At the mansion there was a secret
In the garden lay the body of its first mistress
Pushing up daisies… or in this cases roses as dark as night
It was an eerily beautiful sight
You see she had committed the mortal sin
Of letting her age show on her skin
The master of the house did prefer
His wives to be young but still mature
He couldn’t stand wrinkles or crows feet
So he turned his second wife into crows feed
The third time he thought would be the charm
Eighteen and the sweetest smile, what could be the harm?
Little did he know that she had a secret she kept
Since she was a child she had wept
For his first wife had been none other
Than her beloved sister
It was revenge she was looking for
But first she had to marry this old bore
Once that was done and his will was updated
She gave him her famous tea that kept him sedated
She had a wicked smile as she stood by his bed
Holding the pillow over his head
He was gone without much of a fight
And suddenly the world seemed so much more bright
About “A Well Kept Secret “:
With Halloween quickly approaching, I thought I would share a darker poem. It’s been quite a while and I have to admit this was a lot of fun to write. More spooky content coming very soon.
