Another Day In My Life

I shared a DIML post a while back and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I got a lot of positive feedback both on the blog and my YouTube channel. So, I decided to make another one. Here is another day in my life:

Morning

I usually wake up and meditate for fifteen minutes and then ice my face.

I am NOT a morning person and I am even less of a breakfast person. But, since I can’t take my medications on an empty stomach I’ve had to adjust and eat breakfast daily. Another reason is that my calorie intake was getting too low when I wasn’t eating breakfast. So, my nutritionist/sister advised me to eat breakfast daily to up my calories. It was tough at first but these days I’ve been trying to get creative with my breakfast meals. On this day, I made two types of toasts and a vegan sausage for some protein. One is a basil pesto and avocado toast and the other is a basil pesto, pickle, tomato and onion toast. Can you tell I had some homemade basil pesto lying around that I needed to finish?

After breakfast, I did what I usually do and finished most of my work for the day as I had a busy afternoon ahead and knew I wouldn’t be able to do much later on.

Afternoon

Afternoon is where it got fun. I quickly had some lunch which consisted of aloo paratha, soya chunk curry and some cut veggies. I hadn’t been eating too healthy today because I knew I would be walking a lot for the rest of the day and would need the energy/calories. This was my first try making aloo paratha completely on my own and they turned out pretty good. I rarely make them since I don’t like any type of paratha much and also because vegan butter is expensive lol. These are generally cooked in butter.

After lunch, my sister and I headed to Sarit Centre– a popular mall in Nairobi. I had some things I needed to buy that just could not be put off for any longer. First, I went to a bookstore because I needed to get some pens for my dad. Next, I went to Miniso because it’s adorable and I couldn’t resist lol. Also, I needed socks. I bought two pairs of cute socks and a sleep mask I needed.

Lastly, we went to Carrefour for some groceries. My main objective here was to buy some spicy ghost peppers which were finally in season and in stock. I bought three because I’m not good with spicy food lol.

I forgot to take pictures of everything because I’m forgetful sometimes but you can see all the stores and the things I bought on my YouTube video which will be linked below.

Evening

After putting on some more comfy clothes, I decided to rest for a little bit after coming home. We had walked quite a bit and I was tired. After that I started cooking dinner. I decided to make ramen noodles because I was too tired to cook something from scratch. I was so excited to try the ghost peppers that I chopped half of one and added it to my noodles. They were SO spicy but so delicious too.

I had dinner while watching some episodes of Friends and had homemade vegan chocolate bites as dessert.

After dinner, I watched TV for a bit longer. Then, I did some last minute work, some writing, Gua Sha, meditation and went to bed a bit early since I was still tired.

  1. I’ve never tried a Ghost Pepper but heard that they are extremely hot. Friends is on TV here every afternoon! I’m going to order socks and new sweat pants from Amazon in a moment. We think alike, Pooja! 😂❤️

    1. Yeah, the ghost pepper was spicier than anything I’ve ever had but so good. Oh nice, sweat pants are my second comfy clothing item to buy! 😅❤️

      1. I use Serrano peppers. Those pants won’t get here for a while, Christmas slows things down.

        1. Oh yeah, things always take longer to get delivered during this month due to all the Christmas shopping.

          1. Have a great holiday, Pooja, I’m not sure if you celebrate Christmas. ❤️

            1. Thanks 😊 Yes, Kenya is a very Christian country and Christmas is celebrated here. My family generally doesn’t do gifts but we do spend the holiday together. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas too although I know your family celebrated it a little early this year 🎄❤️

              1. That’s good. 😊 I’ll be here by myself.

                1. Still, hope you have a great day 😊

                  1. Thanks Pooja. I have by myself for much of my life.

                    1. Honestly, you would rather be by yourself than with the wrong person. At least that’s what I think.

                    2. Ha after three divorces, you betcha! I’d love to have a girlfriend but it just never happens. I miss the companionship of a lady…

                    3. I understand, it’s hard finding someone you can really connect with. I’ve never really had longterm relationships for that issue although I would like to meet someone in the future. Not for marriage but just a relationship would be good.

