Dalai Lama Quote

Quote Of The Day

Dalai Lama Quote:

Dalai Lama Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I really love this Dalai Lama quote because it’s something I’m currently really putting into practice. I used to be a very goal oriented person. But in the long run, I ended up unhappy because once the goals were fulfilled I didn’t care anymore. So recently, I’ve been trying really hard to do what makes me happy instead of just focusing on work goals. And that’s actually been going really great.

Talking of things that make me happy, you guys know that there’s one thing that makes me exceptionally happy and that is writing. A little while ago, I mentioned that I was almost done with my book and I am happy to report that I’m finally actually done.

The weird thing is, when I first started writing the book the one thing I was sure about was the ending. However, the ending changed multiple times while I wrote and now the ending is completely different than what I had imagined. I guess it’s a really good whodunit when even the writer doesn’t know who the killer is till the end lol.

Anyway, have a great week!

  1. I really like the quote. It’s simple and relatable… something reasonable to strive towards that is good for your soul, instead of some achievement that may or may not help you in life where it matters. Congratulations on finishing your book… and keeping yourself in suspense to the end! 😅

    1. Thanks so much haha 😝

  2. It’s a really great quote, except life has no purpose, the purpose is to live it, breathe it, walk it, talk it preferably in a happy mood, it’s definitely more fun this way.
This week I’m going to a job interview and a garden party on the same day , so it’s going to be interesting )))
I was listening to deep house in my headphones every day after work, it makes my day better so I highly recommend if you are looking to raise the level of happiness. It’s a game changer.
Last week was nice and busy, made some dough, it’s always a good thing, right?

    1. That’s true, sometimes it’s just about existing.

      Oh nice, that sounds fun!

      1. Wishing you all the best publishing the book!

          1. I wonder how easy it hard it can be to self publish, I think other bloggers might be interested too

            1. I hope to share my thoughts on it soon. I think it would help others to know about what issues I faced and what I did to move past them. There’s a lot about self-publishing you don’t know until you try it.

              1. Sounds good, I’m looking forward to learning more about it

  3. Yay Pooja! I’m glad you finished your new book! It’s good to focus on being happy. 😊❤️

  6. Great quote!!!!
And yes always dive into what makes you happy. You’re doing a great job with your writing.

    1. Thanks so much!!

      1. You’re welcome

  7. Congratulations on finishing your book! I love that quote! It’s so awesome!

    1. Thank you so much!

  8. Love the quote. Simple. With novel writing, to me the first chapter, or the beginning is the difficult part. Partly because that’s the section that hooks the reader and begins to set up the world you’ve created. If the reader is satisfied with the first chapter, then they are more than likely going to finish the book. Good luck with your novel!

    1. Thanks so much. Oh that’s so true, the first chapter is so important and sort of makes or breaks a book.

  9. The quotation is good. There’s a quotation by Martin Luther about beer that has a similar sentiment: that beer was invented because God loves us and wants us to be happy. (Luther liked his beer.) More importantly, perhaps it’s being happy with who we are and what we have and using both positively, healthily, and holistically. (And soon the rest of the text of the brochure for my retreat center.) I’m both pleased and now intriguing regarding the ending of your novel. When the ending changes on its way to, well, ending, that’s often promising. I think in a roundabout but real way this indicates that you really own the story and the process of creating it.

    1. Thanks so much. Haha that’s interesting. I studied Martin Luther in so much detail for one of my courses, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard that quote before.

  10. I really think that the purpose of our lives should be to be kind. 💖

    1. That’s a good point, being kind is important 💕

  11. I’m inclined to agree with Milena, in that I really don’t think life has a purpose, so it’s up to everyone to choose one. My own view is that nothing in life has importance , but the human condition seems to require that you come up with something that you’d like to be important and then pretend that it is.
Another version of the same philosophy comes from Hunter S Thompson ….. ‘find something that you really love and let it kill you’.

Whatever the case, being happy seems preferable to its opposite.

    1. That’s a good quote too and yeah I guess we all find our own goals to give us purpose.

      1. I’m not sure that ‘goal’ is the right term as it suggests that we have direction and destination when, in fact, we have already arrived and this is the destination.

  12. Nice quote and I love the song.

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re very welcome.

  13. it’s really so simple at times…we just complicate it 🥴

    Congrats on your book, Pooja…🎉🤍

    1. Yes, I wish more people tried to find happiness instead of other priorities.

      1. That would make a better world. 🙏🤗

  17. Congrats on having finished your draft, Pooja. Well done. Happiness truly is a disposition of the heart and not about location, or goals. Loving the change of mindset. 🙏

    1. Thanks so much, yes absolutely 😊

  18. Hmmmm – happiness is good but isn’t fulfilment better?

  19. Brilliant quote and it is so true. Life is short so we ought to be happy and live life to the fullest💯🙏💡💡

    1. Thanks so much and absolutely agree 😊

  20. That is indeed an intriguing quote

    1. Glad you thought so.

  21. Congrats on completing your book. I like the quote. My favorite take on happiness is illustrated by the story about the young cat and the old cat by Wayne Dyer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xz7edbxACo

    1. Thanks so much. Oh nice, will definitely check it out.

  22. Congrats, Pooja! 🎉

  24. I hear you. I’m still trying to figure out the balance…productivity makes me happy…but I need to read the signs and signals when “diminishing returns” are looming. 🥰

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, I think balance is so important when it comes to goals.

  25. Oh wow you’re already done with your second book.

    1. Thanks so much, I so appreciate that. Have a great rest of your week.

  29. Sometimes the writer gives birth to characters but just like all children, before long they take control of their own lives. Congrats on completing the book!

    1. That’s so true. Thanks so much!

  30. I like the quote too, especially how the Dalai Lama’s teachings encourage us to strive for happiness not just for ourselves but also for the benefit of all beings.

Pooja, congratulations 🎉 on your new book.

    1. Thanks so much and yes that’s true, kindness becomes a bit of a cycle 😊

  31. Look forward to reading the new book when done, and love the quote. Do what you love to do is great advice.

    1. Thanks so much.

  32. Very good quote !! 👍

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

  33. That’s a great quote Pooja. Maintaining that happiness even when facing adversity is hard, though we need to value ourselves even more than our circumstances.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s so true, it’s hard to find happiness when we’re going through tough times. I think that’s when we have to remember to prioritise our happiness the most.

Wow, I can’t believe you’re done with your book.. So amazing and love how the ending wrote itself. Will the real murder, please stand up.😂

    1. Thanks so much! Lolll 😅

  36. What could be greater than happiness!

  37. Pooja, just curious… do you create a framework or storyboard for your plot… or are you the kind who just wings it? (There’s a term for this latter approach, can’t remember it)

    1. I have a plot in mind but I try not to limit myself. If something doesn’t feel right I’m open to changing it.

  38. Love the quote! Congratulations on finishing your book, Pooja! ♥️💐

    1. Thank you so much! ☺️

  39. wow!! 22Hanging On By A Thread

  40. Very nice quote. I completely agree with it. The purpose of life is to be happy in life.

    1. Thanks so much and I think so too.

  41. If that’s the case Why do so many of us run around like idiots and therefore avoiding happiness?? Hmmmm 🤣😎🙃

    1. That’s just human nature 😅
