George Elliot Quote #2

Quote Of The Day

George Elliot Quote:

George Elliot Quote

What’s Up With Me?

I wanted to share this quote today because I needed to hear it myself. I’ve been in a bit of a slump recently. Just feeling very down and feeling like I’ve fumbled every opportunity I’ve gotten in life. I wish I had done things differently, done things better. And I wish I had the strength to be my true self.

I’m glad I stuck with blogging, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s one of the opportunities I didn’t fumble and look how far it got me. I have a job because of it.

Oh and happy March, it’s just begun but I already feel like it’ll be a tough month for me. But that’s life I guess, we have our ups and many downs.

Sorry about being a bit of a downer today. But that’s just how I’ve been feeling. And you guys know I always like to keep it real with you guys. If I’m feeling down I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I’m okay and that everything is great.

Edit:

Does anyone else’s Reader look different all of a sudden?

  1. I hope you feel better my friend and the month too improves for you !
Regrets are futile so better look at how for you’ve come and the good things you’ve achieved
They have changed the reader again!

    1. Thanks, feeling a bit better today actually 😊

Yes, that’s very true. It’s best not to focus on the negatives.

I’m finding the new Reader a bit hard to navigate but hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon.

      1. After the block editor was introduced, I’ve decided that there will be more changes and I should keep my attitude positive.

        1. Yeah, I’ve been seeing changes for quite a few years now and have learnt to just try and get used to them instead of fighting it.

          1. Exactly. They’ll keep on changing and we should adjust too

            1. Yeah, frankly I think that’s the only choice I have.

              1. Same here. Not only because I’m now used to it but also for the interaction that I haven’t seen elsewhere

                1. Same here, I can’t leave because it’s the best platform for interaction and people here are for the most part really nice.

                  1. So true.

  2. I love this quote, so true. Who would I have been?

    1. Thanks and yeah I think about that too. Who and where would we be if we had taken those chances?

  3. Yes, reader is different. LOL
You’re not the only to feel that way, Pooja. We’ve all gone through it at one point or another. I’m filling out job apps right now and thinking if I still had a job, I wouldn’t be dealing with this. But here we are 😄
Hang in there. It’ll get better! 😊😊

    1. The Reader ain’t it for me but that may just be because I was comfortable with the old one and hate change 😫

Urghhh nothing worse than filling out a million job apps. But don’t worry you’ve got this, just remember how bad it got at your old job. You deserve better than that!

      1. Yeah, I am not a fan of the new reader either. But, I guess we play the hand we’re dealt lol

        Thanks, Pooja! 🙏
Yes, it’s a hassle, but it is what it is eh? lol

        1. Yeah, if there’s one thing I’ve learnt about WP it’s that you just have to go with the changes and do your best 🤷🏻‍♀️

          1. The best part is how they are just there out of nowhere. 😄
I’m sure there was a post somewhere, but whatever lol

            1. They know no one reads that, why not send an email to their users? 😅

              1. Good point there. I know I don’t 🤣

                1. Yeah, me neither but if there was a specific email there’s a much better chance of people reading it 😫

                  1. It would definitely increase the odds lol

  4. Hey, we all have down days, and sometimes weeks, Pooja. The world would be a much better place if we all admitted to them instead of making out that we live these perfect lives. We’ve all missed opportunities and made wrong decisions. It’s called being human. We’re all on our own journey and who’s to say that, further down the track, those supposedly wrong decisions we’ve made don’t turn out to be right after all. Look forward, not back, because forward is where you are going. 💕

    1. So true, life is full of ups and downs for us all and that’s okay. Yeah, I also prefer it when people are transparent rather than if they lie and act like everything is okay.
Trying to do just that and focus on the future today 😊

  5. I’m a bit down too. I like to think there are tips and tricks to pull a person out of this, truth is, sometimes we just have to be down, flat, airless. Helps to know it won’t be this way forever but it is for now. I hope you feel better soon Pooja.

    1. Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling that way and yeah things always get better. It’s not always going to be bad. Hope you feel better soon too.

