How Many Of My Goals Did I Keep This Year?

How Many Of My Goals Did I Keep This Year?

I have been going through my goals for the past couple of years and seeing what I actually accomplished at the end of the year. I feel like that helps me stick with the goals and do better. And it tells me what areas I need to improve in. So how many of my goals did I keep this year? Read on to find out!

Ps. You may want to read my goals for 2022 post before reading this one to help make more sense of this post.

Try Harder

Okay, this one I kept! I tend to give up on things when I can’t be perfect at it and that’s something I worked on this year. I tried much harder with work, blogging and life. This is one goal I fully kept!

Love Myself

Eh. Okay, I tried. I did. But there were moments when I truly loathed myself. Something I need to keep working on I guess.

Grow Down

Yes, this was another successful goal! I wanted to grow down and live life to the fullest like a child would. I did some things I have wanted to do ever since I was a child. Like get a guitar, can’t wait to start learning it soon.

Travel?

Again, eh. I tried to travel locally and that was successful. I have been going to fun places in Kenya and you can view those experiences by clicking here. But I couldn’t travel as much as a I wanted to and not out of Nairobi so that is something I want to do next year.

Blog Better

Did I achieve this one? Let me know in the comments below!

Be Okay With Not Being Okay

Yeah, I’m working on this one but I think I’m improving and therapy is helping a lot.

Stop Saying “Sorry” And “Thank You”

Not like completely. Just like unnecessarily. And that didn’t change this year. I still say both way too much lol.

Write A Book

Does writing like half a book and than starting on two new ones count?

Communicate Better

Nope. Did not achieve this. Made some awful decisions instead of just communicating like a normal human being. Definitely something I need to keep working on.

Breathe

Yes and no. I did sort of give myself time to relax but also not as much as I should have.

Conclusion

I’m happy with how many goals I kept this year. Yes, I didn’t achieve everything I wanted to but at the same time I think I’m moving in the right direction. I am happy with my progress in 2022 and I think at the end of the day that’s what matters- that you’re progressing. And yeah I didn’t keep some goals but life happens and there is always next year!

  1. Amazing work, Pooja. Happy new year! Xx

    1. Thank you so much, happy New Year!

  2. Wait! What? Was I supposed to set goals? Aw crap! Failed again.

    1. Oh no, did you forget again? 😂

  3. Relax. I don’t think normal people communicate any better than you do. As far as did your blogging improve this year, I’m just a few days shy of being back on WordPress for three months. Yeah, I think wtiting part of three books equals a book. You done good.

    1. Thanks. Yeah I think most people struggle with communication although I feel I struggle more than the average person. But that just might be me being too hard on myself.

  4. Wow, your goals were great and so good to hear that you achieved some of them, some you’re working on, and still pursuing some! I like “grow down”; never heard of that one and it’s an admirable one.
I think your blogging was good this year! You challenged your readers to connect with you and that’s what got me started talking with you. At first I felt like it would be hard to connect with you since you have so many readers, but how you connect with readers is personable. And thanks for the tips on SEO, although I’m still not adept at it. I try to write more tags to my blog posts though.
    Happy New Year!!

    1. You know what I thought the same that it’s hard to connect with her, as the number of followers she has is huge. But she replies to every comment, anywhere on wp. Even if I drop random comments on her old blogs, she replied them and even multiple times.
Plus she never misses the blogs on people she’s following, no matter how many people she’s following, she give to everyone.
If that’s not a good communicator, I don’t know what is.
Btw how are you feeling? Yes ,I asked this question to you 😃

      1. Thanks Devang for the comment! Yes, I agree with you that Pooja is a good and consistent communicator. I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that resistance to reach out to her with her number of followers and that she is personable. I’m trying to do the same too and that the commenter is a real person on the other side of the computer.
Uhhh, are you asking me how I’m feeling? Couldn’t tell, but I’ll answer anyway. 🙂 Happy to be home with my family in this rainy weather and nice to have some quiet time to read blogs and catch up. I’m also wondering what my new year goals will be! I want them to be productive and empowering and not just a bunch of stuff that’ll fail by the end of January.
        How about you?

        1. Yes, I did asked to you 🌟
Oh so you have rainy weather ? Here it’s cold. I wish you strength and success. 😀

          1. Lol…well, I took the liberty and answered anyway.
In CA, we’re usually in a long drought with dried lawns and yellow mountains, but this season has brought much rain and will continue for rain for a few more days. Wow! It’s so refreshing. Where do you live?
Thank you for your kind words, and wishing you the same too. Happy New Year!

