Lao Tzu Quote

Quote Of The Day

Lao Tzu Quote:

Lao Tzu Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I shared this quote today because I sort of need to hear it. On a daily basis actually. I’m someone who does not go with the flow. I’m someone who fights the flow quite regularly actually. And thanks to that, I’m anxious all the time because I’m aware that I have no control over anything and yet I want to control everything. But, I’m trying to change myself. Go with the flow as this quote suggests I do. Because I think that’s the only way I’ll find peace.

In other news, as some of you may know (because I’m blah and talk about it all the time) I’ve been working on my first novel and second book overall. It’s a thriller, a genre I’m much more comfortable with than any other. And a genre I really enjoy writing. Anyway, the news is that recently I reached 60k words for it. That’s the furthest I have ever gotten with a book. And I’m more than three quarter of the way through. It’s honestly so exciting. Especially because the end is always more fun to write. At least for me. So yay, it’s a really big deal and I wanted to celebrate it with you guys.

What I’m Listening To This Week:

  1. Life goes on no matter what

    1. Yes, exactly.

  2. Well, it all depends on what the “flow” actually is. As history has proven, the “flow” isn’t always the best choice. This week, other than writing, working on music, and art, I ran a trail around an area called Coldwater Lake, which is right next to the Mt. Saint Helens volcano. I had a breathtaking sight of it as I reached the top of a ridge. Last things I listened to were The Upsetters “Clint Eastwood” and Jason Sharp’s “The Turning Centre of a Still World”. Good to hear you’re making progress on your novel. I wish you the best with its debut! Take care!

    1. That’s so true, it definitely depends. For me, I have to go with the flow of life. Not so much so with being blindly complaint.
That sounds so fun, I’m sure it was an incredible view. Thanks so much!

  3. 60K! Great progress! Normally this is my favorite kind of quote–really try to live this way. Today though, I’m feeling draggy and have to many pulls in various directions. So I’m asking “With which flow do I go?!” 😀

    1. *too

    2. Thanks so much! Lol, I feel your struggle 😅

  4. what a nice quote :0 and true too!!

    1. Thanks so much!

  5. my flow hit a dam this evening…did and thought I recorded a Zoom meet while on my evening walk…my Garmin stopped, the Zoom didn’t record…I was talking to myself for about an hour….at least I didn’t answer myself

    1. Oh no, sorry about that. Hope things get better soon.

  6. I agree with the quote, the flow. As time has passed, I have noticed how certain things, whatever they are, have an ebb and flow. I suppose this is a bit like being caught in an ocean current taking you along with it.

    1. That’s exactly it, you can’t fight the current you just have to go with it.

      1. But In wanna go back to 1980!

        1. If only we could time travel 😭

          1. Yessss! 😭

    1. Thanks so much.

  7. Pooja, wow! 60K words is awesome… and 3/4 of the way through! Good for you! 👏

I was down at the beach last week but didn’t get in much surfing, the waves were just slop. As far as listening, there’s a guy Dan Cummings, who has podcasts about history with a humorous, snarky twist. We listened to one on the drive back home. He’s a riot and you actually learn something. Start with his take on the Titanic 😂🤣

Good luck with the last 1/4!

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

Will definitely check out the podcast, I love all things history and this one sounds entertaining.

  8. Life in general has a flow, sometimes we are in a slow lazy river, and other times surfing the rapids!

Fighting the flow can be a normal setting when we have trouble trusting that the universe will work everything out for the best, even if it takes us over a cliff and our boat smashes.

It’s the lessons we learn about ourselves that help us on our journey, and with time we gain more trust in the universe because we have the benefit of looking back and seeing how much we learned and how things turned out.

    1. That’s so true! I think we’re so used to fighting the flow but the older I get the more I realise there’s no point to doing that. Going with the flow is just so much easier.

  9. Have you ever explored why you want to control everything? You probably need answers to this to enable you to deal with your anxiety.

