A Movie, Some Art, And Other Things That Made Me Smile

I’m in a terrible mood right now, absolutely riddled with anxiety, frustration, and sadness because of dealing with very narcissistic behaviour from someone all day. Walking on eggshells simply because others have low emotional intelligence is exhausting. In order to improve my mood, I decided to share some things that made me smile this week instead.

The Mandalorian And Grogu

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I went to watch The Mandalorian and Grogu in theatres and it was a lovely experience. I know the movie has mixed reviews but personally, I LOVED it. One of the best Star Wars movies I’ve seen so far. It wasn’t all glitz and glam but it had an touching story and felt similar to the show which we loved as well.

My outfit for the movie, I didn’t buy the shirt for the movie I simply happened to have it:

Star Wars The Manadolorian And Grogu T-Shirt

Art

I’ve continued my oil pastel art which has been a lot of fun. My cousin actually gave me some of his oil pastels too which he no longer uses which I was grateful for because they’re very good quality.

Here are some of my more recent drawings:

Writing

I’ve been writing again, on and off. I don’t have much yet but at least I’m writing again. The only good part about being in a bad mood is that it really fuels my writing for some reason.

Reviews

I’ve gotten more review for my novel, Perfect, which always feels surreal in the best way. To know that people enjoyed my writing is truly incredible, it makes me feel like all that hard work was worth it. More on those next week.

Anyway, that’s all for me. I am mentally and emotionally drained but at least I have so much to be grateful for. Some stuff made me sad but there were also lots of things that made me smile and I’m choosing to focus on those for now.

What have you been up to? What made you smile this week? Let me know in the comments below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. BIG HUGS just for you

    1. Thank you, appreciate it! 🤗

  2. Saw that film recently. Was one of the real Disney ones. When I left Booking.com had done some sort of force application in my phone. Negotiations were short.

    1. Yup, great movie. Oh no, sorry about that. I hate when they do that with apps.

      1. It was a bit more advanced than that unfortunately. I had to share the cinema with a very stressed and “powerful” “man” who was bullying his son. I had just got back from seeing my father who I had not spoken to for 3 years and was a little sensitive. I removed myself from the room because idk… it was weird and I got a soft drink before the film started. Yada yada yada … the app had booked something for me. I didn’t even bother looking. Smacked of tryhard and just walked around genuinely laughing at how someone with standing and everything could be so stupid as to throw an absolute kitchen sink at a bloke with nothing. Read your Sun Tzu

        1. What a shame, it’s so sad when a childs first bully is their parent.

          1. The old man might have been having a tough time. The missus probably told him to spend time with what should remind some people they are so lucky for. Dunno. … I write fiction. Helps me to appreciate possibilities cos I don’t know the facts of everything

  3. We learn to ride the waves. Im glad you’re focusing on the good stuff rather than letting the not so good weigh you down. Loved the artwork, btw.
Haven’t seen the new Star Wars as yet. Torn between that and the HeMan movie. But I like starters way more, so I will probably end up doing that instead

    1. Thank you so much, yes trying my best to continue focusing on the positive.
I’m a huge Star Wars fan so I may be a little biased but honestly The Mandalorian and Grogu is a movie I think you’ll love. Let me know if you watch it.

      1. I am sure that I will. My fellow Starwars junkies no longer live nearby, so it will be a solo trip

        1. Let me know what you think of the movie. Thankfully, my dad loves Star Wars too so we always go watch the movies together.

          1. So very lucky. lol. My colleagues say He Man, or MJ… so I guess I will be going solo.

            1. Oof yeah, I guess but there’ll be lots of people in the theatre I hope so you’ll still be among Star Wars fans.

              1. Facts… im definitely going on Friday

                1. Yay, let me know your thoughts on the movie.

                  1. Oh I most definitely will

  4. I’m sorry that you are in a bad mood, Pooja, in time you will be able to push that nonsense aside and not let people get to you easily. I don’t put up with anyone’s rubbish these days…

    1. Thanks so much. I think that’s part of it, I’m no longer tolerating bad behaviour and people that like to behave that way don’t like when you set strong boundaries. But life goes on 🤷🏻‍♀️ Glad you don’t tolerate anyone’s rubbish either, it’s important to put ourselves first in those cases.