            1. I’m from India. It’s good to know about rain in a place which is usually dry 😃.
My city is also called lake city we have 7 lakes here. Have a peaceful and happy new year 🌟🌀💥

              1. Happy to connect with you from California to India!

    2. Thanks so much. Yeah grow down is one I’m sticking with this year as well.
Haha so glad you decided to reach out anyway. I’ve enjoyed chatting with you in the comments.
      Happy New Year!

      1. With each year of getting older, I think it’s important to “grow down” and keep that childlike perspective.
Thanks for chatting too! It’s fun to build community here on WP.

        1. I totally agree, as we get older it’s easy to lose our childlike perspective so it’s something we need to consciously work on.

  5. I cannot say much about your personal life, but as a blogger phenomenal PG has succeeded. I’ve read your 2021 blog, and I can say that yes there are many things you’ve achieved
Like yes you are blogging 6 days a week and you are giving a great variety. Like, whenever I read your work, I cannot say it’s written by single person. Yes, you do have a writting style, but you are giving terrific variety and it always keeps the readers engaged.
One can never get bored at LIFESFINEWHINE because the fun and variety you bring is unmatchable.
You are also consistently eating healthy, not because of any goal but for feel good and that’s a good sign of self love.
In past some aunties tried to body shame you, but you were confident then and didn’t let it bother you(btw you are pretty).
One thing I feel about you is, you love yourself more now, and not doing anything to change yourself. When people try to change themselves (physically), sometimes that means they are not satisfied with themselves. But, I know whatever you are doing is for feel good, so that’s self love isn’t it.
    .
You’ve visited some good places like level 24, twice, that spa experience or that Buddha restaurant (the one with pink sofas), that shows that you are enjoying some good times and I hope you do that more often and find decent time to travel outside.
    .
You’ve also started new buisness venture with your sister. That’s beginning of something amazing.
    .
You are inspiring so many people, guiding them(me included) and helping them to become a better blogger (again me included). That’s a win ☺️
    .
Sending you lots of positivity energy and smile dear friend 🔥🌀💥🤗
    .
Ps – don’t blame me for lengthy comment, your blogs are only place where I talk god knows what 😝

    1. Thanks so much. I try to have a little something for everyone. So that people don’t get bored of reading the same thing.
I definitely like myself more and feel more confident than I have before. I’m happy about the progress with that.
Thanks so much and of course I enjoy your long comments 😅

      1. Keep writing!
Enjoy your time with smile 😊

  6. Communication is not an easy one. I think I didn’t get better at it either. However, I found a really great audiobook that helped me so much, like mental health kind of help. This is probably the biggest achievement for me this year, working through these exercises helped me get in touch with myself, not so much with others : ))))) Anyways, here is the link:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZAa8M_sNa4
this book had a cleansing effect on me, hopefully, I am not the only one benefitting from it. About other goals, I can tell you I travelled way too much in 2022, yet I don’t know if this made me a better person. I mean when you do what you want not many people think it’s okay, it made lots of my friends and family super jealous. As a result, I lost a lot of them, I mean we are not friends any more. It’s kind of sad honestly, but what can i do? It’s too late now, I can’t untravel the time and undo the cool things I did. Oh well… Life is too short to eat green bananas. Looking for approval is sort of a waste of time, if you know what I mean. Finding new friends and starting my life anew are my goals for 2023. It’s easy when you truly love yourself and never grow up.

    1. Thanks so much, that’s really helpful. I’ll definitely check it out. I do struggle with communicating quite a lot so I’ll take what I can get.
It’s better to travel too much and be happy rather than please others and be unhappy. I pissed off a few family members recently because of the same reason lol. Even though I travelled locally. So if it makes you feel better we’re on the same boat.

      1. Thank you for sharing that. I hope this too shall pass and things get back to normal.

        1. I have no doubt it will. Thanks.

  7. Blog Better
You are writing great posts. I think you can become a good writer too.

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate that.

  8. Amazing work with your goals, Pooja! Happy New Year! 🥳💕

    1. Thanks and happy New Year! 😊

      1. Thank you! 💕

        1. You’re welcome!

  9. I’m new… But I will add that your blogs are great 😁🤍helpful, insightful and fun… Thanks Pooja… 🤗

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate that 😊

      1. Pleasures… 🤍

  10. Great work, Pooja!!
A big shout out to you.
Also, all the best for 2023😊

    1. Thanks so much and wishing you the best for 2023 too 😊

  11. I have yet to assess how I did or to think about the year ahead. I always hope to achieve more than I’m able to but I’ve come to accept that. I think you’re doing wonderfully Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m the same way but this year I just decided to be happy with what I achieved and let go of the rest.

