Grow Damn It By Cheryl Oreglia Review
I had been meaning to review Grow Damn It By Cheryl Oreglia for such a long time. I’ve been a fan of her blog for a while now and was really excited when I saw that she was publishing a book. Of course, I hopped onto Amazon and got the Kindle version of because we don’t really have Amazon delivery in Kenya. I read pretty soon after purchasing it and promised myself I would review it but kept getting otherwise preoccupied. And before I knew it, the year was coming to an end. So, I told myself I needed to review it before the years ends.
Anyway, back to the book. To be honest, I had high expectations for this book. Usually I keep my expectations low but being familiar with Cheryl’s writing I knew I would enjoy the book. And I did! Everything I love about her posts was in the book too. For those of you not familiar with her writing, she’s funny, witty, a bit cynical and so sharp. Her writing is so clever.
Grow Damn It! is about Cheryl’s life, the experiences she’s had, the people that mean so much to her and more. She talks about heavier subjects such illness and death but she also keeps the book light with her quick-witted humour.
Cheryl has a way of making the reader feel completely engrossed in her writing. It’s so effortless that it feels like a conversation with a friend. It’s easy to follow, inspiring and evokes many emotions throughout. I’m not exaggerating when I saw I laughed, I cried and I laughed again. That’s exactly the reaction you want from someone reading your book. At least in my humble opinion.
Grow Damn It! is one of the best books I’ve read this year and if you haven’t read this book yet I would very much recommend it. To everyone. No matter what genre you like, I’m sure you’ll find at least a chapter in this book that you will love. Oh, and I think it would make a great Christmas gift for any of your loved ones that like to read.
