Sir Terry Waite Quote

Quote Of The Day

Sir Terry Waite Quote:

Sir Terry Waite Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I’m insistent on having a great start to the year and refuse to let life change that. In just one week (yes one week has gone by already) I have had so many ups and downs. And the interesting thing is I’ve held it together much better than I expected. I’ve gotten much better at boundaries, processing emotions and letting go of that which I can’t control (pretty much everything). I’m really proud of how much I have improved mentally and physically last year. And I have meditation and therapy to thank for that.

Of course, I still have a long way to go but I’m happy about the progress.

In other news, fellow blogger and a good friend of mine, Cindy Georgakas of Unique Times recently announced that her book (Celebrating Poetry) currently on sale. The Ebook version of it is at a much lower price and I think it is an absolute steal. I reviewed Celebrating Poetry last year when the book first came out and as I am sure some of you may remember, it quickly became one of my favourite poetry collections. You can find it here.

  1. The quote is very true, Pooja. Sad too… It’s sometimes difficult to not be bitter these days but we all must do our best to push that back and be as happy as possible. Think positive! 🤘🏻😎

    1. Yes, it is definitely difficult not to hold on to some bitterness these days. I have to admit I do that as well. But yes all we can do is try our best to remain positive 😊

      1. Amen! Hugs!

  2. That quote is so true.

    1. Yes, I thought so too.

  3. I love the quote. Our thoughts become our actions. Hugs, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much and yes so true. Hugs, hope you’re doing well.

  4. Hey Pooja, so happy to hear you are feeling motivated and inspired. It’s a good thing.
The year started very well for me, the quote is very true, bitterness is detrimental. Resilience is the way to grow.
Work keeps pouring in, I don’t know if I want it or not but I guess I am taking it all. Looks like the year is going to be busy. No rest for the wicked.

    1. Thanks so much and yes very true. I must be really wicked then lol.

      1. I don’t know about that. You don’t seem to be

        1. Yeah but I’ve been getting no rest which may be making me extra wicked lol.

          1. It could be the case, you are right

  5. With bitterness, I recommend soul chemotherapy.

    1. Yes or just some regular therapy lol.

  6. I’m glad you’ve held it together better than you expected. Also, the quote makes me feel more cautious towards those that seem bitter (including bitter melon).

    1. Thanks so much. Haha I can’t resist bitter food so I can’t second that. Bitter melon is one of my favourites.

  7. Great quote, and so true too. I hear you on the ups and downs, but it’s so good you’re keeping your boundaries firm and handling things the best you can 🙏 Hope all is calm for the rest of the week your way! 😊

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I think the ups and downs are inescapable but we have to try our best to stay positive. Thanks so much and hope you have the best week 😊

  8. With all the smiles
    Must come the frowns
    The ups mean nought
    Without the downs
    For every yin
    There must be yang
    The concert last
    Till the last song’s sang

    1. Yes, life is full of ups and downs.

  9. I think it depends on what you mean by bitterness. Grapefruits and IPAs (beers) are bitter, but they are still good. Yesterday I drank a pretty bitter IPA (Double Yellow Rose) with 90 IBU (International Bitterness Units).

But I realize that’s not what the quote is about. Setbacks, disappointments, dashed hopes, can lead to bitterness and that is a negative unhappy feeling that is difficult to overcome. So, in that sense it is a cancer, but since there is a universal cure, by a new way of viewing life, and at the same time if it isn’t overcome, it can spread to others around you, I think it is more similar to a long lasting infectious disease that’s difficult to cure, like Tuberculosis.

    1. Bitter melon too, I love it so much.

Yes, I think the main thing is to not let the negative things take over. It’s okay to experience negative emotions but don’t let them control you and bring you down. True, I think Tuberculosis is a better comparison since it’s not only difficult to cure but also very contagious just like bitterness.

    1. Glad you agree!

  10. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  11. I agree with the quote. Glad to hear that your new year is off to a good start. I was surprised to receive your book today because the news said to expect postal delays well into January, even though the strike is over.

    1. Thanks so much. I think even the postal workers want you to read the book so they brought it to you asap lol.

  12. Mindset is everything, they say. I’m glad you’re staying centered Pooja. This week I’ve been listening to two.books on my walks. Nuclear War by Annie Jacobson, and A call to Action by the late President Carter.
    very good listening

    1. Yes and I think I really believe that. The world is a tough place so resilience is a much needed skill.
I’ve been meaning to get into A Call To Action, I studied President Carter and everything he did for the country. And I’ve always been a big fan of his. He always seemed so down to earth and humble.

      1. Yes..by all.accounts he was. I met someone who’s dad worked his security detail ages ago, and he said the former president remembers meeting him as a 5 year old, some forty odd years later.
Btw.. the book is a good read..I can’t thank.Edward enough for the recommendation.

        1. Wow, what a sharp memory. Till the end he was so well spoken. It’s really impressive. I will most definitely be reading it as soon as I’m done with the current book I’m reading.

