Mark Twain Quote

Quote Of The Day

Mark Twain Quote:

Mark Twain Quote

What’s Up With Me?

A lot is up with me recently. I’ve been working on my second book since I’m done with the first one and it’s going well, if I continue at the pace I’m going, it should be done in a few months. Some of my cousins are lowkey beefing with one another and it’s so entertaining. It all started with a Netflix password dispute and it escalated so fast. I’m going to keep the details to myself in case any of them are reading this but yeah. It’s so funny to me.

It’s been raining a lot in Nairobi which is causing some flooding which sucks but I do love listening to the rain while falling asleep. I don’t know why but I always get extra sleepy when it rains.

This week has had some ups and downs when it comes to mental health but I’m feeling okay for now. And I’ll see my therapist soon which I’m happy about.

I’ve also been thinking about interviewing bloggers for my podcast (Lifesfinepodcast). What do you guys think of that idea and would any of you be interested? It would only be like a 15-20 minute chat/interview. Let me know if you are!

What I’m Listening To This Week:

Trigger Warming: Contains references to depression, suicide etc.

What are your thoughts on this Mark Twain quote? How was last week for you? Any fun plans for this week? Let me know in the comments because I would love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Good luck getting people on your podcast. I hope gives them a good boost and makes an interesting podcast for you 🙂

    1. I’m down. Let’s do it!👍

      1. I’ll post about the podcast in a bit and you can signup to be a part of it!

    2. Thanks so much, yeah I think it’ll be a great way to get other blogs out there and have new topics for each podcast. It’s like a win-win. 🙂

  2. Pooja, you are such an unfailing light of optimism in a world of negativity that I really don’t know how my days without your input would go. You rawk.

Love the Mark Twain … would love to hear from other subscribers when and how that second date came for them. That’s key.

Thx for the update, Pooja. Can’t believe how green everything is in Kenya! 😎👍

    1. Thanks so much, that means so much to hear. I’m so glad I can do that for my readers.

For me, the second date was when I started writing. I knew what I was born to do.

Thanks, yes it’s green here all year around 😀

  3. The sounds of rain is amazing at bedtime… so relaxing (as long as it’s not flooding badly!)

I like the quote! The second date I think is open to interpretation but I think it is meant to refer to when we find our purpose in life which many believe is the reason we are put here. Great news about the progress on your book. Not so great about the mental health stuff though it’s good you are keeping on top of that. I hope the rest of the week is good for you!

    1. Yeah, I hate the flooding but the rain sound is great!

Thanks so much. Yes, I think of it that way too. It’s when you find your purpose and your reason to keep going.

  4. I love the quote, Pooja! I think some folks never get the answer to the second day. I hope you can find people to be in your podcast, Pooja. 😊

    1. Thank you! I hope so too, it would be fun to chat with other bloggers on the podcast 😊

Love the Mark Twain quote! It’s got forward momentum! 🙂 As always I’m wishing you very good luck with all your projects!

    1. Same here, I really love the quote. Thanks so much! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much 🙂

  6. Rain sound is peaceful actually 🙂

    Here it’s humid 🥵

    Eagerly waiting for your podcast.

    You please take care 🤗

    1. Yes, it’s so calming it helps me fall asleep better 🙂

Thanks so much and take care too 🤗

  7. great quote, and good luck with your book!

    1. Thanks so much!

  8. I’m still trying to figure out the why. I obviously know how/why I’m born, but it doesn’t explain my purpose on earth.

    1. That’s okay, it takes a while to figure out the why. At least in my experience. It wasn’t till my late twenties that I figured out the why.

  9. Kenya was in the news about the floods and I was wondering how that affected you. We are close to a drought here. The lowest water levels in 12 years. June is usually our wet month, so we should get some good rain levels by then.
I love the Mark Twain quote. He had a treasure trove of wit and humor that he left as a legacy.
Glad to hear you are working on your second book. The podcast sounds like it will be interesting.
After reading how busy you are I need to take a nap now.

