The Plan
It all started a few weeks back. It was the end of June and I was coming up with some goals for the second half of this year. I realised I had never been to a spa and really wanted to have that experience and added that as one of my goals. I talk about it a little more on this post.
My sister isn’t a fan of spas so I thought MistryLand and I could go on our own. She, however, had been insanely busy with med school until about two weeks ago when her finals finally ended. After the stress she had gone through and after all the stress I had been going through with working full-time for the first time, I thought a spa day would be amazing so I started searching for the best spa near us and ended up finding Serenity Spa.
They have two locations in Nairobi but we ended up going to the one in Kitisuru because it’s closest to us. We decided to go in the morning so that we could spend the whole say together and also because the package I had picked (the Rafiki Package) was for over two hours.
I ended up getting as ready as one can get when they are barely awake and we headed to the spa. Our Uber driver got a little lost so we were a couple of minutes late but they were super nice about it since it was just a minute or two.
The Vibe
As soon as we reached, I knew I had made the right decision picking this spa. It was located in a really beautiful area surrounded by plants and it had a very serene vibe. It was so peaceful and calm. We quickly went in so I didn’t have time for pictures, sorry!
We filled out some forms with our information since this was our first time there and soon we were off to our massages. Everyone was wearing a mask, including us since it’s their policy to wear masks indoors and I thought that was awesome for safety reasons.
We were then taken to a room where it would be just the two of us and the people giving us the massages, etc. That way we would have our privacy and could just talk and relax together in peace. This is what the room looked like:
The Massages
It started with a head, neck and shoulder massage for half an hour. First they gave us each a blanket and hot water bottle keep us cosy while we get the massage.
I don’t like people touching my hair and head so I told her to concentrate only on my neck and shoulders but from what I hear from Mistry, the head massage was incredible!
The neck and shoulder massages were fantastic too. I am one of those people who carries all their tension on their shoulders and it felt like 25 years of tension was melting away. My shoulders have also been in pain for a few years since I type a lot and read/write often. And carrying a heavy bad on my shoulders for most of my life didn’t help.
The massages really helped loosen my shoulders, get rid of the pain and helped me relax. It was honestly thirty minutes of pure bliss. And the message therapist was so great, she listened to me when I told her to decrease the pressure on my shoulders since they are sensitive and she did the massage perfectly.
I didn’t want to snap pictures in between the massage because I just wanted to be there in the moment and enjoy it but here is a before picture of me looking exhausted as can be and very ready for a massage:
The Pedicure
After the wonderful massage, they started on our pedicure. It was sooooo incredible! They started by soaking our feet in warm, scented water:
Next they disinfected them, massaged our feet and legs, rubbed the sole of our feet with a stone (I’m very ticklish so it took everything I had to not giggle), did a charcoal scrub, cut and shaped our nails, filled them and pretty much got them ready for the pedicure:
They started with a base coat, put on the nail polish once the base coat was dry and then put on a top coat once that was dry. Mistry and I had picked matching colours for our feet!
The Manicure
They started on our manicure while our feet were drying and as expected, it was just incredible! Unfortunately, one of my hands is messed up right now so I could only get the manicure on my left hand but it was still amazing! I had picked a deep blue colour and Mistry had picked a golden-ish/nude colour.
Just like with the pedicure, they gave our hands a lot of attention and a wonderful charcoal scrub. They started with a base coat, actual polish and top coat for the nail polish.
It was amazing and I love how they had shaped our nails, I’m awful at shaping nails so I was so impressed!
The Results
So, how did our manicure and pedicure turn out?
This was how our manicures turned out:

And this was our pedicures plus some cool slippers they gave us to wear till our nails were dry:
We have matching toes now! I’m the one in the lighter brown pants (left) and she’s the one in purple (right).
I also want to add that by the time you read this it will have been exactly two weeks since our spa day and neither of our nails have chipped at all which is very impressive!
Look For The Day
I noticed a couple of you liked it when I shared my makeup and outfit on the last post so I thought I would share my outfit today too:
Sweater: ROMWE
Trousers: ROMWE
Crop Top: Fashion Nova
Shoes: Nike
I know these are from fast fashion places but I bought them a while back before I got into sustainable fashion.
The End?
After we were done with everything, we decided to take some pictures outside while waiting for our ride since it was so beautiful and we hadn’t been able to do that before when we arrived.
Of course, Mistry was making me laugh too hard to take a lot of cute pictures:
And this is one of my favourite pictures because it’s the look of pure joy and bliss:
This may be the end of the post but it’s far from the end! We will most definitely be visiting Serenity Spa again and it wasn’t even the end of our day because we still have some more fun stuff we wanted to do. Can you guess what we did next?? Let me know in the comments below!