    1. I’m working with my therapist for it but yes unfortunately I do know why I need control over things in my life and it stems from some past trauma. Thankfully, therapy is helping so much.

      1. I’m sorry to hear you have past trauma, Pooja, but glad to hear that you are working through it. 🤗💐

        1. Thanks 🤗

  10. Going with the flow is something I am learning every day. Listing to Sadhguru this week I am trying to take myself not so seriously, because at the end of the day life is all about going with the flow.

    1. That’s so true, all we really can do is go with the flow or fight it. Going with it sounds so much more fun lol.

      1. Fighting it is labor intensive

  11. I love that quote Pooja! It speaks to me too! Well done getting to 60 thousand words in your book! I love thrillers! X

    1. Thanks so much! I hope you are able to read it when I’m able to publish 😊

  13. Lao Tzu was a non-stop generator of brilliant quotes, this one included. Congrats on the novel’s progress! 60K words? What’s your goal, about 80, I’m guessing? Geeze, I wish I could contain myself to that. Brevity’s not my strong suit. 😉 You’re in the sweet spot for a novel, though. Have fun with the ending!! ❤️

    1. True, I’ve read so many wise quotes from Lao Tzu. Yeah, between 75-80k. Thanks so much, I usually don’t get this far so I’m excited I stuck with it this time! 😊

  14. A beautiful reminder to go with the flow of life

    1. Thanks, yeah I think sometimes we need to remember that.

      1. We often do.

  15. Congratulations on reaching 60K words on your upcoming book. As for the quote I am not sure I think it is a great quote. Sure you cannot do much to influence big trends and happenings in the world but you can still take personal stands and take actions that can have a small effect. Maybe not fight the flow but manage your part of it.

We are going to New Mexico this upcoming weekend to visit our son and his girlfriend.

    1. Thanks so much. I totally get what you mean, sometimes you have to break away from the flow. I think for me, this quote is more about not feeling too down when life doesn’t go my way.

Oh fun, have a great time.

  16. Not much going on this week. Same old same old 🙂

    1. Ah I see, well have a good week even if there isn’t much happening 🙂

      1. For me, not much happening IS a good thing 😀

  17. Love the quote….💖 Sometimes, letting things be is the best approach.
    Good luck with your book,Pooja😊🌷

    1. Thank you and yes absolutely 😊

  18. Nice quote. I struggle to go with the flow sometimes too. As much as i hate to go with the flow sometimes, it makes things a little less harder.
Congrats on reaching 60k words on your book!

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I think as humans we tend to fight the flow a lot but it’s so much easier to just go with it and let life happen. Thanks!

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  19. I love the quote…what a terrific dose of inspo. Keep at it with the new book…I’m finding the same. I need to flow when the energy takes me there and you’re well on your way with 60,000 words. Go forth…in flow! 🥰

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, just wait till the flow takes you there! 😊

  20. Great quote, Pooja! I not one to always go with flow, especially if I don’t find it my best interests. Congrats on reaching 60k words on your book!

I just read via WordPress news about the Tumblr/WordPress merger. From what I understand, it will be done on the back end and we won’t notice the change. I was surprised to learn that Tumbr has a half a billion followers!

I have a blog on Tumblr which my posts are automatically shared from WordPress. I like Tumblr because it is artsy and there are many that post photos of Autumn scenes and stuff that relates to Halloween. What I dislike about Tumblr is the porn.

    1. Thanks so much! I totally get what you mean, I think it’s fine to sometimes fight the flow but for me I need to learn to let life happen and not get too sad when it doesn’t go my way.

Oh good, hopefully it won’t affect us too much or preferably at all. Tumblr is really fun if you use it for artsy stuff but yeah, so much porn on there. I was totally traumatised by Tumblr as a teenager and now I’m always careful on there.

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja. I learned how to block Tumblr followers that were involved in porn.

  21. Great quote Pooja! Sometimes it takes going through a series of pain to fully get it! What you resist persists. Good luck on your book.

