Terrifying Tuesday

Recently I was talking to a fellow blogger, Haoyan Do, who suggested I should share some of my ghost stories. I have had a busy day today and didn’t have an advice post ready. So I thought I would share one of my ghost stories and do a “Terrifying Tuesday” post. This story is something I experienced in Canada and other people were around who also witnessed it.

How it started…

I don’t know if I truly believe in ghosts. But this experience is something that I still don’t have a reasonable explanation for. My sister had to go to a Winery for an assignment. I’m not going to name it because I don’t want to start any rumours about it. Although it is definitely haunted.

What happened…

So we got dropped off at the winery and we went looking for the event hall because there were literally zero signs around. Behind us was a Canadian couple also looking for the event. In front of us was also an older Canadian couple. Us and the people behind us were just following them at this point. Because we assumed they were going to the event.

We were a little behind the first couple and chatting with the couple behind us because Canadians are just so friendly lol. We keep walking and come to a dead end and the couple in front of us are just gone. All four of us are so shocked because it’s literally just a wall and a huge metal door that’s clearly locked. There is no way they could have opened it and entered before we reached. And we would have heard it opening because it’s one of those metal doors that creak.

Us and the Canadian couple are just standing there for a few minutes and the husband even tried to open the locked door and banged on it. There was nothing. The wife was like “thankfully you guys were here too otherwise no one would have believed us about the couple that just disappeared.”

This is where it gets weird…

Eventually we kept walking and finally found the right place where the event was happening. There was a TINY sign next to the door. All four of us laughed at that and went our separate ways. My sister told me maybe they were ghosts. At first we were just joking about it but it was sort of the only explanation because they literally seemed to vanish into thin air.

When we got home my sister began working on her assignment. She needed to write some information about the place. So she went onto their site and saw a picture of the founders of the winery and it was the couple we saw. She quickly yelled at me to come see them and we realised they had passed on a few years back and were buried in a graveyard near the winery. The graveyard was on the other side of the wall where we had seen them disappear…

It could be that I am mistaken about the whole thing. And have read one too many ghost stories. But I don’t know…

I have so many ghost stories to share so if you enjoyed this one and would like to read more “Terrifying Tuesday” stories, let me know in the comments below and I will share more soon.

  1. Never saw an actual ghost but I’ve heard many old folks say that we’re not alone. That we’re never alone. Have you ever experienced getting a slight poke or kick by something the moment you’re about to fall asleep?👻

    Great share, Pooja!

    1. Haha yes I have experienced that and I always assume it’s a ghost 👻 Thank you!

  2. Wow that would be a freaky experience. I believe in ghosts but haven’t experienced any. However my sister has captured orbs in some of her videos. Great story Pooja.

    1. Wow, how interesting. Yes, it was a pretty freaky experience.

  3. I haven’t ever seen a ghost but I’ve felt their presence. When we were in Tasmania my family visited an old convict settlement which had an asylum – the asylum had been converted into a media centre that shared movies about the history of the settlement. I had chills the entire time and found it very sad and unsettling being in there. After the movie we went through yo another part of the building which is where I found out it used to be an asylum and of all the terribly cruel experiments that had been carried out on some of the unfortunate inmates. Which is how I then understood why the building was so disturbing to me. My husband felt the same way. I think something haunts the remains of some places – whether it is energy or human I don’t know. But I know it’s true.

    1. Yes, in some areas you just know there is something out there are that you’re not alone. I think it happens particularly when something tragic has happened.

Great suggestion from Haoyan. It’s appropriate with it being the heart of October. I believe in ghosts! I actually had my first encounter recently.

I’m also a believer in a God so I’m safe in whatever situation.

