She walked a lonely path
But to her
It was the most beautiful path of all
Because it was the path
That she had chosen for herself
Away from everything that held her back
Even if it was by herself
She was moving forward
Never looking behind her shoulder
Ever again.

About “A Lonely Path”:
This poem was inspired by Kevin’s No Theme Thursday prompt for the week. He has so many great images as always. You can check out all his prompts here. My apologies to Kevin, I know I posted this a little later in the week than preferable!
As you guys know from my previous posts, I have really been doing so much introspection recently and have been thinking about the path I am on versus the path I want to be on. And one thing I have made a decision about is this. Regardless of what path I choose to take, I want to take my own path. I don’t want to take a path simply to please others or because it’s the path that society deems acceptable. I’ve gotten to a place in my life where I simply don’t care anymore what anyone else has to say about my decisions. I want to just be me and make my own decisions.
Of course, I’ll take into account how those decisions will affect those I love. But I will not be living my life in black and white simply because of others opinions. And that is what inspired this poem.
Comments will be switched off for this post. I’m just really busy with my writing atm.
I recently published my first book and would be honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.