    1. It’s bad in my area, lots of flooding. Someone got swept in the floods for kilometres. But hopefully the weather will get better soon.

Yes, he’s one of my absolute favourite writers. He was so brilliant, quick and witty.

Thank you. Haha yes, go take a nap and relax now.

  10. I did not realize that you wrote a book

    1. It’s not published yet but hopefully it will be very soon. Maybe in a few weeks or so.

  11. Hey Pooja! Good luck with your book and in negotiating the waves of positivity and negativity along the ups and downs of life…I love the quote as indeed it is a significant day to know, understand, and acknowledge your purpose in life. And the day we were born, a day that we often do not think about…is surely a day that set in motion a domino effect of occurrences..so we mean something…our existence matters in the bigger landscape of things…

    1. Thank you! That’s so true, we don’t think about the day we’re born much but it’s really the starting of it all.

  12. That’s a great Twain quote. A lot of people never have that 2nd day. It’s funny (maybe that’s not the right word) that this quote juxtaposes with you writing about starting your second book. Maybe *you* have had that second day? If so that’s exciting.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s true, some people never have that second day which is sad. Yeah, for me I’ve found my purpose with writing. I love it and I know it’s what I’m meant to do.

      1. You’re welcome!

That’s fantastic. Knowing what you want to do when you’re still young is such an advantage. Did you have a big “ah ha” moment or have you always just kind of innately known?

        1. I sort of knew but after I finished university I was very lost. But when I started writing again it just felt right and was one of those “ah ha” moments for sure.

          1. That’s really cool.

            1. Thanks. Do you think you’ve found your purpose? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.

              1. You’re welcome!

As for me, the answer is yes, but it’s kind of a tricky (and long) answer to give b/c it’s not really one purpose, or an easy to define list of purposes. I have a strong sense of duty/purpose to my family (to love, to teach, to provide, etc.) I’m driven to that goal, but the manner of how that gets done changes and is changing a lot for me over time. With my blindness getting worse, I think one of my purposes is to carry the weight of that in a positive way. I’ve also made an effort to make myself wiser, and that’s ramped up a lot over the last few years.

Throughout my life, I have always returned back to writing. It’s the way I connect with myself most fully. It’s hard to say it’s my purpose though b/c it’s never been the thing I consistently do. That said, I have always felt like I’m being prepared for some big writing project down the road. When it reaches me, I intend to be ready.

                1. Those are wonderful purposes. I used to feel that way about writing because I didn’t stick with any of the writing I started but this time feels different.

                  1. I’m looking forward to reading your book when I get a chance!

                    1. Thank you so much, it’s going to come out at the end of June and I would be really happy if you read it!

  13. Oh my gosh, you are on a roll with your books!! Keep going.

    1. I’m in a great space for writing right now and loving it! Thanks.

      1. That’s great to hear! It’s such a a good feeling.

  14. One of my favourite quotes by Mark.
I wish you all the best in your endeavours. 🙏 🌸.

    1. He has a lot of brilliant ones but this one is great. Thanks so much 😊

  15. Good luck on your podcast 🍀

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

  16. That Mark Twain quote is funny. But much truth to it. Congrats on the progress you’re making on your second book. 👏👏 I like the idea of interviewing other bloggers for your podcast. Infact, it’s a great idea. I wanna tell you, that I’m proud of you for pressing through the mood swings. I think it’s healthy to acknowledge when you’re in a not so good place mentally.
    💜💜

    1. Yeah, he had a way of saying the truth with a humorous spin. Thank you so much. I think it would be very fun to chat with other bloggers on the podcast. Absolutely, we all have ups and downs and that’s okay. As long as we process the negative stuff properly. 💕

      1. Keep us posted on the blog development. I think you’d make a wonderful host. 🙏

        1. Thanks and will do 😊

  17. I don’t think I have found my why yet . . .
If you are writing your second book, you have a lot to be proud of. Congratulations! You are truly an inspiration. 💕📚