    1. That’s so interesting. I would love to hear about your experience.

  5. I can’t say if I 100% believe in ghosts, Pooja, but too many people have reported so many weird things like this over the years that it is good cause for thought. Canadians are indeed very friendly people. I lived in Ontario for one year in the 80s and loved it. Oh Canada! 🇨🇦❤️

    1. Even after many weird experiences I still don’t fully know if I believe in ghosts. It could all just be a weird coincidence.
Canadians are so nice, I loved all my Ontario experiences too 😊

      1. Maybe you can go back to Ontario some day?

        1. I hope to soon, I still have so many friends there I want to visit.

  6. That’s eerie . Sets me thinking.

    1. Yeah it was quite scary.

  7. I never saw a ghost, but this story was really interesting!

    1. Thanks so much.

  8. It literally scares me😳. But I really enjoyed reading.☺️ Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks so much 😊 It was so scary 😳

  9. Thank you for the shout out. That’s very sweet of you. And what a story. And they are ghosts, real ghosts. How fascinating. This is almost like those stories about the Lincoln Bedroom, in which guests often see the ghost of Abraham Lincoln coming and going.

Wait a second. Did the winery hire some look-alikes to pretend to be the founder couple who died? I mean that’s a very good marketing strategy, isn’t it? I mean a haunted winery is more interesting…

    1. Yeah I’ve heard about Lincoln’s ghost. I wonder if you’re more likely to see him if you already believe in ghosts.

It could be but where did the lookalikes disappear to??

  10. I never believe in ghosts but it interests me to know about the real-life experience of other people with ghosts.
This was interesting, thanks for sharing Pooja

    1. Thanks so much.

  11. Freaky! To say the least.

    1. It was really freaky!

  12. Freaky!!! I definitely believe in ghosts. I Would love to read more of your ghost stories!

    1. Yeah very freaky, we were so scared! More coming soon!

  13. I have never experienced ghosts, but your story was amazing.

    1. Thanks so much.

  14. That’s spooky and fortunately has never happened to me. I can imagine that being an interesting experience to say the least.

    1. It was interesting but also really scary.

  15. Freaky. That would have scared me!

    1. We were absolutely terrified!

  16. Oh my god I have never experienced anything like this. It’s really scary. I’m happy that you safely reached your house and not get hurt.
Please post more ghosts stories that you have experienced.

    1. Yeah it was so scary. Will be sharing more soon.

      1. Yesss… I’ll be waiting for more 😄

  17. Although I’ve not actually seen a ghost( or at least remember lol) I do believe in the spirit realm. Neat story, Pooja. Please tell us more 🙂

    1. I believe more in spirits than ghosts too but this was something so crazy I was terrified.

  18. I had brief separate encounters with my Mother and Father after their deaths. One soon after and one many months after their deaths. The problem is that I did not happen to have a team of scientists and journalists with me at the time to validate the experiences. Nowadays it seems pointless to try to discuss such matters. There are roaming debunkers, ridiculers, hostile elite scientists, and rampant hoaxers and con artists & criminals etc. Too much noise to distinguish real events. Even when careful controlled experiments were done on such subjects, it was still rejected by the Mainstream, and anyone doing even a legitimate experiment had their careers ruined. Similarly, Out-of-body experiences looked promising for a while. But that was eventually shunned and ridiculed. They did an experiment where a tray of objects was hoisted up near the ceiling of a hospital room and they waited for patients who were recorded as showing no brain activity and then brought back to life. Of those, they interviewed ones who had an out-of-body experience. They asked them if when they were floating above their bodies, if they saw the objects in the tray near the ceiling. They did and identified the objects correctly. It was a double-blind study — that is, the ones doing the experiment were not told what the objects were, and neither were the staff told. Anyway, many such controlled studies were done but just faded away and were rejected by neglect.

    1. How interesting. I think a lot of people have those kind of experiences when people they are very close to move on. That’s a fascinating study but yes science has moved far from these sort of things.

  19. Guess the former owners like you guys, they were inviting you to come to their place to chill?!!

    1. Oh my God😭😭

    2. Ummm I hope not lol! 😂

  20. Pooja, my jaw literally dropped the moment it was revealed that the couple was dead! Like, how did that even happen??😭

Ghost stories actually terrify me, but it’s better than horror movies, so yes, I would love it if you shared more.

    1. You have no idea how much we freaked out when we saw the couples picture on their site. It was so freaky. Haha will definitely be sharing more soon.

