Six TV Shows You Need To Watch This Summer

As someone who has social anxiety and therefore has a lot of free time on my hands, I love TV shows and watch a lot of them. I think they’re a fun escape from real life. So, I decided to share some TV shows you need to watch this summer that I have really enjoyed thoroughly:

Beef

Beef (TV Series 2023–)

Beef is one of the best shows I’ve seen recently. The biggest thing for me is that the plot is really original. The show revolves around two people who begin projecting on one another. It’s funny, amusing, dramatic, touching and pretty much touches most genres/categories. I found every episode to be interesting and there were quite a few plot twists. The show also deals with some very real issues in an interesting way.

My rating: 4.5/5

The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd (TV Series 2006–2013)

I wanted to add The IT Crowd to the list because it’s one of the best comedy shows I’ve ever seen and yet for whatever reason it’s not very well known. It’s a British show revolving around the IT department of a company. The main characters are amusing, eccentric and get themselves into the craziest situations. If you haven’t seen this show and won’t be watching any other show I mentioned, please watch this one. It’s amazing and I feel like almost everyone will enjoy it.

My rating: 4.8/5

Lies Hidden In My Garden

Lies Hidden in My Garden

I just recently started watching this K-drama with my sister and have really been enjoying it. However, Lies Hidden In My Garden is slow so if you like more fast paced shows this is probably not the show for you. The shows central theme is domestic abuse and the different types of abuse that people face. There’s also a somewhat interesting murder mystery and the actors do a great job. The show isn’t done yet but so far it’s been really interesting.

My rating: 3/5

Only Murders In The Building

Only Murders in the Building

You’ve probably heard of Only Murders In The Building before since it’s become quite popular. I’ve even talked about both season one and season two on this blog. And I’m waiting for season three. It’s coming out in August which means you still have enough time to binge watch season one and two.

The plot revolves around three residents in a building where a murder takes place. Slowly, they start investigating it together leading to many secrets of their own being revealed. The show is very fast paced, interesting, funny, touching and more. Would highly recommend it to any murder mystery fans out there.

My rating: 4.6/5

Why Women Kill

Why Women Kill (TV Series 2019–2021)

Why Women Kill is one of Marc Cherry’s less known shows. You probably know his most popular show, Desperate Housewives. Which according to my sister is also very good. But that’s not what this is about. I started watching this show a while back and really enjoyed it. It got cancelled and only has two seasons. However, each season revolves around a new murder so it’s not like you’ll be left hanging. Again, for those of you who like this genre I would very much recommend it.

My rating: 4/5

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

It’s Always Sunny is probably one of my favourite shows of all time if not my favourite show. It has remained consistently funny even after almost two decades. The characters are hilarious, the episodes are always hilarious and since the actors/creators of the show are involved in the writing it doesn’t deviate from what made it funny at the start. Again, this show isn’t well know (although it’s become more famous over the years). At least I don’t think it’s as well known as it should be.

The show revolves around a group of horrible people who live their lives in the most inconvenient way possible. It’s a show about bad people the same way Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm is. If you’re a fan of that kind of show, I would so recommend this one. However, it’s not for the lighthearted. If you are someone who is easily offended I wouldn’t watch this show.

My rating: 4.9/5

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed this post. It’s a little different than what I usually share. But I love TV and wanted to share some of my favourite shows with you guys. Currently I’m watching Season two of The Afterparty and I quite like it so far. I’ll share my full review when I’m done with it. Until then, I would recommend these TV shows before summer ends.

Should I share more movie or TV show related content? Have you seen any of the shows I mentioned? If so, did you enjoy them? Are you planning on watching any of the shows I mentioned? What TV show or TV shows are you watching this summer? What TV shows are a must watch this summer that you would add to the list? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Wow, I have heard of some of these movies but haven’t seen any of them. 🤭

    1. Would definitely recommend them 😊

  2. Neat seeing some of the old school actors back on. Don’t get to see new shows so much.

    1. Yeah, those old actors are amazing. Especially Danny DeVito, Love him.

      1. Apparently he is a very nice man. At least I remember seeing something some years ago.

        1. You can definitely tell he’s a down to earth person. I was watching a podcast episode with him as a guest and he seems really nice.

