A Small Update About The Stolen Content

I know I’ve only been away for like a day but here I am again, I guess I’m officially a WordPress addict… Someone please put me in one of those fancy, rich people rehabs where it’s more like a spa. Thanks! Anyway, the reason I’m posting today is because I wanted to share a small update about the stolen content from my blog.

The Stolen Content And Small Update:

I talked about this in an earlier post but basically someone copied my entire post and published it as their own. It’s been over a month since I filed a DMCA and yet nothing was done about it so I reached out to the “Happiness Engineers.”

A Small Update About The Stolen Content  A Small Update About The Stolen Content

After DAYS, I finally got this response which on the surface sounds very nice. Except I’m pretty sure it’s an AI response that is meant to basically shut me up in a nice way. I mean, maybe I’m being a cynic and that’s a real person. BUT, it’s been a week since I sent the email and nothing has happened yet. The post is still up and clearly this was not a priority whatsoever. And if I am a priority what does it say about WordPress that it’s still not dealt with?

A Small Update About The Stolen Content

I read this post recently and I think a lot of people feel similarly fed up with WP’s bullshit and are moving to other platforms simply because this platform is slowly becoming unusable.

That was my small update, it’s pretty disappointing compared to the customer care I had when I first started blogging.

What are your thoughts on this matter and the direction WP is going in recently? Do you think that email response I got is AI? Let me know in the comments below or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Ugh sorry this happened and you still have to deal with it. Also, I’m pretty sure you’re correct about that response being AI 😕 which is horrible customer service. I hope it’s resolved soon!

    1. Thanks. Yeah it really sucks but hoping it’ll eventually get resolved. It’s not great that WP is sending the message that people can steal content with zero consequences.

  2. It sounds a bit like AI but there’s nothing indicating that it is AI or a chatbot, so I would assume it is not AI. Tricking people into thinking they are talking to a real person would be shady. My guess is that it is a real person but that he/she used a template to write the message, or maybe took help from AI. That is a pretty common practice to save time.

    1. I assumed it was AI because of how it repeated everything I said, ChatGPT does the exact same thing. But maybe it’s a human and using a template I honestly can’t always tell either.

  3. It would be very disappointing to have your work up on the internet under someone else’s name. Can’t you block this person from reading your blogs?

    1. Yes, definitely disappointing. I’ve blocked them already but since it’s a public site they can still technically access it.

  4. Sorry about that, has to be frustrating, hopefully you stay on this platform, if not it’s understandable.

    1. Yes, quite frustrating. I do plan to continue on WordPress but very disappointing that they’ve done nothing so far.

  5. Pooja, I’m so sorry this has happened you, it’s so ridiculous! WordPress is indeed slowly crumbling, the company needs new people now. This tells me that the person(s) doing this have very tiny, feeble minds…

    1. Yes, it is so ridiculous! It used to take a couple of days to get such issues solved back in the day and now it’s been over a month. So disappointing.

  6. It’s disappointing, to say the least, that the other blogger is shameless and shady. Even worse is how glacially slow WordPress is at addressing copyright infringement issues. I bet the perp is stealing other bloggers’ content, too.

    1. Yes, it’s definitely disappointing. I know that on most platforms people do steal content but the fact they’re doing nothing about it sucks. They probably will continue to steal content considering they seem to be able to do so with no consequences.

  7. They are very slow but I feel like it’s a genuine response. However, I am terrible at differentiating at times between AI and humanity.

    1. I hope it’s a genuine response and that they do something about the post. So far, it’s still up which is disappointing.

      1. That’s actually crazy how long it has been.

        1. Yup it is. I’ve had this happen multiple times before and the content was taken down in a couple of days by WP. This has taken so long and it’s pretty simple since it’s stolen word for word.

  8. Bummer Pooja so sorry you had this done to you and for the ineptness of a WordPress response:(

    1. Thanks so much, yeah the lack of action from WordPress is most disappointing.

  9. Sigh, what an exasperating situation. And, yes, a note sent you without a resolution happening is pointless and smug. And in the meantime, the plagiarized display continues. Yes, I think people leave the platform over this kind of lack of service. And what’s to WP’s advantage? Are they only interested in the mega-customers? The ones they might have or hope to get? Frustration! Hang on, though don’t merely hang on.

    1. I agree, they didn’t do anything about the issue and sort of just repeated what I said instead of giving a proper response which is so frustrating. I think it sends out the message that people can steal content and won’t have to face any consequences which is not something a platform this large should be okay with. We shouldn’t have to be a mega-customer to get basic assistance. Thank you!