      1. I think it’s something in the air, or the stars, so many people stressed out right now Pooja. Hopefully it will all shift over soon

        1. Hopefully so.

  6. I hope it gets better for you! My weekend was strangely intense, does it mean that the week is going to be way nicer?

    1. Thanks! Ooh, well I hope so.

      1. Only hope never dies

        1. Yes, true. And sometimes all we have is hope.

  7. Comfortably numb is not the most pick-me-up mood music, but I get how Pink Floyd can be so lulling. Love the quote, but totally illogical (lol). Most importantly, I wouldn’t change a thang about you! Don’t mess with perfection and thanks for always making my days brighter!

    1. Comfortably numb is definitely a bit of a downer but I feel like it expresses how I was feeling really well lol. Thanks so much, that’s so sweet of you to say!!

  8. Great quote. On Mondays I seldom have a bounce in my steps but it’s okay anyway.
You will be fine as feelings come and go. ♥ 🇨🇦 🍁 .

    1. Thanks so much. True, there’s just something about Mondays that makes us feel a little more down. Yeah, I’m already feeling a little better today. Hope all is well with you 😊

      1. Good to hear and thanks all is well. The weather is good for March so far and Spring break coming up here.
        Take care, Pooja. 🙏.

        1. Oh good, have a lovely March and take care too 😊

  9. Hope you are feeling better soon.

    1. Thank you and I’m feeling a bit better today.

  10. Good quotation

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. Check out my products as well

        1. Will do.

  11. Love the quote
    Says the truth.

And that’s just life my friend. I feel the same from time and time again 😔

    Just life 🤷🏻
I will try to make my March better.

    You take care
    🤗
    You got this 🤗

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, we all have moments when we feel a bit down and worse than usual. It happens. Hope you have a wonderful March 🤗

      1. You too have a peaceful march my dear friend. 🤗

        Keep holding
        You got this
        Sending lots of love ❤️🥕🥕🥕🥕

        1. Keep the carrots away from me please lol 😂

          1. Carrots are important

            1. Not in my life… 🙅🏻‍♀️

  12. 🤔 Are you referring to the appearance of the Reader on the web version of WordPress?

Or are you referring to the way the Reader looks on Jetpack?

And, I truly hope that you feel better later on, Pooja.

    1. Thanks, I’m feeling a little better today.

I meant on the desktop version, I don’t use the app so not sure if things have also changed on there.

      1. 🙂 Yes, there were some subtle changes made to the desktop version of the Reader.

        1. Yes, mostly design changes.

  13. It is a great quote and a good inspiration to start new things. March will be busy for us. We are working on getting health insurance for our son and his girlfriend. There’s been complications. A clerical error caused the insurance company to cancel his health insurance. They think he has cancer but he doesn’t. Someone crossed the wrong box when he had his appendicitis. On a happy note, our niece Jessica is getting married to her fiancee Eric.

    1. Thanks so much. Oh no, hopefully you can get that sorted out and they can get their health insurance back. And congratulations to your niece, that’s really wonderful for her.

  14. I hope you are feeling better.

    The quote resonated with me.

We are winding down to our shutdown at work, so seemingly endless paperwork and inventory as part of a plan to keep us busy for the next couple weeks. I look forward to April as a new beginning for me, so maybe I can finally be who I might have been.

    1. I’m a bit better today and hope I’ll be fine by the end of the week. I just need to try to focus on the positive instead of the negative.

I hope you get your new beginning in April and get to become who you might have been.

  15. We all need a little pick me up. We can ride a high and have some lows. I had a bit of the same but I feel I know where exactly it is coming from.

    1. Yeah, we all have our highs and lows. Sorry you also experienced that but it’s great you know the source of it. Now you can work on it accordingly.

  16. Love this quote!

    1. Thank you!

      1. You’re welcome!

  17. Correct and worth noting. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much, glad you liked the post.

  18. WordPress keeps experimenting. It’s irritating to change from Discover to Subscriptions again and again to read followed blogs. There is no option to set the default option.

