Quote Of The Day

Carol Burnett Quote:

Carol Burnett Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I spent yesterday afternoon watching Little Miss Sunshine. Well, rewatching it. Such a fantastic movie. If you haven’t seen it already, I would so recommend it.

I’ve been out most of today so not much has been going on with me. Before that, I was mostly home napping lol. Oh, and I’ve been watching this show called A Murder At The End Of The World. So far, it’s amazing. I’ll write a review when I’m done.

I’m going out after quite a while today and y’all it’s still so hot in Kenya. Like I am turning into a baked potato out here. And still somehow unable to get a freaking tan. I used to be so nice and tan when I was a teenager. But I’m slowly starting to look like a vampire these days.

I picked this Carol Burnett quote because sometimes I come really close to giving up on my dream. I almost shut down this blog, my social pages and disappeared into the night without leaving a trace. I’m so glad I didn’t though. Like SO glad. Anyway, sometimes I just need a little reminder to not let go of my dreams and this quote is it. This is mine (and your) reminder to hold on tightly to our dreams.

  1. It’s a good quotation, and I’m delighted you kept the blog and all. Early in her career, Carol Burnett starred in a TV production of Once Upon a Mattress. She was physical and funny. From all we know of her career, she did not let go. Sorry about the heat in Kenya. I wonder if Canada and Kenya compare much.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m glad I kept the blog too, where would I be without it. I don’t know too much about her but I’ve seen some clips on YouTube and she does sound very amusing.
Oh it’s not bad at all compared to Canada. It’s only like what the start of summer/end of spring is like. But for Kenya that’s really hot because it’s always really cool weather here.

So glad you didn’t too. Also Little Miss Sunshine is fantastic. 🙂

    1. Thanks and yeah that movie is so good, genuinely one of my favourites.

  3. Great quote. It’s so important for mental health to have dreams and goals. It snowed here this afternoon. Some warmth would be nice. Lol

    1. Thanks so much. Absolutely, I think our dreams and goals are what keep us going. I would be so happy if it snowed here- if only we could exchange weather for a little bit lol.

  4. If you were to up and disappear, I’d stop reading and commenting on your blog. Just saying… 😉

    1. Lol that’s fair 😅

  5. I love little Miss Sunshine, what a great movie!

You have so many people loving your posts, if you feel like giving it all up, just step away for a bit, figure put what you need, i.e. more sleep, food, tea, some human contact, a little therapy… counseling or massage, and just hang out quietly.

When we most feel lime doing something drastic, that’s usually the time we actually shouldn’t! The thing we’re seeking to be drastic with, often isn’t the actual problem!

When we can figure out the source of our overwhelm, we can then find our way out! 😉🫠

    1. Such a fantastic movie, so funny but so real too!

Thank you. Fortunately, it’s been quite a while since I thought about giving up blogging. Now that I have a better schedule and routine it’s pretty easy to manage. Will still be going for a massage soon though lol.

Yeah, absolutely. I think drastic actions are just a way to run away from our problems!

  6. I’m glad you decided not to close up shop. I would have had to launch that rescue operation if you did that. 😉
Not much up here. I’ll be working on hiring process and on-boarding once I get my official offer from the new job.

    1. Thanks so much. Lol, don’t rescue me if I’m abducted by aliens I’m find with moving to a different planet 😅
Ah, so exciting- really happy about your progress 😃

      1. Well, then. I guess we’ll leave you where you are then. Can we at least come visit? 😄

        1. Of course, feel free to visit on whatever random planet I’m moved to 😅

          1. OK, cool. We’ll see you there then! 😄

              1. 👽👽

  7. Love Carol Burnett!!! We’re supposed glad you didn’t quit either! What would I do without my Pooja?!!!!

    1. Thank you, I don’t know what I’d do without all of you either!

  8. Never shut down your blog Pooja. Don’t trust moods they are fickle things – you have put too much work and energy into your blog to simply give up. Keep going x

    1. Thanks so much. Absolutely, I think sometimes it’s just my anxiety taking over and I know not to listen to her.

  9. It’s a great quote, reminds us to persevere toward what we want to become. Glad you hung onto your dream. And I’m liking the “what I’ve been listening to this week.” As a music geek, that really speaks to me. 😊

As for me this week is really busy. Trying to clean up after a renovation, catch up on blog-reading, and I’m judging in a professional competition, and still make time to get miles on my bike.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the quote. I’m so glad to hear that- I picked a Canadian band from Ontario this week for the music!