    1. Thanks so much! Yeah, that’s so true.

  22. Hard to get into that mentality!

  23. not always easy…to go with that flow, but certainly worth the try. a profound quote, Pooja…and all the best with your book with a well done too..🤍🎉

    1. Yeah, it can be really difficult but in the end it’s harder fighting the flow and ending up at the same place anyway. Thanks so much 😊

      1. wisely said and so true too…
        so welcome…🤍🤗

  24. Great quote; so simple yet meaningful. Here’s to more flow with life!

Also love the Pulp song, though I hadn’t heard this version before; the one I have is more post-disco with a great great beat.

Have a great rest of your week!

    1. Thanks so much. I’ve heard that version too. I love Pulp, they have such a cool sound. Have a great rest of your week as well!

      1. Yeah to that re: flow. Got to chill.

And Pulp… they are such a good band. The leader and singer, Jarvis Cocker, used to have a show on BBC 6 Music. He’s larger than life, very entertaining.

        Take good care, friend! 😊

  25. coke fries and a chocolate shake

    1. Sounds like a healthy and balanced breakfast lol

      1. no sugar high and that is why laugh and smile all the short while. then crash and burn and take yet another turn.

  26. Life goes on! Positive msg herein

    1. Thanks so much!

  27. love the quote and song, Pooja! You rock with your writing❣️

    1. Thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it!! 😊

  28. Hmm, flow and force. Sounds like a command of physics is required. I’m not in favor of your feeling anxious, but sometimes going against the flow is where the creativity is. Good luck in developing your novel.
To complete a novel is to me an admirable feat. In reponse to your question, I’d be listening in the car to a mystery by Louise Penny except the car I have at present doesn’t have a CD player. I suppose I should join Audible. So for now it’s a smattering of Classical and jazz provided by a station out of Philadelphia. Be safe (no falls).

    1. That’s true, I think you have to pick and choose when to go with the flow and when to go against it. I think the main thing for me is to not get too disappointed when things don’t go as planned.

Thank you so much. Interesting, I’m not much into Classical music but I have really gotten into jazz recently.

Thanks and have a great week.

  29. Sounds like you got your flow going girl!

    1. Thanks so much!

  30. Sounds like your a thick book

    Perfect ☺️

    Keep writing

    1. Haha yes, probably around 80k words, thanks 😊

  31. Congrats on the progress with your manuscript. Every step forward must be celebrated 👏 As for the quote… Hmm.. I’m an upstream swimmer. Going with the flow freaks me out. 😂

    1. Thanks so much and yes very much so 😊 lol going with the flow may not be for everyone 😉

  32. Wow, this quote really applies to me this week. I have so many flows to go with I can’t keep track, lol.
    Congrats on the 60K milestone!

    1. Don’t worry, just keep going where life takes you. I know moving doesn’t end when you shift and for a few weeks life remains so busy but things will settle down eventually. Thanks!

  33. My Dad always told me to go with the flow but then I had to keep reminding him of his own words when he would go against the flow!

    1. Lol, I think I need reminding sometimes too!

  34. Congratulations on your progress!

    1. Thanks so much!

  35. Lao Tzu has much to offer. I enjoy his works. Congratulations on moving ahead with your new book, Pooja.

    1. Yes, he has some fantastic quotes and thoughts. Thank you so much.

  36. Very interesting quote 👍

    1. Thanks 🙏☺️

  37. I disagree with this quote, Life doesn’t get interesting until you take a few steps against the flow. 🤣😎🙃

    1. That’s true, sometimes you have to go against the grain 😊

      1. Personally I run against the grain whenever possible 🤣😎🙃

  38. Congratulations on the novel Pooj. I don’t know if I could ever do a novel. That’s a lot of story.

    1. Thanks so much, it’s definitely been a lot but it’s also been fun to challenge myself. I think you could write an excellent novel if you tried.

      1. Thank you, maybe I will try sometime

        1. Yeah, if it ever feels right then it may be interesting to write a novel.
