Six Word Story:

Your felicitous words, nothing but lies.

About This Six Word Story:

Felicitous- pleasant, delightful.

I mentioned in my last SWS post that I wanted to expand my vocabulary again and so I would be sharing stories with new words I learn. This is one of those. Recently, I came across the word felicitous which can be used as a synonym for pleasant or delightful.

As for the six word story, it’s about those people that love to talk but never back up those words with actions. We all know someone like that. They promise you all kinds of things but in the end it’s never more than words. Unfortunately, I’ve come across quite a few people like that in my life. And thankfully, not many of them remain in my life.

I think sometimes people like that aren’t bad per se but they can be people pleasers. So they make big promises but can’t follow through. On the other hand, some of those kind of people are bad. And are huge narcissists. They lie to manipulate others and make promises knowing fully well that they won’t follow through.

Are you familiar with the word felicitous or is it new to you? Have you ever used felicitous before in your writing? Let me know in the comments located below. And do share your own six word story or stories in the comments below using the word felicitous or one that goes with this theme. Or just share a totally random SWS because I always love reading them.

  1. It’s a new word for me.

    1. That’s cool, we learnt it together I guess.

  2. Beautiful story, Pooja, like always 😊🥰🤗👏👏Wonderful

    1. Thanks so much 😊

      1. My pleasure 😊🥰🤗🙏🙏

  3. I am familiar with the word actually but I haven’t really used it before. You use Merriam Webster’s word of the day, don’t you? I sometimes see some words from there showing up in your work. 🙂

    1. Oh that’s interesting. Haha yes, I use the Merriam Webster’s app to find these 🙂

    Thanks for the Read !!!!

    take care

    1. Always a pleasure!

  5. I have heard the word Felicitous before. The story sounds sad though!

    1. I would say more realistic than sad. Yeah, this was a new one for me too so I thought I’d share it here!

  6. Feliz navidad! Feliz navidad! – Sing with me, all together! – this is the only usage of the word I can remember

    1. Lol, why did I sing that!

  7. I was not familiar with the word.
I use pertinent and apposite instead 🙂
But, yes this was a great learning experience 🙏🏻

You should do it more often, it’s a good practice for everyone. I’ve seen you always come with flamboyant words 😍

As for the story, yes we do have people like that in life. I call them parasite. I’ve learned that not to expect anything for anything.

Hey but, let’s talk about the word and story again. I think people fail to understand something here
That you are a genius writer. I mean, not only came up with a fresh word, you made a SWS with it and you then gave a great example to do the justice to what you’ve written 😯💝

You are not random, I mean you could have just given word randomly, and talked about some random stuff. But this is well designed 👏🏻

    1. I love the word pertinent, a very fun one to use.

Thanks so much. Yup those people are definitely parasites. Best to stay away. Thanks again 😊

  8. Felicitous – I learned this word years ago when I was in a phase of learning words from this vocabulary book. Apparently that project wasn’t successful because I haven’t used that word since then. I find I’m terrible at learning adjectives and better at learning technical terms that I need for work. LOL

    1. Lol yeah, I’m bad at learning new words too but that’s why I want to use them on the blog in the hope that they’ll stick. I mean that makes sense since those technical terms are more useful for you.

      1. That’s also true. I don’t do a lot of descriptive writing for work so learning fancier words falls to the wayside, but technical terms like software terms tends to stick (although I don’t really understand them) because I run across them so often.

  9. I’ve come across this word and know a few people like that. These people don’t earn the respect from me at least.

    1. Yes, people like that should be avoided.

      1. Very right.

  10. How apropos your words often depict. :p

    1. Now I’ve learned two new words 😊

  11. “each day my eyes open, pray”

    1. Lovely six word story, thanks for sharing it.

  12. Our school had a secretary who had a peculiar penchant for the word “felicitated.” Whenever he handed out congratulatory letters, you could bet your lunch money that “felicitated” would make a grand entrance. But here’s the twist – instead of making students feel like the heroes of the day, it somehow turned them into unintentional stars of misfortune. You’d be reveling in the glory of your achievements, and then *bam*, you’re “felicitated,” thrust into the unwelcome limelight like the star of an unexpected school drama. Laughter ensued not at the victories but at the quirky curse we believed accompanied that word. It was as if the universe conspired to turn every commendation into an unintended comedy. Oh, the curious curse of being “felicitated” at our school!💽📀

    1. That’s so funny, the irony that it would turn into something bad when the meaning is so sweet 😅

  13. “may we be freed of such…” 🤭😉

great SWS as always, Pooja. ✨

    1. Yes, may we all be freed for such people. Great six word addition. Thanks so much 😊

      1. most welcome 🤍

  14. good story Pooja! I didn’t know that word!