We’re just starting some renovation and not really looking forward to it. But glad yours is done. Oh nice have fun as a judge and with biking.

      Have a great week too!

      1. Yes, a great band!

The big part of the reno is done, but there’s some patching of holes and painting to do. Always something with a nearly 120-year-old home but we love the place.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy the results!

        1. Oh yeah, with older homes there’s more work to be done. But so glad you love your home, I actually prefer older ones. They’re built so well.

  10. Tht is a great motivational quote, Pooja. 💕

    1. Thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it 😊

  11. We get to work lots of overtime to try and get everything packed up in time before our deadline. I am looking forward to the 28th when everything should be done.

So glad you have not given up on your dream.

I loved the quote. I love Carol Burnett, her show made me laugh so hard when I was a kid.

This upbeat video should get you dancing or your toe tapping, lol : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkekqVPIc2M

    1. Thanks for sharing the video, will definitely check it out.

I’ve seen clips of Carol Burnett on YT and she’s definitely funny.

Oh nice, just a few days left till you’re done.

  12. I love the quote, Carol Burnett is a treasure! I have considered shutting my blog a few times, Pooj, it takes a lot of my time but I enjoy sharing my photography. I think you are a cute baked potato! Your weather will cool down as the weeks past, try a garden hose, it helps. I take a cool shower during our 100-115 degree summers.

    1. She is, I watch her clips on YT sometimes and she’s so amusing! Yeah, I think most bloggers have considered shutting down their blog. But I’m so glad you didn’t, you’d be very missed.
I’ve just been eating lots of ice cream- that helps too lol 😂

      1. I miss ice cream. I’m type 2 diabetic. I would miss my friends on WP so the blog stays open. Same with IG but the way IG is today it’s tough because they have blocked my ability to comment many times and I never ever leave bad comments.

        1. Yeah, I guess due to health reasons you have to have a specific diet. Urgh, don’t get me started on IG, it’s been annoying me these days too.

          1. I’m afraid to make a comment on IG anymore. They removed two of my comments yesterday and didn’t say why. My comments are never rude! I’m still there because of the friends. Otherwise, IG sucks!

            1. That’s why I stopped posting on IG and using it for the most part. They kept blocking me too and it just got too annoying. Yeah, I can’t believe they blocked you for leaving emojis when people straight up leave spam comments and nothing happens to them.

              1. I noticed you aren’t on there anymore, Pooja. Bummer but I don’t blame you. I am very slowly heading for the exit too, Pooja. One or two more times being blocked from leaving NICE comments might just have me saying good by to a lot of friends on that platform. It is terribly mismanaged!

                1. Yeah, I just couldn’t deal with IG anymore. There’s nothing left there for me. So badly mismanaged!

                  1. It’s so ridiculous! I wonder if the next comment I make will get me banned from commenting for a week. 🤬🤬

                    1. Or permanently, they do that sometimes 😡

                    2. Right, I read the page that says you are not in danger of loosing access to your account yet in so many words. They abuse us then threaten us. Why am I still there!!

                    3. They really do abuse the power they have over us!

                    4. Absolutely, it’s censorship. 🤬

  13. Pooja, I like what Kate said. You can always “go on a sabbatical” and leave it for a while. Just let us know so we don’t worry 😉

Maybe you need to reconsider your reason(s) for blogging. Is there a way you can focus your efforts on 1 or 2 things to suit your expectations better?