      1. You bet, Pooja! I hope you feel better. 😊😊

        1. I am, thanks 😊💓

          1. Yay! 🙏🏻🌹

  5. Sorry you had to deal with that kind of bs from another person. I can only imagine how exhausted you must be from it.

I’ve heard lots of good things about Mando & Grogu from a wide variety of people. I guess it can’t be that bad then 😉

    1. It’s exhausting but I’m trying to accept what I can’t change and focus on the positive instead.

Oh good, I’m glad other people are liking the movie too. Honestly, it’s very good I think some people just like to complain especially online which is where I hear most of the negative reviews.

  6. So nice to get positive feedback on your published work Pooja. You have many interests.

    1. It’s such an amazing feeling to read those reviews. Thanks so much 🙂

  7. I hope things get better for you. If you don’t have to be around that person, please consider limiting your time with them. No one should have to walk on eggshells. Be well.

    1. Thank you so much. I try to avoid them as much as possible but sometimes it’s unavoidable. It sucks to have to do that though, so exhausting.

  8. I’m pleased that you are finding the thin gs in life that make you happy. With regards to what is making you sad it’s sometimes hard to address these type of situations but from experience I can tell you that life without that person will be so much better 😊

    1. Thank you so much. I agree, life would be much better without them but for now I’m unable to avoid them completely. Saving up so I can get away eventually though 🙂

  9. I loved the oil pastels you did of the fruit, so cool!

    1. Thank you, the tutorial for the fruits was quite detailed so I think they came out more realistic especially the apple!

  10. I know exactly how you feel. It’s not easy to deal with. Glad some Star Wars and making some art helps as a good distraction from all of the BS.

    1. Yeah, it’s exhausting. Thanks, it’s definitely a good distraction from all the crap!

  11. I love Grogu, even though I haven’t seen anything with him in it. He’s so cute! I’m sorry for what you’re experiencing, but am glad that you’re able to creatively deal with it. The drawings are beautiful. 🤗💜🌻

    1. Haha yeah, Grogu is just the cutest little guy. Thanks so much! 🤗💕

      1. YW! 🤗 💜🌻

  12. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  13. Hi Pooja!

“I’m in a terrible mood right now, absolutely riddled with anxiety, frustration, and sadness because of dealing with very narcissistic behaviour from someone all day. ”
    I can relate here.💯
But the good thing is that the situation at home has improved recently. Mentally and emotionally I’m stable at present.

I had an exam on last Sunday. I attended it, and as per me I tried my best— within the limits of my preparation.
There’s another exam getting organised today, on this Sunday. For this I had to reach Delhi and then to one more city from there. Because of too much heat and health risks I cancelled this particular journey, at the last moment.
I was anxious too. Felt so much pressure. But I’m doing fine at present. I tell myself to not attach my identity or self-worth to a particular exam/job.

I saw your drawings. They are beautiful and accurate. The detailing makes them more attractive. Also you did use the colours effectively.
You can use these drawings as illustrations in your book.

So many things are going on. It becomes difficult to focus.
Slowly I’m figuring out the distractions and minimising them.

I hope you are good. Take care.☘️☘️

    1. I’m so glad your home situation is improved, it’s hard to live amongst chaos.

I understand, it’s hard to travel when the weather is bad or if we’re feeling anxious. It’s not worth it.

Thank you so much and take care of yourself too 🙂

  14. Your art looks fantastic. Alchemy is the answer! 🙂

    1. Thank you and yes it always makes me feel better! 😀

  15. Thank you for sharing this honest and heartfelt post. 🌹

What stood out to me most is your ability to find gratitude and joy even after such an emotionally draining day. That takes real strength. The movie, your artwork, the return to writing, and the positive reviews for Perfect are all wonderful reminders that difficult moments do not erase the good things happening in our lives.

Your oil pastel drawings are beautiful, and it’s inspiring to see you channel your emotions into creativity. Sometimes art and writing become the very things that help us navigate challenging seasons.

Congratulations on the growing recognition for your novel as well those reviews are a testament to your hard work and talent. Wishing you many more reasons to smile in the days ahead. 💕💕💕

    1. Thank you so much. I think it’s so important to be grateful even when things are tough. It’s what helps us get through everything. I’m happy to hear you liked the art 😊

  16. I liked the movie- Mandolorian too. Hope you feel better soon dear friend. Hugs

    1. Yeah, it’s a touching movie. We loved it too. Thank you so much 💗

      1. You’re most welcome dear friend

  17. Hope you have a better week coming up. We had very dry weather, so it was nice to get some rain today.

    1. Thank you so much. Glad you got some rain and hopefully it’s not too warm.

      1. Thanks. It cooled down a lot from 31C to a forecasted daytime high of 12 for the next couple days.

        1. Oh good, that’s much cooler.

  19. One of my friends won an emmy for producing the sound for the Mandalorian (Bonnie Wild). So I’m biased about the film.
Love those pastels. Colours are glorious.
As for me – I’m enjoying some great reviews for ‘My 60s’ book and impatiently hoping for more.
I’m producing the cover for ‘My 70s’ – which I have written and had edited. Now I’m going back to sort The Hendrix Paradox – a sci-fi novel which I am going to re-edit. Busy busy!

