Six Word Story #220

Six Word Story:

Do you see what I see?

Six Word Story

About This Six Word Story:

This six word story was inspired by Kevin’s No Theme Thursday prompt for the week. I was thinking about what to post today because I’m not done writing my book review yet. And I thought, I hope Kevin posts a NTT post today, that would be awesome since I haven’t done one of those in ages. And I go to my Reader and see that he has posted a NTT post. The universe is really in my corner today. Anyway, you can check out his prompts for the week here.

I haven’t shared a six word story in ages but I know some of my readers really enjoy them so I wanted to share one today. When I saw this image I thought of photographers and how because of their images we see the world through their eyes. When we look back at images of special moments to us we think of those moments and rarely think of the photographer even though those moments were captured through what the photographer saw not what we did.

Photography is so subjective even though it feels like something that would be objective. At least to me. I don’t know if that made any sense. I hope it does. Recently, I had shared this post and Katiemiafrederick said something similar which is probably what led my mind to this SWS.

Feel free to share your SWS in the comments using this image as your prompt!

I recently published my first book and would be very honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.

      1. Thank you!

        1. You’re welcome!

  3. Very lovely, Pooja and a great angle to look at it from. We just see a picture, but what exactly was the photographer thinking?

    1. Thank you so much! That’s what I was thinking too, what goes on in the photographers mind.

      1. I’m no pro by any means, but I would think just like playing music, writing, etc., you’re probably looking to capture that moment in time and make people feel or think. The beauty of art – even if the artist has one intent, it can mean something different to each of us.

        1. Absolutely, it’s a type of art and the artist has their own goals with what they show us.

  4. Stay calm. Deep breaths. Snap photo.

    1. That’s a great six word story with the image.

      1. Thanks. Just remembered the advice I got from my journalism prof before leaving for Spain on a study abroad gig. I was going to take photos for the college’s student paper…but I was an editor/columnist, NOT a photographer, so I asked for some pointers.

        1. Ooh I see. Did you enjoy Spain? Seems like a great place for a study abroad semester.

          1. I did, yes, but I had my share of difficulties there. In 1988 it was harder to keep in touch with our relatives (we only had long distance phone service and air mail), and even though I’m a native Spanish speaker, adjusting to Spain’s cultural norms was a challenge. That said, I’m still friends with the director and student affairs director of the International College of Seville.

If you ever get a chance to go to Sevilla, GO! There’s lots of cool things to see and do…and there are Roman and Moorish archaeological sites, too!

            1. Interesting and yeah I’m sure communication was quite complicated back then. Will do, I’ve wanted to travel through Europe at some point.

              1. No email. No Internet. No smart phones. Cellular phones weren’t yet a thing for everyone, either!

  6. This post inspired me to a picture I took at the wedding. It was the best paid gig for us , I still have a few shots saved. Do you see what I see?

    1. That’s great, glad the gig went so well for you. Love the six word story.

      1. I had to go back and look thru my old pics, so much fun

  7. 🙏🌹👍🌹

    Aum Shanti

  8. Your SWS matches the pic perfectly.
One camera click. Paradise portal opened.

    1. Thanks so much. Love your six word story too, works very well with the image.

  9. Through writing you invites the readers to consider the unseen storyteller behind every captured moment.

    1. Thank you so much.

  10. Very true Pooja. We see the scene through the eyes of the photographer. And it’s their perspective.

    1. Thank you. Yeah, we view things through their eyes and see what they do.

      1. Exactly. And sometimes it’s a totally different perspective

  11. Which lens do you view through?

    1. Great six word story, goes very well with the image.

        Thank you.

        1. You’re very welcome.

  13. Very cool. I love the image of the photographer 🙂

    1. Thank you, yeah the image really stood out to me too 🙂

  14. I love this question as one to carry around, asking myself internally whether those I encounter are seeing the world as I see it, imagining how it might be different. Happy you’re in a good energy!

    1. Thank you! Wouldn’t the world be such a different place if we tried to see it through other peoples eyes? 🙂

      1. Why it concerns me so many don’t read fiction. It’s our express lane to empathy. 🙂

        1. So agree 🙂

  15. I see everything with closed eyes

    1. Ooh that’s an interesting six word story.

  16. Through my lens, I see life.

    1. Love that six word story. Thanks for sharing.

      1. Thank you, and you’re welcome, Pooja!

        1. You’re welcome 😊

  17. I like your way of thinking, Pooja. Who knows what the photographer sees through the lens? It’s like poetry with various interpretations. 🥰

    1. Thanks so much. Absolutely, like all art I think pictures can be interpreted differently by different people. 😊💕

  18. Photographers seem to give us the gift of letting us determine what should be seen for our eyes. And I wonder if sometimes the photographer silently wishes that someone would see what they’re seeing for their own sake of feeling understood with clarity. 🤔 Or whether some photographers love to keep their own interpretations to themselves as like a gift for themselves? 🤔 Who knows. I think that their art form is truly beautiful and life giving. I hope at least some of them out there feel appreciated for what they are doing for the world. We truly need them. 💖

    1. I hope they do as well because the right picture can be life changing. When we think of history, photos play a huge role in it and some will be remembered for centuries. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 💕😊

      1. You’re so right! You’re very welcome of course! ❤️💕🌹😊😁

  19. I see the world through you.😂

    1. Haha I love that 😅

  20. Very lovely ❤️

    1. Thank you 😊

  21. Not only is it nice to see the things we see with others physically but its equally satisfying to have someone else see what we see in the stories we write.

    1. That’s very true, with every form of art it’s interesting to see how others interpret it.

  22. You totally nailed the prompt, Pooja! And yeah… it’s been ages since I saw one of your SWSs, though admittedly, I have been spotty in reading with some time pressures lately. Nice job!

    1. Thank you! Yeah, I totally understand I’ve been so busy and have been MIA too.

      1. My pleasure!

  23. I love listening to my artist/photographer friend describe what she sees. I’m mostly blind to it, but every so often I get a glimpse and it’s fascinating! 💞💞💞

    1. It’s like they see so many things we miss, it is absolutely fascinating! 💕

  24. Is this the button I push?

    1. Lol great six word story addition.

  25. The world around us is constantly asking this question.

  26. Or just see what you believe?

    1. Ooh yes, that’s a great SWS for the image.