                    4. You would be the right girl for me! 😊🤙🏻

                    5. Aw thanks, you’re such a great person too! I hope some day we get to hang out in person 😊

                    6. Thanks, and that would be great. We have followed each other for some time now!

                    7. Yes, it’s been a while and always fun chatting with you ❤️

                    8. ☺️❤️❤️🥰

  2. Just “thinking” about ghost peppers is too spicy for me 😀 I could never eat one, that’s for sure.

For breakfast I usually have a banana and then a jimmy dean breakfast bowl. I need the fat and protein to keep me going at my job and if I don’t eat enough protein in the morning then I start getting hungry at 10 and lunch isn’t until 11 or 12 🙂

    1. Lol, to be fair I only ate half the ghost pepper and it was crazy spicy but good since I love spicy food 😅

That makes sense, protein keeps you full for longer and obviously when you’re working you need the energy from protein too.

  3. Currently my diet routine is 60% proteins, 30% carbs, 10% fat if I’m being good, :D. Plus I cycle about 5-8 miles every other day, and perform weight lifting up to 45 mins (in 3-4 chunks) non-cycle days.

    1. That’s really great. A healthy diet and lifestyle is the best way to live.

  4. today, it’s trying to get over the flu, so noodles, soup, and lots and lots of tea…..got to get better by Monday……yikes

    1. Oh no, that sucks. Hope you’re feeling okay now.

  5. Your meals look very appetizing.

    1. Thanks so much, I try my best with cooking.

      1. Yes, and doing that pays well. Clean and healthy food.

        1. Absolutely, eating well literally reduces your chances of getting so many diseases.

          1. So true. 🫶🏼👌🏼👍🏼

  6. I love avocado toast so I’m happy to see that here 😋 everything else looks yummy too!

    1. Thanks, yup avocado toast is so delicious 😋

  7. Delicious looking day, and life! 🌼

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

  8. Today, I set out on an epic quest to explore the realms of my home, determined not to venture beyond its cozy borders. Initially armed with noble intentions of studying, my ambitions soon succumbed to the irresistible allure of Netflix. The study desk became a forgotten relic as I plunged into the captivating abyss of shows and movies. Time melted away faster than I could say “just one more episode,” leaving me ensnared in the clutches of on-screen adventures. In the grand saga of my day, the heroics of academia took a backseat to the binge-worthy narratives of the digital kingdom.😜

    1. Hehe to be fair we’ve all been seduced by the binge-worthy narratives of the digital kingdom 😅

      1. “Promising your Netflix a break after an episode is like telling yourself you’ll only eat one potato chip. We all know how that story goes!”

        1. We’ve all been there and none of us have succeeded in stopping!

  9. Vegan chocolate bites look yum !!

    1. They were, my mum makes the best vegan chocolate!

  10. Looks like you had a good day.

Just the name Ghost Pepper would scare me away from them. 🙂

    1. I did, it was a busy but fun day. Haha yeah, my sister feels the same way about the ghost peppers but I’m a bit more adventurous with spicy food.

  11. Looks like you had a full day of enjoying yourself. Happy that you’re feeling better. Everything looked good. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. I did, it was a busy but great day. Thanks so much, have a great week too.

  12. These things are alien to me

    But I’m fascinated!
You look pretty in morning as well 😅

    1. Well, now you’ve learnt some new things from my blog 😅
Haha thanks, it’s the face icing and gua sha- keeps the skin young 😊

      1. I’ve learned a lot from your blog anyway

        1. I’ve learnt from your blog too.

            1. I have! Your posts are so informative.

              1. Oh, I try!
                Learning from the best

  15. Aloo parantha is my favorite.

    1. I don’t make them often but do enjoy them occasionally. They’re delicious but difficult to make.

  16. wait what!
    no poptarts
    or eggnog?
how is this a happy xmos poojer?

    1. Nope, it’s a vegan Christmas at our household 🎄

      1. ham and wine and a silly pooja is just fine!

      2. Pooja i hope you are well to day.

        1. A little sleepy but well, thank you. Hope you’re well too.

          1. pop tart time! good healthy eating.

              1. i did your sister luna says hello. she was in dark purple to day

                1. Tell her I say hello too.

                  1. she has joined sag. screen actors guild.

                  2. good day~ to you and your sissy much joy!

  17. Looks like a nice day with yummy food! ❤️ I love the vlog. Miniso is such a cute store. 🥺 I was shocked seeing those ghost peppers. Those are sooo spicy, I’m amazed at how ppl can handle them lol!