    1. That’s so cool, the music in the Mandalorian is always exceptionally good!

That’s wonderful, I hope to read your 60’s book soon once I get a little more free time. It’s good to be busy and it’s good to keep writing!

  20. Great looking at the positive side, P. J.
I got your book too an I’m reading but can only get in about 15mins every couple of days. I’m up to the roof with tasks these days, but I do enjoy the 15mins. I’ll be reviewing asap.

    1. Thank you so much. I’m glad you’re enjoying the book and honestly no rush, take as much time as you need. I know life gets very busy.

      1. 🙏🏾🖤

  21. The best ways to deal with those low vibrating emotions is exactly what you are doing! Well done, I know it is not easy. Oil pastel is an acquired taste, my sensory needs doesn’t allow me to enjoy it but so glad to see you making good use of them with ease.🧡

    1. Agreed, the only way to push away the negative is to focus on the positive.
Thank you so much! Yeah, oil pastels can get messy but I’m enjoying them very much 😊

  22. I hope you feel better, Pooja. Don’t let toxic people get you down, because they’re not worth it. I love your artwork.

    1. Thanks, I woke up in a much better mood. 💗

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  23. A raw and emotionally honest personal reflection—expressing intense feelings of anxiety, frustration, and sadness while dealing with a difficult and emotionally draining relationship situation. 💭💔

    1. Thank you so much. It’s difficult for sure but trying to continue focusing on the positives.

  24. Feel better soon.

    1. Thanks, I woke up feeling better today.

  25. Lot of prayers for you. I hope you will get over your bad mood soon. Watching your favorite movie, reading a book, painting and writing will definitely distract your mind from negative thinking, and will improve your mood. Stay blessed.

    1. Thank you so much, feeling better today. Yes, those really help me focus on the positive and stop my mind from ruminating on the negative stuff.

      1. Glad to hear that you are feeling better today.

  26. Hello, I would love to include you for a blog on my blog about authors. I have a list of questions that I would love if you could address. I just finished your novel and enjoyed it. I would like to include my thoughts on my blog. Let me know what you think. Thank you.

    1. I just send you an email. You will be my first author blog for my site. Take a look and let me know if you are interested. Thank you, kindly!

    2. Thank you for reading the novel and I responded to the email. Have a lovely week.

      1. Okay, thank you P.J. Gudka, I just send you another email. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

        1. Responded to the email and thank you again for sharing the interview. I’m excited to share a link to it on my blog soon too.

          1. That is wonderful. Thank you!

  27. What a great job at turning that frustration of the most annoying people (might i guess names 😂)… ENOUGH about THEM! 😎 Omg your drawings are great.. for sure you can illustrate my lil book!… what have you been holding out for. Great reviews and gotta love the shirt and movie going. This too shall pass unless you want to trade people for mine for awhile.. grass is always greener right. Love you, Pooja❣️

    1. Haha yeah you know the ups and downs I’m having with them 😂 Aww thank you, I would love to illustrate the book except I would need more hours in the day lol! Thank you so much, yours will too!! ❤️

  28. Hey Pooj, I know the feeling. I have been avoiding toxic people all week, I mean I tried… I wanted to make some art but got distracted by the book I picked up: Hawaiian shamanistic healing. Medicine ways to cultivate the aloha spirit. By Powell and Miller. The book has some exercises which I am going to do. I also want to go see the movie, maybe next week. And I wanna make a handbag for summer, I love small projects like that, because every time people ask me where I bought it, I say: i made it. Wearable art is the best kind of art.

    1. Yeah, it’s exhausting but all we can do is avoid them and try to focus on the positive. My aunt was telling me about that book a while back, she really liked it. The movie is fantastic, I hope you love it too. That’s so cool, my mum likes to make bags and other things too. It’s really nice when you have something unique that you made yourself.