    1. That’s okay, I think it takes a long time to find your why. Thanks so much, I’m very proud of my writing progress. I think you’ll like my second book as it’s a thriller/murder mystery 😊

      1. I hope to get to read it some day! 💕📚

  18. Love this quote. I hope you’re interviewing series takes off.

    1. Thank you so much, I hope so too. It’ll be a good way for bloggers to get to a new audience and for me to have interesting content 😊

      1. Very true. I hope this helps you and your interviewee

        1. Thanks so much.

          1. You’re welcome

  19. True, great quote from a humorist and essayist that he was. Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, he was a very smart and interesting person.

  20. lovely quote shared…
and great that all’s going well with your books, Pooja … wishing you much success there🌷🤍💫

    1. Thanks so much. I very much appreciate your kind wishes 😊💕

      1. most welcome 🌷🤍

  21. You mean you ever find out why?
I guess writing is my why.
That podcast sounds cool! Love them.

    1. Writing is my why too!

  22. I’m still waiting for the second day…

    1. Don’t worry too much about it, you’ll find your purpose eventually. And even if you don’t, just focus on living your best life.

  23. Relatives beefing is what keeps me off Facebook. It’s always funny but simultaneously frustrating that family members can behave so childishly.

I think interviewing people on your podcast is a great idea! I was the editor for a friend’s podcast a long time ago and the interviews were always the most fun both for us and the audience. Plus it keeps you yourself engaged because you’re not doing the same thing every time.

    1. Usually, adults beefing annoys me but if I’m being honest these cousins had it coming. They’ve been pissing me off for a while now. They sort of go out of their way to be mean to us which is so weird to me because like why even do that lol.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it’ll be fun for the listeners if I have someone new on each week plus people. get to talk about their blogs and get them out there.

      1. I think that’s a sign of depression in people because it’s what I used to do before I got sober. I’d pick fights or say passive aggressive stuff to people who were supposedly my friends all the time, lol. There’s no reason to do that if you’re not miserable and just trying to spread it around!

        1. I don’t think they’re depressed but are definitely miserable people, more like very petty about stuff and very unhappy about other peoples happiness. But I’ve learnt to just ignore them. But the occasionally drama can be entertaining for me 😅

  24. For the past two weeks, it’s been raining nonstop, and it’s been really tough. Every day, we’re hearing about someone drowning and losing their life. It’s just heartbreaking. The rain used to be calming, but now it feels heavy with sorrow. It’s like the sadness is everywhere, weighing us down.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear that, it’s similar here.

  25. I concur with what the quote says. I feel what makes the difference in our lives is whether or how soon we find out whey we were born. Some of us know it instantly, while others take time or forever to know our purpose in life. I am a christian so I’ll say may God help us to know our true purpose sooner than later.

I like the idea of interviewing fellow bloggers it would be nice to hear how some of us sound 🙂

    1. Yes, I agree with you. Once we know our purpose, life gets much easier and better for us.

Thanks so much, I think so too. Plus, bloggers have a lot in common so the conversations would be interesting 🙂

  26. I’m not a podcast listener but would be interested in yours, Pooja. The quote is interesting. I used to like Mark Twain until I learned of his views on slavery. The quote, however, is an important one.

    1. Thank you, that really means a lot to me. Oh no, I haven’t heard about his views on slavery but that’s disappointing.

  27. The quote is spot on, Pooja! I am not a podcast person but I will listen to yours, and, I think it is a great idea to interview bloggers and get their work out there.

Rainy days are calming but like anything else, anything excessive becomes troubling.

    1. Thanks so much! I really appreciate your support. I think it would be great for bloggers to get their work out there plus it would be interesting for my audience to meet a new blogger each week. And I don’t think there are a lot of podcasts that do something like this so it would be new and fun.

Exactly, the excessive rainfall is the issue.

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja!