  3. I haven’t seen any of them.. but I’ll watch..
    Must watch.
    Stranger things
    Money heist
    Bridgeton

    1. Have you seen money heist korea?
      That’s great too

      1. No, I haven’t seen it.. but if you are saying it is good, then I’ll watch

        1. Maybe the plot is same

          I haven’t seen Spain one
But I heard the name of characters are same
          Like Denver, tokyo, etc.
          I really liked korea one.

          1. Omg !! Really, you haven’t seen the original season … please go and watch today.. it is un replaceable

            1. My watch list is already huge!
I got curious of korea one, so I watch it anyway. It has very few eps.

              What are you currently watching?

              1. The witcher 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    2. I absolutely love Bridgerton. Haven’t seen the rest but I’ll keep them in mind.

  4. I added Beef to my Netflix list! Looking forward to watching it!

    1. It’s so good and totally unique, I was very impressed!

  5. I loved Beef so much i watched the whole thing twice. It gets a little surreal in the last episode but it’s great commentary on how hatred only hurts yourself

    1. I loved Beef too, such a great show. And true, it deals with so much real life stuff and their message about hate/anger is on point.

      1. I immediately fall in love with series’ that go from hilarious to incredibly dark and poignant every time 😅

        1. Same here 😅

  6. I don’t watch TV. It’s interesting to see what shows are out there though.

    1. Wow, that’s really interesting. What made you decide to stop watching TV?

      1. Didn’t really like what they were showing on TV. I prefer YouTube because I can search by topic and I prefer educational content.

        1. That totally makes sense.

          1. Forgot to mention also that my schedule became too busy to watch shows with weekly episodes. It’s been years now since I stopped watching TV so when you asked my reasoning, I couldn’t remember. 🙂

            1. Oh I see, I understand now though.

        2. Actually same here Vanya! Me too😊

    2. I am the same way.

  7. I haven’t watched any of them, i would give a try to “lies hidden in my garden”.

    Thank you for these recommendations.

    1. It’s a good show. Thanks so much 😊

  8. I have saved your recommendation but I don’t know how many are available here in Pakistan.

    1. Any Netflix in Pakistan??

      1. Yes that’s the only streaming service we have. The Amazon prime we have had very few English shows and mostly Indian content and that too in regional languages.

        1. Netflix is good enough

Many good stuff is on Netflix 😁

In india, people do like Pakistani content. They enjoy series 😀

          1. I don’t watch any dramas, urdu or English. The stories seem so banal and have the same depressing plots. Besides who has the time when one can read and write via blogging!

    2. That’s understandable, some of these shows are only available on streaming services that don’t offer them everywhere.

      1. Unfortunately for us 🥺

  9. Well currently I’m watching an anime
    Hajime no Ippo
Then I’ll start another anime called bleach.

Then maybe kobra kai s5 😀

    I have a huge list 😝

Only murder in the building seems interesting, korean drama is good too

    I once recommend you
    A move to heaven
    Police University
    And uncanny counter
Money heist korea is great too.

Beef oh my god, worst 10 mins of the show.
The main character was super annoying and I had to detox myself from that 10 mins by watching anime.

    1. Lol yeah, I’ve kept your recommendations in mind. They’re on my list actually but no time 😅
I loved Beef, I think the point was that they’re horrible people 😅

      1. That lady was so annoying, I swear.

For now, I’ll stick to anime.

I need to see where I can find That Steve martin show.
We don’t have Hulu in india, and I am against piracy.