    1. It’s definitely annoying. I don’t see what the point of the changes even were. It didn’t make anything better.

  19. Movie “On the Waterfront” : “I coulda been a contender… I coulda been somebody…”; Dockworker Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando).
It’s really weird that after all these years hearing people refer to the quotation which I thought was very dramatic, I actually listened to it, and it’s done really badly with little emotion. Just a long speech explaining what was not shown.
Me? I coulda been Marlon Brando, I coulda BEEN somebody; yeah damn it, hey! You betrayed me… ya coulda been m’ brother — looked out for me. Hell, f…! I coulda been SOMEBODY
Anyway, some of those old movies are very mild in actuality compared to their reputation. George Elliot was actually Mary Ann Evans. So she couldn’t be Mary Ann, author.

    1. I only know that quotation because they mentioned it on another show I watch. I haven’t seen the original one by Marlon Brando.

Yeah I read about that and that Mary Ann Evans just used George Elliot as a pen name.

      1. Sorry. Never mind. I don’t know how to make chatter. I’m sorry you feel bad. Good luck.

        1. Oh no not at all! I thought your comment was quite interesting. I’m not that great at chatter either sorry.

  20. Changes were made to the Reader last week; an upgrade of some sort which caused a lot of glitches. I don’t care for it at all, but what can you do?! 🤣😂😆

    1. I got the upgrade last week and can already see three different glitches happening 😫 I really don’t care for it either but we’ll just have to get used to it. I literally don’t see the point of the changes though, just moving things from one place to another and changing the design a little seems so unnecessary 😒

      1. Exactly! I don’t see the point of it, either. But it’s not like they’re going to listen to us. 🤣😂😆

        1. Oh for sure, we just have to suck it up and get over it 🤷🏻‍♀️

  21. I woke up this morning and that bleeping reader was totally changed!!!! So WP continues to steal our content but now they are making it harder to see when we have new notifications. I’m ~this~ close to calling it quits on WP…

    1. Yeah, I know what you mean. And honestly, the updates are so unnecessary just a way to distract people from them stealing our content.

  22. I agree with George Elliot, it’s never too late. I’m glad you stuck with blogging too, the blogosphere wouldn’t be the same without you Pooja 🙂 Sorry to hear you’ve been a bit down, but don’t be too hard on yourself, you just have to ride the wave…..

We off to the Caribbean tomorrow for the month of March 😉 and so looking forward to it. It’s really odd tho’ cos I don’t have any internal physical sensation (due to my Transverse Myelitis) so I don’t get the flutter of feeling excited — I have to wait til I feel/think it in my head. It’s weird that I have to think I’m excited, rather than feel.
Hope you start to feel on the up soon x

    1. Thanks so much, so sweet of you to say that and so glad we met here thanks to blogging. I’ve been doing a bit better today and just trying hard to focus on the good 🙂

Oh wow, have lots of fun. Yeah, I can imagine it must feel a bit odd to have to physically think of your emotions.

  23. Beautiful quote 🤍

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  24. This is a wonderful quote, Pooja. I try not to look back because I feel what is meant to be is to be. Love Pink Floyd and ‘The Wall’.

So The Reader format is changed!? The only good thing about this is that my posts are finally showing up after being incognito for a month.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I always try to focus on the future but sometimes the past just catches up for a bit. I’m better now though.

Yeah, the design changed which is throwing me off a bit but I’ll get used to it. So glad your posts are showing up now, I wasn’t getting them on my Reader before either.

      1. The new design is throwing me off too, Pooja. My blog is still not in the mainstream feeder of the reader, only if you select a tag such as writing. Sigh.

        1. Yeah and when I search for your site none of your new posts come up. Only the one from two months ago and that’s it.

          1. I know! It’s a bummer. Though, if you search by tags my current posts are there. So frustrating.

            1. I’ll try that next time because the search bar is just refusing to show your newer posts.

A & J PEI Treasures/E Jean Simpson, BEd, BA, MA

Great quote. Hope that things improve for you soon.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m feeling better now and trying to focus on the positive.

