I Was Poisoned By My Neighbours…

I Was Poisoned By My Neighbours

You read that right. I was poisoned by my neighbours. I spent some time away from the blog due to feeling ill. Obviously, I assumed that perhaps I had a cold since my throat and head hurt. But it wasn’t a cold, I was poisoned by my neighbours. In the last few weeks I have been poisoned twice. First my lipstick and now my neighbours. I’m not even sure how I’m still alive…

So let’s go back a little and let me explain everything. On Tuesday night, I was sitting in my living room talking to my cousin who had come over. And suddenly we smelt something that smelt overwhelmingly like chemicals. We weren’t sure what was going on and eventually my mum came into the living room and told us the smell was fumigation fumes.

Now, our dear neighbours had decided to spray everything outside and all the fumes came up into our apartment. For a few hours it smelt awful and although we tried to avoid the smell there wasn’t much we could do about it. After a few hours I got a really bad headache and my throat started to hurt. I hoped I could sleep it off but felt worse the next day and spoke to my doctor who confirmed it was due to the fumigation fumes.

I’m perfectly fine now and my doctor did give me a few tips on how to get everything out of my system so hopefully I’ll survive. But wow are my neighbours assholes. Like they sprayed it at like 10pm and didn’t give any of us a heads up. Who does something like that? And they knew the fumes would go everywhere because they sprayed it outside not inside their apartment. I’m going to have to be extra careful now.

In other news, it’s my mum’s birthday today! Also, a random stray cat just walked into our house and we have been feeding it ever since. We think it’s lost since it’s so used to humans. We’re trying to spread the word about her so we can get her back to her owners. Please send some positive vibes her way. She’s such a sweetheart.

  1. Oh no! glad you are ok.. hope your mother has a nice b-day, and nice of you to feed the cat, hope you find the owner if there is one. positive vibes 🙂

  2. Pooja, please feel better! Your neighbors are shockingly inconsiderate. Have you considered masking up and running an air purifier in your home?

  3. Yeah, these past couple of weeks have NOT been a walk in the park for you. Are you sure you’re not some super secret spy that is being targeted?
    😀

  4. Oh my gosh, Pooja! That is 100% unacceptable! Have you contacted the main office? How ridiculous, I am so glad that you and your family are okay. And, happy birthday to your mum! ❤️😊

    1. I know, it was so awful. My mum contacted our managers and hopefully this won’t happen again. But my neighbours just suck so never know 😫 Thanks ❤️

  5. Neighbors can be quite awful, in my view it’s illegal to use the chemicals so irresponsibly.
    Happy birthday to your mom!
Welcome to the feline friend of yours 😄

  6. Oh no, that’s terrible news about your neighbors and am so sorry to know of what you went through because of it. Glad to hear you are better now and happy birthday to your mom! ❤️

    1. Our management also does the spraying but it seems they had bugs again or something so they did it privately. We’re usually warned in advance too. This was the first time something like this has happened and these neighbours are new so they may not know the rules well.

  7. I have had this, and recently so has one of my friends. I had this repulsive neighbour who had no regard for other people’s rights, space, finances… I was workshopping a novel… had paid for the weekend seminar and he lacquered his parking space on a hot still balmy evening. He was staying elsewhere. Such people are great at listening, saying sorry, and doing nothing to change. Same guy didn’t pay back several other neighbours several thousand dollars each. Claimed one of them was racist because spotted him money for work that all owners were obligated to have done.
When he did go, I was so thrilled that no longer was I going to get groped in the driveway by another man every time he condescended to have a yarn with me. Some people are poison… how it manifests in the setting… is like a game of Cluedo

      1. I’m glad nobody needs touch me when they speak to me. Some can’t listen in a conversation, so they invade your space. I think Shakespeare wrote… all the world’s a nightclub 🤔

  8. That sounds crazy…I’m glad to know you’re ok…wtf was wrong with those neighbours…using such chemicals outside & without even informing others & that too, so late…they crossed all the lines…if you’ve a building society / administrator or something like that, lodge a complaint against them…do think of it…please take care of yourself & get the last bit of those chemicals out of your system…I know you’re already doing so…hope your beloved mom had a lovely b’day…how nice to know that you’ve been feeding this cat…hoping you’d find the owner…perhaps the picture on social media would help…when I hear the word cat, I’m like ‘awww’…be well, Pooja 💫🌟✨

    1. Yeah, it was such a crazy experience. In all the years we’ve lived here we’ve never experienced such things till these neighbours moved in. My mum did talk to the management so hopefully it’ll never again.
We’ve been sharing the cats picture so I really hope we find her owner and if not we will be taking care of her.