  12. That’s the way, Pooja and well done – life is in progress, we should never forget that. Never be hard on yourself (this from someone who is learning how not to be a perfectionist 🤣).

My thoughts are your blog is on the up and up – definitely noticeable. I have also appreciated your comments this year, both here and on my blog. In terms of some randomness – watch the kdrama “Under The Queen’s Umbrella.” I think you might like it ☺️

    1. Thanks so much, totally agree. From one perfectionist to another 😂

Thanks so much and that kdrama is already on my life. Can’t wait to watch it.

  13. Seems like you and I have a “sorry” problem! I wasn’t around for your blog for a part of this year, but for the time I was around, I can confirm you did a fantastic job. And, you wrote! That alone is an achievement. I can’t wait to see what you have for us (and yourself) next year. I really hope you finish that book because I’m dying to see it!

    Great job, Pooja!👏

    1. Haha something we have to work on I guess! Thanks so much and hopefully at least one book will be out next year!

      1. You’re welcome!

  14. Ahh glad you’re happy overall! You definitely have blogged better – as expected 😆 And I love the goal of not saying sorry too much, I’m definitely going to try and work on that too!

    1. Haha thanks so much, something we both need to work on lol! 😂

  15. Love the honesty of this. You seem to be getting on nicely with your childhood dreams. Communication can be very hard for people who think differently sometimes. I think sometimes having the goal is more important than reaching it because you need to accept the challenge is there to trial solutions to it 🙂 FYI I can’t comment on your blogging before this year but do think it is improving nicely due to engaging content and popularity

    1. Thanks so much. I agree, I think I tend to have different opinions than the majority and that sort of messes me up a bit.

      1. Bless you. I know what you mean there. Isn’t easy to take others opinions objectively when it relates to something personal. Especially when you don’t agree …

        1. Absolutely, it’s so difficult to stay calm and neutral in such situations.

          1. Very true. I wish you a happy new year 🙂

            1. Happy New Year 🙂

  16. Yes to blogging…you have captured me and many others with your words. 😊 I find your goals interesting and so different from mine. Mine follow the SMART method where there is a measurable result, where yours is more mindset/personal growth. I’m thinking, maybe that is something this Type A person needs to incorporate into her goals setting. Thank you so much for the insight Pooja!

    1. Thanks so much! I did the ‘SMART” goals for a bit but I felt like I needed something different and these sort of goals seem to help. Feel free to steal some of them lol!

  17. Another inspirational article that has inspired me, I am going to plan my new year goals today thanks to you motivating me

    1. Thank you so much, let me know some of them when you do.

      1. I sure will my friend, right now I am ponding on some new ideas

  18. Journey to achieve something is more important than the end result. If you are making progress towards your goals, then you are on the right track, no matter how much you have actually achieved.
Setting some life goals is itself a nice thing, as many people have no goals in life and thus lead an aimless life.
You are doing a wonderful job in blogging and inspiring many people to take blogging as a serious matter. Definitely your success is the result of years of hardwork, dedication and perseverance. Wish you more success in the new year.
You also need to focus more on your physical and mental health in the days ahead.
Good wishes for the new year!

    1. Thanks so much. I absolutely agree. Progress is more important than achieving goals because not everything is instantly achievable. All the best for the New Year!

  19. Blogging? You exceeded your goal!! Thank you for the insightful posts you continue to give us. You’re doing amazing and I can’t wait to see what other goals you crush in 2023 ❤️

    1. Thanks so much! Really appreciate your kind words 😊

  20. Love your authenticity and vulnerability, Pooja. You are an inspiration and role-model for all of us. Thank you!

    1. Thanks so much, that’s so sweet of you to say!

  21. It was so nice to read that you seem satisfied with how much you achieved this year, and what you’re going to keep on doing next year. I have yet to write down my goals but for now I’m looking back to see what I may need to do ahead! Great post, Pooja!

    1. Thanks so much and yes looking back and learning from those mistakes helps make better goals!

  22. Lovely blog as usual so you’re doing great there. I made some progress with some of my goals and some I didn’t touch on. But I will keep going at them next year. Somehow I didn’t realize that you’re in Kenya, I’ll follow you Instagram to see more of those pictures. It’s a beautiful country and I hope to visit one day.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, the goals you couldn’t get to can be goals for next year. Yes, Kenya is a beautiful country you should definitely visit someday. I actually have a travel business and can plan your trip and get you the best prices. If you ever decide to visit do let me know.

