Everything Good Must Come To An End

Everything good must come to an end

She thought as she walked home after work

Tonight was the night she had to make a tough decision

She was breaking up with her partner

He had not been around much recently

And she even saw him pick up a call from a random woman

She tried her best to not be too suspicious or paranoid

But she could not help it and read their messages

They spoke of some secret and she guessed what it was

The messages said they would meet tonight

At his apartment after six

She knew she could do better than a cheater

So she walked to his apartment after work

To confront the two of them

She took out the key he had so lovingly given her

Back when he was so romantic and involved

And opened the door to see candles and rose petals everywhere

He never did anything romantic like that for her

Even when she had asked him to a few weeks back

She kept walking to the living room where she heard some sounds

And there she saw her boyfriend on one knee looking right at her

And the woman from his phone playing violin in the background

Suddenly it all made sense

She said yes before he could even finish asking

And they lived happily ever after

  1. Happy Valentine’s Day Pooja – I hope you have a lovely day – remember that the most important relationship we have is with our self – so remember to send your self some big love today X

    1. Beautiful message.

Nothing should come above self love

      1. It’s the first cup to fill and then it fills everything around it 💞

        1. True true!

          Most important cup.
Some people may call it selfish.
          But it’s vital

    2. Happy Valentine’s Day and you’re so right- self love is important. I made myself some strawberry muffins today which was fun and also delicious.

      1. Yum! That sounds delicious.

        1. It was, they look a bit smushed but they taste so good.

  2. Happy Valentine’s Day, Pooja! Nonexistent here as well. 😄
I’ll be spending tonight with my short story, NTT submissions, and tomorrow, with my chiropractor in the morning, and school at night. In other words, just another day lol

    1. Happy Valentine’s Day! Lol have a great day even if you’re not doing anything special.

      1. Same to you, Pooja!
I’m getting my chiro adjustment, so that usually makes me feel decent. I
ll take it, I guess lol

        1. Oh good, hope you’re feeling better after your appointment.

          1. Yes indeed, My neck cracked like a mother 😄😄

            1. It’s so satisfying when that happens 😅

              1. Hell yeah it is! Back did some too, but the neck was loud as hell lol

                1. That must have been so satisfying, all the stress just leaves your body.

                  1. It definitely didn’t hurt, I’ll say that lol

  3. I didn’t see that ending coming – well done!

    1. Jim, so nice to see you back here! Thanks so much.

      1. Hi Pooja! I’m slowly but surely trying to return to the wonderful world of blogging!

        1. Oh yay, I’ve missed your posts so I’m excited to hear that!

  4. Thank god nobody died dammit 🫡

    A lovely poem. ❤️❤️

I don’t know why I hate this day. Not because I’m alone or something 😛
But because it’s more of a circus.
I don’t understand why there’s need to celebrate such irrelevant day and why people need specific day for something special. 🤷🏻

    1. Lol, for once murder was not on the table 😅

I get it, Valentine’s Day can be the worst. The day of love has become nothing more than a day to waste money and take cute pics that don’t show the real story.

      1. Bless you for not killing the dude 😛

        Here it’s also Vasant panchami

        Here’s a yellow flower 🌻

        1. We were just talking about Vasant Panchami cos my cousin was talking about it. Haha here’s a pink rose I think…🌷

          1. Wear yellow
            Eat yellow
            That’s what I did today

            1. Interesting. Why yellow?

              1. Yellow color represent the day.

Also represent devi Saraswati – goddess of wisdom
And yellow also represent arrival of spring

                1. Oh I see, really interesting.

                  1. You eat dhokla and smile!!

                    1. I will soon haha!

                    2. and thepla!!

                      khandvi

see Gujarati likes yellow and you are not eating anything.

                    3. I ate thepla a little while ago and hope to have khandvi soon!

          2. Right now having some allu k paranthe and dhaniya chutney

            1. Oh nice, I had chole.

              1. Ohh cool

I had that 2 days ago

  5. Cute story, cute ending! Happy Valentines Day! Be kind to yourself!

    1. Thank you! Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well!

  6. I don’t celebrate the holiday, so I’ll be working overtime and going about my day as normal tomorrow. 😆🤣😂 And that is quite all right with me.

    Very nice poem, Pooja!

    1. Haha same here, just a regular day for me 😅 Hope you have a great one and thanks!

      1. You’re welcome and thank you!

        1. You’re very welcome!

  7. Plans for Valentin’s day? A three-times divorced dude isn’t like to participate… 🤭🤭 I will be your valentine, Pooja. Yet, all things do indeed end. ❤️

    1. Lol, that’s fair 😅
Aw, thank you I’d love that ❤️🤗

      1. ❤️❤️ I’m back in Vegas, it’s good to be home.

        1. Oh good, yeah I can imagine! 😊

          1. 😊😊😊

  21. Yeah, no plans. I didn’t even write about the day. Chose to write about Ash Wednesday, also today. Unromantic.

    1. Yeah, it was just a regular day for me as well to be honest.

  22. I’m sorry, I meant to say I enjoyed reading your story, written by you maybe cynically and certainly read that way by me.

    1. Thank you, yes it did have cynical undertones…

  23. Those random women with violins!! Nice twist!!

  34. Happy valentines, Pooj. You must have said No to so many people😜
Loved your story. It’s hard not to jump to conclusions, but always important to delay acting on them. Wait till you catch them red handed, as the girl did in this one. 😅💚

    1. Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well. Hehe yes, I said no to zero whole people 😅
Thanks so much and so true haha 😝

  38. What a beautiful poem…amazing ending with a twist ✨

    1. Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it 😊

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja 💫

  39. I really like this. In the span of a few seconds, she goes from realistically wanting to break up to committing to be together for life. Emotions are a wild ride.

    1. Lol, they are. And the way our brain makes decisions is even crazier lol.

      1. Agreed. I guess it makes some sense, though. Emotional commitment often precedes the effort of making a relationship actually work.

        1. Yeah, that’s very true.

  40. What a nice surprise 🎁

    1. Thanks, so glad you enjoyed the story 😊

Your narrative takes an unexpected turn, adding layers of complexity and surprise to the story. The buildup of tension and suspicion leads the reader to anticipate a confrontation, only to discover a romantic proposal instead. The contrast between the initial doubts and the romantic setup creates a twist that engages the reader’s emotions. It’s a clever play on expectations and showcases the unpredictability of relationships. Well-crafted storytelling! 💔💍

    1. Thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed that twist at the end there.

        Welcome Pooja 🙏🏻

  42. I am trying to catch up on my emails. After reading this poem I couldn’t help but think of your short story you wrote, Dancing By The Ocean. Did this woman become that woman and find out what a jerk he really was? Just kidding. Nice romantic poem Pooja.

    1. Haha maybe so. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. Hope you were able to catch up on your emails.

  43. this is such a romantic poem Pooja! I enjoyed it! And the ending surprised me!

    1. Thank you so much!
