My poems were recently published in Petals of Haiku: An Anthology among many other amazing poems by other writers. I’m really honoured to have my poems published in this anthology which is already doing so well on Amazon. All the poems included are also really great. And I would be so honoured if you took the time to check out the book here. And shoutout to Gabriela Marie Milton from Literary Revelations for putting this book together.
All the poems are haiku’s, as the title suggests. Now, I don’t write haiku’s. In fact, I’m pretty sure this was the first time in my life that I’ve ever written haiku’s. But it was a new and fun experience. Difficult but also exciting. It also made me want to write haiku’s more often. I generally hate rules when it comes to writing poetry but this made me realise that having a structure has its own benefits.
Anyway, I noticed some bloggers were sharing a poem or two that they have included in the anthology on their blog as well. So today, I wanted to share one of my poems that was in the anthology that I am particularly proud of. It’s about chasing perfection and the downside of it. You guys know I’m a bit of a perfectionist and goal oriented so it’s also about how I often feel.
A Beautiful Garden
Beautiful garden
Always one flower away
From being perfect.
I hope you enjoyed the haiku. There are multiple other haikus by me in Petals of Haiku: An Anthology, as well as those written by other poets. I truly hope you guys enjoy them if you decide to check out the book. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below about this haiku- it was technically the first one I’ve ever written!