    1. Thanks so much! Miniso is my favourite, I go there even when I don’t need anything 😅 Ghost peppers are crazy spicy, I’ve never tasted anything that spicy but they’re also so delicious! 🥵

  18. There are always beautiful posts and unique words that motivate me. Pooja❕❕😊🥰🤗👌👌

    1. Thanks so much, so happy to hear that 😊

  19. I love peppers but I’ve not heard of ghost peppers. Anything extremely hot and spicy is not for me. I love your vlog, Pooja, and your posts about food because I always learn something new. 💟

    1. Yeah, I believe ghost peppers are the spiciest peppers in the world so I would avoid them if you don’t enjoy very spicy foods. I only used half of one but it was still incredibly spicy. Thanks so much, so happy to hear that 💕

  20. You do a good job taking photographs of food. Everything looks good.

    1. Thanks so much, thankfully my phone has a nice camera which helps.

  21. My normal morning routine finds me up early and enjoying coffee, yogurt, and cheese. Then I spend time with my devotional reading and writing. I later eat more of a brunch with my wife when she wakes up (she isn’t an early riser).

    1. That sounds really nice. I’m like your wife and don’t like to wake up very early but on days I’m busy I wake up a bit earlier.

  22. Hello

    1. Thanks so much, I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed my posts. And appreciate your support for my blog.

  23. What a great day! I wanted to buy some socks but the thing is I already have too many, because I love buying socks. Today I bought 2 blouses in Old Navy, they are very gothic looking so I’m ready for Christmas. I also bought some yarn, I want to start a new project. I didn’t stretch or meditate which is a bummer, but I talked to my mom and sis this morning so I guess it’s an accomplishment. Now I am going to start cooking, it is something I need to do on weekends to be ready for the coming week.

    1. Same here, I only buy socks once a year because I already have some but can never resist them. The blouses sound cool, I love more gothic clothing. Hope the cooking went well.

      1. It went well. The only problem is that my weekend was way too busy, I need another one

        1. That’s always the problem, weekdays go too slow and weekends get so busy they go too quickly.

  24. That’s a pretty full day. And your breakfast had a lot of variety in it!

    1. Thanks so much! I try to eat as much of a variety as possible.

  25. I always love when you share our day with us! Great post.

    1. Thank you, so glad you enjoy them!

  26. Nice read. Your day was filled with a lot of fun activities 🙂 I donno why I would have assumed you enjoy super spicy food

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, it was a fun filled day. I don’t always love super spicy but once in a while it’s fun 😊

      1. I’m glad 🙂 How do you find life in kenya after living abroad? Please do a post on WP and a YouTube video. It will help your channel grow – “my culture shocks in Kenya after living in Canada for X years”

        1. That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely consider sharing that. It was quite odd at first when I moved back but now that I’m used to living in Kenya again I’m loving it.

          1. I’m glad you are loving it 🙂

  27. Great video again. I’m always happy to see you doing more YouTube!

    1. Thank you, if it wasn’t so time consuming I would love to post more often on YouTube 😞

      1. I’ve tried video editing here and there and it does take a long time to get even something short that looks good!

        1. Yup, it’s so time consuming which is the only thing that stops me from posting regularly on YouTube 😫

  28. I must say those vegan dishes looked pretty tasty.

    1. Thanks, they were really great.

  29. the food u eat always looks so appetizing im jealous but inspired to make my own foods again lol usually i just order takeout or ready to eat vegan lunches

    1. Aw thank you haha 😊 You absolutely should start making some of your own dishes. It’s quite funned you get to be creative with it.

  30. Such a chill and relaxing day!

    1. Thank you, the perks of freelancing lol!

  31. I truly envy that after-dinner schedule, and of course your cooking is always interesting😋

    1. Thanks so much, haha yeah there are perks of being a freelancer.

      1. You’re life-coach material btw😅
Oh and sorry for spamming your comments. I guess missing something does that.🙏🏾

  32. Good thing you did half a ghost pepper! I have seen people with a high spice tolerance brought to tears trying to eat a whole one

    1. Yeah, it was insanely spicy even from the smell so I knew I could never eat the whole thing. True, ghost peppers are no joke even when you have a high spice tolerance!

      1. I could tell by the smell too when I first tried a ghost pepper that I should try a bit of it. Chef vibes!

        1. Lol yes, your chef senses were probably tingling and telling you to be careful with it 😅