  21. I don’t ever want to encounter a ghost.🙅🏾‍♀️ I’ve heard real life encounters with ghosts and they’re always creepy. You must be really brave because I’d leave Canada the next day. The story was so interesting. It would make a good horror movie.

    1. Oh you’re so funny 😂 you’ve just made me laugh. I think I agree with you. I won’t leave Canada tho

      1. Really, thanks ♥️.

    2. I hope you never encounter a ghost. I have had some insanely scary and terrifying experiences with them. Thanks, maybe someone will try to buy this experience from me someday lol. And turn it into a movie 😂👻

  22. That’s an excellent ghost story! Please write and post more! I remember my husband’s grandmother coming to me while I was asleep. It was like flickering lights swirling around me but I felt her presence. The next morning I learned she had died that night.

    1. Thanks so much, more coming soon! Wow, that’s really interesting. I think I’ve heard a lot of people experience things like that when a loved one moves on.

  23. That’s super interesting and eerie. I believe in ghosts, I am fairly certain that I have seen one, and pretty much my entire family would corroborate that the first two houses I lived in as a kid were haunted.

    1. Thanks so much. Wow, really interesting. I hope you share your ghost stories on your blog too.

      1. I’m not sure they’re interesting enough to share. My personal experience was waking up at the age of 10 and seeing a shadowy man watching me from the doorway of my bedroom. I had the feeling of being watched often, as did the other members of my family. My mother repainted cabinet doors once and felt an angry energy in the room with her. The previous (now deceased) owner of the house had apparently really liked his wooden cabinets. My mom spoke out into the silence that she was doing it and said why and she said the feeling of an angry presence went away. There were several things like that.

At the house I lived in prior to that, toys, shoes, etc., would disappear and then randomly reappear somewhere unexpected (and somewhere that none of the children could have reached on our own.) It was spooky but not scary, if that makes sense. In that house, a little girl had died a few decades prior. So the theory was that it was her.

        1. Hmm those are quite interesting. The girl one makes sense since she was probably interested in the toys and shoes.

          1. Yeah. That’s definitely the theory my family had.

Generally it all makes me pretty interested in the fact that so many different places in the world have similar afterlife beliefs re: “a place of the dead.” The Hebrews (Sheol), Greeks (Hades), several American indigenous tribes, etc., all have similar places in their belief systems. They aren’t exactly alike, obviously, but there’s enough in common that it makes you wonder.

            1. True, I always find it interesting to learn about people who have similar theories. Especially when they are in different parts of the world and could not have had contact.

              1. Exactly. Why would regions all over the world have similar afterlife beliefs, similar “great flood” myths and giant myths, why were pyramids built in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia, etc. It really makes you think.

                1. It’s so fascinating since there is no way they could have had contact with one another and yet they came up with such similar ideas.

                  1. Or… at least we don’t think they had contact. But there are weird facts in all of that. Ancient trade routes spanned a lot of the globe (British tin travelled throughout Europe, peacocks native to India were in Spain in ancient times) – so even if the two ends of a trade route did not interact directly, their ideas might travel. I also sometimes wonder if there was a nation at some point in the distant past who could sail better and farther than the nations who followed them. There is allegedly polynesian DNA strains in the native populations of South America.
There was a story several years ago about mummies in Egypt found with cocaine which is native to the Americas. So who knows?

Alternatively, maybe people all over the world end up with the same ideas about the afterlife because everyone has the same experiences.

                    1. Yeah I’ve heard about the cocaine which is so fascinating. I guess certain travel routes did exist we just don’t know enough about them.

  24. Really creepy and frightening. How do stuffs like this just happen?😲 I’ve heard true-life wierd stories of individuals who died (dead & buried) and then appeared elsewhere, got married and had kids, only to be recognized years later by people who knew them as dead. At this point of recognition they disappear into thin air, never to be seen again. I do wonder what becomes of the other spouse and the kids.

    1. I’ve heard a couple of those stories too and find them really freaky. I would be so scared to learn someone I know has been dead for years.

  25. I definitely believe. I don’t think they meant any harm I think they were just interested in going to the event too. I’ve had experiences of manifestations of sounds but not full on visuals like that. I’m quite envious.

