I Can’t Believe I Made Her Cry…

So, I just wanted to give you a little update on how things are going with my book. I haven’t talked about it in a little while because it was with my editor. It obviously takes a couple of weeks to edit the whole thing and honestly I was getting pretty nervous about it. I assumed that it was taking a while to edit because it sucked and needed a lot of editing. Now, a normal person wouldn’t think that. But you forget, I’m not normal. I’m actually riddled with anxiety at all times. It’s fun… Anyway, a while back I received the edited version and there weren’t too many. Just minor edits. But she commented this on one of my poems and I can’t believe I made her cry!

I Can't Believe I Made Her Cry...

I was feeling a little insecure about my writing and overthinking everything. I was double guessing myself and this really was so touching. It was the motivated I needed. She also said some really sweet things about the book overall which meant the world to me.

So, yes I can’t believe I made her cry or that my words can touch someone so deeply but I’m so happy they did. As writers all we want is for our writing to make a difference, for it to impact someone. And when that happens it means the world to us.

That’s pretty much my update for now. I’m done with the edits and now the book is off to my proofreader. It really takes a village lol. Writing the book is just the first step towards publishing a book.

  20. Pooja! That’s awesome about your poem, and congrats on moving along with your book. IMO, if a poem can make someone cry or laugh, then your intent in writing it is successful. ❣️

    1. Thanks so much! I absolutely agree 💕

  21. I really enjoyed reading your narrative about your book. And I look forward to learning of its completion and release. As for making a reader cry–and a professional reader, so to say, at that–that’s really something, isn’t it? I would not think it’s a reaction you’d expect, even having written something moving. Once someone read a poem of mine–we were in a coffee shop or somewhere like that–and she cried. Such a suprise. Who’s going to be so impressed by our words, we mean, our own words? Well, congratulations, I believe.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m excited to publish it before the year ends.

It really is something, to know your words touched someone else so deeply is an incredible feeling. Wow, that’s great. She must have really been touched by your poem.

  22. I’m so grateful to you, Pooja <3 for taking us all on your journey … It's been an adventure, a roller coaster, and we're just getting to the good part! The best is yet to be and please never doubt your gifts! Congratulations and more to come ….

    1. Thanks so much, that’s so sweet of you to say! 😊

  23. I didn’t know you were writing a book. That’s so cool. I’m always feeling anxious and overthinking my writing too. I’m learning to embrace the setbacks cause writing your own book is so amazing. Keep up the great work, Pooja.

    1. Yes, it will be available as an Ebook too and thank you soooo much!

  26. Best wishes as you work on the book process.I’m sure it will be great.Hope to read it when it’s out. The comment from your editor was lovely too.Sometimes,we all need an extra push /nudge/compliment to know we’re heading in the right direction. You should be proud of yourself. 💕

    1. Thank you so much. True, sometimes we just need to hear something like that to give us a little more confidence 😊

  27. Good luck for the rest of the process!

        1. Absolutely, as writers we should always try to support other writers too.

    1. Thanks so much! Oh absolutely, it’s a lot of work but I think it’ll be worth it 😊

  33. It’s good that they’re taking their time to edit it. I’d be more worried if they had it back to you in 2 days. 😁 I look forward to reading it!

    1. Oh for sure, I would be worried if she didn’t take a while. I’m glad she was so thorough. Thank you! ☺️

  34. Have a shot of whiskey on me. Congrats!

    1. Thanks so much!

  35. This happened with one of my authors. It took so long for the book review from the review team that she asked me (her editor) if her writing was really bad and needed a lot of rewriting. But the issue was a backlog in books under review.

Congrats and great news for you, Pooja!

    1. Yeah, I think we tend to overthink ourselves but it’s not really about us.

      Thanks so much!