  10. Hey Pooja. I’m so sorry this happened to you. It definitely sounds like AI like how the hospital I get my treatment from responds to my messages occasionally. I’m really excited to hear you’re working on a novel though. I’ll definitely send you an email sometime to talk about that if that’s ok with you 🙂

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I got a feeling that it was an AI response because of how the email just repeats what I said instead of giving me any proper response.
Yes, feel free to email me about that. Always love to chat 🙂

  11. Nothing is more frustrating than having the admins ignore our requests. I had something similar happen on Redbubble where both my titles and descriptions were copied word for word. They couldn’t copy the design itself but it was still incredibly frustrating to have this happen. What did the admins do? Absolutely nothing. They gave me some generic BS email response – it tells me they aren’t serious. Why do people have to steal other people’s ideas and content? It’s the epitome of lazy.

    1. Wow, that really sucks that you went through that. Platforms need to do better when it comes to protecting their users content. That’s so ridiculous. Agreed, if people don’t have anything to share no one is forcing them to. Stealing other people’s content is just vile.

The Spa for the Soul (Minus the Robes and the Robbers)

I know this isn’t what you want to hear—but honestly? You can take them stealing your stuff as a twisted kind of compliment. Yeah, it sucks. It’s infuriating. But it also means you made something worth stealing. That’s a power they don’t have. They’ve got to borrow your light because they’re sitting in the dark.

You did the right thing by calling it out. That’s strength. That’s boundaries. But now comes the part that’s even harder—letting go of the frustration. Not for them. For you. Because while they’re out there pretending, you’re still creating. Still showing up. Still getting addicted to WordPress like it’s digital caffeine.

Life’s too short to waste your spark on someone else’s shadow. Spa day for the soul: release, recharge, rewrite.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I’ve been taking some time away to relax. And will continue emailing WP every couple of weeks until this gets resolved. Till then, I’m going to let it go and focus on my book.

  13. I’m going to tread carefully here because I can tell that your sass level is at Megan Thee Stallion levels right now. 😎 So I also wouldn’t want to accidentally get my ass kicked if I’m not careful. 😉😂

In all seriousness though, I’m sorry that you have to deal with this type of drama especially during the time being allotted for your novel. But, the haters will finally understand what’s up when that novel becomes a bestseller! 😎💪

    1. Lol, smart of you to tread carefully 😅 Thank you, that’s so sweet of you to say!! 💕

      1. You already know it’s my pleasure of course! 😁💕

  14. When you focus too much on developing an automate technology (block editor, interface changes, storage limits) you lose connection with real humans.

Technically, issues should be solved on timely basis, depending on their nature and relevance.
Wp could have responded better by taking down the article on another site (when it’s clear that it’s copied).

They can process thousands of articles in short time for the Reader. But can’t deal with an article verification request.

I have been reading blog posts on Substack rcently.
I found people do participate in engaging conversations. To my surprise, there are readers who write much longer comments than I write.
Authors are free to explore their ideas and thoughts in depth. The responses they receive are genuine.

When it comes to writing for a specific audience and driving conversations Substack is efficient.

    These are just thoughts!
I never used the platform directly. I might try once in future.
I enjoyed reading specific posts based on my queries though.

I hope you are well. Take care!

    1. Yup, I very much agree. They make all these unnecessary changes and yet can’t do the bare minimum for their users. Substack is something I plan to look into more as well, WP is becoming too difficult to use.

  15. It’s so disappointing that first your content gets stolen and top of that the party who is in authority responds this way! 😞

    1. Yeah, very disappointing especially WordPress’s response to the situation. I’ve had my content stolen multiple times but this is the first time they haven’t taken the stolen content down even after so long.

  16. I just wanted to let you know I wrote a comment to the thief and told them to remove it as well. Maybe if enough of us do that they’ll take it down

    1. Thanks, I really appreciate that. I’ll be sharing a link later in the week and ask people to do that because I don’t think WP is going to be doing anything to help.

  17. So sorry Pooja that someone has done this to you. Just wondering though, did you confront this person and if so what did they say? I would be furious if someone stole my post and passed it off as their own. I hope this gets resolved and hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, I contacted them and asked them to take it down which they did for a day and then published it once more so I reported them using a DMCA as advised by WP but that did nothing either. Usually when I file a DMCA the stolen content is automatically taken down within a few days. I hope so too and what annoys me is that this person will probably continue stealing content because there’s been no consequences.

  18. 🙏🌹😪🕉

    Aum Shanti

  19. That’s terrible ! They just stole your post like that ? I have seen a few sites that have used some of my pictures to sell hair dye . I can definitely tell their my loctures but I don’t know how to go about it .