          1. I.hooe my memory is as sharp ten years form now lol. Enjoy, Pooja

            1. One can only hope lol.

  13. This quote is spot on Pooja.

    1. I thought so too.

      1. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  14. Yes, bitterness eats the heart.
I’m listening to a lot of Ian Dury this week because that’s who I’m writing about. I have to get it into the publishers by April so I’m working hard!

    1. Ooh very interesting, good luck with finishing the book!

  15. We’re dealing with a run of bitterly cold weather, so work is a bit tough. Plus, by the end of Monday, it was full enough of “doing stuff” that I seriously thought it was Wednesday when the day was over, hahahaha 🙂

    1. Oof yeah some days are just like that. Hopefully the rest of the week will be better 🙂

      1. -19 C today! Good times, haha…

        1. Oh geez, that’s crazy cold 🥶

          1. Yeah, 30min tops of working outside before having to warm up in the van. Made for a very slow day…

            1. Yeah, I can definitely imagine.

  16. give us a kiss

    1. Ummm that costs extra lol.

      1. not anymore than anything else do.

  17. That is an interesting quote. Hanging on to bitterness has negative effects. Sometimes it behooves us to step back and analyze our feelings. Speaking of bitterness, it is bitter cold in my neck of the woods. Brr.

    1. Yes, very much so. I think when we let those negative emotions manifest and live rent free in our minds we’re doing ourselves a big disservice.
      Ooh no stay warm!

      1. I enjoy cold weather and it will be fun if it snows. Usually, the snow melts quickly if it accumulates on the ground.

  19. Terry Waite, as I recall, was a hostage imprisoned for years, then was freed. So for him to be quoted on bitterness is pretty effective. Well-chosen for a quotation to share. I’m glad and relieved that things are going well for you in terms of, well, I’ll say endurance. Managing how to react emotionally (or not so much) and such. That’s not necessarily an easy thing. Sometimes I think the chemicals in my system leak into the rest at the wrong time, thus causing my attitude to sour or spike or whatever. Keep going, you. I got Cindy’s book on sale.

    1. love that, Charles and thanks so much for getting my book. I hope you like it! 💓

    2. Yes, very much so. Thanks so much. I really agree, it’s all about how we manage our reactions because that’s really the only thing we can control. Definitely not easy but can be done with enough practice. Thanks and enjoy Cindy’s book, it’s fantastic.

  20. Great quote Pooja and good on you to making those boundaries work for you! That’s just awesome. Thank you so much for the shout out of the sale of my book. I really appreciate it! That video is cracklackling funny! 😁🤣❣️ Keep Dancing, my friend! ❤️

    1. Thank you so much! You’re so welcome and so glad you enjoyed it! 😅❤️

      1. You’re so very welcome and I most certainly did!!! ❤️

  21. I liked the quote. It’s so true!

Way to go with your start to 2025! It’s amazing how well we do when we are mindful and use all the resources we can for growth and to maintain peace in our lives. The trick is of course keeping at it, and I often need to remind myself that!

I had never heard Doechii until one of the songs on my son’s NYE post on my site featured her… small world! Catchy tune.

    1. Thanks so much! True, it takes a while but if we do our best we can change for the better.

Oh that’s interesting, she’s not incredibly famous but very popular among younger generations.

  22. That’s a great quote, Pooja. The universe is mental. What we think and feel is what we are, better cultivate positive thoughts and feelings.

    1. That’s so true, we attract with our thoughts. If our mind is negative we start negativity. That’s why it’s so vital to let go of that negativity.

      1. Absolutely,👍

  23. Very good quote. And about your progress, you should be proud Pooj. Life is hard and we are always being tested. There will be times that you might again feel overwhelmed, I know that I do, but you got this.

    1. Thanks so much, I appreciate you saying that. Life is always going to have ups and downs and that’s why our attitude is so important.

  24. Glad you’ve gotten better at processing your emotions. Now you continue, one moment, one day at a time. Sir Terry Waite is right on point with that quote.

    1. Thanks so much and yes the quote is definitely on point.

Great that you are getting better at processing emotions and stuff like that. The quote is great.

    1. Thanks so much, therapy and meditation has really helped with it.

        Good to hear!

  26. I once heard someone describe bitterness as akin to putting feces in a brownie mix. Lol. It’s hard to have and enjoy anything – even good things – if you’ve got bitterness flavoring all that you do.

    1. Lol, I will never get that out of my head but yeah that’s pretty accurate actually.

  27. Joining the celebration dance on your progress, Pooja! I’m always happy when my steps are moving forward, too often I find myself doing the cha-cha instead, lol. Lovely that you shared Cindy’s awesome book promo as well! I can’t wait to dive into your book, it was one of my Christmas presents to me 💞

    1. Aw thanks! Oh yes, sometimes it even feels like we’re just moving backwards. But that’s life, we have to cha-cha through it lol.
I was happy to share Cindy’s- she’s so sweet and supportive!
I’m so happy you got the book, I really do hope you enjoy it 😊💕
