A Day In My Life As A Freelancer

A Day In My Life As A Freelancer

I realised that I haven’t done a “Day In My Life” post in quite a while and certainly not since I started working full-time. So, I decided that it may be fun to share one so you can see what it’s like being a freelancer. This is sort of older because it took a while for me to get the post together. And shoutout to Devang from FGW for suggesting I share “A Day In My Life As A Freelancer” post.

Morning

I start the day by meditating for 15 minutes and icing my face for about five minutes. Face icing helps wake me up and smoothens out any fine lines I may have. It also helps keep the skin young and helps with proper blood flow. I usually try to do some basic yoga but I had a busy day ahead so I skipped it.

Once I was ready to start the day, I made some bread with plant based butter for breakfast. I usually don’t have breakfast as it makes me feel gross but I’m taking some medications at the moment which I have to take after eating so I’ve started to eat breakfast. It’s not too bad once you get used to it. Unfortunately for me, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it lol.

A Day In My Life As A Freelancer

I spent the rest of the morning working as I would not be able to work in the afternoon at all. I finished responding to comments on my blog and did some work for clients. And that was pretty much my morning.

Afternoon

I started the afternoon with some lunch. I honestly don’t know what to call it because it has many names none of which are in English lol. But it’s like a high protein meal for vegans/vegetarians. I needed the protein because I had an appointment with my doctor in the afternoon and I would have to wait for more than an hour. Plus, I had some walking around to do.

Next, I got ready and went to the doctor. As expected, I waited almost two hours but I was prepared with a book to read so it wasn’t so bad. I realised while waiting that my reading speed has really decreased recently. Back in the day I would have easily finished the book in two hours but I was barely halfway through on this day. The appointment went well, my doctor is very nice and actually listens which I’ve noticed a lot of doctors don’t do.

A Day In My Life As A Freelancer

I wanted to treat myself after the appointment so I walked to an Artcaffe located close by. I had some coffee and continued reading. Honestly, I had been feeling burnt out so this was a nice break. It was relaxing and the coffee was delicious. And decaf so I wasn’t weird and anxious after.

Evening/Night

I ended the evening my relaxing for a bit while listening to music and then having some pulao for dinner. It was really good and one of my favourite dishes to make. For dessert I had half a cinnamon roll that I split with my sister. Literally so soft and delicious! I felt like I deserved another treat today lol. I rarely have things with sugar in them and definitely not white sugar but I also think it’s okay to have a treat now and then.

Then, I did some writing and finished a bit of work. Next, I did some facial Gua Sha and went to bed after meditating for fifteen minutes again.

And that is pretty much a day in my life as a freelancer. If you would like to view the video version of “A Day In My Life As A Freelancer” (which I think is way more interesting lol) you can do so on YouTube:

  1. You did a good job on the video presentation

    1. Thanks so much.

  2. I love your video, Pooja, I would love to see more videos by you. The Like button won’t load for me, sorry.

    1. Thanks so much, working on another similar video atm. Sorry about that, I talked to WP and apparently it’s an issue affecting many sites and they’re working to resolve it.

      1. It’s not working on my site too. Yay WP! ☹️☹️☹️

        1. Urgghh, there’s a new glitch like every week 😞

          1. Apparently, way to go, WP!!

            1. Just got an email from them and it seems like it’s been fixed. These glitches are becoming so irritating 😕

              1. Yes, my Like button and other buttons are working again. WP is so much fun! 😂😵‍💫

                1. So fun, I don’t know why we ever complain 😅

                  1. We complain because it’s human nature I guess. 😂

                    1. It is and we’ll continue to complain 😆

                    2. 🤙🏻😂😂😂

  3. Video was well done and brought your blog to life! As someone who also works from home, I can relate to going out for a change of scenery. I was waiting for an appointment for an hour last week and I was super distracted by all the people talking around me. I can’t believe I used to be able to work in an office with people talking around me all the time. LOL

    1. What appointment?
      What’s up with you? 😯

You read a book or something?