  10. Saw OMITB and WWK. I like the first season of the latter better. I’m looking forward to season 3 of OMITB. I’ll be checking out these other series. If you like crime mystery, I’d also recommend Lincoln Lawyer and Miss Scarlet and the Duke. 🙂

    1. True, season one of WWK is better than the second season. Will check both of those out, I love that genre.

  11. Being a huge fan of Selena Gomez and mystery thrillers, I think I must watch Only murders in the building now.

    1. You absolutely have to, it’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen 😊

  12. Wow, I haven’t seen any of them but I’ll add in my list. K Drama’s are so popular but haven’t watched any, so this one might be a start 😜
Have you seen Never have I ever, they released last season. It’s one of my favourite.

    1. Don’t start with this one if you’ve never seen Kdrama’s before lol. It’s good but there’s better out there 😅
Ooh I love Never Have I Ever, I’m actually watching the last season at the moment.

      1. Hehehe yeah sure, will find out better Kdrama to start with 😜

  13. Thanks Pooj!

    1. Happy to share!

  14. great share, Pooja.
have not watched any of them but will save these recommendations.
    Thanks for the sharing✨🤍

    1. Thanks so much, let me know if you watch any of them in the future 😊

      1. will do and always a pleasure 🤍

  15. Hurray for another fan of the IT Crowd. I loved that show. That was my introduction to richard ayote and I think it was some of his best 🙂

I’d recommend Black’s Books if you like british comedy….

    1. I love that show and yes he’s such a great actor, he did a great job with this show. I haven’t seen him on anything else except I think the YT thing he does.

Will definitely check it out, thanks for the recommendation.

  16. Ohh, I might try and give some of these a watch (though I have watched a few episodes of its always sunny)!

    1. It’s Always Sunny is amazing, it gets much better when Danny DeVito joins. Let me know if you watch any of the others!

      1. Danny DeVito is hilarious, and I will let you know 🙂

  17. Yes, you should share more Tv and movie related content.
I watched season 1 of Why Women Kill, it’s an interesting show, plus I love shows with many females in them.😃

Am currently watching East New York, So Help Me Todd and Love Island Uk S10.

    1. WWK is really good, season 1 is better than season 2. Will definitely share more posts like this.
I don’t know the other shows but I do watch clips of Love Island sometimes.

      1. I will be waiting for them. That is good to know.

  18. I’m not really a television watcher, but I do watch “And Just Like That” religiously.
It’s one of those shows that is so bad, it’s good. I feel like I’m in another universe, like a John Waters world when I watch it and I laugh pretty hard. New episodes come out on Thursdays and I’ve been so busy writing, but I take time to squeeze it in and ignore all emails while I’m watching. 🙂

    1. I’ve heard of that show but never seen it especially since I never watched SATC. I might check it out though, you make it sound really amusing.

  19. I’ve heard of a few of these, but some are new. So it’s great to get recommendations. Thanks, Pooja, and have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you and have a good weekend too!

  20. These sound good and now if I could get time for tv 📺 🤔

    1. Haha that’s the problem isn’t it 😅

  21. I haven’t seen many of these, if only the It crowd but some of the murder mystery style options I’ll certainly check out.

    1. Would definitely recommend Only Murders, it’s fantastic.

      1. Will check that out, thanks 🙂

        1. Let me know what you think of it when you watch it 🙂

  22. Apart from Only Murders in the Building, I have not heard about the rest you mentioned. They seem to be quite underrated. Thanks for the recs! 😃

    1. I would so recommend them, they’re all really great 😊

  23. Lately, every time I start to watch some series, I get bored and leave everything in the middle. I wait for it to end, I read the comments and I am already satisfied. 😅😁🤣

    1. Lol, I understand. I even get bored during movies sometimes lol 😅

      1. Yes, it’s just difficult to keep up with movies lately 😂

  24. Loved Only Murders In The Building, and from what I’ve seen of It’s Always Sunny…pretty funny!

    1. OMITB is so good, I’m very excited for the new season!

  25. I’ve heard so much about beef.
I had my doubts about it but after reading your post I’m definitely going to give it a watch.

