Future Travel Plans

Pre-Travel Anxiety (Why do people get anxious before traveling?) | How Moving Abroad Changed My Life | Future Travel Plans

What are your future travel plans?

I have a lot of future travel plans that I hope will become a reality. Firstly, I want to explore Kenya because we have so many amazing places here that I haven’t been to yet. When it comes to travel, I’m a big believer in start with your home country.

Next, I want to go to Tanzania because that’s where my bestie currently resides. I would love to visit her as soon as I can. After that, I would love to go back to Ethiopia because I had such an incredible time when I was there a few years back. Seriously, the best place I’ve ever visited.

Outside of Africa, there are quite a few places I want to visit. Monaco is one of the ones I dream of visiting constantly. Then there’s Italy and Germany. I’ve wanted to go to both of those since I was a teenager.

I also want to go to England because I’ve always wanted to see Jane Austen’s house which I believe is now a museum. Plus, Derry (Ireland) and Scotland and Wales of course.

Lastly, I would love to visit Canada because I lived there for quite a while and miss the friends I made there. I would love to spend a few weeks there again and see everyone after so long.

What are your future travel plans if you have any? Let me know in the comments below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. That’s ambitious! More power to you though.
As for me, I plan on traveling only for funerals of immediate family or really close friends. Other than that, I’m happy to just stick where I am and let others have all the “fun” of traveling 😀

    1. Thank you. Oh I totally understand, I’m pretty introverted so the thought of traveling or not having my usual routine freaks me out. But the urge to travel is stronger because I know I’ll love it once I get there 😅

  2. I don’t think I will ever go back to England again. She probably won’t ever be the same again

    1. That’s totally fair.

  3. I have a Tanzanian uncle. He and my aunt were together for years, and they had one child. I would love to visit Tanzania as well.

I also want to visit Paris, France, London and Manchester, England, Hawaii, and Aruba.

    1. Oh cool, that’s interesting. Yeah, Tanzania is lovely and so much more affordable then Kenya. Ooh Aruba I forgot about that, I really want to go there too.

      1. Welcome to zanzibar any time

  4. Ethiopia sounds especially wonderful. There seem to be more Ethiopian chefs and restaurants cropping up (at least in the US) lately, too.

    1. It is, best country I’ve ever been to. We have a lovely Ethiopian place right next to my house, we go there often. They have the best vegan options.

  5. Right now, the only travel plans I have are…ugh…moving to another place. Not in Miami, but at least still in Florida.

    1. Ooh okay, any cities/towns in mind?

      1. Yes. Cape Coral. It’s on the other (Gulf of Mexico) side of South Florida.

        1. Interesting, that sounds like a nice place to live. Hopefully, you’ll be able to relocate there.

          1. Fingers (and toes) crossed.

  6. All your plans sound great, I hope you can make them true some time soon. My plan is to go the country of Georgia to meet up with my mother and my sister, who lives in London by the way. I haven’t been there yet but most probably will have to make a trip there next year. Anyway, Georgia is the country that my mom can travel to so we all are getting together there for her birthday

    1. Thanks so much. Georgia sounds like a great place for a family get together. I’ve never been there and don’t know much about it other then what I studied when we were learning about the USSR but I’ve seen pictures and it looks really nice.

      1. It has become very popular in recent years among the tourists from Europe and the US. It’s unfortunate because the prices grew up real fast

        1. Yeah, that’s the down side of being a popular tourist destination. Same thing with Kenya, since it became more popular with European and US tourists the prices have become crazy high for everything and anything.

          1. That’s so sad, but the good side of it is that economy is growing and so the place should be doing better even if they ask Yankees to go home lol this is what we read on the wall in Barcelona. No one says no to the money coming in, right?

            1. Yeah, that should be the case but due to corruption most of the money isn’t going towards making the country better. Sigh, it’s a shame. Lol I get it people get sick of the tourists sometimes. Kenyans seem to like them though, people are generally excited here to see new people.

              1. This is great! Some countries love visitors

  7. We’re heading to Alaska at the end of August for a combo land/sea adventure during which I will leave my comfort zone! I’m excited but also a little nervous. Ten days after we return, I have a work trip on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas.