I’m so glad I could have this mini-adventure with one of the best people to have a spa day with! It was an amazing experience and as for Serenity Spa, I would highly recommend it to anyone in Nairobi or near Nairobi. Yes, some of the services are pricey but I can say that they are worth it. Their service and quality is honestly impeccable and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning. For more about Serenity Spa please click here.

Glad to here you got some relaxation in!
Thanks, I really needed it for my mental health!
I’m glad that you guys had a great time, they did a fine job on your hands and feet. It seems to me that you are much happier living there than in Canada, Pooja. Be well! ❤️☺️
Thank you so much! As much as I miss Canada, I am having a great time here mostly because it’s so much cheaper to do everything I want to 😂❤️
I see, things are certainly expensive in North America!
So expensive it’s crazy!
What a beautiful experience. Love your spa pictures and wish your right hand gets better soon. Enjoy your cool temperature as I saw you and your friend have autumn clothes on and even a scarf… We are still 90 degrees F. LOL.
Thanks so much. Unfortunately, it will take a few weeks to heal but life goes on. Yes, it’s quite cold here and I’m loving it lol. Hopefully it will cool down there as well by the end of the month.
Such an interesting blog. I am really happy that you went to the spa, because you really needed this. Although, as you have mentioned it’s 2 weeks old, But you did have fun!! I think, you should go to spas more frequently. The massage definitely sound relaxing. I also have to do a lot of sitting and then gym. So, I guess I also need a good massage. Especially, on the neck, shoulders, back and legs.
.
I am satisfied to read this, as I can see a satisfaction and smile in your eyes.
.
Also, as I have made a longer comment, you don’t need to reply to do. I know your fingers are hurt. So, I won’t mind if you skip replying to the comments for a while 🙂
Take good care. Best wishes and keep sharing.
Thanks so much. I’m glad I got a spa day too because I really needed it. The massage was great, I would definitely recommend getting one 😃
I really love such blogs. Long and fun read. I really love your language and description.
.
Also, I wanted to apologise to you Pooja. I realise that, my comment was telling you what to do. I’m really sorry, I have a lot of respect for you 🙇🏻♂️. I hope you get better soon. Best wishes and more power to you.
Thanks and don’t worry I didn’t take it that way at all! 😊
🙏🏼
I’m glad that you finally visit spa… Your nails look pretty too ✨.. Overall I really enjoyed this blog..
Keep posting…
Thanks so much, it was wonderful 😊
This place looks so nice and it sounds like you had a really lovely time. I keep meaning to check out the Roman baths & spa, jn Bath, ironically named after the Roman baths built there lol. I’m funny about people touching me if I don’t know them them though. My Mum hired a make-up artist for my 18th birthday party and she gave me the worst look I’ve ever had so when it comes to pampering now I’m usually a DIY girl hehe. Matt does incredible shoulder rubs though so I’m one happy, spoilt girl 😜
Thanks so much, it was wonderful! Ooh lucky you, if only I had someone to pamper me 😜
I never trust makeup artists because most of them have screwed me so I guess it’s a universal experience lol. That’s why I learnt to do my own makeup 😂
Yeah well, I grind his coffee and clean his home so I think it’s a fair trade? 😂
Yeah she used dark matte shadows on my eyes and I’ve already got quite deep set eyes so it just made them look even deeper lol. I normally use at least a shimmer and possibly even a glitter as well, just to make them stand out a bit. Brown smokey eye with a bronze glitter on the outer corners is probably my go to look, unless it’s a casual daytime thing then it’s just rose gold all over lol. I never used to go for browns and golds bit I tried them out and I was a complete convert haha
Lol yes that’s a fair trade!
Yeah I love a little shine on my eyelids too. I at least use highlighter at the corners to make them look brighter. Not every makeup style sets every person. You need to know what will suit each face and it seems like yours is good with glitter.
Glad we agree! Lol
Ahh I usually use highlighter under my eyebrows because I get a lot of compliments on my eyes lol. Yeah you’re absolutely right and really even your tone and texture can change hoe a look will look on you. Like I’m not one for a Kardashian-style contouring, I’m definitely a less is more kind of girl. I can’t imagine going out with a full face of make-up, I’d feel like I’d got my face painted at the fun fair 😂
Absolutely love the highlighter under the eyebrows look. It’s great for accentuating your eyes.
Not a fan of the Kardashian-style either. For me, less is more when it comes to makeup. I don’t have the time or energy for a full-face of makeup and feel like a more natural look is better anyway.