      1. I can relate to that yes

  29. I’m glad you can find pockets of joy in a rough week, Pooja! 💞

    1. Thank you so much! 💗

  30. Hi Pooja! I’m sorry to hear about your recent experience and that it messed with your mood! I think it’s so cool that you’re using positive experiences to help! Your paintings are beautiful, and I plan on getting your book! Congratulations on your novel! I would love to put out a book myself! To answer your question, a recent highlight that made me happy was a recent girls night out with my mother and other female members of my family! It was absolutely fun! I got my nails done professionally for the first time for the event! I felt so beautiful! I hope you had a good weekend despite the bad experiences! All the best Pooja!

    1. Thank you! I hope you enjoy the book if you decide to get it!
Ooh that would be amazing, have you started working on your novel yet? That sounds like such a great time, getting your nails done is so relaxing and fun!
      Have a lovely week!

  31. Glad you are feeling better. Love the fruits and pretzel!

    1. Thank you so much!

      1. My pleasure!

  32. Those croissants look good enough to eat – beautiful, Pooja! I love how art can help restore a better mood. Sorry to hear you’ve had to put with narcissistic behavior – that’s so hard!

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah, it’s exhausting dealing with that sort of behaviour but we can’t control others, all we can do is control our own mind and learn how to focus on the good.

  33. We should really look at getting your paintings in the Louvre. If there’s no space, we can just put the Monalisa in the back🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

What made me smile this week?🤔

Ooh! I really loved seeing Arsenal lose the UCL final. That was amazing

    1. Aww haha wouldn’t that be amazing but I fear Mona Lisa would be mad 😂

      Ooh that’s awesome lol!

      1. Yeah, she does look sensitive 😂

  34. Good you’re about to cheer up. Congrats. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thank you so much 😀

  35. First of all, I really appreciate you for being authentic, the world is gonna be hostile whether we like it or not, I often see people as portals to myself. If I’m triggered then it’s just a doorway into finding parts of me that needs to be resolved. I’ve loved starwars, but watching them kinda feels heavy, it’s a great movie people say, but I often procrastinate, maybe the universe doesn’t want that for me yet.
You paint,!? That’s great Pooja and you seem good at it especially how you layer up the colors…more practice and experience will get you far…
Also about the reviews, it’s great to hear because what’s good and real will always be appreciated. Sending you more positive vibes your way..

    1. Absolutely, the world is not a perfect place and some days are going to be difficult. It’s best to be honest about that. That’s so true, oftentimes our feelings are fuelled by trauma or something internally.
Yes, I’ve been doing oil pastel art and it’s been a lot of fun. True, I’m sure I’ll continue to get even better with time.
Thank you so much. Have a lovely day.

  36. Hi, I hope you’re finding some re-fueling. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. I saw some of the series but not this film yet. So actually it’s good for me to know you liked the film. It is curious how a negative mood might get you into writing. Hmm, it’s a truism that art comes out of pain, though I’ve wondered if it always has to be that way. Maybe. You use colors really well, I think, in your painting.

    1. Thank you so much. Yeah, I would recommend the film if you enjoyed the show. It’s similar and a lot of fun to watch.
True, I think a lot of artists draw inspiration from their pain. Thanks so much!

  37. Your pastel art is amazing! You are so talented.

    1. Aw thank you so much, it’s been a lot of fun getting back into hobbies I used to love!

  38. When I saw the macaron art I shouted MACARON’s in my head 🤣 they’re so cute! Love the pretzel and croissant too. I have a thing for croissants at the moment. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with a difficult person in your life, it makes me smile that you don’t stoop to their level, you keep at what you enjoy and find things to feed your soul. That’s very admirable and I hope this trait gets you through others tough times too 🫶🏽✨️

    1. Lol I love the macaron’s but I think my favourite is the pretzel! Ooh croissants are so good, have you tried the croissant sandwich? It’s such a great mix of sweet and savoury.
Thank you, I’ve learnt to continue to focus on the good! 😊

      1. I know a place that does croissant sandwiches but I’m yet to try one I think! You’re making me want too 😋

        1. This is your sign to give it a try! 😄

  39. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I hope it gets better for you. I’d dealt with my share of narcs in the workplace. I don’t miss it. I love your artwork!

    1. Sorry you’ve had to deal with people like that too. Thank you!

Sorry you had to deal with that. Glad that you found some things that made you smile.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, all we can do is try to keep focusing on the good.

  41. sorry you were dealing with some bothersome people! I’m glad you enjoyed the movie! And your creating again! Yay all good! 🫶💐

    1. Unfortunately, there’s always going to be people like that in life. We just have to get used to it. Thank you so much! 💕

  42. Glad you liked the movie, Pooja. I’m not sure I will see that but good to know about it. Loved your hurt, Honey.

    1. Thank you so much.