    1. Oh wow, that sounds like a lot of fun! Have a great time and yes traveling is best when we leave our comfort zone.

  8. I remember when you lived in Canada, Pooja, that was a while ago! I’m right there with ya on seeing Monaco and the UK!! 🇬🇧🇲🇨

    1. Yeah, can’t believe it’s been so long but I really want to go back. Monaco is like #1 on my list outside of African countries. It’s so beautiful and relatively affordable which I didn’t expect. Maybe we’ll run into one another on our travels 😊

      1. Enjoy that!

  9. I agree with you that Kenya is a most interesting place to visit.

    1. It really is, we have so many beautiful places here.

  10. I’d love to travel across the states then venture to other places. I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland, the UK, France and Germany. I’d also love to visit Scandinavia. A writer can dream right 🙂

    1. That would be lovely. Absolutely, Scandinavian countries are so gorgeous.

  11. I think you lived in Canada pretty recently. Somehow I remember talking to you while you lived there, but I could be wrong. I agree you should start traveling close to home. I was just in Washington DC for a few days. It wasn’t much sightseeing this time. I was visiting congressional offices for my volunteer work for Citizens Climate Lobby. We got to meet and talk to and take photos with Senator Ted Cruz. For my future travel plans I think I’ll go visit my family in Sweden next summer (a year from now). We will be visiting our first grandchild (coming in September) in Baltimore a few times before that.

    1. Yeah, I’ve only been back for three years I think but I miss it already haha. Oh nice, that’s a good cause. Sweden sounds lovely in summer, I’m sure you’ll have a nice time with family. And that’s exciting, enjoy your first moments with your grandchild.

  12. Amazing! I really want to visit Tanzania too! But like you said, start with exploring home. I’m sure Kenya has lots of do

    1. Yup, for sure but Kenya is more expensive which is annoying haha. Tanzania looks so gorgeous, hopefully we’ll both be able to visit someday!

  13. We never did meet up when you were living in Canada. I was also in southern Ontario but in Guelph, Ontario at the time. Now, I’m all the way in Calgary, Alberta. So if you ever want to visit me in Calgary, my door is open!

    1. Aw, thank you! I’ll definitely let you know if I’m in Calgary which I may actually be because one of my friends lives there now. Guelph is lovely, hope you had a nice time there.

      1. Wow, small world! That’s cool that you have a friend who lives here. It seems like a lot of ppl move here, maybe due to the mountains and fresh air. My husband goes mountain hiking and says he’s more than happy to show you the mountains. I don’t mountain hike d/t poor balance. We’re 1.5 hours away driving distance from Banff and 3 hours away from Lake Louise!

I met one of my best friends at University of Guelph – she was the maid of honor at my wedding and I got to be a bridesmaid at her wedding last year 🙂 Things go around full circle. I don’t think I would have gotten out of my comfort zone had I not had that time to self-reflect and work on myself while I was a student living on campus. A part of me doesn’t mind living so far away from my parents now, because I do better when I have space to think deeply about life, and I cannot do that back at home. I’m from Waterloo ON.

        1. Oh nice, I love hiking but have never gone mountain hiking before. Sounds really fun!

Yeah, I know what you mean. And having your own space to grow while in university really helps. I think I experienced something similar.

  14. I want to visit Dubai, I’ve heard a lot about it and visit Athens Greece again.

    1. Dubai is lovely, my cousins go there often and really like it. Wow, Athen sounds amazing too, I’ve always wanted to travel all through Greece. Hope you’ll be able to visit again and see Dubai for the first time too.

      1. I’ve always wanted to go to Dubai. I haven’t been but I’ve heard great things about it. Have you tried the viral Dubai chocolate? I haven’t but I want to try it one day.

        1. Yeah, I tried it and it was pretty good. My cousin got me a Dubai chocolate bar for my birthday and it was nice. I’ve tried the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup too, that was REALLY good.

  15. Nice 🛩
    🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

    1. Thank you 🙏

  16. Thanks for the recommendation. You have an ambitious travel list. Good for you. Do it sooner rather than later. I have no plans to travel outside the US except next year I will be going to Canada. But that is only a two hour drive from where I live!

    1. Oh okay, two hours away isn’t very far. Have fun in Canada!

  18. Dear P.J. Godka,

Your travel aspirations are absolutely inspiring! I loved how you began with the beauty of your own country Kenya truly holds treasures yet to be fully discovered, even by those who call it home. Starting local is such a grounded and meaningful approach.

Tanzania and Ethiopia what beautiful choices rooted in connection and memory. I could feel your warmth for your best friend and the deep impression Ethiopia left on your heart.

Your dreams beyond Africa sound equally exciting. Monaco, Italy, Germany each with its own story and charm. And I completely relate to your wish to visit Jane Austen’s house such a literary pilgrimage! The call of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales is timeless.

As for Canada, it’s touching how places we’ve lived in become part of our soul. I hope you’re reunited with your friends soon.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt list. I don’t have fixed travel plans yet, but your post surely sparked some dreaming! I’d love to read your book congratulations on that milestone!

Wishing you many beautiful journeys ahead both outward and inward.
    Warm regards,🌹
    Vijay

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, I’m very tied with the countries I want to visit and hopefully I can visit them all in this lifetime. Thank you once more for your lovely comment! Wishing you the best as well.