Loved Carol Burnett. The way Harvey Korman and Tim Conway could barely hold it together in certain skits made our family lol. Good stuff 😎❤️

    1. Yeah, I think breaks definitely help. But thankfully, I’ve had a better routine and schedule so blogging is working well for me for now. Will definitely let you know if I take a break, I hate when people just disappear and can’t do that to you guys lol 😂

I watch Carol Burnett clips on YT and it’s quite amusing. Thanks! ☺️❤️

  14. I think this is a new adjective – how hot was it? It was baked potato hot.

    1. Lol, let’s hope I started a trend.

      1. Baked potato hot summer days!

        1. That’s me, lol!

  15. Great quotes, I really like them. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much, so glad to hear that.

  16. My blog is lagging, but still there. I’m glad you’re still here.

    1. I’m glad you’re still here too.

  17. What a coincidence, I am watching the Carol Burnett show on Prime 😀

As for deleting the blog, I am glad you didn’t. I just came back after taking a break from WP (didn’t visit my blog, or anyone elses and uninstalled the jetpack app on my phone) and it was good for me. I still had posts scheduled, but I just took a break from the social side. It was, not quite refreshing, good for me. I feel like I can continue fighting WP for another couple of months now…

    1. Yeah, I think sometimes we just need to take. step back instead of making a sudden decision. I’m glad you decided to stick around, I would miss your posts if you left. Don’t let WP get you down, we’ve got to be strong and fight them.

  18. I love Carol Burnett!
    Great quotes, Pooja.
    I’m glad you’re still here. 💕💐

    1. Thanks so much and so glad you enjoyed the quote 😊💕

  19. Nice quote. A Murder at The End Of the World sounds really good. It’s so damn hot though. We are averaging at 34C where I am. You actually have some vampiric vibe about you. A mixture of a couple of famous characters I dare not mention out loud 😅

    1. Thanks so much. That show is so good, would so recommend it. I watched The Fall Of The House Of Usher btw, absolutely loved it. Disturbing, but great 😀 It’s about 30C here and I’m hating it, don’t even feel like leaving the house these days 😭

      1. I’m stuck with netflix while upcountry. Only time I can get other shows is when I go to kampala. I’ll be sure to get the murder at world’s end when I travel back for the Easter break.💕💜🌼

        1. Ooh I see, it’s the same in Kenya but since I’m living in Nairobi I’m okay.

  20. Carol Burnett’s quote is one to live by! I am glad you didn’t give up on your blog. I thought about giving up my blog, as well, but I would miss the WP community too much. ❣️

    1. Absolutely, one of my favourite quotes. Thanks so much, I’m glad you decided to stay too. The community is what keeps most of us here I think.

  21. I … LOVE … that movie. I saw it in theaters a few centuries ago and at the time I hadn’t seen anything that was simultaneously hilarious and super dark. It’s more common now, many years later, but that was one of the first.

It’s funny that you say you can’t tan but compared to me you look like you’ve been in the sun for months. 😅 Obviously we have wildly different base skin tones so it’s just what we’re used to. My skin only has two states, clear and red (a friend of mine used to have an Indian roommate who referred to white people as “cleary” hahah).

    1. That movie is so fantastic, I watched it as a kid and watching it as an adult made me enjoy it even more.

Lol yeah, I’ll never be white people pale but for an Indian I’m getting to that colour where I’m considered light skin and it’s not for me. I like a little healthy tan 😅

  22. Right before I saw your post with that Carol Burnett Quote, I went over to my settings and just stared at my screen with a massive urge to just click that button and make my blog private, and really contemplate quitting. (For reasons involving a broader context that is too long to get into here) So thank you truly Pooj! It sure sounds like I needed to see this today. 💖

    1. I’m so glad you didn’t go through with it, I would have really missed you and your posts 💕

      1. I want you to know that I truly appreciate you for saying that! 🥺💕

  23. I think you are a vampire 🦹🏻‍♀️

You are not ageing much and getting pretty daily.
But than a vampire can’t go out, so you are a hybrid or something 😛

    Oh it will get hotter.
    It’s just a starting.
    Loved the quote

    1. Lol I wish I was a vampire but alas I’m only human 😫

True, the weather is just getting worse.