  26. May the new month bring you lots of joy and smiles , Pooja…🌷 (as your shares bring us😉🤗…. your basement horrors might be overdue lol 😋)

Reader has changed twice this year already 🤦‍♀️

    take care🤍

    1. Thank you so much and wishing you the same for March 😊 Hehe thanks 😅

Yeah, it’s been changing all the time and it’s throwing me off lol 😫

      1. pleasure 💫

throwing off true….a different look and buttons moved around…to confusion with posts missing and hours in-between….scared to ask what next…🤦‍♀️

        1. It’s so annoying, my notifications started glitching and I couldn’t seen them unless I kept refreshing 😫 Hopefully, it’ll all fix itself over time…

          1. same here with the glitching … hopefully.
when you’ve had enough then you can tackle them on behalf of us too lol😋

            1. Lol maybe someday 😅

  27. I love this quote. I’m back from hiatus and have been searching for inspiration lately, thanks for sharing! I noticed the reader changed yesterday, I’ll be exploring it today, all the best to you!

    1. Thanks so much and so nice to see you back! Yeah, they changed the design yesterday and I’ve been exploring and trying to get used to it too. All the best to you as well!

  28. Great quote Pooja… I hope you feel inspired soon and more up than down! We all have those periods. It is never too late to change your life around…

    1. Thanks so much, I feel better today and am trying to focus on the positive!

      1. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷

  29. Love the quote! Don’t worry, Pooja! If life is in a downswing for you, it will soon turn up. Spring is on its way!

    1. Thanks! I agree, we all have downs but they don’t last forever.

  30. cheer up gudka
how else can you become gupta>
    tomorrow is gilmour s birthday!

    1. Haha true!

      1. blue moon. do some gilmour cos david is 78 and he can relate. he cowrites his songs with his wife polly. oh gosh! oh golly~

  31. Great quote! And I loveeee Comfortably Numb!

    1. Thank you and same, such a great song!

  32. Now that you mention it, I think my reader might look different. Only color-wise though, the posts look the same but I think the side bar wasn’t black before. I could be imagining it!

Sorry you’re not feeling as awesome as you truly are right now. You know it’s normal to occasionally fall into a slump, of course, so I don’t need to say something trivial like that. 😅 I’ve felt the same, like I missed so many opportunities (or actively ruined them) but you have correctly identified that you have actually found a great deal of success. I think it’s so impressive that you run a business and that your blog has such a following, not just of casual readers, but people who keep returning to engage with you. I don’t know how you do it without clickbait. Haha

That quote speaks to me because, especially now that I’m “old”, I often feel like my habits right now are what they will be for the rest of my life… even though that’s insane and I still change a lot year to year. But there are so many things I want to do or make a practice that I consistently let myself down on. I think that’s just how life is, though. 🤷‍♂️

Lately I’ve been listening to drum & bass mixes on Apple Music despite most of them not being very good lol. I mentioned on someone else’s comment on my blog that I’m finding it very difficult to be passionate about anything lately, even music. I used to spend hours listening to music and trying to find new, interesting artists. Now, I couldn’t care less. I need a blood transfusion from a 20 year old to get some hormones back, I think. 😅

    1. Yeah, the design is a little bit different and as someone who hates change it’s going to take a bit of getting used to 😫

Yeah, it happens. We all have times when we’re feeling a little down but I’m doing much better now and just trying to focus on the positive. Occasional clickbait helps lol. But yeah, it’s hard for me to believe sometimes that I’m running two successful business 😊

I want to change my lifestyle and habits for the same reason. I feel like your twenties and thirties will define what your health is like later on so you need to get your crap together in those years. It’s really incredibly difficult to change habits so don’t lose hope.

Yeah, music used to be a big part of my life too but it’s definitely gotten less so. Also, I used to read like 10 books a month and now I barely read 1-2. I was just telling my friend how were we so active as teens and sleep for like 2hrs and still be fine 😅

      1. I noticed it’s definitely different today because I couldn’t find the notifications button. Why is it on the left now? That’s the opposite of every website and app in the universe!