  19. I hope your plans come to fruition

    1. Thank you so much, I hope so too.

      1. You’re very welcome

  20. I would like visit London and catch up with my old mates. It’s been a while. And of course I need to visit Trinidad soon. Home will always be home, no matter where I’m living.

    1. That would be nice, hope you can visit both soon. Absolutely, I feel that way about Kenya too. It’s always home.

      1. ☺️☺️ how is your second book coming along, Pooj?

        1. It’s going well. Starting to look for publishers now which is both scary and exciting. How’s your writing coming along?

          1. Wow.. that is exciting news. My project is now with an editor. So I’ve moved on to another project in my spare time. For me, the project is finished creatively. New things necessary to keep my energy flowing.
Keep us posted on the progress, Pooja. I’m available for your hype wagon when you’re ready.

            1. That’s great, so glad it’s progressing and you’re on to the next project. I so appreciate your support and know that you have mine too.

Hope you get to do some travelling.

    1. Hope so too, thank you.

  22. Your plans sound exciting, Pooja. I traveled a lot during my career, and enjoyed every minute of it. My favorite places I visited were London, Alaska, Las Vegas, and Vancouver, Canada. We have no immediate plans for travel, though we would like to revisit Blue Ridge, GA, and enjoy the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. We’ve thought about moving there; maybe some day.

    1. Thank you. Oh wow, you’ve traveled a lot and that sounds so fun. I would love to travel as part of my job. Blue Ridge sounds so lovely, I just Googled it and it looks so calm and peaceful. Hope you can move there someday, I’m sure it would be a charming place to live in. And lovely views to wake up to.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja. It is peaceful there, yet there is a lot to see and do.

  23. I would love to visit England sometime too, Pooja. 😊 I was super lucky to just come home from a river cruise passing through Amsterdam, many spots in Germany (castles!!!) and France. It was all beautiful.

    1. Oh wow, that sounds perfect. Those are all lovely countries to explore! I’ve never been on a cruise but it does sound like a lot of fun.

      1. (Sorry, I added a second comment in the wrong place, haha. Mea Culpa.)

        1. Lol it’s fine 😅

  24. I have an editor in Gambia, another in South Africa, and daily wisdom from Kenya. The internet can be a wonderful thing!

    1. It can be, I love that we can all connect with one another here.

  25. great places on your travel list, Pooja … and exciting adventures to look forward too… 🤍✨

    1. Thanks so much 😊💕

  26. Love your plan to explore Kenya – you’re right that starting with the home country is such a great strategy! Planning travel is fun, isn’t it?

    1. Planning is one of the fun parts, paying is the problem haha.

  27. Travel plans?

Either I will visit Delhi, there are chances…or probably I will read your travelling blog posts and assume I was there.

    1. I hear Delhi is nice, I have a very good friend that’s from there. Haha that works too. I read many travel blogs as well so I can travel vicariously through them.

  28. I follow a South African photographer Solly Levi on Instagram and his photos are breathtaking – I would love to take part in one of his photo safaris – that’s my one day big dream. You are so lucky to live on that amazing continent Pooja.

I’m doing a mad postie bike challenge end of September – 3000 km on a little postie bike, top speed of about 65km an hour. It’s an endurance event and will be certainly that – trying to become as fit as possible for it at the moment.

    1. South Africa is also another amazing tourist destination

  29. And I bet you will! But in the meantime, I can feel your excitement to see Kenya and your friend in Tanzania. And Monaco sounds AMAZING! I hope it all happens. 💕

    1. Thank you! 😊

  30. Hope you get to all those place Pooja…or even one or two.

    1. Thank you, hope so too 🤞🏽

  31. Why not try the US? Many interesting places. But it may be getting too expensive. Good luck with your travels Pooja! And since WP says you recommended my sight, thank you very much!

    1. Yeah, someday I would love to visit the US as well. Definitely lots of places to see. You’re welcome, I always enjoy your posts and wanted to recommend it to my readers!

      1. Thanks so much Pooja! I would like to recommend your site also since I read it all the time. Is there a button that you access?

        1. Thank you, I really appreciate that. You can recommend sites by going to the Reader -> Lists -> Blog Recommendations and add the site there.

          1. Thanks! I think I got it and put your blog on the Recommended list! Please let me know if you get the notification! Thanks!

            1. I got the email, thank you so much- really appreciate it!

  32. I hope your travel plans come into place. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures.

    1. Thanks so much, I hope so too.

  33. Visited Austen’s house last year – well worth a visit! I want to go back to Africa and do a safari! Then I want to tour Europe – particularly the Eastern countries and then Greece!

    1. Oh wow, that’s so cool. And those sound fun, hope you can do some more exploring!

  34. Great to hear about it, I am thinking about going to see Hokkaido region in Japan and even travelling to Canada one day

  35. I’m not much of an international travelor myself, but I hope you get to all these places and more. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thanks so much!