    1. That’s awful that people are stealing your images. I would recommend filing a DMCA with WordPress or Google if it’s not a wordpress.com site.

      1. Yeah , it’s a third party hair dye and cosmetics site . I was looking into what I can do . I don’t think they’re WordPress based , but I was reading on the legality of , theres another site that supposedly will force other sites to pay if they don’t take it down . I think it’s Pixsy . But I read somewhere it’s slightly different if a buisness is using your photos to sell products .

        1. I see, well keep looking into it and get them taken down. It’s so messed up that people will just steal someone else’s images like that.

  20. That is irritating and it is also the worst nightmare of any writer. Today I was just chatting with another writer about having AI steal a writer’s work. Humans can do the same.

    1. Yeah, stolen content happens with humans and AI both. Very frustrating for sure but I’m more angry with WordPress than anything else because all platforms have people that steal content but it’s the platforms job to monitor these things and deal with them quickly.

    1. I so agree, there’s shortages everywhere and people pay barely anything to workers which makes people reluctant to work for them. I really hope things get better soon.

  22. So frustrating!! I was thinking about you yesterday when I had to upgrade to a business plan and a new theme. Although the theme choice is supposedly more expansive, customizing it is a pain. And when I ask a question to the WP people, they give me scripted responses. So annoying!

    1. Yes, they just give scripted responses which is so frustrating when the questions are specific!

      1. For real…annoying!

  23. Oh I’m sorry that your problem is still unresolved.

    1. Thanks, I hope it’ll get resolved soon.

      1. Amen. 🙏🏼

  24. Still unresolved eh? To me, that says everything about WP that we all need to know. If they can’t take care of their customers, then they don’t deserve to HAVE those customers.

I keep thinking about going back to Blogger full time, but with how much I comment, there is no comment notification, so you have to keep track of it manually and it is a LOT of work.

It would be nice if an actual blogging platform was created that catered to bloggers and didn’t try to upsell stuff. But sadly, this is why I’m back on the free plan. I’m not paying a company for problems, not when I can have those same problems for free 😉

    1. Yeah, I totally get that. The only reason I use an upgraded plan is for the plugins. If I wasn’t freelancing I would downgrade too. There’s really no perks of having an upgraded plan anymore.
I’ve been thinking about Substack, I hear it’s better than WordPress from a friend who uses it.

      1. I’ve heard of it, but always thought it was more of a newsletter type site and not necessarily blogging. If you experiment, let us know, please…

        1. Yeah, I’ll definitely share my experience with Substack if I decide to join. I think it can be like a blog but not to sure to be honest. I need to do a lot more research.

  25. Oh noooo. That’s horrible. Sorry you had to deal with your work being stolen and WP not holding the thief accountable 😞

    1. Thank you. Yeah, it really sucks that the content is still up despite notifying WordPress multiple times ☹️

Sorry you are going through this.

    1. Thank you, hopefully it’ll be resolved sooner rather than later.

  27. I can’t believe any action has not been taken, Pooja. IMO, this issue is not one WordPress should not take seriously! I think the comment from WP is a template.

    1. I agree, this is a major issue and one that’s easily solvable considering the post is stolen literally word for word. Yes, perhaps it’s a scripted response.

  28. So sorry this is happening to you. I agree about Al. I hope you get this issue resolved. So many things are changing on the net. When I have a gift card or extra money I enjoyed getting myself stuff from Amazon, I have been a customer for many years and even at one time had a Prime account but cannot afford that now, I made an order and suddenly I am told they have to verify me, It would be so disappointing not being able to order from Amazon anymore but don’t know how to resolve this issue,

    1. That’s so disappointing but over the last few months I’ve been hearing so many people complaining about Amazon and their service. It’s really gone downhill.

  29. Pooja. I commiserate with your frustration. Please keep us informed.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m happy to report that the stolen content has now been taken down.

  30. Wow, that’s just terrible service! It does read like a canned response to me, but hopefully behind the scenes someone in the area has been alerted and will do something about the content theft.

    1. I truly hope so but considering it’s been almost two weeks since I emailed them and the post is still up, I doubt it.

      1. Brutal. I never did get a response to the many issues I raised about the “update” either.

        1. That’s a shame. I think they politely tell us what we want to hear but don’t do anything about it which sucks.

  31. “Someone please put me in one of those fancy, rich people rehabs where it’s more like a spa. ” I’ll head with you.. lol.
The message sounded great and yet…. now what.. if you leave I leave but where are we going? ! I’d miss our friends too much1 🥹

    1. Lol, this is our sign to check ourselves in 😅
Exactly, the message was nice but very scripted and no actual solutions or timeframe for when the issue will be resolved ☹️

      1. Hahahahaha so true… a twofer,, 😂
I hope it will be resolved in time!

  32. Gosh, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I also had no idea that people are considering leaving WP for Substack. I left Substack for WP and I’ve never been happier. However, the premium features of WP are left to be desired. Also, their support is less than supportive.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I know multiple people that have already left WP for Substack. The support issue is on most platforms it seems which is a shame. I like WP too for the most part but I definitely wish it were more user friendly.