      1. Appointment to take the family car in. Tried to write some blogs while I waited but it wasn’t easy to work with all the distractions.

        1. Then good
          I thought medical appointment.

Writing blogs is typical. It needs concentration

    2. Thanks so much! Absolutely, when you work from home you need to go our often and get some fresh air otherwise you’ll burn out. Haha lol, yeah I’ve never worked in an office and don’t think I ever could. I think you get used to it though and now that you’ve been freelancing for so long you’re not used to it anymore.

      1. I’ve never liked open concept offices. The only office I liked working in was when I had my own room with a door. (Which was similar to work from home.) LOL

        1. Lol, that’s fair. Yeah, open concept offices sound like a nightmare. A good friend of mine worked in one and quit in a few weeks because it just wasn’t for her.

          1. They like how they can “watch” that their workers are being productive. It’s too noisy though.

            1. It’s just so toxic 😪

  4. For some reason the like button didn’t load for me. The desserts look delicious.

    1. Thanks so much, delicious they were. Sorry about that, I talked to WP and it’s an issue from their end that they’re working to resolve.

  5. And that’s how you get shoutout from famous and ultra talented blogger folks 💁🏻

I like that you sleep with glasses on, good for clear dreams 😝
You look pretty in the morning as well, so okay, that’s actual you 😛

I love your day. Peaceful. Great thing you took a book with you. I think it’s far better than wasting time on phone(which most people do).
You gave yourself a good me-time. I’m satisfied reading/learning that.

About your book, you better write it fast, I’m waiting for it eagerly.

You are taking a lot of medicine dear PooG, I hope you feel better soon.

    1. I forgot to link you!!! I need to do that now 😩

Thanks so much, it was an interesting day overall. Don’t worry most of the meds are just temporary supplements.

      1. Take care!!

Have a satisfying day, that works on your own terms like this. 🤜🏻

  6. looks so peaceful at the cafe you went!
i cannot read out like that i feel like i will get so distracted bc i enjoy people watching :/ lol

    1. Thanks so much! Lol, usually I like people watching but I really wanted to finish the book 😅

  7. It’s great to see how you go about your routine to fit your needs while managing a busy schedule.

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it.

  8. In the enchanting tapestry of my winter break, the days gracefully waltz into a dance with the whims of time. 🎭 Waking up, sometimes in an early bird mode, other times in a snoozy bear style – major shoutout to my sister for preventing me from embracing full-day hibernation! 🧤🐻

After a breakfast fit for champions, I embark on a three-hour scholarly adventure, juggling between the smartphone saga and diving into a League of Legends odyssey – because, let’s be real, virtual victories are the unsung heroes of life’s sweet triumphs. 📚🎮

A brisk walk becomes my interlude, a journey to untangle the web of thoughts, all within the cozy confines of my winter retreat. 🚶‍♂️ Lunch is a solemn affair before surrendering to a four-hour study spree – seven hours, the negotiated truce with my study buddy, aka sister. 🕰️

As dusk wraps its arms around me, I find myself at my window, gazing at stars and pondering the cosmic possibility of someone, somewhere, sharing the same celestial reverie amidst winter’s embrace. ✨ Family time unfolds with political discussions, ancient tales, and synchronized smartphone scrolling, turning the living room into a haven of warmth. 📱

Post-dinner, my “humble abode” (cue laughter) transforms into a sanctuary for late-night adventures – Kindle escapades, movie marathons, or heartfelt conversations with online comrades. 📖🎬 Late-night musings find a home in my diary, while WordPress reigns as my digital kingdom, a realm of creativity untethered by school obligations. 👑

Sleep, the whimsical companion, gracefully draws the curtain on the day – unless, of course, a day is devoted entirely to family and the ever-adorable nephew, for in the grand saga of life, family remains the constant plot twist. 💖

So here you have it – a whimsical winter break, a delightful departure from the study-laden school breaks, where each day unfolds in chaotic bliss before the college adventure begins. 🌟 #WinterBreakChronicles #ChaosBeforeCollege

    1. Loved reading about your life and it sounds quite interesting. I hope you are able to savour the rest of your winter break 😊

  9. Sounds like a productive day for you Pooja! What do use as protein in the pulao!

    1. Thank you! It depends on my mood but in this one I used peas, tofu and broccoli for protein. Cauliflower is also a great source of protein but unfortunately it’s not in season at the moment 😞

      1. You’re welcome. Thanks! I don’t like chicken much so I’d be glad to use alternative protein.

        1. No problem, I understand. I think the best alternative to chicken is tofu since it’s quite high in protein. And if you freeze it before using it has that chewy chicken texture too but without the chicken taste.