  23. You’ve done an amazing job, girl!
Loving myself was on my list too but it’s just difficult you know. I feel so envious of people who make it look so effortless to be in love with yourself. But we live and learn and with age I’ve found it easier to love myself.
Blog better? I think you’re already blogging at the highest possible level!!!
    Happy New year!

    1. Thanks so much!
Yes, it’s easier said than done. Loving oneself does seem impossible sometimes. But of course it is possible and we have to keep trying! Haha thanks but I want to blog even better because sometimes I drop the ball 😅 Happy New Year!

  24. Hi Pooja,

It makes me happy to be able to help people around me and receiving their positive feedback.

I would like to more work in this direction.

    💬 Blog Better

Did I achieve this one? Let me know in the comments below!

Yes, Yes! You are writing amazing blogs, I believe.😊

    💬 Write A Book

Does writing like half a book and than starting on two new ones count?

Writing a complete book with multiple revisions & proofreading counts.

    Don’t be lazy. Shouldn’t you??🙃🥱

    1. That’s a great thing to work on in 2023. Good luck.

Thanks so much, happy that you feel that way. Haha yes I need to work on the books soon 😅

  25. The good thing with goals is you can move the goal post … you’ve got 2023 to meet the others. Good job on the ones you’ve completed. 👏

    1. Yup absolutely, I still have time to continue working on the goals I couldn’t achieve this year. Thank you 😊

  26. All the best for your new goals that you will have in new yr.

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You’re welcome ☺️

  27. whats a goal?
    is it like a jael

    1. Depends on how you look at it I guess.

      1. deeply my dear

  28. Definitely stealing! Especially as it relates to personal growth, which is never a once and done.

    1. Yeah definitely, it’s more of a long term goal. Feel free to steal any you like!

  29. Life certainly happens, but you have obviously done really well!

    1. Thank you so much!

  30. I think overall you worked on being better and you did a great job. I always enjoy your writing.

    1. Yeah I’m happy with my progress this year. Thanks so much.

  31. I’ve always got a goal to write a book, and this time, while not finished, I have made more progress than I ever have before. This year, my goal is to finish it!

    1. That’s amazing, any progress is great! I really hope you achieve your goal and are able to finish your book in 2023.

  32. I would like to add my 2 cents by saying that I think you’re a little hard on yourself regarding communicating. I looked at what you wrote about that in your list for 2022 and I sure don’t think you’re worse than most people. I get that it may be easier to write feelings in a piece than when you’re emotionally charged and in-person with someone, I think we all (or most) have room to improve regarding direct communication. I have been impressed with your insight and your willingness to communicate and be vulnerable expressing difficult emotional feelings and states. You deserve congratulations! Happy 2023!

    1. Thanks so much, I do have a tendency to be particularly harsh on myself. My therapist has mentioned that too. Believe it or not, this was me being kinder to myself than I have been in years. Thank you so much and happy 2023!

  33. You did good, and starting writing your books is great, you have to start somewhere, so yes it counts. I accomplished a few of my goals this year, but I think I can do better this coming year. Hopefully I will have my second book finished if all goes well. Keep up the good work and everything will work out. See ya next year. Stay safe.

    1. Thanks so much. I wish you the best for next year and hope you achieve even more of your goals.

  34. What’s growing down? Enjoying yourself?

    1. Yeah but like enjoying stuff you enjoyed as a kid.

  35. […] you may know If you have been following this blog since 2022, I have been trying to write a book. I actually started it in 2021. But of course, you can’t force the process and I write when […]

  36. Happy New Year Pooja. Other than the usual eat better and lose weight goal every year that never works out, I usually didn’t make goals but this time I have written down a few small goals. So let’s see if I can meet them this year.

    1. Happy New Year to you as well. I wish you all the best with your goals this year even if they’re small ones.

        1. My pleasure.

  37. I like the “grow down” concept and from your blogs I’ve read, your blogs are good. Don’t know if they’re better than before I started reading but they’re good.

    1. Thanks so much, “grow down” is one I’m constantly working on.

  38. I think you did just great, Pooja.
Some things are a lifelong process and we already achieve a lot when we see them and move in the right direction one step at a time.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah that’s true, some of these are more longterm.

  39. That’s very brave of you. And congratulations on achieving those goals of self care and self love, at least to a certain extent. It is great. Yes, you wrote more than one book. That’s such an accomplishment. And yes, for communication, I think I am an expert in miscommunication and misconception. LOL. And expert in doubt and misgiving…

    1. Thanks so much. Lol we can both be awful communicators together. It’s something I am constantly working on but still find myself bad at.

  40. Great post! I think you did great in 2022!

    1. Thank you so much!