  33. I think pretty much any initial contact with any company is AI these days. When in responding in real time I am polite until it starts to repeat several times with the same response, but it is getting harder to tell for sure. I hope you get things resolved soon.

    1. Yeah, I very much agree. It’s so frustrating when it keeps repeating and doesn’t give any solutions. Definitely getting harder to tell, sometimes it takes me quite a while to realise it’s AI. Thanks so much.

  34. A while back one of my followers sent me a link to an Indian site. All my posts were being put out on this site under their banner! The annoying thing was my posts were getting more likes on their site than they were on mine!

    1. Oh wow, that seriously sucks!

  35. Even if not AI, it’s not connected with action, which is so frustrating!

What’s especially concerning is that this level of theft is so obvious. If they can’t or won’t do something about THAT, then what’s the point of having an avenue for so-called help?

    1. Yeah, no real solution or even time frame for when it will be resolved which really sucks. The stolen content is copy pasted word for word, all they have to do is take it down and they can’t even do that in a timely manner.

  36. So sorry to hear about your stolen content, ♥️Pooja♥️

    1. Thank you so much ♥️

  37. Definitely the problem has resolved, hope for the best Pooja

    1. Thanks so much, not resolved yet but hopefully will be by the end of the month.

  38. I’m not sure if anything can be done to prevent plagiarism. There are apps that detect it–ones that teachers use–but overall, people have been stealing content since the beginning of writing. It’s happened to me more times than I can count.

    1. Since it’s a wordpress.com site according to WordPress the post can be taken down if reported. This has happened to me a number of times over the years and usually reporting it is enough to get it taken down in a couple of days but this time seems different. So sorry you’ve been through this too. It really sucks when someone steals content.

  39. Sorry that you continue to have trouble with it. I forget- Did you share the blogger who plagiarized? We could all go shame the person.

    1. If they had shame, they wouldn’t have plagiarized in the first place.

    2. Thanks so much. I plan to share the link on a post next week if the post isn’t taken down and I hope more people comment or report the post so it gets taken down. I didn’t want to have to resort to that but it seems WP isn’t doing anything about it. Here’s the link: https://spiritwealthgroup.wordpress.com/2025/04/07/enhance-relationship-and-care-give-a-hand-by-mental-health-support-❤%EF%B8%8F/

  40. Life is too short and my anxiety disorder too close to surface for me to use my emotional energy on these issues. I never put my best ideas online. If I have a really clever retort to an argument online, I don’t post it; I put it in one of my so far unpublished novels. I expect there to be more and more online theft of ideas, identities, everything. It boggles my mind that people trust these zeroes and ones as much as they do.

I’m sorry if this comment isn’t very helpful, since I only get on WP a couple of times a week. Your blog here is one of the few I look forward to reading.

    1. Thanks so much, I appreciate you reading my content very much. Yeah, theft is already a major issue on the internet and have no doubt it will continue to be. Usually when one of my posts are stolen, I file a DMCA and that is enough to get it taken down within a few days. It’s been nearly two months since I filed a DMCA for this one and nothing so far. I think WP is severely understaffed or is replacing staff with AI.

  41. Thanks becouse share

    1. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  42. Masterful narrative

  43. That’s awful 😞 and I know they say the greatest form of flattery is imitation – but stealing is far FAR different.
I am so new to this I haven’t learned how to format stuff, but I sure hope that WP stands up for you.

  44. Pooja, I’ve been spotty on WO in May, just now seeing this. Wow, that really sucks! How did you discover it?

I can think of one type of remediation that would get swift action… just make a quick post about it and include the offender’s URL… and see how quick it comes down after 300 WP friends leave comments saying “Wow, this looks exactly like my friend Pooja’s content that she posted three days earlier. Uncanny how two people can think of precisely the same words…” or something similar… 😂😘

    1. Yeah, it definitely did suck but the post has thankfully been taken down now. I found out because the person who stole the post was stupid enough to follow my blog lol! I went to their blog, curious only to find my own content word for word.

I was going to do that but it seems Automattic finally took care of it 😅💕