      1. That’s good to know…hopefully these new neighbours won’t repeat this & you’d find the owner of the cat…how lovely that you’d be taking care of her otherwise ✨

  9. 1. Inconsiderate neighbors are, I fear, a universal hassle.
    2. I hope you feel 1000% better now. If not now, then soon!
    3. Happy birthday to your mum!
    4. Way back in the late 1980s (1987, to be precise) a female chinchilla Persian wandered into our house. She was a bit unkempt and her fur had some leaves stuck in it, but she was used to humans and even when Mom ushered her out the front door, she waltzed right in. She wanted to stay. She probably wandered out of her original house and her owners didn’t bother looking for her…or if they did, they didn’t advertise her as “Lost Cat.” So, she stayed with us for nearly 6 years. She had high blood pressure, so even though she took meds for her condition, Natasha (Mom named her) lost her sight in one eye in 1990 and eventually suffered a hemorrhage that forced us to “put her to sleep in early 1993. I loved that cat, though, and the feeling was mutual!

    1. Thanks so much, I’m fully okay now and hopefully won’t be poisoned again any time soon.
That’s so nice. I’m so glad she found a loving home with you guys. We’ll definitely be keeping her if we can’t find her owners. She’s just so sweet.

  10. I’m so sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with your neighbors’ fumigation. It’s truly concerning that they didn’t communicate or take precautions.
Wishing you a swift recovery! Happy birthday to your mom, and sending positive vibes for the sweet stray cat’s safe return home.

  11. Happy Birthday to your mother.

Have you thought about putting together an antidote kit for the top 100 poisons and maybe purchasing an SCBA? 🙂

Glad you are okay and hope you don’t have any long term side effects.

  12. Wow you need to fumigate your neighbours. Please stay alive. Ofc all the stray cats are attracted to you lol. Also a very Happy Birthday to your mum!! ❤️

  13. After all this suffering, I hope at least the mosquitoes or whatever it was are dead. I don’t know how this happens that from a catastrophe comes a cat and many happy birthday messages. Hopefully now in the daze aftermath all the heroines will live happily ever after and the fairy-tale will need no fairies and ordinary magic will do. Although, there was the tale of the princess and the Korean chickpea. The King’s royal fumigator left a cloud of Gochugaru and the princess fell asleep under a pile of pillows or something… I forget how that goes. Ooops, I think in this story the cat would be the Princess.

    1. The mosquitoes are one hundred percent still there lol. I don’t know what they used but it wasn’t effective and we’re the only ones who got poisoned…

  14. Happy Birthday to your mom! 🎉🥳👏🏾

Also, I’m glad you’re on the mend. That’s one of the downsides to apartment living, you never know what your neighbors will do that will affect you, too. Ugh. 🥺

Also, the cat is probably going to end up being yours now. Y’all have been feeding it. Lol. But hopefully, the owners will pop up, too.

    1. Thanks!

Yeah, living in an apartment is tough. You always have some awful neighbours 😫

Lol, I don’t mind keeping it as well 😅

  15. Wow, that is so inconsiderate!! And very scary. If that happened to me, I wouldn’t be so strong, I’d be terrified.
I’m glad you’re okay. You’re very strong and you did the right thing going to the doctor.
Wishing your Mom a very, very Happy Birthday.
    (When is your birthday?)

  16. Sorry to hear this. I’m glad to hear you and yours are alright. As for the cat if nobody claims it, keep it. A house / apartment with a cat becomes a home. An interesting one as well.

  17. Happy birthday to your mother

She’s the best human being, she created you (and the best RG) and now tolerating you 🤪
Just kidding. But happy birthday to aunty ji.

You PG, I don’t know what are your intentions. You need to drop your evil ways and live like a good person.
The world is against you and you need to stay safe. 😂

  18. Pooja what the hell were they thinking. Someone could have died. I’m sorry that happened.
happy birthday to your mom and how cute is that about the precious cat.