Absolutely. I tried false eyelashes some months ago because I thought “hey everybody else does them, let’s give them a go”. I even bought some “natural” ones, becauae likewise I prefer a more natural look. What can I say, but that some people are just meant to be mascara-only people? 😂
I’m definitely not a false eyelash person either unless I’m doing a very full-face look which is incredibly rare. Unless it’s like a wedding or something I absolutely refuse to wear fake eyelashes lol. Especially because I wear glasses and fake eyelashes annoy me 😂
Oh no even then I won’t lol. I have a gorgeous navy tea-length royal blue lace dress that I normally wear for weddings so i keep it very minimal and natural lol. I think Kate Middleton inspired me with the whole less is more look, she’s just stunning both inside and out!
Oh wow, the dress sounds lovely! Royal blue is one of my favourite colours.
Thankyou! It’s a colour that I never used to wear (I lived in black 😂) but Matt said he thought navy blue would suit me and it’s been pretty much a go to ever since!
Aww that’s nice! I almost always opt for black clothes but these days I’ve been adding some more colours and even have a few white ones 😱
Ooh white is dangerous! Haha. Why not try some sparkles or patterns too? You just never know what might suit you!
Lol the day I start wearing sparkles is the day you should be concerned about me 😂
Oh no not at all, I’ll just see it that you’ve pledged your allegiance 😈 haha
Haha wowwwww 😂
I love a spa day they are so relaxing, this spa looks amazing xxx
It was incredible, thanks 😁
Never went to a spa, but from reading this it must have been great. In my opinion I wouldn’t go to a spa considering the heat waves the whole world are experiencing right now.
It was a much needed break. I think you mean the heat wave that’s effecting the global North right now not the whole world but I get what you mean. I was happy to find that this spa actually repurposes the water they use in treatments.
I’m happy you a had relaxing day at the with your sister. I’ve never been to a spa, but from your post, I look forward to having a spa day.
Thanks so much and yes do have a spa day when you can. It’s a wonderful experience. If you’re ever in Kenya I’ll take you here 😬
nice write up & cute pics
Thanks so much.
Glad you had a good time. I love a good spa day and relaxation day especially with my sister too x
Thanks so much, it was such a wonderful experience.
Love the mani and pedi. Happy to see you getting some relaxation in. Taking care of yourself is great! 🙂 And no nail chips after two weeks? That’s incredible.
Thanks so much! It was absolutely amazing. I know, it’s been two weeks and my hand and feet are still perfect. I was so shocked. And a manicure if just equivalent to $10 😱
$10 is a great deal! I’m getting ripped off out here. Haha. You’re most welcome! 🙂
Right?? It’s a bit expensive compared to other places here due to the currency difference but luckily I earn my money in dollars so I’m fine with it 😂
This was amazing to read. Now I want a Serenity spa session, lol. Hope you enjoyed your time there
Haha thanks and yes we loved it. If you’re ever in Kenya you should absolutely go.
Even reading this was relaxing 😌
I’m so happy you and your friend were able to enjoy this experience 💖
Aww thanks! It was amazing 😊😬
I didn’t read any of the comments, but I’ll guess you did lunch next 🙂
And it looks like you have reason to go back, once your other hand is ready for its manicure!
Haha yes you’re right!
Yeah I absolutely have to go back soon. It was quite affordable too since it’s only about $10 for a manicure.
I’ve never had a manicure, but that seems reasonable 🙂
Yeah it’s great for the price.
Forgot if I’ve already said this, but I LOVE this kind of post! You two are soooo beautiful, and both your nails turned out perfectly! I’m sure the spa would be so grateful for your feature and review. 🙂
Thanks so much!! It was an amazing experience and I was happy to share the review. If it helps such a wonderful spa I’m happy to write about it!
I have never been to a spa, but always wanted to. I really enjoyed reading this post. So glad you had a great experience.
Thanks so much and you should definitely go if you ever get the chance. This was my first time and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had.
I most definitely will if I get the opportunity. Your description was like everything I had imagined it would be like.
Let me know when you do!
I will do that 😊 It may take a while though, because it’s really expensive here with a spa day😅
Yeah I know, it was too expensive when I was living in Canada but here it’s just like $50 or so. Even less depending on what treatments you do.
Where is it you are living now?
I’m living in Kenya at the moment.
How fun!
Yeah, it’s good to finally be home!
❤️
Interesting!!👍🙂 i hope you must be feeling relaxed now😃 nice photos too, Pooja💕🙂
I am much better now. thanks 😊
That’s great, Pooja👍 stay better 💕🙂
Thank you 💕
What a lovely time it looks like you all had!
It was incredible!
This looks so relaxing and fun!
It was incredible!
Nice to see you and your sister chillin’.

A good time, as deserved! Should do that too sometime