  28. Pooja <3 … I saw about the floods, and it makes me nervous … Perfect quote and I love the rain too! You are burning the candle at both ends again and need your rest, and at the same time … so excited for your work! Love to you ~ Always !!!!!

    1. Yes, it’s a sad situation with the flooding but hopefully things will improve. Thanks so much, love you too! 💕

  29. This is a great quote. Some people search their entire lives to figure out the why. I’m buried in cleaning and prep for a huge family reunion here on the farm. Once I get thru that in mid-summer, I would love to chat on your podcast.

    1. That’s true, quite a few people spend their lives trying to find their purpose. And sadly, some never do. I can imagine that must be a lot of work but we can chat anytime, I’ll share a sign up form soon and you can be a part of the podcast whenever it’s convenient for you.

  30. Rain rain here too
Every day to make me blue
    Long weeks full of nothing
Watch the rain, dream of something

    1. Same here.

  31. I love the Twain quote. One of his best. Yes I’d be interested in being interviewed, but I’m just an idiot. I’ll answer any questions you like, bu that doesn’t mean I’ll be serious about it. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Good, I want unserious people on the podcast 😅

  32. Excellent observation.

    1. Thank you.

  33. It stopped raining here for almost 3 days now, and the sun is hot as hell in the afternoon, the sad part is the cold at night. I struggle alot coz am a night owl, I’m so productive at night. But i love it though coz we were tired if the rain.

It’s sad hearing your cousins beefing over little things, not a big deal they’ll get through it. That’s how respect comes sometimes, not crossing each other’s lines. Also interviewing fellow bloggers sounds good and goodluck on finishing your books. Hope you stay positive, I too I’ve been struggling with the feelings of not having motivation, and burnout if that’s how they call it. I’ve lots of things and ideas, I’m taking it slow hopefully I’ll get over it soon. It happens alot and trying to fight it worsens the situation.
Anyways all the best and loved the quote, I’ve heard it multiple times, atleast am an my way of finding my why lol.

    1. I’m glad it stopped raining for you guys, although I love the rain I think anything in excess is an issue.

Yeah, it’s a silly argument nothing serious.

I’m sorry to hear that, I’ve been feeling the same way. Hopefully we’ll both feel better soon. I’m sure you’ll find your why when the time is right.

  34. Oh, rainy days are the sleepy ones, I agree. Also you”ve written a book 🥺 I would love to read it if possible. Also would be interested in listening to your podcasts ❤️ Hope you have a good day!

    1. Yup, I love to sleep in the rain 🌧️ Thank you, I hope to publish it soon. Hope you have a good day too!

A & J PEI Treasures/E Jean Simpson, BEd, BA, MA

Nice quote. Glad things are getting better.

    1. Thank you so much.

  36. I don’t remember the day I was born and still don’t know why, so I still have something to look forward to!

    1. Yes, you have a lot to look forward to!

  37. It’s so important to find a purpose in life.

    1. Yes, it really enhances your life to have a purpose.

  38. Interviewing bloggers sounds interesting

    1. Thank you, I’m sure it will be very interesting and a lot of fun.

  39. Hey Pooja, sorry to hear about changes in your mental health and hope things have returned to ‘normal’ for you now. I’d love to be part of your Podcast interview series 🙂

    1. Thank you, I’m feeling okay now. I’m excited to have you on my podcast 🙂

  40. This Quote appears deceptively simple, yet its meaning transcends human comprehension… However, through awakening, one may attain a glimpse of its potentially deeper understanding…
Always be happy and blessed Pooja🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    1. Very true, it’s a simple yet complex quote 🙏

  41. Wishing that second day would hurry up and get here. lmao

    1. Lol I know what you mean, I wish it was easier to find out purpose.

  42. Where would we be without our awesome therapists! I’d be lost without mine that is for sure! I like listening to the rain too and being all cozy in my nice warm bed. X

    1. Agreed, so thankful for good therapists! It’s so nice to be curled up in bed with rain in the background.