          1. I’ve used all types of tofu in America but it’s very expensive here. I’d rather use paneer.

            1. Yeah, paneer is great too if you eat dairy.

              1. Oh yes I love dairy products

                1. Then paneer is great. Do you make your own or use store bought?

                  1. Sometimes I make it at home, but usually I buy it from a shop that sells very good quality one

                    1. Oh that’s good. Although I no longer eat paneer my family does and they do the same.

                    2. Homemade is way better than store bought. I even added seasoning in it once and it was delicious

                    3. Oh nice, the seasoned one sounds so delicious.

                    4. It was 🥹

  10. An interesting glimpse. You didn’t tell us about your work though??

    1. Thank you! The work is just the services I have listed haha!

  11. balanced and a day well spent.
(except for the breakfast part 😬 doubt I can get used to that lol)

    🤍

    1. Thanks so much, lol breakfast is just not for everyone 😅

      1. 😁

        my pleasure 🤍

  12. I am on vacation, so not really a day in the life.

My breakfast not vegan; 2 glasses of water, slice of ham, fish sticks with HP sauce, mustard pickles and blueberries.

Picked up newspaper (mostly for comics and horoscope) and a diet coke. Watched news that I recorded earlier.

Went grocery shopping. Had A&W teen burger with no bacon and onion rings for supper.

Sanded drywall and cleaned up dust. Started putting ceiling tiles in.
Went to see the movie Wish. Had popcorn with sour cream and onion seasoning, bottle water and medium diet pepsi.

Finished putting ceiling tiles up. Put a coat of primer on walls.

Check email, social media and WordPress. Now off to bed.

    Have a great day.

    1. Hope you’re having a relaxing vacation. That sounds like a fun day and now I miss A&W lol. I don’t know if you’ve had their Beyond Burger but it’s really good.

  13. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the video too.

    1. My pleasure, so glad you enjoyed it.

  14. Seems you had a productive day, Pooja, and I loved the video. 💖

    1. Thank you, yes quite a productive day 😊

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja.💖

  15. “What’s a day in your life like?” I am retired (74 yrs. old), live alone, and so my foremost concern is taking care of myself– eating, exercise, sleeping, cleaning. Besides that, I mostly consume data, or information, via WordPress, YouTube, X, and Goodreads (good book you’re reading, btw.) Besides that, I watch shows and movies, sports, read, and listen to music and drink dark whiskey.
    ~
I don’t export much data anymore, posting here just once a week. Mostly it’s incoming. The peopled-world is not okay, from where I sit. There is a lot of hurt, angry, lonely, tired people.
    ~
Regarding self-care– primary is checking in with my Psych-girl every 3/4 weeks; and on occasion with family.

    1. That’s a nice day, sounds quite relaxing.

  16. Excellent post, Pooja! I enjoyed it a lot. You managed your day perfectly. I love to read all your posts😊🥰🤗👏

    1. Thank you so much, so happy to hear that 😊

      1. 😊🥰🤗🤗💯💯💯🌟✨🙏🥰

  17. This is an engaging read. I appreciate knowing what goes on on the outside and the inside. I also appreciate knowing something of your regimen (though I don’t know what a pulao is). My version has included lowering salt in my diet, and now sugar is a problem. There was a sudden increase, and there is yet no certainly about how that happened. My day, in response to your question, starts with waking up, making coffee, and then writing. The writing takes some hours, and I try to push off appointments generally to the afternoon. I draft, I revise, I select, I pose, I read the writing of others. Depending on how I’m feeling, the afternnon is for, as I said, appointments, also errands, and sometimes with more writing. I talk with people throughout the day, typically medical folk or friends or members of my family. If I visit friends, it’s usually in the evening. I’ve been working at setting aside the computer by then and leaving it that way (set aside). We had Thanksgiving in the USA last week, though I had an unplanned day. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving on 12 October? I hope this is the start of a good week for you.