  36. I hope you get to visit all those places, Pooja. I’d love to visit Canada, Alaska, and Italy, but in the U.S., many state parks across the country. 🥰

    1. Thanks so much and hope you can do some more traveling too 😊

  37. I hope you get to experience all of those places! As for me, I have a whole list of places lol right now they are mainly in the U.S. and are historical locations, but I’ve never been to the American Southwest. I think it’d be cool to go to the desert (Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, etc). The pics always look beautiful!

    1. Thanks so much! Yeah, the US has some great places too especially historical sites so I’m sure that would be cool too. Hope you get to embark on those travels soon!

  38. I like your travel plans. If you get to Canada I would recommend going to visit some of the national parks in the Rocky Mountains. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii.

    1. I definitely want to do that the next time I’m in Canada. Hawaii sounds really fun, especially swimming with the dolphins.

  39. Do you want to visit Canada in the winter? 🙂
I would love to go back to Brazil and Europe

    1. That would be amazing. Brazil and Europe sounds nice. 🙂

  40. I really hope you get to see your bestie out there in Tanzania soon!

    1. I hope so too!

  41. Travel with most understandable persons is important, otherwise it is unsahikkable

    1. That’s true, having the right company is a big part of it.

      1. Thanks for your valuable comment

        1. You’re most welcome.

  42. I hope you get to go to all of the places you want to go to and many more! Also, would love to meet up with you if you have time when you come to Ireland 😊✨️💗

    1. Thank you and yes absolutely, that would be so cool- I’ll definitely let you know if I’m ever there (hopefully will be someday!) 😊💕

  43. I want to go to Greece and do lots of sightseeing of all the history with the parthanon and things like that, and I’d also like to go to nyc for shopping and torism with my friends. I’d like to go to some all inclusive hotels in places like Spain with my extended family and close family. Somewhere I’d like to go again is krakow in poland because it was so beautiful and had so much history and had the nicest smoothie I’ve ever had in krakow old town. (If you ever go, go to the market and get a smoothie you will not regret it.)

    1. Greece sounds lovely and from what I’ve seen online it’s beautiful. Spain and Poland sound good too. Will definitely do that if I’m ever in Krakow, thanks for the tip.

  44. Those sound like wonderful places to visit! I’ve been to Edinburgh in Scotland, and had a fantastic time. Italy is amazing too. The people are nice, and the food is delicious. I’d love to travel to Nigeria, and Ghana. As well as Japan, China, and Brazil.

    1. Thanks so much! All of those sound amazing- hope you can visit them in the future.

  45. When I grow up I wanna be like you . Lol !
    😆 🤣 😆

    1. Lollll 😅😅

  46. Our world is full of fascinating places to visit, but you’re right, Pooja, we can start near home. Have the best day, my friend.

    1. Yup absolutely. Thank you and you too.

  47. If I was to travel, I have a list of natural and historical sites in the US that I’d love to visit, and someday I’d like to ‘meet’ the ocean. But for right now, I’m happier staying close to home. I do hope you write about your travels, I love to visit from the comfort of my easy chair! 💞💞💞

    1. That would be amazing and I’m glad you like where you are as well. It’s so important to love where you live too. Thank you so much, will be sharing all my travels here! 💕

  48. Take care, Pooja!

  49. Nice itinerary- but you could also add on Uganda- the mountain gorillas, cultures and exciting sports adventures not to mention the wildlife

    1. That’s true. I visited Uganda a few years ago and loved it.

  51. I agree with starting with your own country, it makes travelling abroad less overwhelming and there really is so much to see in one place.

    1. Absolutely, it’s much easier to start with a place you’re already familiar with and then move on to new countries. Thanks so much for the comment and follow.

  52. That’s ambitious

  53. When I don’t get the chance to travel somewhere for a few days, I prefer some day or even weekend trips within my country too. Although, I struggle a lot when it comes to traveling through my country and still keep my privacy up as in not telling exactly where I went. Since my country isn’t as big as Germany or even Switzerland, it’s a bit of a challenge 😂

    1. Yeah I think travelling more locally can be a lot of fun too. Lol that’s fair 😅

  54. I would like to see more of Italy. Had the chance to travel from Australia to Europe twice in the last 10 years but there is so much more of this beautiful country i haven’t seen yet.

    1. That sounds truly lovely. Do you know Donna and her blog? She does the most wonderful tours of Italy with her clients and shows them some really beautiful places.

  55. Come to visit Nepal

    1. I really want to, Nepal is gorgeous.

  56. U welcome 🤗

  57. Very creative travel blog post, and cinematic photography! Keep up with motivating others to explore. We start soon the Master of Travel Journalism so you are welcome to join us! Just reach out on pm. 🙂
