think for me, I just need to work on how I express myself.

  4. I would love to learn those new recipes 😊

You don’t look like a person with temper as you are always sweet and helpful.

I hope I never piss you off 🥲

    1. Will share them very soon. Yesterday, we made oil free idli and sambhar.

Lol, I’m nice until I get mad. Then I just see red lol.

      1. Idli and sambhar takes very less oil, but I want to learn your healthy recipe. 🙂

You had it for dinner or as a breakfast? Like in south India it’s more common in breakfast. We eat it for dinner.
And what was idli made of ? Rawa? 😁

I sometimes become very rude with certain people. It’s not like I’m low on temper but I’m low with tolerance. Sometimes I get offended easily. And, I need to change that 😬🤐

        1. It was for breakfast. Yeah, I know it’s mainly a breakfast food. And it was made of rice flour I think. My mum made the idli lol 😅

Yeah, I do that too. If someone says something annoying I can be a bit rude.

  5. a lovely quote and so true. change is the only constant.

glad you having a good week. we wouldn’t want you upset and angry… 😋
here’s to greater weeks for you ✨🤗🤍

  6. Yes, me too. I have a very bad temper but I usually sulk and lash out in a stealthy way. It manifests a little different from yours but still a bit of similar. It is true that one should know how to regulate one’s emotions–I haven’t been able to do it very well since I often even hide from myself and from my own detection. I think writing about it really help. It is therapeutically.

And I am also on low oil diet due to my colitis. Actually it is the reason I become more like an “almost vegan” and have to look out for new recipes all the time since without meat, food can become boring at times.

    1. Lol, I’m the same unfortunately. I need to get better at expressing negative emotions. Writing definitely helps.

That makes sense. Cutting out meat and dairy helps a lot with multiple health issues. After going vegan, a lot of my health problems improved or went away. True, but we are lucky to have so many vegan substitutes now. I can’t imagine how hard it was back in the day.

      1. Such a great point. I totally concur. Whenever negative emotions come, they need to be considered, processed, and dealt with. Merely blocking it and ignoring it and wishing it going away may not work. I recently read a book about exercising one’s mind just as one exercising one’s body. It really shows how much I ignored the exercise of my mental well being before.

        1. Exactly, repressing negative emotions just causes issues in the future. Yes, exercising the mind is important as our brain is a muscle too.

  7. You exude such serenity that a bad temper seems far fetched.. I guess we only ever know what others choose to show and tell. I’ve been getting less reactive myself and more responsive ever since I learned that behind the temper was an underlying mental disorder

    1. Thanks and yeah it’s much easier to hide certain parts of ourselves online. I’m glad you’ve been getting better too.

  8. Try minty watermelon mojito – it’s refreshing, cool, and perfect for summer season.
I am doing a lot of multitasking this year and sometimes when I feel mentally fatigued, an innocent smile of a kid makes me smile too. I wish I could be as carefree as that child but I also know that as an adult that change is not possible. And yet, every year I make fitness goals to maintain and improve my health.

    1. That sounds delicious, I’ve never had a watermelon mojito before.

I wish that too. During childhood we were truly carefree.

  9. I had a very bad temper too when I was young, but you tend to mellow with age.
I’m supposing it’s hormones. Don’t beat yourself up about it. 🙂
I love the quote! It’s so true. Life always changes, sometimes for better or sometimes for worse, so I squeeze in as much fun as possible 😉

    1. Yeah, I think over time we also learn to have more patience which helps.
Absolutely, life is constantly changing either for the better or the worse and that’s okay 😊

    1. It’s working on my end and I actually know the song. It was on a show or movie I watched (I can’t remember exactly where). I really liked it.

  10. There will always be changes and challenges in life. It’s how we react to them that matters. Great quote, Pooja!

  11. Yes, only thing constant in life is change. But, we humans are impatient by nature and start complaining immediately once we find ourselves in a little bit difficult situation. We behave as if the sky has fallen and lose all hope. As a matter of fact, nothing lasts forever, whether good or bad. The earlier we realize it, the better it will be for us.

  12. I like the quote.

And, I have a horrible temper. I get angry quickly and very argumentative. I’m better at expressing my anger but I used to throw stuff at people or scream at people.🤷🏾

    1. I’m that way too. I get very stubborn and argumentative. I used to scream and bang doors but I’m more calm now lol 😅

  13. Thanks for sharing this quote; it’s a great one and I hadn’t heard it before. It’s a very good message about patience. I’m getting better with that, but it takes work for sure.

    1. It was new to me as well and wanted to share it since it really spoke to me. Yeah, definitely takes a lot of work but the work is worth it.

  14. I love this quote. It motivated me a lot to keep moving and have patience during the time i was hopeless about life in general and was going through the worst phase.

It still motivates me whenever I feel really low.

Thanks for sharing! I needed it today.

  15. I like today’s quote, it reminds me to stay hopeful when my current situation isn’t good.

Once you reach that stage of talking about your temper, it means you are more aware about it and have more control over it.👏

I usually get a temper when am in an environment where I can not freely share my thoughts.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the quote.

Yes, I agree. Admitting that we have a temper is a step in the right direction. I’m that way too. If I feel suffocated my temper worsens.