    1. Yeah they were definitely not trying to harm us at all. I think they just roam the grounds because the winery meant so much to them.

  26. I find it really difficult to believe ghost stories, it freaks me out and oh God, I don’t ever wanna witness such, because the Bible says KJV:And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
    It leaves me puzzled.

    1. Yeah it’s a scary experience. I hope you never experience anything related to ghosts.

  27. Whaaaaatttttt!!!!

    1. Yup, it was a crazy experience!

    1. It really was 👻

  28. Creepy I got chills from that! lol

    1. Lol thank you!

  29. I have been seeing spirits all of my life since I was a kid, and have even talked to them, and still do to this day. It’s nothing to be afraid of though. Where I work, I see them all of the time. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Wow, really interesting. I agree, most spirits don’t want to harm us so there isn’t anything to be afraid of.

  30. Ohhh this sounds compelling Pooja… can’t wait for more. Boo👻

    1. Thank you 👻

      1. Yes, of course.. 🥰

  31. You gave me goosebumps…creepy 👻.

    1. Yup it was soooo creepy 👻😳

  32. 😥😥😥!! i don’t believe in ghosts but after your story hmmm 🤔 I will give it a thought.

    1. Haha yeah I don’t know if this was a weird coincidence but I genuinely think it was a ghost sighting 👻

  33. I too am a ghost agnostic (Not fully convinced either way). Seems like there are some truly meaningful coincidences and impossible sightings to explain fully. This leads us the question of whether the explanation should be ghosts. I haven’t got a story as good as this, but have seen what I could only really describe as a ghost before.
Thanks for the interesting post, particularly appropriate with Halloween approaching.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I still don’t know if it was ghosts but I feel like that is the only explanation that makes sense.

  34. Never experienced or encountered anything ghostly. I don’t believe them 🙂
I believe in God and if there’s anything strong and powerful, that’s God 😃
If for one percent there’s something spooky, it will not harm me until I have belief 😀

    1. Haha that’s good. I don’t know if I fully believe in ghosts but I do partially since I have had so many unexplainable experiences.

  35. Girl!!!! These type of things have happened to me all my life. I truly believe that you saw a ghost! This reminds me of something that happened to me last month, I will share it next week.

    1. I’ve had many experiences like that too and I look forward to reading about your experience too!

      1. You give me son any awesome reminders about my past. And they make for wonderful stories. Can’t wait to hear more of yours as well💖

        1. I’m happy to hear that and thank you!

          1. You’re so welcome! ☺️

  36. Excellent
    Thanks

    1. Thank you.

  37. I have a friend who is a ghost chaser. I wish I could remember some ofv his stories But this is good!! 🤣😎🙃

    1. Ooh very interesting, you should share his stories for Halloween if you remember any.

      1. I’ll have to ask 🤣😎🙃

  38. Wow, this experience is scary, I definitely believe in ghosts existence. Many strange things are happening in the world. Good thing to share 😇

    1. It was super scary and I honestly don’t know how to explain the experience except a ghost sighting. Thank you.

  39. Good story. There are many mysteries we cannot explain and probably shouldn’t be so egocentric as a human race to think we can! My spooky experience was going on holiday to Normandy and visiting the D-Day landing beaches (where, in the WW II allied troops were trapped with their backs against the sea by advancing German armies, who shelled them relentlessly in their trapped location. Fleets of small boats set off from Dunkirk, UK to rescue as many as they could, but thousands perished.). At the time my daughters were 3 and 5 years old. Although it was a lovely sunny day and the beaches looked golden and beautiful my daughters would not play on them and wanted to ‘leave the death beaches mummy’. They were too young to have understood the history but detected instead some kind of ghostly emotional echo of the place. To this day we refer to the holiday as the one of the ‘death day beaches.’

    1. Wow, that’s so scary. I think sometimes children feel it more than adults when there is some kind of energy around.

    1. It was a very scary experience!

  40. Great chilling ghost story! Brrr – thanks for sharing it 🙂

    1. Thanks so much!