    1. Thank you, it was new to me too!

  15. Felicitous: Great word, haven’t used it. #SWS

I’m enjoying the words you’re highlighting in this feature, Pooja! Still waiting to hear more of that Kenyan slag, too. 😎 I hope you are well.

    1. *slang, not slag… gah! Damn typo.

      1. WP should really have a edit option for comments ☹️

        1. Exactly! 🙃

    2. Working on a SWS with Kenyan slang for next week! Yes, I’m well now and hope you are too 😊

      1. Cool! I am well, too, thanks!

  16. xeriscaping yielded zilch except hope, death.

    I have not used Felicitous.

One place I used to work at put a random word from the dictionary on our notice board each day.

    1. Xeriscaping is a new one for me. Oh fun, did anyone notice them new words on the board?

      1. We were challenged to guess what the word meant before it was revealed. Sometimes the guesses were very funny. The one that stuck in my juvenile mind was merkin. My guess for that one was, Merlin’s mischievous magic.

        1. That definitely sounds like a fun work activity. Lol, that’s so funny. I only learnt the word merkin because of a movie I watched as a teenager and I still chuckle.

  17. I once knew a girl called Felicity – which has that as its root. A nice word.

    1. Interesting, I didn’t know that’s where the name originated from.

  18. I’ve heard the word, Pooja, but I haven’t used it. 🙂 It’s great that you’re learning new words, good for all of us. 🩷

    1. Thanks so much, it’s always fun to learn something new 🙂

  19. Felicity belied her name with vengeance.

    1. Felicity sounds fun.

  20. This is a new word for me 😊.
Beautiful story as always, Pooja! ❤️🌹

    1. For me too, thanks so much! ❤️😊

      1. My pleasure! ♥️🌹

  21. That’s a great SWS! Would be a good opening line of a novel.
    No, never used it, ever!

    1. Thanks so much! This is your sign to use it haha.

  22. It’s an ouchy but apt story.

I am felicity with felicitous, felicitously.

    1. Haha thanks, I like your fun SWS too.

  23. I remember this word but never used it, and it is a great word to use poetically. Thank you for refreshing my memory, Pooja. 💖

    1. Thanks so much, my pleasure and take this as a sign to use the word haha 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja, and I bookmarked your post so I can remember to use the word! LOL💖

        1. Lol, that’s great I look forward to seeing how you use it! 😊

  24. This is a great story!!!!

    1. Thanks so much!

  25. I is a new word for me. I have never used it , nor heard of it before. I know a lot of people who talk but can’t back it up.

    1. It was new to me too. Yeah, a lot of people do that.

  26. Thanks for teaching me a new word. Here’s my six-word story using it: Positivity leads to a felicitous day.

    1. Glad you learnt this word and enjoyed your SWS- positivity is where its at.

  27. Definitely new to me.

    1. Me too, it’s fun to use though.

  28. Felictious lies are better than nothing 🤣😎🙃

    1. Haha agreed 😅

  29. I found the word some time back. It in itself is a pleasant word😅
Making promises and keeping them. I try to always do so but sometimes it’s not even in your hands anymore.

    1. True, but I think some people have a habit of not following through constantly. It’s quite a fun word ahah.

  30. I love the word felicitous and its derivatives. I used to have a cat named Felicity. And I love Shakespeare’s quote “Absent thee from felicity awhile. And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain”

    1. Oh wow, love that quote. And that’s so cool. I only recently learnt the name Felicity is derived from felicitous.

  31. You’re facetiousness though is quite pedantic

    1. Ooh, that’s a really good one.

  32. Great word and great story.

“He misses her felicitous laughter most.”

    1. Thanks so much and I like yours too. I don’t know why but I always prefer darker SWS’s.

      1. Same. I’m sure there’s a psychological reason (in my case at least) that I’d rather not know about. Lol.

        1. Lol mine too, I’m just going to pretend that’s not the case.

Raining inside looking outside is felicitous!

Leaving the car is not felicitous!

    Hahahahaha
    Pouring here!!! 🤗❤️

    1. Haha loved that! It’s pouring here too actually, it’s been raining for a few days now ☺️❤️