    1. Thanks so much. Pulao is a rice dish, it’s a little like fried rice but with Indian spices.
I’ve cut out sugar too except for a treat once in a blue moon. Apparently my body isn’t good at processing sugar.
Sorry you’ve had to lower salt and sugar too. It sucks. But has to be done sometimes.
No, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here or anything similar but hope you had a nice one.

      1. Thanks for the description of pulao. I like all the ingredients. I’ve done okay lowering salt; sugar is tne new challenges. You’re right, we all have sucky things to do sometimes. I said “pose” above when I meant to say “post.” Sigh.

        1. Haha yes, I assumed you meant post. Don’t worry, typos are common. Lowering sugar is really hard. But worth it if it helps our body.

  18. Sometimes it’s nice to read slowly. It makes you savour it more

    1. Yeah, that’s true.

  19. That’s a pretty full day! Thanks for sharing it. Great self-care/treating.

I also meditate at the start and end of the day, and find it really sets a good foundation/ending for the day.

    1. Yup, it was a busy day! Thanks so much and yeah meditation helps a lot.

      1. You’re welcome!

  20. I also usually skip breakfast or I’ll eat around or after 10AM cause I have stomach issues if I eat my vitamins on an empty stomach. I realized today the vitamins also taste better if I eat something before hand haha.

    1. It’s the same for me, I get acid reflux if I take supplements on an empty stomach. Otherwise, I used to just skip breakfast.

  21. Love this little peek into your life, Pooja, and those cinnamon rolls sound and look delicious!

    1. Thank you so much, they we definitely really delicious!

  22. Nice Video Pooja…have another good day!

  23. What’s the creamy thing on pulao?

    1. Vegan red pepper pesto.

  24. Busy, systematic and nice routine. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much.

  25. Interesting and fun post! Devang is my blogger friend too and I think we became friends through your blog.

    1. Thanks so much! Devang is so nice and a good friend to me too.

      1. You’re welcome! Have a great day and take care 🙂

        1. Thanks so much and have a great day too 🙂

          1. You’re welcome! Take care. 🙂

  27. Thanks for sharing your productive day, Pooja, and the video is great. ❤️

    1. My pleasure, so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much ❤️

  28. Thanks for sharing a day in the life of a freelancer it must be the greatest feeling working to your own schedule. Food looked great and I hope you will be back feeling 100% soon after your visit to the doctor.

    1. Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it. Absolutely, it’s really nice not having fixed timings. It gives me a lot more free time. Yes, I’ll be back to normal soon.

  29. “I’ve had a question for a while now: do long nails ever cause any inconveniences in daily activities? Just curious and thought I’d finally ask.Hope it’s not too odd of a question!”

    1. Not odd at all! I’ve had long nails since I was a teenager so I’m really used to them and they don’t inconvenience me at all. Actually when I cut them I get inconvenienced because I’m so used to doing everything with long nails 😅

      1. “My fear of long nails runs deep – I’d willingly surrender my cherished cookie to my sister or take on a cat in a wrestling match just to avoid clashing with those formidable talons. From childhood battles with the first sister to growing up and facing the second sister’s long nails, the struggle is real! 🍪😺💅”

        1. Lol, that’s fair 😅

  30. Great post. I hope you are feeling better. What book were you reading? Was it a good one? I am glad your day went well. Thank you for sharing. It has been a while since you posted A Day In Your Life post. Looking forward to reading more. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m much better now. The book I was reading is called The Quiet American and I loved it. Hope to post another one soon. Thanks again and have a great week too.

  31. oh no face ising would do me in !!!!1 you’re a tough cookie Pooja❣️