    1. It’s definitely worth watching at least once, it’s a really interesting show.

  26. I’ve watched most of these and really loved them. I recently watched BEEF and was surprised by how much I loved it. I’ve never even heard of Lies Hidden In My Garden though. I’ll have to go check that out.

    1. Yeah, I didn’t watch Beef for quite a while because I assumed I wouldn’t like it but when I finally watched it I really enjoyed it. Lies Hidden In My Garden is really good although a bit slow.

  27. The IT Crowd was a good show! Glad to see it made your list 🙂

    1. Yes, such a great and underrated show!

  28. “Should I share more movie or TV show related content?” Yes! I recently blogged about “You are what you watch”. Which dovetails with this post and your previous. I haven’t watched the shows you mentioned; but they sound interesting. Shows I’d like.
I’m limited in that I don’t have access to all the platforms those shows are on.
I just finished binge-ing Season one of BOSCH (on Prime) for the 2nd time. It’s dark, based on a character novelist Micheal Connelly created. Similar to Parker’s Jesse Stone.
    You might like them.

    1. Will definitely share more in the future. So true, what we watch says a lot about us. Bosch sounds interesting, I really enjoy darker shows like that especially when they involve murder mysteries. As you can probably tell from the list. Will definitely check out both shows.

  29. Beef is sooooo goood! Highly recommend it!!!

    1. Yessss, it’s amazing!

  30. Thank you. I really enjoyed your reviews. Especially the one on Beef because I’ve been wondering about that show and debating whether to watch it, and now I will.

    1. Thanks so much and let me know what you think of it when you watch it.

  31. Thanks. I love when other people do the work and find me new shows!

    1. Haha you’re welcome and I’ll share some more soon.

  32. I have seen It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I like that show. It’s always been funny to me. I haven’t seen it in a good while. Some of the other shows I haven’t seen yet. I really don’t get to watch television as much due to work and school. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

    1. Yeah, that show is really funny. How’s school going?

      1. It’s going fine. So much medical terminology to learn, so many books to read. Discussion is alright, but posting them can sometimes be a headache because there’s so much to reply too. I just try to stay focused. To be honest it takes up a lot of my writing time. I barely get to post on my sites, and replying to everyone in my notifications has suffered a lot. Hopefully things will level out because all of this is new to me. I never thought I would be going to college this late in life, but God knows best. Keep me in your prayers because it is what’s going to help me through this next year of school.

        1. Yeah, I’m sure it’s a change from your earlier routine and of course studying is difficult. I remember having to cut back on blogging when I was in university since it became too much for me to handle everything. But over time you learn how to balance everything. Will definitely keep you in my prayers.

            1. You’re very welcome.

  33. Thanks for the suggestions!!!! Love only murders in the building.

    1. Yesss, only murders is such a good show!

      1. It sure is!!!

        1. Btw I left a comment on your blog but I think it went to spam.

          1. Oh crap let me check!

  34. One of the most important posts to read! Actually I don’t watch such shows on Netflix and ott platforms because it’s time consuming and I’m not so interested but I have listened from some of my friends! It’s really really nice recommendations pooja! Awesome👍👏👏😊

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

      1. Most welcome 💕💕dear

  35. I’ve heard all these shows, but haven’t watched any except the Desperate Housewives. A good show can be so addictive. And recently I heard that many actors, who used to be middle class, cannot even make ends meet nowadays. It is so unfair. I mean people work hard and streaming is booming and so many good shows are coming out. And yet many actors cannot even make a living anymore.

    1. True, that’s why they’re on strike. People need to be paid a fair amount for their hard work. You should watch Beef since it has a lot to do with immigrant communities and what life is like for immigrants and kids of immigrants. A lot of it was really relatable to me even though it was more about the Korean community.

  36. Where I am in U.K. we can’t get only murders or women who kill. I haven’t checked the others yet on Netflix

    1. Oh I see, check out IT Crowd, it’s so good and it’s British so I’m sure it’ll be available there.

      1. Yeah I think it is and will do !