  24. I like that quote. I agree with it. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much and have a great week too.

  25. Love the quote and I did see Littel Miss Sunshine.

    1. Oh nice, love that movie.

  26. Carol Burnett found a winning philosophy that worked for her. Many people give up their dreams (or sabotage them) too soon but I suppose some others may make the mistake of not being flexible enough to adjust their dreams as they learn and grow into wiser versions of themselves.

    1. I think adjusting them is the main thing, you have to dream but be flexible if it doesn’t work out.

  27. so glad you didn’t shut your blog down! How hot is Kenya! I’ve seen little miss sunshine, and I loved it!

    1. Thank you so much, yesss that movie is amazing!

  28. Loved that quote and loved Carol Burnett, A funny and great lady. Sorry it is so hot in Kenya but shouldn’t autumn start making it cooler? It is spring here in the US and I’m in Florida and that means that when the summer comes I will be the one feeling like a baked potato. Our summers are brutally hot. Keep up the good fight and hold on to your dreams. That is the best any of us can do and for an introvert like me my writing, blogging, and poetry are what keep me going and enjoying life online,

    1. Thanks so much. We usually only have two seasons in Kenya, rainy and dry. At the moment it should be rainy but it’s still extremely hot. I’m hoping it cools down soon.
Oh yeah, I’ve heard summers in Florida are particularly hot. Hope it’s not too bad this year.
Thank you, I feel the same way. I’m very introverted and quiet too so writing is my main form of expression.

  29. wonderful reminder through this quote, Pooja .
and keep coming back to it to remind yourself too🤗🤍

    1. Thanks so much 🤗 I will do just that 💕

      1. most welcome 🌷🤗🤍

  30. ah ha, the Tragically Hip!……me it’s Courage is always on my playlist!

    1. I absolutely love The Tragically Hip and Courage is another one of my favourites by them.

  31. Well I love Carol Burnett.. her show was a rerun staple when I was growing up. She is hilarious and super talented.
I’m glad you never gave up on your dreams Pooja. That’s motivation for me to keep pressing on. 🙏👏👏

    1. Yes, I’ve only seen bits of it on YouTube but definitely very funny.
Thanks so much, yes never give up on things you love- that’s what I’ve learnt 😊

      1. Amen to that. 💜

Nice quote! Glad you’re keeping things going!

    1. Thanks so much!

  33. Carol Burnett had a comedy show on TV long ago and she was hilarious.

    1. Yeah, I’ve seen clips of it and it sounds great.

  34. Love the quote, Carol Burnett, and Lil Miss Sunshine !! It’s called a Lunar tan (lol) !! And I’d be heartbroken if I didn’t get to “see” you on WP !!

    1. Thanks so much! Don’t worry I’m here to stay lol!

  35. Don’t grab your dreams…..follow them 🥰

    1. Good advice 👌🏽

  36. well if you can’t tan, review murder mysteries, almost left socials into the night you must be turning into a vampire.. lol love the quote and song! Dream it, Do it , Make it Happen.. 🥂👏❣️❣️

    1. Hehe I think I am turning into a vampire 😅 I’m sharing a murder mystery review tonight haha!

  37. Great quote Pooja! At times grabbing the dream is a privilege or opportunity, but one thing I surely believe is if you persevere and you are determined to fulfill the dream, you will bring yourself closer to fulfillment…and, not to sound pessimistic 😉 but at times in the process of the fulfillment of the dream you might even realize that the dream was an illusion or something with which you might no longer relate…

    1. That is so true, I think our dreams change over time and that’s totally okay. Thanks for your wonderful comment 😊
