Highlights Of 2022
Well, it is officially the last couple of days of 2022. I keep saying this but 2022 has just flown by. It is insane to think that it is already the end of the year and 2023 is going to start soon. Since it is officially the end of the year whether I want to admit it or not, I thought I would share some highlights of 2022. I feel like I have really moved in the right direction towards many of my gaols this year. And I am proud of myself for that. So here are my favourite highlights of 2022.
Getting Published In A Magazine
I have to start with my biggest accomplishment and highlight of 2022: getting published in a magazine. This was the most exciting this that has happened to me in my writing career. Except this blog of course. But for like actual writing, this was a huge step for me in the right direction. I really hope I get more writing opportunities like this one in 2023. You can check out the post I wrote about getting published by clicking here.
Going To The Spa For The First Time
I wrote a post in July about how I wanted to go to a spa since I had never been to one. And luckily I was able to do just that with my bestie. She had just finished her final exams (she’s a dentist now you guys!) and I wanted to treat her to a relaxing experience. So we went to Serenity Spa and it was everything we could ask for and more. This was definitely another major highlight of 2022.
Celebrations With The Family
I talked about this in my Diwali and Happy Holidays posts, but I haven’t been able to celebrate things with my family for quite a while now. For those of you that don’t know, I was living in Canada for the last few years and only moved back to Kenya in 2022. This year I got to celebrate everything with family like birthdays, holidays etc. It was really a wonderful thing.
Created Two Businesses From Scratch
Okay, technically I created one business and co-created the other. At the start of the year I really did not know what I wanted to do as a career. I was pretty lost. I have a degree in liberal arts and I’m a history major. So not a lot of job options in the market lol. And even if they were, I knew I wanted to work for myself and have the freedom of doing exactly what I want to do.
I thought about it long and hard and eventually I realised the things I was really passionate about were blogging and writing. So I decided to pursue work in that field. I created my Lifesfinewhine’s services page and began offering services I knew bloggers were looking for (and asked me about frequently). This was a huge success for me and I couldn’t be more thankful. If it wasn’t for Lifesfinewhine and my wonderful Lifesfinewhiners I would never have had this opportunity.
More recently I co-created a travel business with my sister called Clickatripafrica. We organise trips for those looking to travel in Africa. We partnered with lots of different people and offer a large variety of experiences and destinations. To be fair, my sister put in a lot more work for this business than I did but I’m still a partner and I’m still going to count it as a highlight lol!
Getting A Haircut
This may not sound like a big deal to most. And definitely not so much so that it makes my highlight post. But I actually advent gotten a professional haircut in so many years and finally I got one this year. I think it’s been like at least half a decade I’ve been cutting my own hair. So this was a very exciting and also scary experience. But I wanted a complicated hairstyle this time with bangs and knew I would mess it up if I did it myself. And to be honest I’m very happy with the results.
Conclusion
These are officially my highlights of 2022. These moments are what really stand out to me when I look back at this year. This year has been filled with firsts and has certainly had its ups and downs. But overall, it was a very productive year. Minus the month I was sick lol. Other than that, it’s been pretty great.