  19. That’s terrible! When we had pest control over (inside the house), that was before we moved in and I notified my neighbour! The staff informed us to ensure no one without the proper gear would be on site for 24 hours. I’m glad you’re OK. Speedy recovery

    1. Yeah, precautions must be taken with these things. We fumigate the whole building once a year and we’re always told about it in advance. This was the first time something like this happened. My new neighbours are not great people.

  20. How awful that your neighbors were so inconsiderate, and I am glad you’re feeling better. At least you know why you were sick. I hope you find the kitty cat’s owners.

  21. I am glad you recovered but those people are terrible neighbors. They could have at least given people a warning to close their windows.

Happy Birthday to your mom 🙂

    1. Yes, they’re just very careless people in general. We’ve had multiple issues with them even before the poisoning.

      Thank you 🙂

  22. Happy birthday to your mom! I appreciate your taking care of the piilgrim kitty. And, yes, your neighbors are thoughtless to say the least. I’m relieved you’re better, but the reason to have been sick is outrageous.

    1. She says thanks!

The kitten is so sweet I’m happy to feed her and play with her till she can find a forever home. Yeah, I was so mad when I found out they had sprayed everything without informing anyone.

  23. Good thing is, you certainly have a lot of friends here. They really should have let you know what they were doing. Some people are so careless, thoughtless and inconsiderate; dangerous to be around. Anyway, I’m glad you’re alright. Here’s for your cat: Meow, meow, meow…

    1. They are such incredibly inconsiderate people. I’ve had multiple issues with them since they moved in and I rarely have issues with neighbours even though we’ve been living here for almost two decades.
      The cat says: meow meow

  24. Can you not call the police on these people or file a police report of some type?? That’s WILD. Thank goodness you’re okay! I feel like the biggest thing with living around people (and a huge reason I hate a lot of the people in New Jersey) is that everyone is so INCONSIDERATE.

    1. Unfortunately, the police doesn’t do much where I’m at. We talked to management so hopefully it won’t happen again but I won’t be surprised if it does. Yeah, people are honestly quite inconsiderate and that’s the issue with living in apartments.

  25. Good grief I’m sorry that happened to you and glad you’re ok. Happy belated birthday to your mother and good luck on finding the cat’s owners, if not perhaps you have a new pet

  26. Oh my Pooja, that is really disrespectful and outrageous! I’ve had a few neighbors like that in the past. Definitely no fun. I’m very sorry this happened to you but glad you are okay now. As always, great writing, and best of health to you!

  27. I’m glad you’re feeling better. Those kind of fumes are no joke. Our neighbors sprayed some kind of bug killer on their property but close to our house. They were at least nice enough to let us know so we could plan to be out of the house that day. Inconsiderate neighbors are the worst. Hopefully you’re back to fighting fit soon!

    1. Yeah, someone could have gotten really ill or worse due to the fumes. It was so inconsiderate of them. I’m glad your neighbours gave you a heads up.

  28. thats a silly and stupid thing do without first informing people, and they didnt care, considering it was 10pm at night. the fumes is no joke. But great that you are feeling better now, and hopefully doesnt happen again

  29. I panicked when I read the title ( the hitman poisoning his targets ) that came into my mind . Anyway you’re safe now . People are going nuts these days literally!

      1. I can’t imagine. As a person who has never been poisoned, I don’t know how you would even go about taking precautions in the future without losing your sanity.

  30. Aw will pray and send positive vibes to you and the cat you’re feeding awww. I hope your neighbors get some common sense. Wow 🤯😳 People can be crazy. Happy belated birthday to your mom!

    1. Yeah, I’ve heard of that too but luckily we don’t use too much fertiliser in our compound and we have a gardener who takes care of everything.

  31. So glad you’re ok! Sounds like you inherited my old, horrifying neighbors!!! (JK – they live in the US!) Geesh! Is there anything you can do? Talk to the landlord or something? That’s just unacceptable.

    1. I know, it was awful. We own the house so no landlord but we did talk to the management that handles our building and they had a talk with the neighbours. Hopefully there will be no more poisoning in the future…

  32. Wow, what a hectic time you are having and that’s terrible news about the fumes making you so sick. I hope you recover from that quickly. People can be so inconsiderate about important things like that. I’d be pissed too. 🤬

  33. Please watch out for yourself! Unbelievable that some people don’t think twice before doing stuff like that. My best wishes are with you! 🫶 Yours, Sovely