        1. The notifications button moving is throwing me off lol 😂 Especially because it still opens on the right side sometimes 😫

          1. Maybe it’s supposed to be on the right and it’s a bug in their CSS. It’s still on the right on every page except the reader.

            1. Maybe, sometimes it’s glitchy for a while so it’ll go to the right side eventually. Even on the Reader it still opens on my right side it’s just the bell is on the left side which is so weird.

      2. But ooh as a programmer I do like the new command palette (Ctrl + K)

        1. I hate it but that’s a me problem because I hate change, I used to find the other way easier lol.

          1. It is easier for most people, I’m sure, but I’m used to command palettes from programs like Visual Studio Code so it isn’t a big change for me. Will I actually USE it though? Probably not. I forgot Ctrl + K was even a thing until I read your reply. 😅

            1. Lol, that’s fair 😅

  33. I feel this post.. and I feel you Pooja G. We all have the occasional case of regrets, but I shall pray that this too passes by. You’re doing well. You’re doing something you’re passionate about. Stay the course my dear. Stay strong.

And it took forever for your blog to return to my feed. Geez. Ive missed you..🤗🙏💪

    1. Thanks so much, yeah we all have those down moments but I’m better now and trying to focus on the positive.

Urgh, that’s so annoying but so glad you can see my posts again 🤗

  34. Nice quote. I like your blog and writings, so keep up the good work and continue to fight the good fight.

    1. Thank you so much, really appreciate that.

  35. unless you get to that age where it’s too late….

    1. Yeah, I think it’s harder as you get older but never impossible.

  36. Hey, sorry to see you’re in a funk. I hope you feel better soon. Your blog is really a passion project, and you really add to the community all over WP. I’ve gotten to know quite a few other bloggers through your site.

The quote is great and so is “Comfortably Numb.” I’ve thought about blogging on that one but it feels like it would be an essay, that song’s so deep. Or at least that’s what I think about it. Take care.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I started the blog as a way to get my writing out there but in the end it turned into a lot more than that and I’m so grateful it did. I love our community here and glad you found some bloggers to connect with through my site.

True, I feel like “Comfortably Numb” is one of those songs that have so much meaning and just mean something different to each person.

  37. So many hugs your way, Pooj. Loved the quote. It’s something I always need for encouragement. Every road we take presents new opportunities. I’ll pray/attract for you 😅. Be well.

    1. Thanks so much and yes very much so 😊

  38. oh, Pooja do I ever understand the down days. I usually get that way in the dead of winter because the days are short and there isn’t much sun. Sometimes you just have to embrace it and let it run its course. We’ll put on country music and wallow for an evening then go to bed determined to have a better day tomorrow. I truly hope you are doing better now.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, the lack of sun can do that. It’s summer here but I think I’ve just been a bit burnt out.
I’ve been listening to more country music too, I feel like older country songs are perfect for that mood.
I’m better now and really hope you are too.

  39. Pooj – It’s up to you to make March what it could be!!

    1. Very true, I’m trying to be more positive!

  40. The reader has changed. I’m finding it hard to navigate.

I hope you feel better soon. It’s a temporary glitch because you are on your way to greatness.

    The quote is tops.

March takes us on to new things. Let’s hope we can keep up. I bless you. Xoxo

    1. Yeah, it’s become less user friendly which is annoying.

Thanks so much. I’m already feeling better. March is hopefully going to bring us some good things.

  41. May happiness, blessings, and gratitude always adorn your life Pooja🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    1. Thanks so much and wishing you the same 😊

  42. Nice post, thanks for sharing

    1. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

  43. Glad you shared your down moment! We all have those sometimes, it is good to keep it real! I admire you and am glad you feel able to be comfortable enough on your blog to do that! I try to do the same on mine! Xoxo

    1. Yes absolutely, we all have those moments and that’s okay! I’ve noticed you’re honest too which I really appreciate!
