Quote Of The Day

Nelson Mandela Quote:

Nelson Mandela Quote

What’s Up With Me?

That’s a great question. Thank you for asking. Well, my WiFi has not been working for like three days so what’s up with me is that I have been living like a caveman for the last few days. It’s been fun. And by fun I mean devastating. You don’t realise how addicted you are to the internet till it’s gone. BUT, it did give me some time to catch up on my reading so that is something I’m grateful for. In fact, I finished an entire book last night which is something I haven’t done in a while. These days it takes me like a week to even finish one book.

Okay, so I may have exaggerated. It hasn’t been all bad. It’s been fun spending time participating in some hobbies. And spending some time doing things other than doomscrolling. And maybe this is what I needed to kick my awful habit of doomscrolling before bed. Will it come back as soon as the WiFi does? Yes, but it’s nice to pretend like we’re okay for a while, isn’t it lol. Anyway, that’s all from me for now.

  1. This is a call to action! I hope more people heed this wonderful quote Pooja. Thank you for sharing.
Having no internet is a big inconvenience in today’s world.

    1. I think so too! Thanks so much, luckily our WiFi is back now.

      1. That must be a relief

        1. Yes, very much so.

          1. 🩷🩷🩷

  2. Love the quote… It’s one we can all use to hear more and do our part.. 💕

    1. Thanks so much and I very much agree 💕

      1. You’re so welcome, Pooja!!
        🩷

  3. Gandhi and Mandela the only two leaders of our time that have credibility.

    1. Yes, very few leaders have credibility.

  4. The man was exactly correct, Pooja! Doomscrolling? That’s new to me! I totally agree with you on the internet addiction. Not good. Be well! ❤️

    1. I think so too! The internet is a double edged sword and we can get so addicted sometimes. Thanks and you too! ❤️

      1. ☺️❤️❤️

  5. Don’t doomscroll! It’s counterproductive.
Just had 4 days at a remote beach with no internet or mobile reception! Bliss! I read real books. Talked to other people in the campground. We went to the pub. Walked on the beach. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Real life starts again tomorrow. 🙄 But, we have decided to do the beach visit more often. 💕

    1. You read paperbooks, not “real” books.

    2. That’s so wonderful. I’ve decided to take a couple of days off the internet every month from now on. It’s good to get a break and live in the real world for a bit 😊

  6. Doomscrolling. One more reason I’m on WP and that is it. Ain’t nobody got time for doomscrolling!

    1. That’s. why WP is the best!

  7. Did you practice your guitar at all? 🤨 😆
You saw my poem earlier, so you kinda know what was up with me already lol

    1. A little but my lessons are online 😅

Lol yeah, I guess I do haha.

      1. OK, well… I guess you got me there 😄

  8. I did enjoy the quote and as others are saying, it’s needed more now than ever before.

Good luck dealing with doomscrolling once your internet is fully back. Doing that once or twice usually cures me as I don’t like the sleeplessness it causes (especially if I open Twitter/X late at night! 😱)

    1. Thanks and I think so too.

For me it’s Instagram and TikTok, once I get on there it’s hard to leave 🫣

  9. a great quote…

enjoy your time off lol…it’s good (sometimes) 😉

    1. Thanks so much. Haha yes, my unexpected break was quite nice 😅

      1. most welcome 🤍

  10. Love the quote.

Wifi off or complete internet off? Like even mobile data?

Because it keeps happening here in udaipur.
I sometimes feel that in the times of digital need, why would the ban internet.
Wheather it’s some exam or some riot in place far from udaipur, net gets affected 😛
They completely ban it for 2 days.

But I realise something everytime, I don’t need net that much. Like when we have internet, we scroll and watch stuff, but no net means no such things.
Yes we find time for healthy things like you do. I do it always. But still internet is needed for money payment and blogging.
Otherwise I’ve realised that I can disappear for days and no one will care 😔 that’s life, you give so much attention to so called friends, yet you get nothing from them

You’ve adopted a good habit, stick to it.

    1. Thanks so much.

I had some data so not off completely. I could still work while using hotspot.

Oh no, that’s awful. That sucks but at least now you’re not reliant on the internet. Thanks so much. 😊

      1. Well it keeps happening all the time
It happened last month, for 1 whole day.
I didn’t know, there was some exam and they ban the internet for 12 hours 😛.

But I feel no internet gives peace, it makes me remember 90’s when we weren’t that into Internet and when internet didn’t ruled our lives.

You are 90s kid as well 🤗
        Gen Z but 90’s

        1. Yes, our childhood was internet free and it was kind of fun 😊

          1. This give an idea

I can conduct an experiment in which I ask people to avoid social media for 2 days and record their feelings 😊

I’ll like to that try that you on, you are taking a lot of stress lately and doom scrolling

            1. Ooh, interesting. I’d like to see the results of that. I stopped doomscrolling don’t worry 😅

  11. Nice quote❤️❤️ Sometimes to me
Changing the World is a very demanding task

    1. Thanks so much 😊 Yes, it is I think but a task worth it. All we can do is our best ❤️

  12. Great quote. Yes we are thoroughly addicted to the internet. What did we do before? Is it good or bad?

    1. Thank you so much. I think the internet is great and awful simultaneously.

  13. How grand like the man himself. Thanks.

    1. Yes, indeed. Thank you.

  14. My contribution:
“How wonderful is it that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank

    1. I really like the quote, I think it goes well with the one I shared.

  15. An inspiring call to action and a powerful reminder that what we do matters!

    1. Indeed, thanks so much!

  16. This is a fabulous quote, Pooja, and one to live by. We can make a difference by being positive and spread positive energies. I am sorry about your internet woes.

    1. Thanks so much. Absolutely we can. Just showing basic kindness towards everyone helps. Thankfully, they fixed the WiFi.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja, and I am glad your WiFi is fixed!

  17. I like the fact that today’s quote emphasises the fact that change starts with us.

    1. I liked that too. I think we need to do the work if we want the world to be a better place.

  18. Well, I guess I’m kinda sorry you lost your wifi. And I say this for what you could enjoy while it’s been gone. But then without it we can’t find out how you’re doing. So it needs to come back.

I’ve lost the function of my computer. It overheated and shut down. At present, I’m having a table fan try to keep the computer cool, which is sort of working. I do not know, not being a technician, what damage might have been done besides whatever fan has failed. Sigh.

The quotation by Mandela places the need for changing action right where it belongs–in our hands. We can wait for nature or divinity or ETs to make the change. But really it is on us, as it should be.

From one challenged technocrat to another, Pooja–Christopher

  19. I take media fasts on purpose to be prepared for an electricity failure.

    1. That’s good, I think breaks are necessary in general too just so we don’t get too addicted.

  20. Having no wifi sucks! But reading, now that is awesome and I’m happy you got to do more of it! I love the quote too!

    1. It does but it was nice to be able to read for a bit!

  21. We can’t do much without wifi! I can’t believe I lived without it half my life!

    1. I know, it’s crazy we used to live without WiFi!

  22. Making a difference is easier said than done, I love talking about it at the job interview but when the reality of facing the challenge happens I’m not always up for it. Especially when my Internet goes off and I start getting sick

    1. True, it’s much harder when we have to do the work. No internet was crazy, it was so weird.

      1. But you survived!

        1. Yes, that’s true!

  23. February…so far, it’s weird, I thought January sucked, but I look back at the journal, I was busy and active, and so far this month…not spectacular, but on the right path…

    1. I think sometimes we don’t realise how much we’ve achieved until we think about it as a whole. Hope February goes well for you.

  24. February has been a bust!

    1. Oh no, hope it gets better!
